(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 48 cities or counties in 16 provinces. In this report, 38 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 59 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Yuzhu from Panjin City, who is illegally detained at the Forced Labor Camp in Benxi City has been steadfast in her belief of Falun Gong and refuses to be "transformed." She is currently being subjected to cruel punishment, the torture method called "stretch bed," where her four limbs are being stretched out straight, and then she was being hung up in that position.

On the morning of March 7, when practitioner Ms. Hu Zhongying from Dongguang City was taking care of her mother-in-law who was hospitalized, and at the same time clarifying the facts and handing out truth-clarification materials to people in the hospital, she was reported. Police officers from the Economic Development Zone in Dongguang City entered the ward and quickly arrested her. Ms. Hu was illegally detained at the detention center for over ten days, where she was beaten by guards. Ms. Hu is now illegally detained in another detention center.

On the evening of March 24, 2008, when practitioner Ms. Yang Jinyan from the Daguang District in Tianjin City was passing out truth-clarification flyers, police officers arrested her and took her to a factory in Yingxin Street. She was transferred to the Dagang Police Sub-Bureau where she was detained and mistreated.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuyuan is illegally detained at the Jiaohe Detention Center and is being mistreated.

On the afternoon of March 25, 2008, Mr. Wei Fengqing was arrested and detained at the Shijiazi Detention Center. His wife Ms. Yu Haiying was forced to leave home and go from place to place.

At about 10:00 a.m. on January 10, 2008, police officers and security officials arrested Mr. Gao Yidong and Mr. Peng Zhenwu at the Shanshuirenjia Residential District. People from the Military Police Group, the Dongxing Police Station and the local community went to Mr. Gao's home and confiscated his computer, printer and other items. They also went to Mr. Peng's home and confiscated his Falun Dafa books. The practitioners were taken to the Caibei Detention Center, No. 2 Ward.

At the detention center, Mr. Gao was beaten by many people and forced to swear at the founder of Falun Gong and to give up his belief. He was deprived of sleep for a long time, which caused Mr. Gao to have reduced mobility. He is currently in an unconscious state.

In June 2007, practitioner Mr. Sun Xiaojun was arrested by local police officers and to this day no one knows his whereabouts.

On March 21, 2008, Mr. Sun Youzhang, 40, a government employee who lost his job, from the 857 Farm in Mishan City, and Ms. Niu, in her late thirties, a small business owner, were both arrested by local police officers. Currently they are detained an unknown place and being mistreated.

Mr. Li Chenguo is 34 years old and a resident of the Fengchan Village in Yutan Township of Changchun City's Economics Development Zone. At 9:00 p.m. on March 17, 2008, while he was riding his bicycle on the road, he was arrested by police officers from the Yingjun Police Station, and then taken to and detained at the Yingjun Township Police Station at Erdao District. There, he was illegally interrogated and tortured to extort a confession, beaten until his face and body were covered with bruises, and one of his teeth chipped. Li was taken to the Changchun City's Weizigou Detention Center.

On November 13, 2007, Mr. Liu Xitong was illegally taken to the Qingdao City's Dashan No. 1 Detention Center. He refused to have his picture taken, or leave his fingerprints, so he was brutally beaten by police officers from the Xiangtanlu Police Station. He was forced to do hard labor by producing 1,000 paper bags a day.

In March 2008, practitioner Ms. Du Wenhui from the Qilihe in Lanzhou City was arrested by Wei Dong and Dong Changping, who are police officers from the Shangxiyuan Police Station in Lanzhou City.

On March 20, people from the Supoqiao Police Station in Qingyang District arrested two senior Falun Gong practitioners and illegally locked them into a detention center for criminals.

Ms. Guo Peiying, who is a teacher from Baicheng City in Jilin Province, is illegally detained at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp No. 4 Team, and her term is completed. In March 2004, due to persisting in Falun Gong practice, Ms. Wen Yuhong from the Huanghua Township in Huairou County, was forcibly arrested at her home by Li Xiaogang from the Huangkan 610 Office in Huairou County and Deputy Head Sun from the Police Station. Ms. Wen refused to be taken away, and then police officers pushed her against the door frame, and Ms. Wen lost consciousness. While she was unconscious on the ground, Li Xiaogang, Sun and others dragged her away. They dragged her over steps and stairs and uphill all the way. As a result, Ms. Wen's spine was injured, and she is now paralyzed. Even so, she was sentenced to four years imprisonment and detained at the Beijing Women's Prison. On March 10, Ms. Liu Ximeng, a practitioner from Lu Village in Yiyuan County, was arrested by police officers, and they claimed that they would not release her until the Beijing Olympics were over.

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Geng Jiandong and Ms. Liu Guangxia were arrested on February 27 and March 1. Police officers were able to track down other practitioners from other provinces through Ms. Liu's phone. They arrested Ms. Su Jixiang, Ms. Liu Zhumei at Linyi, Ms. Liu's apartment was illegally ransacked, and they confiscated all her Dafa materials and a machine, Mr. Geng's laptop was confiscated as well.

