“The Art of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance” exhibition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

About two dozen paintings depicted the spread of Falun Gong around the world and the joy of cultivating truthfulness, compassion and tolerance, as well as the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. Some of the paintings highlighted the persistence and courage of practitioners in face of the persecution and conveyed the principle that good and bad deeds will receive their due.

Shan-shan, a new student from Mainland China, asked many questions about Falun Gong after visiting the exhibition. She said she had never seen anything like this in China. The state-run media in China has spread nothing but lies about Falun Gong. After learning the true situation, she solemnly signed her name in the guestbook.

On the last day of the exhibition, Shan-shan returned with some friends. She talked with a practitioner who had been tortured in China and decided to quit the Communist Young Pioneers, an organization affiliated with the CCP.

An American student named Carlos said he visited Qinghai Province, China three years ago, but had no idea that such atrocities were happening behind the scenes. Nearly in tears, he wrote “Everyone in the world should have the freedom of belief.” He was also very interested in learning Falun Gong and signed up to attend a free introductory exercise class.

A visitor named Ruth commented, “Though the exhibition makes me feel sad, the amazing works give me a sense of this truthfulness, compassion, tolerance that will bring peace to the world.”

Another woman named Veronica wrote, “The exhibit made me think about the meaning of life. It is awesome.”

Three staff members from the school administration visited the exhibit and were appalled upon learning of the brutality of the persecution of Falun Gong. They were impressed with excellent artistry and were further impressed to find that all of the artists of the exhibit practice Falun Gong.
