(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities and counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 3 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 42 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On August 1, 2008, police arrested Ms. Yan Li, a practitioner from Rushan City, at home. Her home was ransacked and her computer confiscated.

At around 9:00 a.m. on August 1, 2008, several officials from the Street 1 Group of Wei County broke into a home on Yuquan Street with the pretext of safeguarding the Olympic Games. They demanded that Mr. Gong Zhesuo show his identification card. He refused. They beat and arrested him. Several other practitioners, Mr. Li Dongpo, Mr. Wang Jianchun, Ms. Liu Yahua and Ms. Han Xiurong were arrested at the same time.

On August 1, 2008, officials from the 610 Office arrested Mr. Xue Guixi in the Zhulaozhuang Area for clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong.

On July 25, 2008, employees from the 610 Office of the Leling City Police Bureau arrested Mr. Yang Shengrong, a practitioner from Huangjia Town, Leling City. His Falun Gong materials and books were confiscated.

On the morning of July 30, 2008, Ms. Liu Tonglan and Ms. Wang Lanxiang, practitioners from Guangyun Liaison Office were arrested at Suliuzhuang Town, Xiajin County. They are detained and being tortured at the Xiajin Detention Center.

On August 2, 2008, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials from the Wangdu County Police Bureau in Baoding City arrested Mr. Ma Shuliang, Ms. Sun Xingkun's husband and Qie Junling.

On July 27, Ms. Yan Fengqin and Ms. Lv Jianxiu, practitioners from Dongfangcheng, Shijiazhuang City, were arrested.

On the evening of July 31, 2008, officials from the Liaocheng State Security Bureau and from the Linqing State Security Bureau arrested Mr. Zhang Kaiguo and his wife. They were taken to Liaocheng City.

At noon on August 1, 2008, a group of police from the Youth Police Station, Linqing, Shandong Province, conspiring with officials of the 610 Office, broke into Mr. Zhang Qinglin's home and confiscated the Falun Gong founder's picture, Falun Dafa books, Truth DVDs, the Fa lecture DVDs, recorders, and much more. They arrested Mr. Zhang Qinglin's son, who is not a practitioner. Mrs. Zhang Qingling became homeless to avoid further persecution.

On the morning of August 2, 2008, Ms. Chen Xueru, a practitioner from Chengdu City, was arrested when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. They took her to the Shuangqiaozi Detention Center.

At around 10:00 a.m. on August 1, 2008, police from the Cuixiang Police Station and officials from the Zhuhai State Security Bureau arrested Ms. Su Huiming, a practitioner from Wanzi. She is detained at Meixi Detention Center in Zhuhai City.

On August 1, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Zhang Xumei, a practitioner from Donglanxincheng, Minhang District, Shanghai City. Her home was ransacked and her computer and printer confiscated. Mr. Liu Peng, her husband and Ms. Zhang are detained in the Xuhui Detention Center. Mr. Liu is on a hunger strike since April 22.

On August 1, 2008, Ms. Li Jiazhen and Mr. Wu Zhonglin were arrested at home.

Police from the 610 Office of Gong County arrested Mr. Zhang Guoqun, a practitioner from Gong County, Yibin City, on June 22, 2008, because he distributed truth-clarifying materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. His home was also ransacked. The police do not allow family visits.

On July 21, 2008, the police from the Duchang County Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Zhan Longzhou, a practitioner from Cailing Town. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, and arrested her. She is detained in the Duchang County Detention Center for more than ten days. They extorted 1,500 yuan from her family.

At around 10:00 p.m. on July 30, 2008, officials from the government of Cenchuan Township, Yuping Town, Pingjiang County and over twenty policemen from the local police station broke into Ms. Li Yanru's home. They arrested her. They confiscated the picture of the founder of Falun Gong, books, and much more. Ms. Li Yanru is detained in the Pingjiang Detention Center.

Ms. Li Leiqian was also arrested that evening.

On July 17, 2008, officials from the State Security Bureau arrested Mrs. Cao Gaoqiang and Ms. Xiao Guijiao, practitioners from Chenzhou, Hunan Province, because they were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in a village of the Guiyang area. Mr. Cao Gaoyang escaped on the second morning. On July 27, the policemen from Chenzhou arrested Mr. Cao Gaoqiang again at his rental apartment and detained him in the Guiyang Detention Center.

At noon on August 21, 2008, Ziyang, a police officer from the Nan Jin Police Station arrested Mr. Liu Qixiang. He was taken to the Er'ehu Brainwashing Center.

At noon on July 29, 2008, officers from the Sanshui Town Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Shu Jifang, a practitioner from Village 2, Sanshui Town. They ransacked her home and confiscated Dafa books, Teacher's picture and an antenna receiver. Ms. Shu Jifang is detained in the Guanghan City Detention Center.

On August 1, police officers from Hexing Police Station arrested Mr. Guo Zhijian, a practitioner from Anping Village, Hexing Town.

On July 31, 2008, police from Wuwei Police Bureau arrested Mr. He Xingang, Ms. Lin Jumei and Ms. Miu Shilin. Their computers, disks and other equipment were confiscated. Mr. He Xingang's car (Santana) was also confiscated.

On July 31, 2008, officials from the 610 Office of Chenghua Disrict, Chengdu City, arrested practitioner Ms. Zhang Renju.

On the morning of July 30, 2008, police from the Tianhe District arrested Ms. Yang Haishan at her home.

On the afternoon of July 31, Ms. Lian Xinqun, a practitioner from Tianhe District, Guangzhou, was arrested and taken to the Wushan Police Station.

At 10:00 a.m. on August 1, 2008, police officers from the Wangsheren Town Police Station arrested Mr. Wang Haogui.

On July 31, 2008, officials from the Street Office of Shengli Town, Dongying District, Dongying City forcibly arrested Ms. Cui Guixia at her clothing store. She is now illegally detained at the Street Office of Shengli Town, Dongying District.

On July 29, 2008, police from Dicun Township Police Station arrested Mr. Wang Rongxuan, a practitioner from Dicun Township, Quyang County. He is detained in the Quyang County Detention Center.

In August, 2008, police arrested Mr. Wang Shuyun and Mr. Wang Chun, practitioners from Dongcheng Village, Yongnian County.

Ms. Li Yaozong, a practitioner from Xin'an Village, Liangzhao Township, Renqiu City, was secretly sentenced to a four year prison term by the judge from Renqiu City Court. She had already been illegally detained in the Renqiu City Detention Center for ten months. She was taken to Jindong Prison.

Ms. Pan Liping, a practitioner from North China Petroleum, was secretly sentenced to an 18 month prison term by the judge from the Renqiu City Court. She had already been illegally detained in the Jinzong Police Station for eleven months.

On July 29, 2008, officials from the 610 Office arrested practitioner Mr. Yang Yaojin.

On July 31, 2008, Ms. Jiang Guofang, in her fifties, and Mr. Yang, in his seventies, were arrested. Mr. Jiang Guofang's computer was confiscated.
