(Clearwisdom.net) After the follow up interview of the participants of the staged "Self Immolation Incident" that took place in April 2002, the Jiang group repeated the same deception in January 2005 by inviting reporters from inside and outside of China to interview the victims in a strictly controlled setting.

In order to reveal the truth, it is first necessary to let reporters that truly want to find the truth conduct the interview. Let's assume that a Clearwisdom reporter were asked to interview the participants of the "Self Immolation." What kind of questions would the reporter ask, and what would be his or her requirements?

1. Why is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) silent about Liu Chunling and her daughter?

Liu Chunling and her daughter Liu Siying died as a result of the staged "Self Immolation." They were both used as key figures in the propaganda designed to instigate hatred against Falun Gong--so why have we not heard about them in the follow up reports?

One reason might be because Liu was not burned to death on Tiananmen Square as claimed, but was killed on the spot by a man wearing an overcoat. When the video is played in slow motion, this fact is obvious, and it has become a big problem for Jiang and his followers. As a result, in the video shown later, the state controlled media edited this section out. There are many suspicious points in the staged "Self Immolation," and the CCP has tried to cover up their old lies by making new lies (for example, by doing follow up interviews with participants like Wang Jindong), yet it has been totally silent regarding Liu Chunling and her daughter.

Of course, when interviewing the participants, a Clearwisdom reporter would first play the videos for them in slow motion. We wonder what the participants like Wang Jindong would think after watching Liu Chunling being struck and killed from behind?

2. Interviewing the man who killed Liu Chunling is required

From the slow motion video of the "Focal Point Interviews," a man wearing an overcoat can be seen using a heavy object to hit Liu Chunling's head from behind, resulting in Liu's death. After the fire on Liu's body had long since been extinguished, the policemen continued to spray her with the fire extinguisher, while the killer turned around and left in the middle of the fog. Through the video and other policemen present, it should be very easy to find out who the killer was, and it would be a reasonable request from the Clearwisdom reporter to interview him.

3. If there were no persecution, would there have been a staged "Self Immolation Incident?"

After the incident, the CCP's propaganda about the incident sounded like this: "Before the 'Self Immolation,' people had not realized the harmfulness of Falun Gong. Now everyone is clear about that." This comment is revealing, because it shows how the Jiang group badly needed to create the "Self Immolation Incident" in order to instigate hatred toward Falun Gong.

In all the CCP's reports about the incident, one important question has never been answered: Where in Falun Gong's teachings does it ask people to commit suicide by setting themselves on fire?

As a cultivation system, Falun Gong talks about "Consummation." This cultivation term is used in both the Buddha school and Dao school, and it refers to a cultivator reaching a selfless, lofty realm, obtaining great wisdom, and being able to understand the principles of the cosmos and human life. It is also called "reaching enlightenment." "Consummation" has nothing to do with death. In fact, Falun Gong teachings clearly prohibit killing and committing suicide, and consider both of these two actions grave sins.

When Wang Jindong, who claimed to have cultivated Falun Gong for many years, was asked whether Falun Gong taught him to "Self Immolate," his reply was "No." In fact, he never committed "Self Immolation" before the persecution started. Falun Gong was made public in 1992. As of January 2001, almost 10 years had passed, and out of the tens of millions of practitioners, no one had committed "Self Immolation." Then, why did a "Self Immolation" take place 18 months after Jiang and his followers started to persecute Falun Gong, and were having a hard time sustaining the persecution?

According to reports from the Xinhua News Agency, Liu Yunfang, who never ignited herself, was the most important "organizer" of the incident. Liu clearly did what she did against the teachings of Falun Gong, but because Liu used the name of Falun Gong, the CCP has used that as an excuse to persecute Falun Gong. Following the same logic, if a criminal who instigated others to do bad deeds had read scriptures of Buddhism and the Bible, should Buddhism and Christianity then be eliminated? The CCP has created thousands of corrupt officials--who should be responsible for that? Who has given the Xinhua News Agency the right to use such a double standard?

