"The First Green of Spring" (Photos) Washington DC Practitioners Participate in St. Patrick's Day Parade By a Washington DC Practitioner
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of March 13, Falun Gong
practitioners from the Washington DC area participated in the St. Patrick's Day
parade on Constitution Ave. This is the second consecutive year that DC practitioners have participated
in this event. Mr. Wang, a computer engineer, said, "Falun Gong has been
accepted by more and more different ethnic groups. We are happy to share this
health-improvement exercise with everyone. Falun Gong belongs to the
world." For St. Patrick's Day, the practitioners made a green banner bearing both the
Chinese and English name of Falun Dafa. On the carefully decorated float, Falun
Gong practitioners of different ethnicities and young practitioners performed
the beautiful exercises. The spectators gave them warm applause. Falun Gong's
celestial maiden dance team and dragon dance team also brought more color to the
parade. When Falun Gong practitioners were passing the platform, the host
announced that Falun Gong had spread throughout the world and thanked the
practitioners. Ms. Ye, who was distributing flyers, said, "I felt the people were eager
to know about Falun Gong. The flyers were passed out quickly." Every year, March 17 is a traditional Irish holiday to commemorate a Saint in
history named Patrick. Usually, on the Sunday before March 17, many major cities
of North America will have a St. Patrick's Day Parade. People dress in green to
parade or watch the parade. There is another reason for the world to celebrate
St. Patrick's Day. It is also the time when spring is coming, so many people
also call the green in St. Patrick's Day "The First Green of Spring." Posting date: 3/19/2005 |
