Additional Persecution News from China - April 16, 2008 (34 Reports)
(Clearwisdom.net) Today's report relates persecution incidents that took place in 31 cities
or counties in 13 provinces. Twenty-three Falun Gong practitioners were
subjected to brutal mistreatment during detention, and at least 37 practitioners
were illegally arrested. 1. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cai Hongbo Facing Illegal Trial Mr. Cai Hongbo is presently held in the Anshan City No.1 Detention Center.
Personnel from the Qianshan District Court plan to put him on trial. Eight practitioners have been arrested in 2008 so far, and five have been
released. Ms. Teng Shiyun was sentenced to forced labor and put in Masanjia
Forced Labor Camp on March 20, 2008. Ms. Zhao Yulan is currently being held in
the Yuemingshan No. 1 Detention Center. Zhu Wenjie, Anshan City Police Department chief: 86-412-5559896 (Office) 2. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Recent Persecution of Mr. Wang Guilin Personnel from the Xiangtan City 610 Office and about ten officers from the
Yuhu Police Department's Domestic Security Division arrested Mr. Wang Guilin
from his home on April 28, 2008. Mr. Wang was initially held in the city
detention center, followed by incarceration in the Changsha City Prison. He is
currently being held in the Jinshi Prison's No. 4 Section in Changde City. Mr.
Wang was made to work from 6:00 a.m. until midnight. Guards give him ten minutes
for lunch. There are only a few short breaks during a whole day of forced labor. 3. [Qingyun City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yanhua Transferred to the
Leling City Detention Center 4. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yang Xuehua Arrested on April 12, 2008
While Working in the Baishan Building 5. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Zhiqin Arrested About 20 officers arrested Ms. Wang Zhiqin from her home in Longzhuashu
Village, Xiaohongmen Township in the Chaoyang District, Beijing. The arrest took
place at 7:00 p.m. on April 14, 2008, and was carried out by agents from the
Beijing Police Department's 610 Office, the district's 610 Office, the
township's 610 Office, the township police station and the village 610 Office. Liu Hongzhi, Longzhuashu Village head: 86-13910770603 6. [Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zeng Shugang Sentenced The Rongcheng District Court in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province held a trial
of Dafa practitioner Mr. Zeng Shugang on February 26, 2008. They issued him a
verdict on April 21, 2008, sentencing Mr. Zeng to five years in prison. His
family has appealed, and his case has been submitted to the city's Intermediate
Court. 7. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Police Arrested 30-Year-Old Mr. Li Gu in
Early February 2008; He is Still in Detention 8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Xiaojun Held in the Erdaopeng
Brainwashing Center Mr. Zhou Xiaojun has been held in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center since
February 28, 2008. His family requested his release, but was refused. Personnel
from the brainwashing center informed his family on April 14, 2008 that Mr. Zhou
had been taken to the Hankou Brainwashing Center. According to an insider, he
was transferred to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center on March 25, 2008. Deng Bin, Wuhan City 610 Office head: 86-27-82402420 9. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xie Zhaoqi Arrested; Her Daughter Ms.
Xie Dong Lives Away from Home to Avoid Persecution Personnel from the Panjin City Liaohe Police Department's Domestic Security
Division arrested 71-year-old Ms. Xie Zhaoqi on the afternoon of March 27, 2008.
They confiscated items from Ms. Xie's home and ransacked it in the presence of
Ms. Xie's 73-year-old paralyzed husband. The persecutors walked off with a
desktop computer, a laptop computer, a printer, an MP4 and an MP3, totaling
14,000 yuan. Police attempted to arrest Ms. Xie's daughter Ms. Xie Dong. They dispatched
some people to stay around Ms. Xie Dong's home and workplace. As a result, Ms.
Xie decided not to go home and she now leads a homeless life. Ms. Xie Dong's non-practitioner husband was influenced by the persecution and
divorced her. At age seven, Ms. Xie's son had been put in a detention center
with her. He was abused there. Even now, he still experiences nightmares
resulting from the maltreatment in the detention center. 10. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Huamei and Ms. Chen Anhua
Arrested Personnel from the Chengdong Police Station in Changle County arrested Ms.
Zhao Huamei and ransacked her home on March 10, 2008. After one month in the
county detention center, Ms. Xie was transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor
Camp on April 10, 2008. Officials there refused to accept her because of her
poor health. Ms. Zhao was then sent into the Weifang City Brainwashing Center. Personnel from the county 610 Office and the Changle Town Police Station
arrested Ms. Chen Anhua and ransacked her home in the Changsheng Garden
Community. They incarcerated her in the county detention center. Guo Xingjun, Changle County 610 Office head: 86-13805363818 (Cell),
86-536-6299603 (Home) 11. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Wenhua Arrested Ms. Li Wenhua, 53 years old, is from the No. 6 Group, Sanliang Division,
Taiping Village, Shulan City. The police arrested her and ransacked her home on
the afternoon of April 7, 2008. Ms. Li is currently being held in the Nanshan
Detention Center in Shulan City. Her daughter-in-law is working in another city,
and the one-year-old grandson who Ms. Li looked after, is left home without
care. 12. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] The Persecution of Practitioners in the
Wangcun Women's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp The Wangcun Women's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp is composed of four divisions.