4. Requesting an interview with the photographer

According to CCTV (Central China Television), the "Self Immolation Incident" was sudden and unexpected, yet the photographer recorded Wang Jindong's loud shouts, detailed pictures of Wang's face and entire body, as well as policemen slowly walking in front of him. Technically, the recordings are the result of a lot of careful preparation, not scenes captured in a hurry.

Who is the photographer? He is also a witness to this incident. CCTV had access to the films, so they certainly should be able to find the photographer, and it would be reasonable for a Clearwisdom reporter to ask to interview him.

5. Requesting to interview the "Wang Jindong" who was present at the "Self Immolation Incident"

Three different men representing "Wang Jindong" appear in the reports of the state run media. The "Wang Jindong" interviewed recently looks very different from the one present at the original incident. Voice analysis (by a voice analysis lab in Taiwan University) of the recently interviewed "Wang Jindong" and the initial "Wang Jindong" proved conclusively that they are two different persons.

If we were to ask the recently appearing "Wang Jindong" why he could not even sit in the proper cross-legged position, why his words were not something a practitioner would say, and why the plastic bottle full of gasoline did not catch fire, how would he reply? Also, why, after the staged "Self Immolation Incident," was "Wang Jindong" transferred quickly to another hospital and isolated from the outside world.

Who is the "Wang Jindong" on Tiananmen Square? It would be perfectly reasonable for the Clearwisdom reporter to request an interview with him.

6. Requesting to interview the doctors in Jishuitan Hospital

The reporter would also ask a few basic medical questions while interviewing the doctors who "treated" the victims: "Why were the burned patients covered up with gauze? Why were the reporters from CCTV not wearing masks and isolation clothes?" Four days after a tracheotomy, Liu Siying was able to speak and sing loudly, which would seem impossible according to common medical knowledge. Liu Siying was in good condition and ready to leave the hospital. Why did she die suddenly?

7. Requesting to interview related personnel in the Xinhua News Agency and CCTV

In their propaganda related to the "Self Immolation Incident," the Xinhua News Agency and CCTV have always claimed that the participants were Falun Gong practitioners, and thus the "Self Immolation" was the result of practicing Falun Gong. In the interview with these media workers, a Clearwisdom reporter might want to ask them this question: If people such as Wang Jindong, Chen Guo, and Liu Yunfang were really practitioners, then they would know about the principles that Dafa practitioners should not kill or commit suicide. Their irrational actions were completely against the teachings of Falun Gong. Is it reasonable to blame Falun Gong for these people's actions?

8. What is the true motive behind the "Self Immolation?"

The fundamental question surrounding this incident has to do with the purpose of the "Self Immolation," the motive. About that, CCP's media have given really confusing explanations.

Once they said that it was because of a dream of an old woman from Northeast China; another time they said it was a feeling of Liu Yunfang; yet another time they said it was from something implied in one of Teacher's articles (whether or not the article is truly Teacher's is another story); finally they said it was about "stepping forward to clarify the truth." (thus mixing "Self Immolation" with concept of "clarifying the truth.")

All of the above so called "motives" cannot cover up the real purpose: When the Jiang group could no longer sustain their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, they desperately needed a tragic incident through which they could deceive people and demonize Falun Gong. Thus, the Jiang group both staged and benefited from the "Self Immolation Incident."

Only a few lines were devoted to honoring the memory of recently deceased former General Secretary Zhao Ziyang in the newspapers throughout mainland China.

Zhao, who died on January 17th after enduring 16 years of house arrest, was most remembered for his involvement in the June 4th student protests on Tiananmen Square. CCP authorities are attempting to downplay any significance of Zhao's death, as they are afraid that public mourning ceremonies could give way to large-scale protests in the mold of Tiananmen in 1989.

The public is demanding that the June 4th incident be re-examined in an effort to clear Zhao of any wrongdoing, and to expose the horrific and unjust actions taken by the CCP during the incident. The phrases "Mourn Zhao Ziyang" and "Say 'bye for good to the CCP" have taken on a connection in the minds of the Chinese public- a phenomenon that the CCP finds deeply disturbing.

