Ms. Liu Lianfeng, 43 years old, was a practitioner from Sunhe Town, Chaoyang District of Beijing. In July 2000, Sunhe Town Police sent her to the Chaoyang Detention Center where she was tortured into unconsciousness and taken to a hospital. In the hospital, she was injected with unknown drugs and became paralyzed and bedridden. The torturers released her, after recognizing the severity of her condition, on home-detention. On October 20 2001, she passed away due to the persecution.

In October 1998, Liu Lianfeng began to practice Falun Gong and she became mentally and physically healthy. Since Jiang's followers began the persecution of Falun Gong, Liu Lianfeng clarified the truth to the government, hoping to reverse the misunderstanding about Falun Gong. She told people that Falun Gong can result in improved mental and physical health, improve morality and can benefit people and society.

She had suffered from repeated persecution for being determined in practicing Falun Gong, and living by the standard of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." She had been detained many times before Sunhe Town Police Station sent her to Chaoyang Detention Center. Liu Lianfeng persisted in her practice of Falun Gong and demanded to be unconditionally released through a hunger strike. The Chaoyang Detention Center staff incited inmates to beat her, cursed at her, and forced her to do heavy labor. She collapsed and fell unconscious from the torture, after which she was sent to a hospital.

The hospital injected unknown drugs into her. Liu Lianfeng was tortured into paralysis and became bedridden. At that time the hospital asked her family to take her home under home-detention. When she was back home, the district police continued to harass her, causing her great distress. On October 20, 2001, she passed away.