On or about March 19, when a female practitioner was handing out truth-clarification materials at Shanghai Zhabei Park, a police vehicle approached her and police officers grabbed the practitioner's collar, and then hit her neck very hard. Right away, this practitioner fainted and fell to the ground. Police officers seized her into the vehicle and drove away.

On March 24, 2008, practitioner Ms. Yang Taizhen from Naxi District in Luzhou City was arrested by plainclothes police on the street. On the March 25, she was forcibly taken to the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong City of Sichuan Province.

At around 9 o'clock on March 24, people from the Wanquan County Domestic Security Brigade and Guoleizhuang Police Station dispatched six police vehicles. They drove to Mr. Bai Yingfu's home, arrested him and ransacked his home. They confiscated a three-wheeled vehicle, a motorcycle, a satellite dish, a TV, a printer, some Dafa books, Dafa materials and other items. Seven to eight tons of materials to feed the cows were stolen, the ceilings of the cows domicile were removed, and even the concrete ground was dug open. On the following day, after Bai Yingfu was arrested, a non-practitioner friend visited him, and the police officers even arrested him and detained him for one night.

On the evening of November 23, 2007, Mr. Li Fanggui was arrested by police officers from Zhoukou City's Sha'nan Police Sub-Bureau. They illegally sentenced him to five year imprisonment, and took him to a prison in another province. Because of his physical condition, his admission to that prison was turned down. Mr. Li was then released and he returned home.

On March 25, Ms. Song Shuluan from Dongmaying Town in Gaobeidian City was illegally taken to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Wu Yulan is 35 years old and from Feidong City in Anhui Province. On March 11, 2008, when she was handing out truth-clarification materials at the Zhong Temple, she was arrested. Currently, she is being detained at the Chaohu Detention Center.

On March 23, Ms. Wang Yusheng who was arrested has been taken to the Erzhigou No. 1 Detention Center.

On the morning of February 20, 2008, when Ms. Yu Guihong from Dushan County in Qiannanzhou, was handing out truth-clarification materials at Beishan Village, Xunle Township, Hechi City of Guangxi Province, she was arrested and sentenced 18 months in a forced labor camp.

On the evening of March 15, 2008, police officers broke into practitioner Ms. Tai Yi and her husband's home at Nanpu Road in Guiyang City, where they arrested Ms. Tao Yi, who teaches at the Guizhou Province Mechanical Industry School and her husband Mr. Bao Jianwei. Ms. Tai is currently illegally detained at the Lannigou No. 1 Detention Center, and Mr. Bao at the Wudang Detention Center.

In early March 2008, due to handing out truth-clarification materials at the residence of Dongyangqiao Commodity Bureau, practitioners Ms. Hu Ailian, Ms. Tang Yuanying and another practitioner from Qiyang in Yongzhou City were reported and then arrested. Ms. Tang was released after her family paid a bribe to police officers of 1,500 yuan. Mr. Zou was not released until his family was blackmailed for 6,000 to 7,000 yuan. Ms. Hu is still in detention.

On March 26, five to six police officers from the Taozhu Police Station broke into Tang Yuanying's home, where they arrested her. Currently Ms. Tang is detained at the Qiyang Detention Center.

In August 2007, Mr. Lu Xinping from Shaoling Road in Chengdu City was arrested and taken to the Jinhua Brainwashing Center for mistreatment. Later, he was transferred to the Chengdu Detention Center.

On March 26, practitioner Ms. Sun Yuhong was arrested.

On the evening of March 26, 2008, practitioners Ms. Pei Yufeng, Ms. Guo Liguang, Ms. Hu Yuyuan from Tanghezi in Jizhou City were arrested by people from the Jizhou City's Taihe Police Sub-Bureau and Nuerhe Police Station.

[Dehui City, Jilin Province] Approximately Thirty Falun Gong Practitioners ArrestedOn February 28-29, 2008, people from the Dehui City 610 Office, police bureau, Domestic Security Brigade, and Changchun City's Police Bureau collaborated with the local police station and rampantly arrested about thirty practitioners. People from the Dehui City Police Bureau cruelly tortured practitioners. Mr. Liu Decai and Mr. Liu Bingqi were tied around a tree for torture. They stuffed with ice blocks around their necks, and poured cold water over their bodies. Not until their lives were in great danger and because they feared the responsibility, did guards release them.

Ms. Wang Dongmei had been interrogated many times, and was then taken to the Hezuizi Forced Labor Camp for a one year illegal detention. Mr. Ren Weifang was taken to the Jiutai City Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Wang Jiafei from the town Dehui is a taxi driver, who was lured and arrested. After they cruelly tortured him, he was taken to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City for detention.

After Mr. Wang Di was arrested, he was subjected to cruel punishment. He was also humiliated, and tortured to the point of not being able to eat.

At about 10:00 p.m. on March 26, while spreading the facts about Falun Gong, practitioner Ms. Sun Yuguo from Beixie Street in Funing County of Qinhuangdao City was arrested by people from the Shimenzai Police Station and Wuning County's Domestic Security Brigade. She is currently illegally detained at the Wuning County Detention Center.