January 18, the day after Zhao Ziyang passed away, Xinhua.Net brought up the "Tiananmen self-immolation" incident from four years ago. The CCP organizer even especially included two "litigants" from the Western media. Yet when the incident occurred 5 years ago, Western reporters were expelled from the scene, robbed of their equipment, physically assaulted, and expelled from the country for reporting on the peaceful petition of Falun Gong practitioners at Tiananmen Square.

It is no coincidence that the self-immolation case is being brought out again at this time directly following the death of Zhao Ziyang. A spokesperson for the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) said, "This is the same dirty trick the CCP habitually uses to divert attention. However, the CCP may be playing with fire, because its role in the Tiananmen self-immolation incident has aroused serious international attention. The CCP is widely suspected of single handedly directing the self-immolation incident and murdering potential informers."

Officials' Report is Full of Holes

On January 23, 2001, five people allegedly partook in a group act of self-immolation. Within a few hours of the incident, the CCP ordered the Xinhua News Agency to immediately send news of the tragedy, in English, to the rest of the world. They claimed that five "Falun Gong practitioners self immolated" at Tiananmen Square. One woman named Liu Chunling died on site, the other four, including Liu Chunling's 12-year-old daughter, Li Siying, were severely burned.

Initially, Beijing Central Committee Television (CCTV) and Xinhua News reports exposed many significantly questionable points. For example, there are no fire extinguishers at Tiananmen Square, and police do not routinely carry fire extinguishers. Why then did they have a fire blanket and dozens of fire extinguishers on site and ready to be used?

The public was shown many views of the self-immolation, taken from multiple angles, far shots, medium shots, and close shots, even photographs. If it wasn't prearranged, then how could it have been captured so completely?

Manuscripts of sensitive news stories to be aired on the Xinhua News Agency must be reviewed and drafted many times. In this instance the story was out to the public with such unheard of speed that it roused people's suspicions. "Wang Jindong can still yell out slogans after being burned jet-black; 12-year-old Liu Siying can still sing after her trachea was cut open. These cases do not make medical sense..."

CCP's Role Stirs Attention

In response to the publication of the Tiananmen self-immolation incident, Falun Gong practitioners simply pointed out that suicide violates the basic principles of Falun Gong. In the main work of Falun Gong, Zhuan Falun, it is explicitly indicated that practitioners cannot kill-themselves or anything else.

The CCP completely disregarded Falun Gong's statements and put the incident to use in its efforts to discredit Falun Gong. The hatred of the whole nation, even the whole world, was intentionally stirred up and directed against Falun Gong, which gave the CCP the excuse it needed for its bloody campaign of persecution. At the time, many ordinary Chinese people who had sympathized with Falun Gong were instilled with hatred as a result of the brainwashing propaganda. Amidst this anti-Falun Gong sentiment, there were still many around the world that were suspicious of the event, and who did not trust or believe the CCP. There were some who were convinced that the CCP had staged the whole thing. The CCP's role in the Tiananmen self-immolation provoked serious attention from the outside.

On August 14, 2001, International Educational Development (IED) issued an official statement at the United Nations conference: "We have obtained a video analysis of the self-immolation incident that indicates that the entire event was directed by the government."

Through its own independent investigation, WOIPFG concluded that the Tiananmen self-immolation incident was very possibly the CCP's attempt to strengthen its persecution of Falun Gong.

Real and Fake Wang Jindong

On May 4, 2003, WOIPFG held a press conference in Washington DC to publicly announce evidence that the CCP had fabricated the self-immolation incident.

Xinhua News Agency declared that the leader of the immolation incident was Wang Jindong from Henan. CCTV successively broadcasted three interviews with Wang Jindong. WOIPFG expressed that through computer analysis of speech and sound, it had concluded that the Wang Jindong who appeared in the interviews was a different person each time.

