Wang Zengren, 70 years old, was from Deyang City, Sichuan province. He was repeatedly detained and persecuted by police and 610 Office staff because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong. In May 2003, he was illegally sentenced to forced labor. In Deyang prison he was tortured and drugged. His skull had two holes from beatings, so he was released on medical parole. He passed away on January 29, 2006. More details follow.

Mr. Wang Zengren was from Gaodou village, Yangjia town, Jingyang district, Deyang city. He had retired from the first division of the Mechanical Construction Company in Sichuan province. Before practicing Falun Gong, he had heart disease, diabetes and rectal cancer. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1997, and in two years all his diseases disappeared without further treatment. He felt the happiness of being free of pain. After the persecution began, he was detained three times because he clarified the truth about Falun Gong. Police ransacked his home many times, and confiscated two years' salary totaling 32,000 yuan.

In the last ten days of October 2000, policeman Lin Dexi arrested Mr. Wang. Lin was manipulated by the director of Jingyang district police sub-station, Xiang Huaming. Mr. Wang was handcuffed and detained at the police sub-station for one night. The next day he was sent to Deyang Detention Center and illegally detained for fifteen days.

At around 11 p.m. on August 15, 2001, police Xiang Huaming and Lin Dexi and 12 others went to Gaodou village, Yangjia town and seized Wang Zengren and his wife Tian Xingqiong. They took them to the local police station. Wang and his wife were not allowed to sleep, and they were assaulted by mosquitoes all night. Several Falun Gong books, truth-clarification materials, ID cards and address books were confiscated from their home. On August 16, Wang Zengren was detained at the Deyang City Detention Center for another fifteen days. He was transferred to the detention center in Jingyang district, Deyang city, and detained for another fifteen days.

In 2001, Yangjia town police caught Wang Zenren at the Deyang railway station and sent him to the Deyang City Detention Center for fifteen days. He was held for another four days by Yangjia town police. In the meantime, six to seven people--including police from Yangjia police station and Gaodou village security officer Yu Yunshou--broke down the door to Wang's house and ransacked it.

On August 23, 2002 Wang Zengren was again arrested, this time because he took part in a Falun Gong group practice with 92 people. At around 11:15 a.m. on September 25, 2002, Wang Zengren was deceived by Yangjia police chief Xiang Huaming into going to the Gongnong village police station. Xiang Huaming ordered Gongnong police to send Wang Zengren to Deyang city detention center. He was illegally detained there for nine months and in the middle of May 2003, he was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. His pension was also stopped.

On June 30, 2003, Wang Zengren was detained at Deyang city prison (95th Plant at Huangxu town), where the guards tortured him. The following is what Wang Zengren said before his death: "On the morning of August 4, two guards told me to go to the health office at the gate. One of them named Cui said I should stand by the window. He then told me to bend toward the windowsill. He wiped my head with an unknown drug and I fainted suddenly."

Wang Zengren was injected with unknown drugs and was kept unconscious for 12 days. He was incontinent, suffered anal erosion, his legs were swollen and he could not walk. Wang's head had two holes in it from the beatings he received, and as a result of all the persecution he suffered, Wang can no longer take care of himself. Wang Zengren was released on medical parole and he passed away on January 29, 2006.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jizhi, age 51, is one of the victims of the November 2005 rape case in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. In early March 2006, policemen from the Zhuozhou City 610 Office and National Security agents arrested her again. Her daughter was also arrested. Due to severe mental and physical trauma, Ms. Liu Jizhi has shown symptoms of a mental collapse.

On the afternoon of November 25, 2005, Ms. Liu Jizhi was brutally beaten and raped. Her buttocks and legs were covered with bruises

At around 8 p.m. on November 24, 2005, the CCP Dongchengfang Town Political and Judiciary Committee members and policemen stormed into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jizhi's home by climbing over the outside wall. They ransacked her house, arrested her, and took her and three other practitioners (Ms. Han Yuzhi, Mr. Wei Baoliang, and Mr. Wang Helin) to the Dongchengfang Town Police Station. The practitioners were brutally beaten and tortured. Policeman He Xuejian grabbed Ms. Liu's breasts with a filthy smile and said, "Am I being a bad guy?" On the afternoon of the next day, He Xuejian took Ms. Liu Jizhi to his dorm, beat her repeatedly with a rubber baton, and proceeded to rape her. 610 Officer Wang Huiqi witnessed the whole process until his colleague He Xuejian began to strip off Ms. Liu's pants. He Xuejian raped another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Han Yuzhi (age 41), in his dorm after he raped Ms. Liu. He Xuejian's roommate, policeman Wang Zengjun, was lying on his bed the whole time. He watched his roommate rape the two women and did nothing to stop it. Officials even extorted three thousand yuan from Ms. Liu's husband after the rape.

The shameless behavior of He Xuejian is an insult to himself and his family. He raped two ladies of his mother's generation.

News of the rapes provoked condemnation from all over the world. The criminal He Xuejian has been detained, but the CCP regime put the rape victims and witnesses on a wanted list with a 100,000 yuan reward on each. These practitioners have become destitute and homeless to avoid certain arrest in their homes. By the end of 2005, the CCP had arrested more than ten practitioners in connection with this incident in Zhuozhou City.

According to reliable sources, under huge international pressure, rapist He Xuejian has been detained. On February 23, 2006, CCP officials from Baoding City had a meeting in Zhuozhou City, urging Zhuozhou City Police Department Headquarters to take responsibility to arrest the rape victims and all witnesses before He Xuejian's trial date. They want to destroy the evidence and set the villain free, just as the CCP always does.

Ms. Liu Jizhi has shown signs of a nervous breakdown because of the enormous physical and mental trauma she has endured since last November. Her daughter had to leave school (she was due to take college entrance exams soon) to take care of her. They were working in a laundromat while hiding from the officials.

They have now been arrested. Zhuozhou City 610 Office and National Security agents from the Zhuozhou City Police Department brought them in.

Since January 26, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained at Daqing prison have been on a hunger strike to protest the torture inflicted on them. Police are torturing them through force-feeding and strictly blocking news about this. The current condition of these practitioners is unknown.

According to sources, practitioners on hunger strike include Pu Fanwei, Jin Sheng, Wang Yudong, Zhang Zhi, Guan Zhaoqi, Zhang Zidong, Jiang Derong, Li Ronghong, Zhong Zhaoqin, Zou Guoyan, Wang Junfeng, Deng Qingshan, Yao Bin, Li Chao, Li Zhanbin, Zhai Zhibin, Zhao Yu'an, Zhang Xingye and others.

