Former Chinese Consulate Official's Stepping Forward Gives Hope to Those Who Took Part in the Persecution to Do the Same

(Clearwisdom.net) Chen Yonglin, former high-level secretary at the Chinese consulate in Sydney, applied for political asylum from the Australian government on May 26, a few weeks before his term in Australia was to end. His reason for political asylum was that he opposed the Chinese government's persecution of dissidents, including Falun Gong practitioners.

In his application for political asylum, he said that in the last four years, he had used "evil means" to help the Chinese government persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The guilt he felt gave him frequent nightmares and premature white hair. He said, "If I had returned to China, I am sure I would continue to be in charge of the Falun Gong issue because of my prior experience. I would rather die than be forced to continue to do this."

All CCP officials who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong in the last six years had a chance to browse Falun Gong books and websites for work reasons, and have had contact with Falun Gong practitioners. They already have a deep understanding of Falun Gong. They know that Falun Gong teaches people to be good. They know that most of the propaganda spread by the CCP about Falun Gong is complete lies. The CCP's persecution against Falun Gong has been brutal and hidden. Under the circumstances, anybody with a conscience would feel guilty for participating in the persecution and live in a constant nightmare.

In their process of getting to know Falun Gong, some of these officials also realized their previously held atheist concepts were rather narrow-minded. They gradually came to learn that good will be rewarded with good, and evil will receive evil tribulations. The persecution of those with faith will bring not only legal punishment, but also dreadful consequences. The CCP government forced them to commit crimes, which is just like pushing them into a deep well. That's why the officials who knew the truth of Falun Gong would rather die than persecute Falun Gong.

Chen's escape from the evil CCP ended his nightmares. His courageous actions of stepping forward and publicizing his feelings are making up for the mistakes of his past. Falun Gong practitioners hold no hatred in their hearts. Over the last several years, they have repeatedly clarified the facts to the people, including to police officers and officials who participate in the persecution. All they want is a bright future for everyone. We hope more and more people coerced by the CCP to participate in the persecution will follow Chen Yonglin's example, end the nightmares, and walk towards brightness.