WOIPFG spokesperson, Mr. Zhao said, "The International investigation committee at Taiwan University's language laboratory carried out an independent analysis of Wang Jindong's voice. Taiwan University pronunciation laboratory's analysis of Chinese pronunciation is world famous. They concluded that the person from CCTV's first broadcast was different from the two that followed. The international investigation committee received reliable information from China that said the person in the self immolation was actually a People's Liberation Army officer."

Doctor: Cause of Liu Siying's Death is Suspicious

WOIPFG also exhibited the testimony of a doctor from Jishuitan Hospital. He thought 12-year-old Liu Siying being able to sing loudly for the CCTV interview after she had received a tracheotomy was impossible. This doctor claims that Liu Siying's death is very suspicious.

Mr. Zhao disclosed to the International investigation team the following evidence collected from Liu Siying's doctor, in which the doctor said, "Liu Siying's burn treatment was about completed, and her body had basically recovered to its normal state. She had already decided to leave the hospital. In light of these circumstances her death appears very suspicious."

The doctor also disclosed, on March 16, the day before she died, that the hospital did a comprehensive check up on Liu and found her condition to be completely normal. The hospital doctor also confirmed that Liu Siying died that morning. Jishuitan Hospital staff and the Beijing Medical Administration Department's director even conversed with her, and at that time, Liu Siying's health was still normal.

Liu Siying's mother, Liu Chunling, was the woman who died on site. Viewing CCTV's recording of the self-immolation incident in slow motion, one can see that there was a hard object thrown at her forehead by a man in an army coat, which caused her to fall to the ground.

It has been exactly 4 years since the "Tiananmen Self-immolation" incident. It is pitiful that both mother and daughter have been dead for 4 years.

Falun Gong appealed multiple times to the United Nations and Tripartite to conduct an independent investigation, but was obstructed by the CCP authorities. As a result the truth is still covered up. Falun Gong practitioners have pointed out that, "One point is for certain, the CCP has put on a good show and managed to deceive many people, the effect of which has been to intensify the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners."

Canadian practitioners of Falun Gong were deeply shocked and distressed to see this unfair and irresponsible article from The Associated Press reprinted in the Citizen.

The AP story gives credibility to Falun Gong denunciation interviews that were organized by the Chinese government. This is a typical technique of the regime's propaganda campaign to turn public opinion against Falun Gong. These interviews were staged by the Chinese government to discredit Falun Gong, as was the Tiananmen Square self-immolation tragedy on which they are based.

Instead of providing your readers with fair, well-informed, and trusted reporting, the Citizen has unwittingly been used to assist the Chinese government's persecution, causing even greater harm and injustice to those already being slandered and tortured.

There is third-party supporting documentation, freely accessible in the Western world, that provides convincing evidence that the self-immolation incident and the government-organized interviews reported in the AP article were staged.

The Falun Gong's teachings value life and prohibit suicide and killing, so it's clearly not accurate to claim that their teachings led to the act of self-immolation. At the same time, I realize that the people making this claim are sad victims of the persecution, too.

The news media have a responsibility to investigate and report on the real stories of these people. I can provide the testimony of Toronto resident Lizhi He, whose account of his three years of imprisonment in China reveals the horrors that many practitioners are continuing to suffer.

The truth about the suffering of the tens of thousands still imprisoned and their family members who yearn for their return must be revealed. These are the true stories behind the propaganda campaign and government-organized denunciations.

A County Party secretary protects local Falun Gong practitioners

A 610 Office director from a Northeastern Chinese city was about to approach a subordinate county to carry out the so-called "Falun Gong work examination." After the County Party secretary learned about this, he first tried to postpone the visit, but later the 610 Office chief insisted on coming. So, the County Party secretary was indeed unable to delay the visit any longer. He immediately told his subordinate officials on various levels that if the people from the 610 Office came to their specific departments to examine their work, then they should just stall and head them off. This secretary and several other leaders who know about the truth of Falun Dafa have been protecting practitioners in various ways over the past five years of the persecution.