Most detainees are Falun Gong practitioners, except for 15 drug abusers held in
the No. 2 Division. The guards deprive practitioners of sleep, force them to do
heavy labor, and order drug abusers to torture practitioners. Practitioners are
made to work from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. They make electric coils for a company
in South Korea. Everyone has to make at least 110 coils per day. Forty-year-old Ms. Liu Shuhua was put in the No. 2 Division in January 2008.
The guards tortured her until she eventually suffered a mental collapse. 13. [Chuxiong City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Li Qian Arrested Ms. Li Qian was arrested at 2:00 p.m. on April 6, 2008 for distributing Falun
Gong truth-clarifying materials in Yongren County, Chuxiong City.
Her family did not know her whereabouts until the afternoon of April 14, 2008. Yongren County Police Department: 86-878-6712823 14. [Tianjin] Fifty-Year-Old Ms. Wang Xueling Arrested from Home at 1:00 p.m.
on April 15, 2008 15. [Liangshan City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhou Lianke Arrested Five officers from the Dechang County Domestic Security Division arrested Mr.
Zhou Lianke from his home at 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2008. 16. [Jiaonan City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested Personnel from the Liuwang Town Police Station arrested Ms. Ding Shouxiang
from Jiaonan City on April 5, 2008 as she delivered Falun Gong truth-clarifying
materials to Liuwang Town. Ms. Zhao Bingmei who lived in Ms. Ding's home was arrested on the afternoon
of April 7, 2008. Personnel from the Beijing Street Police Station arrested Ms. Lu Lexian and
Ms. Wang Xiuyun from their homes on April 7, 2008. Police arrested Ms. Feng Xiuchun and Ms. Wu Cuihua from Lingshanwei Town and
confiscated a printer, a computer and a TV on April 8, 2008. It was heard that Ms. Wang Xiuyun and Ms. Feng Xiuchun are being held in the
Jiaonan City Detention Center, and Ms. Ding Shouxiang, Ms. Zhao Bingmei and Ms.
Wu Cuihua are being held in Qingdao City. 17. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Xia Arrested Personnel from the Zibo City 610 Office and from the Domestic Security
Division arrested Ms. Xu Xia from Zhoucun Village in Zibo City as she
distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in a market. Yang Yanming, Zhoucun District 610 Office head: 86-533-6176677 (Home),
86-533-6195191 (Office), 86-13864396166 (Cell) 18. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Nie Yongxiu Arrested Personnel from the Jinxi Police Station and from the Peng'an County Domestic
Security Division arrested practitioner Ms. Nie Yongxiu in April 2008. Ms. Nie
is from the Wanhe Township No. 9 Division, No. 3 Group in Jinxi Town, Peng'an
County, Nanchong City. She is presently being held in the county detention
center. 19. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Ying and Ms. Lu Changchun Arrested Ms. Liu Ying and Ms. Lu Changchun were arrested on around February 28, 2008.
They were sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. The two were
transferred to the Daxing County Dispatch Center in April 2008. 20. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Dong Sentenced to Forced
Labor; Mother Was Released Mr. Zhang Dong from Yushu Township, Xinbin County was put in the Wujiabao
Forced Labor Camp in Fushun City on April 9, 2008 for a one and a half year
term. Yushu Township Police Station chief Gao Zhenyuan and five other officers
arrested Mr. Zhang Dong and his mother Ms. Guo Qingfeng on the night of March
16, 2008. Mr. Zhang's father escaped. Ms. Guo was released on April 7, 2008. Gao Zhenyuan: 86-13904932435 21. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested Mr. Yang Haidong, Ms. Yang Yan and Ms. Fan from the Haizhu District,
Guangzhou City were arrested the morning of April 15, 2008. Police arrested Mr. He Jingzhong, an employee from the Yuexiu Branch of
Guangzhou City Ping'an Insurance Company at 7:00 a.m. on April 15, 2008. 22. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] The Persecution of Mr. Jing Hai Personnel from the Beijing 610 Office and from the Binbei Police Station's
610 Office arrested Mr. Jing Hai in October 2007. Mr. Jing is an employee from
the Shengli Oil Field in Dongying City, Shandong Province. The police put him in
the Binhai Detention Center. 23. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Facing Illegal Trials Zunhua City Court agents planned to put six practitioners on trial on April
17, 2008, including Ms. Wang Cuihua and Ms. Zhang Mengxia. He Changzhu, Zunhua City Court chief: 86-315-6627858 (Office), 86-315-7683589
(Home), 86-13903251612 24. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Qingchun Arrested Ten policemen from the Laiyang City 610 Office went to the city's Central
Hospital and arrested Ms. Ma Qingchun on April 14, 2008.Ms. Ma' s whereabouts
are unknown. 25. [Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Kunling Arrested Personnel from the Jidong County Domestic Security Division arrested Ms.
