Facts of Persecution

Ms. Wang Suqing, a Dafa practitioner from Fucheng county, Hebei province, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Subsequently, she was kidnapped many times, fined and twice sent to a brainwash center. The police beat her, tortured her, forced her to take off her jacket and stand in the cold, and forced her to squat for long periods of time. The police also forced her to take off her shoes and stand on ice for 10 hours straight. Her legs and arms were numb and she shivered for a long time.

Ms. Feng Suxia, a Dafa practitioner from the city of Renqiu, went to Beijing to appeal after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. She was sent home and imprisoned in Renqiu Detention Center for 13 days. Her husband was forced to pay a deposit of 5,000 Yuan (1) in order to guarantee that Ms. Feng would not go to appeal again and the money has still not yet been returned to them. Feng wrote a letter asking for the return of the 5,000 Yuan. However, the police refused to give the money back, arrested Feng and imprisoned her in the detention center for almost 2 months now.

Mr. Ren Zeguo, 35 years old, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xuecheng district, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. He went to Beijing in October 2000 to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was detained 20 days in the local police station. Eleven female Dafa practitioners from the city of Yanji in Jilin Province, including Ms. Dong Guizhi and Ms. Liu Zhenqin, were sent to the Changchun City Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. On February 7, 2003, Wang Dejun, the Director of the Lishu County Police Department in Siping City, Jilin Province, took his team to the home of practitioner Zhang Kaiping to arrest him. However, Zhang escaped. The Xiaochengzi Police Department repeatedly went to Zhang's home to threaten and force his family help them find him. On March 18, 2003, the police from the Xiaochengzi Police Department broke into Zhang's home and kidnapped his wife. Zhang's wife fainted and fell to the ground. The police still took her to the police station. She was lying in bed unconscious and her life was in danger. One family member asked, "You still won't let her go to the hospital even though she is in critical condition?" Director Feng refused to release her and said, "If you want to take her to the hospital, you must bail her out with her brother. When she is in the hospital, her brother must come to the police station whenever he is called upon." Her relatives signed the agreement out of desperation.

Practitioners Gong Qiumin and Zhang Gongchang were arrested by the police in Jiangyuan County in Jilin Province. They refused to cooperate with the evil and would not reveal the whereabouts of other practitioners. The police from Jiangyuan County illegally sentenced Gong and Zhang on June 25, 2004 for "obstructing justice."

The Jizhong Prison in Mancheng County, Baoding City, persecutes the police officers and their families if they practice Falun Gong. In May 2002, Yang Zhigang, a prison guard who was also a Dafa practitioner, went to Beijing to validate the Fa where he was kidnapped. Yang was tortured and sent back to Mancheng County. Yang went on a hunger strike to protest. The authorities at Jizhong Prison asked the guards, the staff members and their families to write letters to guarantee that they would not practice Falun Gong. Otherwise, they would be arrested. One staff member, Zhao Lingru, and a police officer's family member, Zhang Yumei, were forced to leave home to avoid arrest and another one of the police officers who was a Dafa practitioner was arrested. Yang Zhigang was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. In September 2002, practitioners Zhang Yumei and Zhao Lingru were caught. They were locked up in the local prison where they were brutally tortured. Zhang Yumei was sentenced to 4 years in prison and Zhao Lingru was sentenced to 7 years.