The head of the prison Wang Yongxiang and others incited the director of the prison hospital Gao Qing and deputy director Huang Zhiwei to force-feed highly concentrated saltwater once a day to practitioners on hunger strike. They assigned each prison ward to forcefully take practitioners to the hospital to receive force-feeding and intravenous infusion. The force-feeding is very brutal. Many prison police and inmates use this as a chance to torture practitioners. When practitioner Jin Sheng suffered nose bleeds and vomited blood as a result of force-feeding, Huang Zhiwei still did not stop. Practitioners subjected to force-feeding suffered unimaginable pain. Their lives are in great danger. Few of their families have had the courage to seek their release. Consequently, the vicious police torture practitioners without any fear.

As of February 11, practitioners Zhang Zhi, Guan Zhaoqi, Wang Yudong, Li Ronghong, Zhao Yu'an, Zhang Xingye, Pu Fanwei were still unable to get out of bed. They were extremely weak. Pu Fanwei was nearly unconscious and Zhang Zhi was in critical condition. At present, Daqing prison strictly blocks news regarding their situation. Therefore the current condition of these practitioners is unknown.

Mr. Ning Jun was 50 years old and lived on the Xiertiao Road in the Xian District of Mudanjiang City. Mr. Ning had a firm belief in Falun Gong and was sentenced to forced labor several times. In the labor camp he suffered inhuman torture many times. In September 2002, he was reported to the police for "clarifying truth" in the Mudanjiang City. He was arrested and sent to  Aimin Police Station, where he was tortured until he almost died. The Aimin Public Security Subdivision was notified twice by the detention center that Mr. Ning's condition was critical, but the detention center authorities refused to respond. They sentenced him to five years of forced labor. At the beginning of 2004, Mr. Ning was sent to Mudanjiang Prison. He was in critical condition in the prison in September 2004 and passed away on August 12, 2005.

Mr. Ning Jun was sentenced to forced labor because he appealed on behalf of Falun Gong in Beijing

In September 1999, Mr. Ning Jun went to Beijing with a fellow practitioner to appeal for Falun Gong. He was arrested and sent to the No. 2 Detention Center in Mudanjiang. In December he was transferred to a brainwashing center. Mr. Ning had a firm belief in Falun Gong. He was sent back to the detention center on January 2, 2000, and sentenced to two years of forced labor.

In July 2000, the Sidao Forced Labor Camp in Mudanjiang forced 20 practitioners to form a "study group." It was actually a brainwashing session in disguise. Policeman Qiu Chen persecuted practitioners by forcing them to execute military drills. When the camp authorities found out that practitioner Mr. Song Yan, who is still in Mudanjiang Prison, possessed a copy of Zhuan Falun, they beat him. Police chief Zhang Junrong and guard Li Longyu searched all the practitioners and beat them. Zhang Junrong personally beat Mr. Ning Jun; he slapped his face and punched him repeatedly. Practitioner Li Qiliang suffered a nervous breakdown and remained mentally disordered due to the persecution.

Because Mr. Ning was so brutally abused in the detention center, he developed peritoneal dropsy, an enlarged abdomen, bloody urine and difficulty walking. When the authorities still could not change his belief, they sent him back to the prison. He was later sent to the hospital and diagnosed with liver problems and peritoneal dropsy. The labor camp had no choice but to release him on medical grounds.

He stayed at home for only five months. Manager Ma Libiao and guard Li Longyu deceived him into going back to the labor camp, where they held him for another nine months. He was finally released on October 11, 2001.

Mr. Ning Jun was reported while clarifying the truth

On September 20, 2002, someone reported Mr. Ning while he was clarifying the truth in Hongqi Hospital. He was tortured day and night, but the police still couldn't get any information from him. When he stated, "You can do nothing to change me, even the labor camp could not change me," the police took him to the labor camp and the people there recognized him. He was transferred to Aimin Police Station. The police there tortured him for several days and nights. He developed generalized edema as a result. The director of the Political Security Department, who had known Mr. Ning for years, told him, "If you turn in your computer, printer and copy machine, we'll release you." But even after they received the computer, printer, and copy machine, they still held Mr. Ning in the No. 2 Detention Center in Mudanjiang.

Mr. Ning was a target in the No. 2 Detention Center. The director, Liu Jun, and police officer Wang Qiang ordered informer Fu Junhong and three other inmates to monitor Mr. Ning 24 hours a day and to deprive him of sleep. Officer Wang Qiang locked him to the floor with shackles, a procedure used only for death row inmates. The authorities gave him less than two sips of water and one small piece of bun a day. The authorities did not release him until his leg was swollen nearly to the size of his waist.

By the end of 2003, the detention center had notified the Aimin Police Station twice about Mr. Ning's critical condition, but the Bureau refused to respond. Director Liu Jun and policeman Wang Qiang pretended to release him on medical grounds but instead send him to Mudanjiang Prison before he recovered his health.

Mr. Ning was sentenced to five years and sent to Mudanjiang Prison before the 2004 Chinese New Year. In September 2004, he had a physical exam performed by a city hospital. They declared that he was basically dying. The prison administration did not send him to the PoliceHospital until November, after they had extorted money from Mr. Ning's family.

After coming home, Mr. Ning Jun began studying the principle of Falun Gong and improving his character, sharing experiences and helping fellow practitioners. He continued to clarify the truth about the persecution, to write letters to practitioners in prison, and to help the practitioners who made mistakes in the past. He also contacted practitioners outside the Mudanjiang area, helping everybody to improve together. But the long-term persecution had destroyed his health, and he passed away on August 12, 2005.

Practitioner Ms. Mi Changrong of Donghuayuan Village, Yunyang Town, Nanzhao County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, died on July 29, 2005, as a result of the persecution. The police and local officials had subjected her to threats and harassment over an extended period of time. They had also confiscated her home, and on many occasions, they had arrested her husband Li Xingcheng or put him in a forced labor camp. On June 8, 2005, they had again arrested Mr. Li.

Ms. Mi was 54 years old. Before she learned Falun Gong in 1997, she had nephritis and was very weak. She took medicine often, but nothing helped. After she practiced Falun Gong for two months, her illness disappeared and she became strong.

When Ms. Mi's husband clarified the truth to his students, his co-worker, who did not want to hear the truth, reported him to the authorities. In the afternoon on May 30, 2005, National Religion Team Chief Yang Junzhou led officers of the Nanzhao County Police to seize Ms. Mi's home. On June 8, the police arrested her husband at the Yunyang Railroad Station and then imprisoned him in the Nanzhao County Detention Center.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, the authorities have imprisoned Ms. Mi's husband or put him in a labor camp on several occasions. They also have extorted 30,000 yuan from him. On June 9, Ms. Mi sent clothing to her husband. In May, she requested her husband's wages from Yunyang Town School Committee Director Zhang Chunzheng, but he responded by threatening her.