This county has experienced extremely few natural disasters over the years and always has favorable weather for farming.

An elderly man, after learning the truth: "Jiang persecutes good people so badly, he will for sure come to no good end!"

As Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth to the public, a lot of people have gotten to know that all Falun Gong practitioners are trying to be good persons by practicing "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and that practitioners are innocent and are being persecuted. An elderly man said angrily, after learning the truth, "Oh, so this is how it is! The purity and compassion of Falun Gong practitioners are in stark contrast to the real image of the fake, evil and violent Jiang faction. All people want to be different from them. They persecute good people so badly, they will for sure come to no good end!"

New York attorney Lana Han represents U.S. citizens and residents attacked by Chinese organizations that have close ties to the Chinese consulate.

NEW YORK -- Books and notepads overflow off the desk to the chairs and floor in her small office in New York City -- subtle deliberate organization evident among the mountains of files and notes.

She works in a small team, usually without funding or staff. Occasionally she wakes from a brief night's sleep at her desk only to continue her labor anew. She is dedicated to a cause she knows to be profoundly worthy.

Lana S. Han is an attorney volunteering to defend Falun Gong practitioners against the onslaughts of a totalitarian regime, both abroad and right here in her hometown of New York City.

As one of a growing group of attorneys taking an interest in the persecution of Falun Gong and bringing its perpetrators to justice, Han is providing legal support to the largest non-violent movement in China's history.

"If we don't do it, who will?"

Han left her position in a prominent New York law firm a year and a half ago to work full-time on behalf of people who practice Falun Gong.

"I knew this effort would require my full attention, so my husband and I sat down to see if we could manage financially... we knew it wouldn't be easy, but we saw we could get by and decided it was worth doing. If we don't do it, who will?"

New Yorkers Suffer Blows From Abroad

In one case filed with the New York County Supreme Court, Han is representing Falun Gong practitioners who were assaulted on New York City streets by a group of men with known ties to the local Chinese Consulate. The men beat them outside of a Chinatown restaurant, shouting, "If you are Falun Gong, I'll kill you!"

Han explains, "They think they can operate [in the US] like they do in China: beat people up, threaten them, and get away with it. We're not going to stand by -- no matter how much money they throw toward their defense, what they're doing is wrong."

The case is expected to go to trial in the spring.

In another case, Han represents individuals who practice Falun Gong in the New York area against two New York-based newspapers that serve as mouthpieces for the Chinese Communist Party.

The two newspapers have published a barrage of defamatory, intentionally falsified articles about the practice of Falun Gong and its local followers. The articles, interestingly, mirrored ones in Chinese government-run newspapers.

One of the papers being sued published over 300 anti-Falun Gong articles in three years' time, claiming Falun Gong practitioners are "murderers," "criminals," and worse.

Since these articles are rarely translated into English, the false reporting has gone largely unnoticed by media watchdogs in the U.S., even though these papers reach the majority of Chinese here.

The Growing Network

Han is part of a growing network of volunteers in the legal field. Earlier this year, she and others traveled to the Hague in the Netherlands to consult with the International Criminal Court and meet with other attorneys in Amsterdam and Paris.

All told, the volunteers' efforts span 21 countries, and account for 26 lawsuits to date, from the United States to Spain, from South Africa to Taiwan.

Their cause has gone from obscure to front page in the last few years. Once a topic that Chinese leaders tried to sweep under the carpet, Falun Gong's human rights lawsuits are now a key component in the world dialogue on China's future.

The legal effort's main focus is on former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, but it also includes a host of Chinese officials who have participated in persecuting Falun Gong under Jiang's direction. They are being sued for the illegal detention, torture, killing, rape, and disappearance of innocent civilians and other crimes against humanity. And, in some cases, genocide.

