| The Experience of
A Courageous and Fearless Falun Gong Practitioner
I am 52 years old. I am a retired worker of a plant in Beijing. I have practiced Falun Dafa for more than two years. On the morning of September 9, a fellow practitioner from Tianjin and I went to the Central Committee Appealing Office to request them to deliver a letter I wrote to the central authorities. We did not know the exact location of the Appealing Office, thus we searched around. When we passed by the Tiananmen Square, some policemen stopped us. They asked, "Do you know Li Hongzhi?" I said, "Yes, I do. He is the Teacher of Falun Gong." They asked again, "Do you practice Falun Gong?" I said, "Yes". They then took us to a police car and send us to the Tiananmen Detention Center. When they searched my belongings, they found some books of Falun Gong in my bag. They seized a book "Essentials for Further Advances". I held other books tightly in my hands and said, "Beat me to death before you can get the book." They then stopped trying to seize more books. Later, I succeeded in getting back the book they had taken away. I was detained there with some practitioners from outside Beijing. We recited the poems in "Hong Yin" (a collection of poems by Teacher Li Hongzhi). In the evening, I was transferred to the Majuqiao detention center and a police officer interrogated me there. Below was our conversation. Officer: "Did you practice Falun Gong at the Tiananmen
Square?"
Officer: "Where is the letter?"
Officer: "Do you have a draft?"
Officer: "Whom did you go with?"
Officer: "What's the name of this person?"
Officer: "After the central government banned Falun Gong,
have you ever practiced Falun Gong? Where have you been these days? Have
you ever made connections with other practitioners?"
Officer: "How many times have you got together?"
Officer: "Whose homes did you gather?"
Officer: "Did you go to A's home?"
Officer: "How many times?"
Officer: "Last time in the detention center you wrote
a statement of guarantee, saying that you would not gather and not spread
Falun Dafa. Why did you go to the Appealing Office again?"
Officer: "Will you continue to practice Falun Gong?"
Officer: "You will not give up Falun Gong until you suffer."
The officer required me to turn in the books. I said, "I am still cultivating. I won't give you the books." Officer: "Unless you suffer, you will not be afraid"
Officer: "All right. Let's see." He told me to sign my name and leave my fingerprint. After that, he left me in an office and told me that I would be transferred to Qiaozhuang detention center in the evening. In the Qiaozhuang detention center, I signed my name and left my fingerprint again after going through some formalities. The policemen there also searched my bag. They found my books and also ordered me to turn in the books. I refused to do that. The police officer said, "Take her inside." I said, " I won't give you the books even if you beat me to death." The officer sent me to the No.9 room of Cell 2. After I entered the cell, she ordered the prisoners to beat me in order to force me to hand in the books. I said I would not turn in the books even if they beat me to death. Thus those prisoners came over to seize the books. Some dragged my arms and some dragged my legs. Some punched me and some kicked me. Since there were too many of them beating me, I fell on the ground. They also stripped off my clothes one by one. Although I had tried my best to protect the books, they were finally seized by them. Two people watched on me. I thought since I could not read the book, I could still do the exercises. Thus I started to practice "Falun Standing Stance Exercise". As soon as I raised my hands, they came over to punch me and kick me. They said I was not allowed to practice Falun Gong exercises there. I said I would practice the exercises no matter what. After they got tired of beating me, they went to bed to sleep and asked two prisoners on duty to watch me. As soon as I found that they became sleepy, I started to practice. Then they asked the head of prisoners to beat me. As soon as they went to bed, I would continue to practice. This continued for a whole night. On the second day, the head of prisoners ordered me to "fly". It was a type of punishment, during which one bows down deeply with two arms raising from behind and keeps this very uncomfortable position for a long time. After a little while, one will feel very dizzy. While I was "flying", she also beat my bottom with a wet shoe. Later I refused to "fly". They thus filled my mouth with a cloth used to clean toilets. When the officer came, they reported that I practiced the exercises at night. They then ordered me to recite the rules in jail. I refused to do that because I thought I am a cultivator, and I am not a prisoner. The officer thus used an electric club to shock me and also asked me whether I would continue to practice Falun Gong. I said, "I will practice as long as I am not dead." The officer said, "I won't make you die. I will make you suffer, which is ever worse than death." I said, "I do not care." She then punched me. I thanked her. When she hit me again, I thanked her again. The officer also asked those prisoners to strip my clothes off and pour cold water on my body. On the second day, she asked me to recite the rules again. I still refused to do that. Thus the officer put handcuffs and shackles on me. She dragged me to every cell, and shocked me with the electric club to warn other prisoners, "If anyone of you does not obey me, you will be treated like that." After that, she asked me again whether I would continue to practice Falun Gong. I said I would practice Falun Gong as long as I was not dead from the electric shocks. She said if I continued to practice she would lock me outside in the wind. I told her that I was not afraid. On the evening, I still continued to practice the exercises. Since I could not stand up, I practiced the sitting exercise and recited the poems in "Hong Yin". I kept doing this for several days. Several kindhearted prisoners came over to persuade me, "You are suffering too much. When the officer comes, you may just tell her that you won't practice the exercise anymore." I then introduced the principles of Falun Gong to them. I told them, " Falun Gong teaches one to be a good person. I will never give up my belief in Falun Gong. What Teacher Li has taught us is even more precious than our lives." Later they took care of me by getting food for me, bathing me etc. The officer came and asked the head of cell whether I practiced the exercises or not. The head said "No." When the officer asked me I said, "Yes." The head was very angry and gave me a few punches. She said that she had intended to ask the officer to release me so that I could go home and practice secretly. I thanked her for her kindness. But I could not lie. The officer was very angry, and told those prisoners not to get food for me anymore. She let me work and pick up food with shackles. Since then, I worked very hard and helped other prisoners do many things. One day, the head asked me to write a report of my thoughts. I wrote that, "I want to be a genuine Falun Dafa practitioners. I want to be a genuine student of Teacher Li Hongzhi." The head became very angry again. She said, "Don't write if you don't want to. We do not have many papers. How could I turn it in?!" I said, "I will be responsible for myself. I will not bring trouble to you." When the officer came, the head asked her, "Officer, could I turn this in?" The officer said, "Let her eat the paper." The head thus stuff the paper in my mouth. I chewed it and swallow it. After about one week, the officer called me to her office. She again asked me many questions. I answered all the questions in an open way. Some threatened me jokingly that they would cut my feet off if I continued to practice the exercises. I replied sincerely that I would still practice Falun Gong even if my feet were cut off. Another one said they would then cut my hands off too. I said I would still practice Falun Gong. On the same afternoon, they took off my handcuffs and shackles. After about 15 days, the policemen asked me whether I
would still continue to practice. I said, "Yes." They could not do anything
but release me.