After losing her source of financial support and hearing that her husband might be sentenced to prison yet again, Ms. Mi suffered greatly in both mind and body. She died in the Xiangdong Machine Factory Staff Hospital on July 29, 2005.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Qinghua from Zhuolu County was arrested on January 7, 2006. She is currently detained at Daxing County's Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing. The persecution has left her mentally traumatized.

Ms. Zhang, 40 years old, was a resident of Wangzhuang Village in Baodai Township, Zhuolu County. She began Falun Gong practice in 1999 and firmly believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She is a friendly and caring person. To make a living, two years ago she and her family moved to the Southern Zhangdai Village areas of Donggaocun Town in the Pinghu District close to Beijing.

On January 5, 2006, Ms. Zhang used her boss's telephone to call practitioner Yang Guilan's home in Zhuolu County. Ms. Yang had been persecuted and left home prior to the call. She asked Yang's daughter, "Is your mother home? This is Rehua (her nickname) and I am in the Pinghu District area." The next day, on January 6, someone called Ms. Zhang's phone and asked, "Are you Rehua?" Later the phone rang several times. Whenever Ms. Zhang answered the phone, there was silence on the other end. On January 7, six police officers from Pinghu District Police Department rushed into Ms. Zhang's place, searched her home, confiscated her Falun Gong books and truth-clarification flyers, and arrested her.

On February 18, Beijing forced labor officials called Ms. Zhang's home and asked if Ms. Zhang had either a personal history or a family history of psychosis. After 40 days of not knowing her whereabouts, the family learned that Ms. Zhang was detained at the Daixing County's Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp and had been sentenced to two years of forced labor. The officials informed the family that she had become mentally disordered.

Ms. Zhang was persecuted because agents from the 610 Office at the National Security Office in Zhuolu County were monitoring practitioner Yang Guilan's telephone.

Zhuolu County and Pinggu District 610 Office agents, as well as National Security officials, made a joint effort to persecute Ms. Zhang so that she suffered serious mental trauma. We are Falun Gong practitioners and do not have any enemies. We hope that the 610 Office agents, as well as those from the National Security Bureau, treasure their consciences and stop persecuting Falun Gong. They should be kind toward Falun Gong practitioners and treasure the blessings and peace that Falun Gong bestows from the heavens to everyone who believes that Falun Gong is good. We hope that everyone will help to secure Ms. Zhang's release.

Qianjin Prison in Beijing is a huge prison administered by the Qinghe Branch of Beijing's Prison Management Bureau. Any male practitioner who is a permanent resident of Beijing, when sentenced to imprisonment, is to be detained there.

Currently, 150 to 160 practitioners are being detained in this prison. Among them are Qinghua University lecturers and students, workers, farmers, policemen, and soldiers. After arriving, they are locked in small cells (three meters long and one and a half meters wide, about 10 by 5 feet) and monitored 24 hours a day by criminal inmates in rotating shifts. The police also come to question them and try to "reform" the practitioners and ask if they admit to their "crimes."

The police pressure the practitioners and put them under constant duress. For example, the police give them two options: One, to admit to their "crimes" and their circumstances will be "relaxed" (that is, after going through their "procedures" the practitioner can return to the cell) or Two, not to admit to their "crimes" and their circumstances will become more severe. In this case they first lengthen the interrogation time and deprive the practitioners of sleep or only let them sleep for an hour or two. Beatings and verbal abuse follow. They compel practitioners to sit on a small stool that is only 12 centimeters (about five inches) high and prohibit them from moving, except when eating or going to the washroom.

Since the year 2000, dozens of practitioners have been cruelly abused and mistreated. Between 2000 and 2001 the evildoers used more than one electric baton at the same time to shock practitioners who refused to be "reformed." Many also beat practitioners at the same time. The electric shocks made some practitioners lose consciousness or they became physically handicapped from the beatings. Prison Chief Zhang Fu personally led police to use electric batons to shock practitioners and also beat those who refused "reformation." Later he was fired from his post for gambling. Some practitioners were made to wear strait jackets for going on a protest hunger strike.

As the evil in other dimensions became largely eliminated, the environment did gradually improve. But the captors did not let up for a single day in persecuting practitioners. Since 2003, the police have not beaten practitioners publicly. They have incited criminal inmates to beat the practitioners. From purely physical punishments, the persecution has escalated to include both mental and physical torture. They use both coercion and enticement to make the criminal inmates carry out corporal punishment and insult and maltreat practitioners. Essentially, the criminals benefit if they cooperate. They don't have to go out for forced labor, yet they can earn more points and reduce their prison terms. As a result, many criminal inmates fight to get the "lucrative" task of persecuting practitioners. The more cruel and debased the methods the criminal use, the more the prison police reward him.

The police also get credits, rewards and a chance of promotion for active persecution. Thus they cruelly abuse, mistreat, and torture practitioners.

Some practitioners continue to stand firm and protest the persecution. They publicly declare that their previous agreements to be "reformed" were against their conscience and should not have been issued. These practitioners are persecuted again. No prison information is permitted to reach the outside. None of the practitioners are able to study the principles of Falun Gong except for those that they have previously memorized.

This place is a very terrible environment. The deceit, shamelessness and cruelty of the Chinese Communist Party are blatantly obvious on a daily basis. The atmosphere of fear and hate continually proliferates and infects every one.

Cao Lihua, political head of the Ninth Team, and middle team leader Chen Jun were given merits for successfully "reforming" some Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners had to suffer from abuse and mistreatment because of these two individuals. Currently practitioners in the prison are detained in teams one, nine and twelve.

The Harbin Women's Prison, also known as Heilongjiang Provincial Women's Prison, has ruthlessly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. Torture has maimed many practitioners here, but the guards are still not satisfied and thus continue to persecute these practitioners. This report describes some of the cases.

Torture Caused Cao Yingchun to Contract Fatal Illness

Mrs. Cao Yingchun, 52, is from Mudanjiang City. In 2002, officers Chen Xianrui and Chen Guang of the Mudanjiang Police department arrested and tortured Mrs. Cao. She sustained several broken ribs and fractured bones. Mrs. Cao's health has not improved since her release.

In October 2004, police arrested Mrs. Cao again and illegally sentenced her to eleven years of imprisonment. At that time Mrs. Cao was unable to take care of herself.

Torture began as soon as Mrs. Cao arrived at the Harbin Women's Prison. Guards shackled her wrists to her ankles. Fifteen days of continuous torture put Mrs. Cao in critical condition. She was sent to the prison clinic. At that time she could not even move her jaw. Whatever the nurse fed Mrs. Cao all leaked out. Her condition did not improve in two months, so the prison sent her to the Harbin Second Hospital.

