New York: "It's a Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience"
(Clearwisdom.net) The Divine Performing Arts touring company and the
Divine Performing Arts of New York jointly presented another performance of the Chinese
New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall on February 3, 2008. Below are
comments from some audience members. Dr. Joan Noonan: "I just saw the best show in my
lifetime." Dr. Joan Noonan, a retired nurse, said, "I just saw the best show in my
lifetime. The music, the dancing, the message. It's truly a great way to
celebrate a happy New Year. God bless those singers and beautiful dancers for
making the show so great. I recommend it to all of you. It's a
once-in-a-lifetime experience. Come to Radio City Music Hall. The show is
fantastic, enchanting, and it takes you to a new world." Catherline Mylott: "It's great for children." Catherline Mylott worked for a big insurance and finance company on Wall
Street for many years. As the wife of a busy attorney, she is now a stay-at-home
mom. Catherline said, "We really loved the show. The music was absolutely
fantastic. I think it's great for children. It's a great educational experience.
I hope one day our children can travel in China freely and learn about Chinese
culture." "We hope we'll return some day." Bill Mallaney, a caregiver for seniors: "One day those
people (being persecuted in China) will be free." Bill Mallaney is a caregiver for seniors and will soon be taking a job in
Flushing, New York, to take care of Chinese seniors. Bill has been learning
Chinese for a year, and his Chinese teacher came to the show the previous
evening. He said, "Every dance has meaning behind it and has a story to it.
It's just fantastic." Speaking of something really touching," Bill
said, "...the piece called 'The Power of Awakening.' I think that's
something China should start thinking about. China is fantastic country. The
culture, the history, the food. I think that piece cannot be shown in China. But
there are a lot people that are standing up against the government, risking
being arrested." With the influence of the Internet, Bill thinks eventually
that Western values and the Western system will take over the totalitarianism in
China. "One day those people will be fee." Takara, a restaurant worker, said, "This is my third time
seeing this show." Takara works in a restaurant. She said, "I loved the show. The costumes,
the colors, ... Especially the drummers. This is my third time seeing this show,
so this is becoming a tradition and I'll be seeing it every year." When asked what impressed her most, Takara said, "The dances, especially
the women's dances, really impressed me. The dances with long sleeves and fans.
I definitely love those. "I've never seen drum playing like that before. I've seen Caribbeans
playing drums before, but the way the Chinese play drums is definitely more
interesting." |
