(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Rongyue from Guanghan City, Sichuan Province was sentenced to four years in prison for his belief. He is being brutally tortured at Wumaping Prison in Muchuan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. His situation is critical.

Mr. Zhang Rongyue lives in Guangxing Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. He was arrested in March 2011 by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel as he was removing banners that slandered Falun Gong. He was later detained in the Guanghan Detention Center for more than six months, then sentenced to four years in prison by the Guanghan Court.

Mr. Zhang was sent to Wumaping Prison on January 9, 2012. In a few short days, the prison called his family and said he “was trying to commit suicide.” Knowing that Falun Gong clearly prohibits killing and suicide, we believe that the CCP authorities must have been trying to cover up an unspeakable crime when they used the excuse of “suicide.” Mr. Zhang's wife and son immediately drove more than ten hours to the prison to see him. At that point, Mr. Zhang's body was covered with wounds. He burst out crying as soon as he saw his family.

The prison authorities claimed that Mr. Zhang had hidden a piece of sharp metal under the table at mealtime and used it to slash his wrists. We have no way of verifying this statement, but Falun Gong clearly prohibits committing suicide, and it seems highly improbable that Mr. Zhang would do this. A much more likely explanation is that the authorities made up the suicide claim to cover up the injuries that were inflicted by torture and physical abuse.

Mr. Zhang's wife went to see Mao Li, director of the Guanghan 610 Office, when she returned, and requested Mr. Zhang's release.

We hope that practitioners outside of China can make phone calls and help to rescue Mr. Zhang Rongyue. We also hope that local practitioners will send righteous thoughts to help secure his release.