Diagnosis indicated that Mrs. Cao had contracted myasthenia gravis, a fatal disease that is practically incurable. Mrs. Cao had this disease prior to practicing Falun Gong, and had spent over 100,000 yuan on related medical bills. Her health improved significantly by practicing Falun Gong.

In the prison, Mrs. Cao continued to study the principle of Falun Gong and do the exercises. Under orders from the authorities, an inmate named Xiu Shufen frequently beat and swore at such steadfast practitioners. Once time Xiu even stuffed a wet towel into Mrs. Cao's mouth to silence her.

Practitioners Guan Shuyun, Li Yushu, and Liu Shufen Hunger-Strike in Protest

Falun Gong practitioner Guan Shuyun was tortured by suffocation four times. She went on a 21-day hunger strike to protest. During this time the guards suffocated Guan again. Currently Guan is in solitary confinement.

Falun Gong practitioner Li Yushu is illegally detained in the Harbin Women's Prison. She held a hunger strike for over a year, during which time she was frequently force fed via a stiff rubber tube inserted through her nose into her stomach.

Falun Gong practitioner Liu Shufen, 32, held a hunger strike for seven months. She was transferred from prison zone No. 4 to solitary confinement in the prison clinic. Inmates Li Guixiang and Wang Xin constantly monitor Ms. Liu.

Inmate Xiu Shufen does evil deeds

The inmate named Xiu Shufen, originally the leader of the so-called transformation team in the Harbin Women's prison, enthusiastically persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners who refused to submit to the persecution were deprived of sleep. Practitioner Wu Yulan was almost tortured to death by Xiu. Xiu is now in charge of torturing practitioners in the prison clinic.

Falun Gong practitioners have been tirelessly clarifying the truth about the persecution and defamation of Falun Gong, and more and more people have thus begun awakening. In particular, the global dissemination of "The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" has inspired 8.7 million people to renounce the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. The CCP has completely lost its rationality, covering up the truth at all costs and hiring retired workers and unemployed people to work as security guards and patrolmen. The number of such people has steadily increased.

Each building area (there are several building areas in each residential area) is required to have four persons to monitor and patrol. These people are given binoculars and powerful flashlights for them to patrol around the clock. They patrol a building area almost once every one to two hours. Each residential area has a public security office and a Party committee that takes charge of so-called public security administration. But if incidents such as theft or robbery occur, they will not be responsible for the household's damage and compensation; nevertheless they keep collecting fees from residents for public security administration.

Jinchang City's Joint Defense Division also organized about 40 people just to follow Falun Gong practitioners. They also selected so-called "voluntary informants," who are neighbors of Falun Gong practitioners or who wait in front of or behind the practitioners' buildings, or on the same floor or the adjacent floor of practitioners in order to monitor them. They are responsible for recording a practitioner's every activity. In order to prevent people from reading truth clarification flyers or signs about the Nine Commentaries, each building is assigned a building monitor (or administrator) and a Party contact person to monitor everyone living in the building. For advertisements or housekeeping services posted on corridors, outer walls or in public places, they seldom tear them down, but if they see truth-clarification flyers, they will try all means to destroy them.

Unemployed people in charge of monitoring and patrolling

There is a secret stronghold of National Security agents in North Goutou Village, south suburb of Baoding, Hebei Province. It is known that a few Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured there. National Security agents sneak in and out furtively, no doubt out of guilty consciences. All prisoners have their heads covered when they arrive, so they can't tell where they have been taken.

If you go south on Chaoyao Road from Baoding, a little over ten Li (a Chinese unit of length. 1 Li = 1/2 kilometre) past Liudao Crossing, pass the Great Wall Automobile Group, you will see the arch of South Goutou Village on the west side of the road. (Picture 1) Across the street is a road leading east. (Picture 2) If you follow this road, you will see a large compound on the north side. The National Security stronghold is inside the compound, which bears a sign reading "Baoding Dongxing Cement Products Ltd" at the gate. Warnings at the entrance read, "Do not enter! Hunting dogs will bite. Trespassers at your own risk. Please speak aloud (for help) if someone needs to enter." On the west side of the compound is the gate of a fire station. (Picture 3)

Two modern buildings located close to the north wall of the compound are occupied by National Security agents. (See pictures below.) The pictures clearly show the electric wire on the top of the wall. There are some cypress and pine trees in the compound. You cannot see what is going on inside, even from the top of the wall. 1. [Haidian District, Beijing City] Several Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

In the past several days, practitioner Ms. Zhao Yan was first arrested when passing out truth clarifying materials and her mother was arrested soon after. Ms. Zhan Aiping and her son, Xu Chong, were the arrested, and the material production center was destroyed. Shortly after that Ms. Xu Kun and her over 70-year-old mother were arrested and taken from their home. Policemen ransacked their home and took away the computer, printer, etc. Ms. Yan Huiqin was also arrested on the evening of February 12, 2006, by policemen from the Qinglongqiao Station.

2. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tang Yunli Arrested and Taken to Rongcheng City Prison

CCP Sixth Village Secretary Yu Jianxiu (male) of Chengshanwei Town, Rongcheng City, Shandong Province, reported practitioner Ms. Tang Yunli to policemen of the town station. At around 10 a.m. on February 22, 2006, Rongcheng City 610 Office agent Xing Jianping (female) lead a group of about six people to break into Ms. Tang Yunli's home to arrest her, ransack her house, and confiscate her computer and all of her Falun Gong books, as well as around 3000 yuan in cash. Ms. Tang Yunli has been detained in the Rongcheng City Detention Center.

3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Xu Lai Arrested

On the morning of February 15, 2006, practitioner Mr. Xu Lai, an employee of the Navy Engineering University, received a phone call from the Neighborhood Administration requesting that he go to the office. Mr. Xu refused it. National Security agents from Qiaokou District, together with policemen from the Hanshuiqiao Street Station and Neighborhood Administration workers, barged into Mr. Xu's home and arrested him. Mr. Xu Lai has been locked in the Qiaokou District Brainwashing Center.

4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Practitioners Ms. Zhu Fangxia, Ms. Chen Yuping, and Ms. Shi Xiuping Were Arrested Recently and Their Homes Ransacked

On June 23, 2005, practitioner Mr. Xia Shige from Fengjiazhuang Village, Xuzhuang Township, Jizhou City, Hebei Province, was arrested when passing out the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. After being detained for more than eight months, he was sentenced to prison recently, but is still being detained in the Jizhou City Detention Center. Jizhou City Court Deputy Head Xia Qizeng (male) is handling his case.

7. [Chifeng City, Inner-Mongolia Autonomous District] Ms. Wang Shulan Detained in Ningcheng County Detention Center

On February 22, 2006, practitioner Ms. Wang Shulian, an employee of the Ningcheng County CCP School, was arrested and taken from her home by Ningcheng County state security agents. She is now detained in the Ningcheng County Detention Center.

8. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Shuzhen Detained

On January 17, 2006, practitioner Ms. Yang Shuzhen was arrested and taken from her home by policemen from Qianyang Township Police Station because she went to the county government to clarify the truth. She is now detained in Yi County Detention Center.

9. [Shanghai City] Practitioner Ms. Yang Xiuzhen (an Elderly Woman) from the Hongkou District Has Been Locked in a Brainwashing Center in the Qingpu District since January 29. No Information about Her Is Available

10. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Many Practitioners Arrested Due to Pan Yumei's Report

"Collaborator" Pan Yumei (female), from Zhaojia Village, Dongjiang Town, Longkou City, has reported Falun Gong practitioners many times. Practitioner Ms. Yin Shuxian was sentenced to three years forced labor in 2003 because of her report; practitioner Mr. Tang Zhuqiang was sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2004, also due to her report.

In order to brainwash practitioners in Zhaojia Village, Pan had one collaborator pretend to escape with handcuffs from the prison and hide in the home of two practitioners.
The collaborator lied and told the practitioners that she wanted to read the Falun Gong books and do the exercises, and then lead 610 officers to arrest the practitioners. These two practitioners escaped arrest but had to leave home in order to avoid being arrested at home.

On January 29, 2006, Chinese New Year's Day, Pan sent a cell phone message to 610 Officer Wang Qi that reported practitioners Mr. Tang Zhulong and his wife, Xie Yunlan. Police arrested Mr. Tang Zhulong and Ms. Xie Yunlan on New Year's Day evening and ignored the fact that Mr. Tang's mother had a heart attack because she was threatened. The couple is still detained in the Zhangjiagou Detention Center.

11. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Hui Is Missing

Jiaozhou City 610 Office Head Wang Yonghai (male) has been openly passing out flyers, posting cartoons, and holding poster displays that slander Falun Gong since he took the position about three months ago. He has also had many practitioners arrested.

Practitioner Mr. Zhao Hui has been missing since February 12, 2006, and no one knows his whereabouts.

12. [Hongjiang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Guo Qiping Arrested

On February 17, 2006, practitioner Mr. Guo Qiping from Hongjiang City, Hunan Province, was arrested and taken from his home by Political Security Division Head Zhou Wei (male) of the Hongjiang City Department and 610 Office Head Huang Lin (male). He is now detained in the Hongjiang District Detention Center.

13. [Pingyuan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Qinglan Arrested and Detained

On February 21, 2006, practitioner Ms. Wang Qinglan (an elderly woman) was arrested. On February 22, her family went to request that the National Security agents release her. The agents not only refused to let her family visit her but also locked her in a secret place. Her safety is now in jeopardy.

14. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Sun Xuchao (male) Persecuting Practitioners

CCP Xiadingjai Town Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Sun Xuchao (male) has ordered 610 Office policemen to ransack practitioners' homes without legal procedures.

The first time, he directed policemen to ransack the home of practitioner Ms. Guo Fuxiang, 76 years old, and beat her till bruises covered her body. (See /emh/articles/2005/9/24/65244.html.)

The second time Sun Xuchao directed police to ransack several practitioners' homes on the evening of September 2, 2005. Policemen also arrested practitioners Ms. Wang Xiuyan and Ms. Li Renqing and had both of them sentenced to two years of forced labor.

The third time, on the evening of November 4, 2005, Sun Xuchao instructed Xiadingjia Town Legal Official Meng Zhiyi (male) to lead about seven workers and policemen to ransack practitioners Ms. Chi Guirong, Mr. Yu Xibo, and Ms. Li Mei's homes. They also arrested Mr. Li Shiyu and his wife Li Yuhua. Both of them declared that they had stopped practicing after the persecution began, and locked them in Longkou City's 610 Office Brainwashing Center.

15. [Shenzhou City, Guandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Zhang Ruili Missing from Overseas Travel

16. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Guangwen, Transferred to a Labor Camp in Benxi City, Now Missing

Practitioner Mr. Li Guangwen from Lishi Township, Fushun City was arrested by policemen from the Lishi Township Station in February 2004 when clarifying the truth. He was sentenced to three years of forced labor after being detained for 15 days.

When he was in the Wujiapu Forced Labor Camp located in Fushun City, he was tortured until he was very weak and as thin as a skeleton just because he refused to accept the brainwashing or cooperate with the evil. He was transferred to a labor camp located in Benxi City, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

17. [Hebei Province] Ms. Ding Shumei Cruelly Tortured in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Ms. Ding Shumei has been imprisoned in the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp since October 2005. She has been tortured severely because she is firmly practicing and refuses to accept the brainwashing. On February 14, 2006, her hands were cuffed to a metal bed and she was brutally beaten. The guards said that one electric baton shock had no effect on her, so they used four electric batons simultaneously, each time lasting several hours, causing her skin to peel off and forming scars all over her body. She is still being tortured.

Those who participated in the torture include Warden Li (gender unknown); female guards Liu Huili, Shi Hongxia, and Wei Hongling; plus several male guards.

18. [Fuyu County, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Enhui Arrested

On February 21, 2006, Dongyu Village Head Gao Dabo (male) from Yushugou Township, Fuyu County, led five policemen (three in plainclothes) as they stormed into practitioner Mr. Wang Enhui's home, broke the locks, took away Falun Gong materials, and arrested him. Mr Wang' wife tried to stop them, but was knocked almost unconscious by policemen. Mr. Wang's current whereabouts is unknown.

19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Arrested and Detained

On the evening of February 23, 2006, practitioners Ms. Xu and her daughter were reported when passing out Falun Gong truth clarifying materials on Shandong Street and Fuqiang Street. The authorities put them into custody in the Xinghua Police Station. They had Nine Commentaries discs with them. Her daughter escaped from the station.

20. [Miyun County, Beijing City] Mr. Li Hailin Arrested

On February 21, 2006, two policemen from the Henanzhai Town Station 610 Office arrested practitioner Mr. Li Hailin, who was working in the orchard. Police said they found two Falun Gong books at Mr. Li Hailin's home. Ms. Zhang Xiuying and another male practitioner (name unknown) were also arrested

21. [Qidong County, Henan Province] Ms. Zou Died after Being Forced to Give up His Falun Gong Practice

Ms. Zou Xiulian was 66 years old and lived in Luoyakuang, Zeshan Village, Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County. She started practicing Falun Gong in September 1998. She used to have late stage diabetes and could not walk, could not eat much, and could not take care of herself. After practicing Falun Gong, her diabetes miraculously disappeared along with most of her symptoms. She was very happy.

