Mr. Wu Qinghai, a senior-level elementary School teacher from Nancang, Tongzhou District, Beijing, who was also the director of a school-owned factory, was sentenced to four years in prison. While he was in prison, his health was seriously weakened by torture, and he was released on medical parole. Tragically, he died on December 6, 2003 at the age of 51.

Mr. Wu started cultivating Falun Dafa in 1996. He was arrested on October 29, 2000 while he was passing out printed material explaining the facts about Falun Gong. His home was ransacked, and the factory he was running was closed and went bankrupt. Mr. Wu was dismissed from his job and sentenced to four years in prison.

Mr. Wu suffered brutal torture in the prison, which resulted in the weakening of his body, the reappearance of a heart problem and his repeated loss of consciousness. The prison hospital determined that he would need quadruple bypass surgery. To avoid paying his medical costs, the prison released him on medical parole.

On orders from the Jiang regime, Mr. Wu's wife refused to help him. Mr. Wu had lost his job, had no resources, and could not even buy his own food. He barely survived with his friend's help. Police constantly harassed him, and as a result of all the persecution he went through, Mr. Wu died on December 6, 2003.