Before Mr. Sun began to practice Falun Gong, he had a work-related accident and he was paralyzed and bed-ridden for 17 years. After he began to practice, he could walk with crutches.

On March 24, Mr. Bai Yinfu from Zhangjiakou City was arrested at a cattle ranch in Wanquan County. He is currently detained at a police station in the county. A three-wheeled vehicle, motorcycle, TV, ten satellite dishes, twenty-one antennas and a printer were confiscated.

At about 4:00 p.m. on March 19, when Ms. Wang Haiying from Zhangjiakou City was browsing the Internet at an Internet café, she was arrested by police officers from the Denan Police Station in Qiaoxi District of Zhangjiakou City. Her home was ransacked, and her desktop computer, a MP4, a MP3 and some Falun Dafa books were confiscated.

At 8:00 p.m. on March 27, Ms. Zhang Yueming, 54, was handing out truth-clarification materials at the Qingliang Temple area and was reported by someone and then arrested. She is currently detained at the Qingliang Temple Police Station.

On March 25, 2008, when Ms. Zhang Xiuyun from the No. 9 Cotton Factory in Baoji District was attending a sightseeing tour to Guilin City, she was arrested at Xianyang Airport. On the same day, she was taken back to Qishan and detained at the Lanfeng Hotel in the factory. Her home was also ransacked.

In February 2008, over ten Falun Gong practitioners from Shanghai City went to Ms. Jin Ruifang's home to watch the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular. They ended up being arrested by people from the 610 Office in the Jiading District. Jin Ruifang, Mr. Ma Dongquan, and Mr. Ma Guobiao's family were detained. Ms. Gao Lingdi was arrested and taken to Shanghai City's Qingbu Brainwashing Center. Ms. Xu Cuixia was arrested and taken to the Changzhou Brainwashing Center for detention. Ms. Gao Qiudi and Ms. Jin Huayue were released later.

In March 2008, police officers from the Zhengyangjie Police Station in Yitong County broke into Mr. Li Weimin's home, thus forcing Li to leave home and wander about. On February 4, 2008, police officers from the Puhuangyu Police Station in Fengtai District of Beijing ganged up with seven to eight police officers from the Daxing Police Station and broke into Ms. Wang Jixian's home at Puhuangyu, where they arrested her and seven other practitioners, who happened to be at her home. They forcibly confiscated computers and other items.

In mid-March 2008, practitioner Mr. Yang Chengshan from Chaoyang District of Beijing City was arrested at his apartment in Dongcheng District. Afterward, Mr. Yang was sentenced to a five year term.

On November 12, 2007, people from the Luancheng County Chengguan Police Sub-Bureau arrested local practitioner Ms. Yang Suying and another practitioner Ms. Lu Shufang from another province, and detained them at the Luancheng County Niejiazhuang Detention Center. One month later, Yang was released, and Lu is still illegally detained and being illegally sued.

On the evening of March 25, 2008, when handing out truth-clarification materials, Ms. Ma Jiali from Zhangdian District in Zibo City was followed by security guards and then reported. Afterward, police officers from the Dongyi Road Police Station arrested her and took her to the police station, and then transferred her to Hutian for illegal detention.

[Fucheng County, Hebei Province] Additional Facts on Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Yuying's ArrestOn the afternoon of March 10, 2008, the Fucheng County Police Bureau Escort Team dispatched a police vehicle and some police officers to arrest Ms. Li Yuying, who was walking on the road, and then took her to the Fucheng County Police Bureau Detention Center. Her family was threatened and extorted out of 5,300 yuan. Ms. Li was illegally detained for seven days, and was seriously injured, both mentally and physically.

On the morning of March 24, 2008, police officers from Shouguang City's Zhenmatian Police Station went to Xifeng Village in Daotian Township of Shouguang City to arrest Ms. Bi Ruilan. She is now likely being detained at the Tianma Police Station. Her family is not allowed to visit her.

On March 26, 2008, Mr. Wang Jinxi from Pingdu City in Shandong Province was arrested at home by police officers from the Pingdu City's Domestic Security Brigade and Dianzi Police Station. They took her to the Dianzi Police Station for detention.

On the morning of March 3, 2008, when a practitioner with the last name of Han from Weicheng District in Weifang City was clarifying the facts to people, she was arrested by people from the Domestic Security Brigade. They extorted 5,000 yuan from her.

On the same day, another practitioner, Ms. Chen Shuyun, from the same district was reported as well. Police officers from the Weicheng District Beiguan Police Station went to her home and ransacked it, and also extorted 5,000 yuan from her before they arrested her. Ms. Chen managed to return home the same day.

On March 19, 2008, practitioner Ms. Zhang Hong from Gengjia Village in Dianzi Township of Pingdu City was forcibly arrested and taken to the Dianzi Police Station by police officers from the Pingdu Domestic Security Brigade and Dianzi Township Police Station.