After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, local government workers closely followed the CCP and Jiang's regime to threaten Ms. Zou. They told her she could not her practice any longer. If she did, they would have her two sons and two daughters-in-law dismissed from their jobs. They came to her door constantly and forced her give up the practice. Her health worsened, and she died in February 2000.

22. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Fu Hai and Others Arrested and Detained

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Fu Hai, Ms. Liu Ying, and Mr. Li Min were arrested recently. They were first detained in the Tonghe County Detention Center and then transferred to the Fangzheng County Detention. The details are unknown.

23. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Chunfang Arrested When Teaching in Elementary School

Practitioner Ms. Guo Chunfang was a teacher employed by the Huima Town Second Elementary School in Daying County, Suining City. At 8 a.m. on February 20, 2006, when she was teaching her class, 610 Office Head Xiao (gender unknown), Jiang Qiong (female), and two others from Suining City Natioanl Security Group dragged her into a police vehicle and arrested her. No one knows where she is currently.

25. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Liu Wanqiu Detained in Gansu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Ms. Liu Wanqiu, in her 50s, was arrested by police from the Baiyin Street Station in October 2005 when passing out truth clarifying materials. She was sent to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. Because she never gave up her belief and refused to write the three statements, she was secretly sentenced to forced labor and is now detained in the Gansu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp in Yuzhong County.

26. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yan Fuxiang Arrested

On the morning of February 24, 2006, Xiliucun Town Government workers harassed practitioner Mr. Yan Fuxiang by illegally ransacking his house in Puchihe Village when no one was home. Mr. Yan was working, and his wife was doing business at the market. They arrested Mr. Yan at his workplace in the afternoon and put him in custody in the Xiliucun Town Police Station.

27. [Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tian Biying Arrested

At around 11 a.m. on February 20, 2006, Chongzhou City National Security agents arrested practitioner Ms. Tian Biying in the Dongmen Tibet Base located in Chongzhou City. Four policemen carried Ms. Tian onto a vehicle, ransacked her home, and sent her to the Chongzhou City Police Department.

28. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] On February 21, 2006, Practitioner Ms. Wang Xinmei from Hezuo Street Block in the Qiaoxi District of Shijiazhuang City Never Returned Home; She Could Have Been Arrested

29. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Practitioners Tortured in Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp in Taiyuan City

Practitioner Ms. Ma Yueying has been sentenced to three years of forced labor because she is firmly practicing Falun Gong. While locked in the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp, she has been beaten, forced to stand for a long time until both her feet and legs are swollen, and subjected to sleep deprivation. Guards Liu Zhongmei, Meng Jing, and Shi Jian (all female) have brutally beaten Ms. Ma Yueying, and they encouraged prisoners to beat Ms. Ma as well. Ms. Ma is now forced to do labor 13 hours per day.

Practitioner Ms. Jin Jing has been tortured by being deprived of to sleep for several months. She was cruelly beaten because she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good" and "The CCP is a cult." Guards ordered prisoners to stuff her mouth with a dirty towel, handcuff her, and push her outside in the cold to freeze her.

Practitioner Ms. Li Runfang has also been deprived of sleep for several months. Drug-addicted prisoners dragged her down some stairs to beat her and knocked her teeth out. She is also being forced to labor for 13 hours per day.

30. [Tongcheng County, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Huiyuan Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Wang Huiyuan is in her 40s and lived in the Tongcheng County Court Family Housing (in the same yard). At around 8 a.m. on February 21, 2006, Tongcheng County 610 Office and her employer, the County Court, arrested her from her home and locked her in the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center.

31.[Yushu City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Jiao Shoutong from Yushu City Is Being Tortured in the Fenjin Forced Labor Camp Located in Changchun City

Since April 2005, many practitioners have been detained, including (from the Hexi District) Ms. Cao Shumin (her son Bi Jinhua has been rescued), Ms. Bai Li, Ms. Wang Yirong, Ms. Huang Jianying, Ms. Hu Huiyang, Ms. Guo Defen, Ms. He Jintao, Ms. Han and Mr. and Mrs. Qiu; (from the Heping District) Ms. Jiang Lili; (from the Hedong District) Ms. Ren Fangqin, Ms. Han Shujuan; and (the from Hebei District) Ms. Jiang.

33. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qiao Hongyan Arrested

At around 10 a.m., on February 23, 2006, policemen from the Tiedong Station stormed into practitioner Ms. Qiao Hongyan's home, claiming to be conducting an "investigation." They arrested her and detained her in the Nanshan Detention Center in Shulan City.

34. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Fengling and Mr. Dong Quanhao Arrested

On the evening of February 20, 2006, practitioners Ms. Yu Fengling and Mr. Dong Quanhao from Gaoxiandian Village in the Fengnan District were both reported when passing out truth clarifying materials in Wanglanzhuang Town in the Fengnan District. They were both arrested by policemen from the Wanglanzhuang Town Station and are now detained in the Fengnan District Detention Center.

On September 13, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Qiu Jishun and Ms. Su Fengqin were both arrested by the National Security agents of Qingyuan County Police Department in Fushun City. They were sentenced to five or six years in prison before January 29, 2006 (the Chinese New Year Day) and they have both appealed their cases.

38. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yin Anbang Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Practitioner Mr. Yin Anbang from Harbin City clarified the truth to his class at the Far East Institute of Harbin University of Science and Technology and was reported. He was arrested on November 13, 2005 and sentenced to four years in prison on February 5, 2006 by Daoli District Court in a closed trial.

39. [Hebei Province] Ms. Ding Shumei and Others Shocked with Electric Batons in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp

On February 14, 2006, while detained in the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, practitioner Ms. Ding Shumei, 45 and a teacher from Zhangjiakou City, was reported doing Falun Gong exercises during the lunch hour by "personal cangues." (1) Guards used electric batons to shock her with five batons simultaneously, and handcuffed her hands behind her back to the bed for an entire day. Most of the practitioners detained there have been tortured with electric baton shocks.

40. [Baiyin City, Gansu Province] At 6 p.m. on January 6, 2006, Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Ligui Was Arrested When Passing Out Truth Clarifying Materials

41. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jin Jingji Still Detained

Practitioner Ms. Jin Jingji from Tumen City was arrested and taken from her home in March 2004. She has been tortured in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp ever since, even though her term ended on February 28, 2006. Guards again tried to force her to sign a statement to give up practicing Falun Gong before releasing her, but she refused. The camp administration called her family and said that her term was being extended and she would not be released.

42. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Ms. Wang Yanxin and Ms. Zhang Huiru

Practitioner Ms. Wang Yanxin is 43 years old and was an employee of the Jiamusi City Department Store since 1987. Many times she has received merit awards, such as City or Province Level Role Model and "Best Employee with Ten Moral Advances." At around 1 p.m. on February 20, 2006, 610 Office police from the Jiamusi City Department, the Xiangyang District Department, and store security arrested Ms. Wang Yanxin, took her from her work, and ransacked her home. She is now missing.

