(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Qi Jianchao from Baoding City, Hebei Province had suffered under the persecution for a long time. He was detained at the Baoding Forced Labor Camp long term for torture. He never recovered after his release and died on July 30, 2004.

Mr. Qi Jianchao was in his 30's. He graduated from Hebei University and worked at the Baoding Zhongxing (Tianye) Car Company. He was kind-hearted and honest, and was widely recognized as a good person. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, he had been to Beijing several times to appeal for Falun Gong, trying to tell the government the truth about Falun Gong, and that there was nothing wrong with being a good person cultivating "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Nevertheless, he was arrested several times in violation of the Chinese constitution and thrown into a detention center and jail. Mr. Qi went on a hunger strike to resist the illegal detention, but was brutally force-fed. The detention center authorities did not release him, even when he was at the brink of death. At the beginning of 2000 he was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor.

Once at the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, Mr. Qi would not give up his belief. He had suffered all kinds of savage torture, including "tying the ropes." Being confined in a solitary compartment was another form of torment, as well as "riding an airplane, carrying a sword in the back, cuffed and hung, beaten up and burned by a cigarette (see torture details from http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html and http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/2/3/18368.html). A cigarette burn scar about four inches in diameter remained on his chest at the time of his death. The inmates would often beat him up, and one of his thumbs was disabled from the torture of being cuffed and hung up. At the time his term was reached and he was released, around the 2003 Chinese Lunar New Year, he was extremely weak and absent-minded from the long-term torture. After his release, persons from the Baoding City "610 Office" as well as the Yongning County "610 Office" where he was originally from kept following, watching and harassing him. Someone was always following him, no matter where he went. Due to the long-term persecution, his body and mind never recovered from the damage, and he died on July 30, 2004.
