(Clearwisdom.net) On May 15, 2008, the Ukrainian daily newspaper Obzor reported on Ukraine Falun Gong practitioners' celebration of World Falun Dafa Day.

The report stated: "Falun Gong practitioners held activities in the Kiev town center, celebrating World Falun Dafa Day in the square. Drummers in traditional Chinese dress, colorful lotus flowers, and exercises demonstrations were presented.

"Sixteen years ago, Mr. Li Hongzhi began to spread Falun Gong in Changchun. Falun Gong is good for both body and mind. It is also referred to as Falun Dafa. The Chinese Communist Party launched the large scale persecution of Falun Gong because it was afraid of the popularity of Falun Gong and saw it as a threat to its political power. The Party feared it would lose control of the people's thoughts and minds."