At around 2 p.m. on February 20, 2006, a practitioner saw a police vehicle drive off from practitioner Ms. Zhang Huiru's home. It is possible she was arrested.

43. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Dr. Liu Boyang Tortured to Death

On October 28, 2005, practitioner Mr. Liu Boyang, a doctor who worked in the Qianwei Hospital was arrested and tortured to death (see /emh/articles/2005/11/23/67155.html). The Hospital Administration lied to employees in a meeting, stating that he had committed suicide. All of the hospital employees are still deceived.

44. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Zaiqi Arrested

On February 23, 2006, practitioner Mr. Zhang Zaiqi from Wujialouzi Village, Yang Zhuang Town, Yishui County, was reported for posting a couplet on the gate to his house that said, "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance is good." He is now detained in the Yishui County Detention Center.

45. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Meng Qingwei and Others Arrested

On the morning of December 22, 2005, Changyi City 610 Office Head Chen Xiaodong led policemen from the Duchang Station to arrest practitioners Mr. Meng Qingwei and Ms. Jiang Xiuying, in her 60s, both from Nanpangmengwa Village; Mr. Zhang, in his 30s, and whose father's name is Zhang Jinyou, from Mazhi Village; and Mr. Shi You's wife, a hairdresser from Shijiazhuang who works in Changyi City. They also arrested Ms. Shi Lingling from her workplace and sentenced her to forced labor.

46. [Boai County, Henan Province] Mr. He Xinshun and Others Arrested

On the morning of December 18, 2005, policemen from the Boai County Police Department arrested practitioner Mr. He Xinshun, in his 50s, from his home and ransacked his place. Mr. He Xinshun's wife was arrested five days before. She was released on the afternoon Mr. He was arrested. Police issued an arrest warrant and plan to sentence him to prison.

Another practitioner, Mr. Yuan Jingdong, in his 70s, was arrested on the same day but was released due to high blood pressure.

49. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yueying Sentenced to Forced Labor

Practitioner Ms. Liu Yueying, who is in her 40s, lived in Zhaili Village, Ziwei Township, Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. She was arrested by 610 Office members before October 1, 2005, when a villager named Dai Haitian (male) reported her. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor and is now in the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp located in Baoding City, Hebei Province. Ms. Liu Yueying has been arrested three times.

50. [Nantong City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Diao Youyi Arrested

On June 17, 2005, practitioner Mr. Diao Youyi was secretly arrested by policemen and State Security agents from the Nantong City Department and is still detained in the Nantong City Detention Center.

(1) There are "open cangues" and "secret cangues." [Note: cangue, the name of an instrument of torture, is now used to indicate the person designated to supervise the behavior of practitioners.]

1. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Liu Yu Held Beyond Expiration of Term

According to rule No. 57 of the Administrative Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China, the People's Court should hand down the first verdict within three months after the day a lawsuit is filed. If there is any special situation that requires extra time, it should be approved by the Superior People's Court. If a Superior People's Court needs extra time to give the first verdict, such extra time should be approved by the Supreme People's Court.

Practitioner Liu Yu from Shenzhen City has been held for over ten months at the Longgang Detention Center. In mid-October 2005, Liu received a legal document from the Longgang District Procurator's Office dated September 26. On the morning of October 21, Longgang Court officials held a hearing, but made no judgment. Now the time has far exceeded the period for the first verdict. Personnel from the Longgang District Court have neither released Liu Yu nor handed down any verdict. They didn't ask approval from the Superior Court to extend the time either. Liu Yu's family, friends, and fellow practitioners have made phone calls to the office of judge Xu Guang, who is in charge of the case, but they have not received an answer.

2. [Anshun City, Guizhou Province] Eight Practitioners Secretly Sentenced

On November 25, 2005, one year after eight practitioners who were employed at the Liyang Factory in Anshun City were arrested, the authorities secretly sentenced them to the following terms: Yao Junjing was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment; Qi Jiaqin, seven years; Liu Shukang, six years; Li Ruping, six years; Luo Yunzhi, five years; Tang Ling, four years; Chen Hualiang, three years; and Zhang Yan, three years, with four years of probation.

Practitioners Yao Junjing, Qi Jiaqin, Tang Ling, and Luo Yunzhi appealed, saying that their behavior didn't violate the law and doesn't constitute a crime, but the authorities rejected their appeal.

3. [Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Tian Biying Arrested and Beaten, and Her House Ransacked

At noon on February 20, 2006, four agents from the Chongzhou City Police and National Security Bureau drove to Tibet Base in Chongzhou City where Ms. Tian Biying makes a living repairing shoes. They took her away and ransacked her home. They beat Ms. Tian so hard at the bureau that she fainted. They carried her into a police vehicle, drove to her home, and ransacked her home.

4. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Personnel from the Langfang City Police Department and from the 610 Office Attempt to Arrest Practitioner Mr. Cao Ruitang

Personnel from Langfang City's Police Department and 610 Office have arrested over a dozen practitioners. The practitioners have been staging a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.

On the morning of February 24, 2006, personnel from Langfang City's Police Department and from the 610 Office drove five or six cars and surrounded Mr. Cao Ruitang's home. They attempted to arrest him. As the practitioner's family members refused to open the door for them, they assigned people to monitor the place around the clock. They told the neighbors to let them know if they see Cao Ruitang coming home and promised 2,000 yuan as a reward to anyone who reports his return. They even sent special agents to the store run by Mr. Cao's family. They removed his telephone and threatened the staff in the store not to tell anyone.

5. [Liaoning Province] Practitioner Ms. Wu Yueju Stages a Hunger Strike to Protest Illegal Imprisonment Term Extension

Practitioner Ms. Wu Yueju, born in 1952, lives in Mahudao Village, the Tiexi District, Pulandian City, Dalian Area, Liaoning Province.

In January 2004 Wu was arrested and put into the Dalian City Forced Labor Camp. In October 2004 she was transferred into the No.3 Division of the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. After she was transferred there, her forced labor term was extended from two years to two and a half years. Her two years of forced labor term had expired on around January 6, 2006. Wu is staging a hunger strike to protest the illegal term extension. She is in critical condition now.

She had been arrested twice before this latest arrest. The second time, her three years of forced labor term was extended by two months.

6. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Suzhi Held at a Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Ms. Liu Suzhi from Ninghe County, Tianjin Province was arrested and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. During the physical examination, her blood pressure measured 180 and she had a fever. The forced labor camp refused to accept her and informed Ninghe County authorities to pick her up. County 610 Office agent Liu Kejian, the County Police Department head Gao Lisheng, and Meng Xiangong from the County National Security Team disagreed. Consequently, Ms. Liu Suzhi is still being held at the forced labor camp.