Zhang Kunling from Changqing Village, Xialiangzi Township, Jidong County on
April 10, 2008. A practitioner went to Ms. Zhang's home at noon, and was
arrested also. Police ransacked Ms. Zhang's home at 4:00 p.m. that day. Ms.
Zhang's neighbor Ms. Li Yanfen clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the
policemen but was also arrested. The two are currently being held in the county
detention center. 26. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Correction Regarding the Arrest of Ms. Xu
Daoxiu and Ms. Qiu Nine officers including Hu Shaobing and Zeng Fanliang from the Wuchang
District Police Department's No.1 Section and the Baishazhou Police Station
chief arrested Ms. Xu Daoxiu and Ms. Qiu. They confiscated Ms. Qiu's salary
deposit card and 4,500 yuan. 27. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Cai Xiufang Was Arrested from Home at
Noon on April 14, 2008 28. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Fulin Appealed to the City's
Intermediate Court Mr. Li Fulin was arrested from home on February 27, 2007. He was sentenced to
four years in prison on March 25, 2008. Mr. Li has appealed, and his case has
been submitted to the Shenzhen City Intermediate Court. Shenzhen City Intermediate Court: 86-755-83535000 29. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Repeat Arrest of Ms. Song Weiru Personnel from the Mudanjiang City Domestic Security Division arrested Ms.
Song Weiru on April 10, 2008. Ms. Song is being held in the city's No. 2
Detention Center. Policeman Chen Liang from the Aimin Domestic Security Division in Mudanjiang
City had arrested Ms. Song on March 20, 2008. He extorted 5,000 yuan from her
and then released her. 30. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Feng Shiping Arrested Sixty-year-old Ms. Feng Shiping was arrested on April 8, 2008 for
distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Gaojia Village Police Station: 86-411-84671086 31. [Xiamen City, Fujian Province] Eight Practitioners Held in the Fuzhou
City Prison Eight practitioners including Mr. Xu Xiaoqiang, Mr. Lai Jiyan, Mr. Xiang
Benzhi and Mr. Chen Hongcai are being held in the Fuzhou City Prison. Fuzhou Prison: 86-591-83660412 32. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Shuguang, Mr. Shen Guanglu, Mr. Gu
Yongjun and Ms. Meng Guihong Are Still in Detention Personnel from the Zhoucun District Police Department arrested Mr. Ma
Shuguang and Mr. Shen Guanglu from the Zhoucun District and Mr. Gu Yongjun from
the Zichuan District on September 11, 2007. They are still being held in the
Zhoucun District Detention Center. Personnel from the Zhoucun District 610 Office and from the Domestic Security
Division arrested Ms. Meng Guihong on March 19, 2008. Ms. Meng is still being
held in the district's brainwashing center. 33. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested Personnel from the Qingzhou City 610 Office and from the Gaoliu Town Police
Station arrested Ms. Ji Dexiang at 11:00 a.m. on April 14, 2008. Ms. Ji was
released that day. Two policemen arrested Ms. Zhao Tianqin at 11:00 a.m. on April 2, 2008. Feng
Guangrong and two other officers ransacked Ms. Zhao's home that day. Qingzhou City 610 Office head Zuo Hengfa led a few policemen and arrested Mr.
Lu Qingde and Ms. Ji Dexiang from their home on September 20, 2007. They were
taken to the city's detention center. Ms. Ji was released after one month of
detention. Mr. Lu is still being held in the Zhangqiumingshui Forced Labor Camp
in Jinan City. Qingzhou City 610 Office: 86-536-3822610, Xu Wende: 86-13963625607 34. [Duchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Hu Huoying Facing an Illegal Trial Duchang County Court agents plan to sentence Ms. Hu Huoying. Ms. Hu was
arrested and her home was ransacked on February 29, 2008. She is presently being
held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center. Her case has been submitted to the
county's Procuratorate and court. Ms. Hu, 57 years old, is a retired employee from the Duchang County Boatyard
Factory. She had been arrested several times for her Falun Gong practice. Ms. Hu was arrested on July 3, 2000 for appealing for Falun Gong and held for
35 days. She was previously arrested and sentenced to forced labor in April 2005. Her
paralyzed husband was left home.
