Facts of Persecution

1. Persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Wafangdian Prison of Dalian City, Liaoning Province

Since 2003, Mr. Song Yuegang has been persecuted many times and now he suffers from symptoms of tuberculosis. On September 13, 2004, prisoners beat practitioner Mr. Yang Guoqian. His head was injured and covered with blood. The prisoners who beat Yang were Yu Baogang, Gai Dong, Zhao Zhongbo, Wang Zhen, and Cui Zhenhuan. One of the penalties for fighting between prisoners is to sit on a small bench for a prolonged period of time. However, the prisoners who beat Falun Gong practitioners were not held responsible. After the guards learned that inmates beat Yang, they put Yang in the Strict Surveillance Team. Visiting hours in the prison are very short because the staff does not want the truth of the persecution to leave the prison. The guards avoid answering the phone because they are afraid to learn that people on the outside know of the crimes happening in the prison.

2. Practitioner Ms. Tian Lanying and her family are persecuted in Jing County, Hebei Province

Ms. Tian Lanying, with husband Wan Haitao, mother Li Xiukun and other family members used to live in Jing County, Hebei Province. On July 19, 1999, Tian, her mother and her child went to Beijing to appeal and were imprisoned for three days in the Liangji Township Police Station. In October 2000, Secretary Shi (given name unknown) from the township, and police officers Zhao Zilong, Wang Lanfeng, and Ma Jinming kidnapped Tian's husband Wan Haitao while he was at home. In the spring of 2000, the township government lured Tian and her mother Li Xiukun under false pretenses and imprisoned them for more than ten days. In November 2000, Li Xiukun went to Beijing to appeal. The township government brought her back and put her in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp for two years. On the night of December 31, 2000, Secretary Shi and Officer Zhao Zilong kidnapped Tian from home and imprisoned her for 23 days. On February 24, 2003, the police locked Tian's mother Li Xiukun in the Jing County Prison. Li was force-fed, slandered and humiliated.

3. Six practitioners arrested in Qidong County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province

On October 11, 2004, six practitioners from Qidong County, Hunan Province went to Beijing. Police from Tiananmen Police Station arrested them. On October 15, officers from the Qidong County "610 Office" and the political security division of the police department brought the six practitioners back to the Qidong County and put them on trial. In the process of their interrogation, the police beat some of the practitioners. Below is the list of practitioners who were arrested.

(1). Ms. Zou Meiying, 45 years old, from Qianxinkuang, Qingshuitang Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, (2). Ms. Deng Shunhua, 50 years old, from Qianxinkuang, Qingshuitang Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, (3). Ms. Tan Zhongtian, 52 years old, from Xinhe Village, Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, (4). Ms. Guan Minglian, 47 years old, from Dayuan Village, Guanjiazui Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province. Police officer Wang Ximing beat her right arm with a wooden rod, causing it to swell. (5). Ms. He Qionghui, 38 years old, from Baila Village, Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province. (6). Ms. Xiao Gaohua, 44 years old, from Baila Village, Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province.

4. Practitioner Mr. Liang Ruiqiang from Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province kidnapped and persecuted in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liang Ruiqiang was born in 1975 and used to work at the Yixing Leather Company in the Baisha Industrial District of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. Between 1999 and 2000, he appealed in Beijing and was imprisoned for 15 days. His family paid 1,500 yuan to have him released and there was no receipt given. His property was also confiscated and he was not allowed to go back to work. In 2001, the police frequently sent officers to persuade him to write a "Guarantee Statement," threatening to send him to a forced labor camp. Around April or May, Liang Ruiqiang learned that the police had been looking for him everywhere, and he had no choice but to leave home. On September 6, 2004, he went to Mingxing Village in Jiangmentou to distribute materials on the facts about Falun Gong and the police arrested him. A week later, he was sentenced to one year in the Sanshui Force Labor Camp. In less than two months, he went on two hunger strikes to protest the persecution and was often beaten. There were many practitioners in the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp who went on hunger strikes for many days starting on October 17. The guards used hard objects to pry open practitioners' teeth to insert ten-inch long tubes into their esophagus and force-fed them. Practitioners started to vomit blood after the force-feedings, and their conditions have become severe.

5. Shenzhen Forced Labor Camp kidnaps mainstream citizens

Falun Gong practitioner Chen Zeqi used to be the manager in the software development department at the Date Computer Company in Shenzhen. In May 2004, Chen was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong. Practitioner Yao Zhen used to be a chemical engineer in the Shenzhen City Petroleum Group. For practicing Falun Gong, Yao was imprisoned in the Shenzhen City Police Department Jail for about two years. Yao left the jail with righteous thoughts, but at the end of May 2004, he was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. Practitioner Shi Jiyu was the manager in the financial department at a high-tech company in the Shenzhen Technology Industrial Park. Shi was imprisoned in the Shenzhen City Police Department Jail for about one year for practicing Falun Gong. Later, Shi went on a hunger strike for 11 days and then left the jail with righteous thoughts. In June 2004, Shi was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. Practitioner Li Wei was a graduate from the China Police University and used to be an officer in the Shenzhen Airport Police Department. Li was sentenced to a year of forced labor at the end of 2000 in Tuanhe, Beijing. In July 2003, Li was again sentenced to two years of forced labor.