More than 20 practitioners are being held in Ninghe County, including Zhai Xinhao and Meng Zhaoxin.

7. [Xixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Bing Weili Sentenced

Personnel from the Xixia City 610 Office sentenced practitioner Ms. Bing Weili to 10 years of forced labor.

8. [Yulin City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Practitioners Yang Wei, He Aiping, and Huang Ruoxian Held at a Detention Center.

9. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Yang Hailin Arrested

Personnel from the Zhonghua Police Office, the Congtai Police Station, and the Handan City Police Department arrested practitioner Yang Hailin, an employee of the city's No.3 Construction Company. Yang Hailin is now being held in the city's No.1 Detention Center.

10. [Shashi City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Mr. Zhang Yu Arrested

At around 8:00 a.m. on February 23, 2006, several plainclothes police officers put practitioner Mr. Zhang Yu into a police vehicle. The practitioner is from Shashi, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, and was riding a bicycle to work when the arrest happened. When his family got the information, he had already been put into the Provincial Brainwashing Center in Tangxunhu, Wuhai City.

Practitioner Zhang Yu, over 20 years old, is an employee of Shashi City's Minde Technology Company. He used to have congenital rheumatic heart disease but recovered in 1997 after practicing Falun Gong. This is his second arrest.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Lijun Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Wang Lijun, around 26 years old, was recently arrested for the third time.

12. [Beijing] A Practitioner Arrested for Distributing Truth-Clarifying Materials and Sent to a Brainwashing Center

Practitioner Ms. Wu, about 70 years old, an employee from the No.1 Division of the Chinese Rocket Research Institute in the Fengtai District of Beijing, was arrested. It happened over 10 days ago when she was clarifying the truth and distributing materials at the General Hospital affiliated with the Aero-Tech Industry Group. Now she is being held at the Fengtai District Brainwashing Center.

13. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Practitioner Ms. Li Lianyun Held at the Weibin District Detention Center

On October 14, 2005, practitioner Ms. Li Lianyun from Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, in her 60s, was arrested and has been held ever since in the Weibin District Detention Center in Baoji City.

14. [Haicheng, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Hu Dawei Sentenced to Up to Eleven Years of Imprisonment

On June 21, 2005, personnel from Tonghua County National Security Team arrested practitioner Hu Dawei from Haicheng City, Liaoning Province, and took the practitioner to Tonghua County. At present, Hu has been secretly sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment at the Tonghua County's Kuaida Detention Center.

15. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zeng Qing Arrested Again

Practitioner Ms. Zeng Qing from the Doumen District in Zhuhai City was sentenced to one year of forced labor because she appealed for justice for Falun Gong. After her release she was sent to a brainwashing center for several months and was afterwards sentenced to three years of imprisonment. She was held at Shaoguan first, and then transferred to the Guangzhou City Women's Prison, where she experienced all kinds of brutal abuse and mistreatment. She was deprived of sleep for six months. Police and criminals often tortured and beat her. They even put stool into her food and forced her to eat it. Because of her steadfast belief and righteous mind and action, she was unconditionally released in 2005. But in February 2006, the authorities arrested her again, and her whereabouts are now unknown.

16. [Fuyu County, Jilin Province] Practitioner Ms. Wang Enhui Arrested; Home Ransacked

During the afternoon of February 21, 2006, six policemen committed a crime. These people include Du Dianlong, the National Security Team chief of the Fuyu County Police Department, Luo Hongjian, Yao Chuntao and the Xiaojia Police Station deputy chief. They broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Wang Enhui from Dongyu Village, Yushugou Township. They ransacked her home and confiscated all of her truth-clarifying materials. Then they packed Ms. Wang into a police vehicle and arrested her. At present, she is being held at the county detention center.

17. [Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Ms. Yang Li Arrested

On around February 20, 2006, personnel from the Guangyuan City Police Department arrested practitioner Ms. Yang Li from Guangyuan City. Police also confiscated some copies of the Nine Commentaries and other belongings.

18. [Haicheng City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Li Guangzhi of Teng'ao Town, Haicheng City Was Arrested on February 11, 2006 and Has Not Yet Been Released.

19. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tang Yunli Arrested and Her Home Ransacked

At around 10:00 a.m. on February 22, 2006, practitioner Ms. Tang Yunli from the No.6 Village in Chengshanwei Town, Rongcheng City, was arrested and her home was ransacked. Police confiscated her computer and all of her Falun Gong books. Ms. Tang has been taken to the Rongcheng City Detention Center.

20. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Ms. Du Yunhong Sentenced to Two Years of Imprisonment

In the middle of March 2005, local police arrested practitioner Ms. Du Yunhong from Dalianwan Town in the Ganjingzi District of Dalian City. Another woman practitioner was also arrested. It happened when the two practitioners were cleaning up the street. One practitioner was unconditionally released after 15 days on a hunger strike. Ms. Du Yunhong was transferred to the Yaojia Detention Center and then to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor. When her family visited her, they noticed she had been so severely abused and mistreated and is so skinny that her family barely recognized her.

21. [Beijing] Ms. Zhai, about 70 Years Old, Arrested

In the beginning of November 2005, practitioner Ms. Zhai, about 70 years old and from Beijing, went to the Dongba Market to clarify the truth. Ms. Zhai was arrested that evening and her house was searched.

22. [Fushun City, Liaoing Province] Practitioner Li Fengjie Sentenced to Five Years of Imprisonment; Others Sentenced Differently

Practitioners Li Fengjie and Zhao Fuyan are from Yushu Village, Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoing Province. In October 2005, several practitioners, including these two, went to Gabazhai Village in Yushu Township to distribute truth-clarifying materials but were arrested. Li Fengjie was sentenced to five years of imprisonment; Zhao Fuyan was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Bai Yuqin was given a delayed sentence.

23. [Beijing] Illegal Arrest of Two Practitioners

Practitioner Zhao Jing from Heping Lane, Dongcheng District, Beijing is a retired employee of the Department of Metallurgy. On February 20, 2006, the police arrested him.

Practitioner Wang Lixin is from Ding'an Xili Lane, Beijing. During the night on February 22, personnel from the National Security Bureau and the police station arrested him.

24. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Zhang Hongwei Brutally Tortured in Jilin Prison

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Hongwei is from Tonghua City. In January 2001, he was arrested and sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment in Beijing for going there to appeal for Falun Gong. In 2002, he was transferred to the No.10 Ward in Jilin Province's Prison. Because he was steadfast to his belief, police once detained him in a "small cell" for two years, and another time for three months. Currently, he has the symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis and fluid in his chest. He has difficulty breathing and walking.
