Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Sun Changde was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2001. He is serving his term in the Ninth Ward of the Jilin Province Second Prison. The torture he suffered in prison was so severe that he cannot take care of himself. On December 6, 2004, the prison guards notified his family to bring money for him, so that he could have a medical checkup on December 8. A legal consultant advised his family that the fee should be paid by the prison. Nevertheless, in order to get him released early, his family borrowed four hundred yuan, and went to the prison on the afternoon of December 7, at around 3:00 p.m. They gave four hundred yuan to a female uniformed guard named Yan Min, at the reception room, with one male and one female guard present, and they did not request a receipt. When the family members came to visit one month later, they learned that Yan Min did not deposit the money into Mr. Sun's account, and Mr. Sun lost his chance to see the doctors. They were very angry, and questioned Yan Min. The Prison Administration absolutely refused to admit that Yan took the money, and the two guards protected her and declined to be witnesses. Mr. Sun's family decided to bring the matter to the upper levels and the Disciplinary Office. The Disciplinary Office said there was not enough evidence and they could not take this case into consideration. Finally, the prison guards claimed that Sun's family had wrongfully accused Yan Min, so the family's rights to visit Mr. Sun were subsequently denied. Before the Chinese New Year (February 9), Mr. Sun' elderly father, in his 70s, travelled several hundreds miles to see him; the prison guards turned him away. The elderly father left in tears.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Hu Changping lives in Dongxi'an, Tanfu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. His five family members, including his wife and three children are all Falun Dafa practitioners. From July 20, 1999, until September 2001, the police extorted sixty thousand yuan from them, detained them five times in the detention center and ransacked their home four times. The police beat them with sticks and leather belts. His wife's lower back, neck, toes and eyelids were injured. Mr. Hu Changping was once hung up by handcuffs from a basketball stand for 24 hours and beaten with sticks and leather belts; he was forced to sit on a tiger bench; he was dragged by several policemen on the cement outside, back and forth, until his toes were broken and bloody. The police also beat him with leather shoes, and punched his face, especially his eyes. Afterwards his eyes were so damaged that he could not see, and his mouth was so swollen that he could not eat. The police also beat Mr. Hu with rubber sticks and wooden boards. Once, seven policemen beat and kicked him continuously for seven days. Then they sent him to a brainwashing session for more than twenty days, where he was tortured even more. On September 3, 2001, Mr. Hu started to serve a three-year sentence in a labor camp, but it took him four months in the labor camp just to recuperate from the wounds he received at the detention center.

On January 20, 2005, lawless officials from the Jiuzhai Township government arrested the following Falun Dafa practitioners who live in the town: Ms. Xu Zhiying, Ms. Ren Fulan, Mr. Zhang Maoju, Ms. Ju Dianlan, and another male practitioner (in his 50s). The purpose of their arrest was to extort money from them. The officials told them, "Pay 4,000 yuan; otherwise, you will be sentenced to a forced labor camp." Family members of these practitioners were forced to run around and borrow the money. Mr. Zhang Maoju was released on bail after his family members paid four thousand yuan, and wrote a Guarantee Statement for him; Ms. Xu Zhiying and Ms. Ren Fulan's families each paid 1,500 yuan, and an I.O.U. note for 2,500 yuan; the male practitioners' family paid one to two thousand yuan; and Ms. Ju Dianlan's family had a very hard time borrowing money, but finally paid one thousand yuan and an I.O.U. note for 3,000 yuan before she was released and allowed to go back home.

Tan Jihu (male) is the principal of the Pingding Township School. He ordered all of the teachers in his school to abuse, curse, and beat the students who practiced Falun Dafa. He often slandered Falun Dafa during School Assemblies.

Qin Ying (female), Zhouqu County Credit Union Chairman, is directly responsible for the torture death of a Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Yang Fenfang.

Tan Housheng (male) is the Zhouqu County Party Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary and also Chairman of the 610 Office. He has held brainwashing sessions four times since July 1999, and sent Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Tan Changhong, Mr. Yang Zongcheng, Mr. Yang Jiuhe, Mr. Yang Yongming, Mr. Chen Xingquan and Mr. Zhao Yongcai to forced labor camps. He has slandered Falun Dafa at many meetings.