Lawsuits Around the World

The first Falun Gong case that gained international attention was filed in October 2002. Plaintiffs filed that month a class-action lawsuit in a U.S. District Court in Chicago against Jiang and the "Falun Gong Control Office" (a Gestapo against Falun Gong) for causes of action including "torture, genocide, and denial of the right to life." Han has helped with the case.

Two days after the lawsuit was served in Chicago, China's foreign ministry tried to deny that the lawsuit even existed, but was forced into a retreat when pressed by Associated Press reporters in Beijing.

In September 2003, the District Court judge claimed that Jiang enjoys immunity and dismissed the case. "The decision contradicts case law in the U.S.," says attorney Dr. Terri Marsh, who represents Falun Gong in the case, "and ignores international treaty law and customary international law that stipulates heads-of-state and former heads-of-state may not enjoy immunity with respect to crimes against humanity."

In the appeal to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals filed on January 20, 2004, 14 professors of international law filed an amicus brief, supporting the appeal, as did members of Congress.

Following the Chicago suit, in December 2002, attorneys William Bourdon and Georges-Henri Beauthier filed a suit in France for crimes of torture, against Li Lanqing. This is the first time in Europe that a Chinese leader has faced such charges.

Over the next two years, a total of 19 lawsuits were filed in Belgium, Iceland, Finland, Spain, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, and other countries against Jiang and other senior Chinese officials for their roles suppressing Falun Gong.

Determined

Han and the attorneys working on Falun Gong-related lawsuits continue their efforts. They are determined to bring to justice who they call "one of the world's most deadly but least-known dictators," Jiang Zemin.

"We won't ever give up," concludes Han. "Even if Jiang and his cohorts shift the blame, even if the [Chinese Communist] Party finds a scapegoat, those responsible for these crimes against humanity will be found, exposed, and held responsible for the lives they destroyed."

Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa (about), is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Practiced in over 60 countries worldwide, Falun Gong has roots in traditional Chinese culture. With government estimates of as many as 100 million practicing Falun Gong in China, China's then-Communist leader, Jiang Zemin, outlawed the peaceful practice in July 1999 (report). In October 2001, however, Government officials inside China reported that the actual death toll was well over 1,600, which means the current actual death toll is likely over 5,000. Hundreds of thousands have been detained, with more than 100,000 being sentenced to forced labor camps, typically without trial.

(Clearwisdom.net) From January 24 to 26, 2005, a three-day "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Art Exhibit was held in the Korean Parliament Building. This was the 11^th stop of the exhibit tour, which provided a great opportunity for many Parliament members and officials to learn the truth about Falun Gong.

In November 2004, when the "Uncompromising Courage" art exhibition was held in Korea, Korean Falun Gong practitioners clarified the truth about the Jiang faction's human rights violations and introduced the art exhibit to members of Parliament. The Korean Falun Dafa Association and Parliament Member Mr. Shin, who represents Gyeyang-gu, Incheon City, sponsored this art exhibit at the Parliament building.

MP Shin said in his opening remarks, "Human rights exist beyond any political idea and have the highest value. Therefore, human rights violations anywhere on earth are intolerable. At the same time, freedom of belief must be protected." His speech won warm applauses from the visitors. Toward the end of his speech he said, "All of us should exert every effort to end these human rights violations." He stated that he would do his best to accomplish this.

MP Mr. King, who represents Seo-gu, Incheon City, also delivered a speech. Prior to this, he knew nothing about Falun Gong. He began his speech with an apology, "Over the past five years, China has launched such a brutal suppression against Falun Gong. As a member of the Korean Parliament, I knew nothing about it. I sincerely apologize to the practitioners here." He said that he was not aware of the persecution encountered by Falun Gong practitioners in China until he viewed the paintings exposing the persecution. He stated that he would make an effort to end this oppression that it is against humanity. His speech also won warm applause.

After the opening ceremony, a press conference was held to expose the Chinese communist regime's interference with Falun Gong practitioners' activities.

During the opening ceremony, some staff members from the Chinese Embassy secretly got in, took photos and gathered information. They were recognized by practitioners and hurriedly went away. The unscrupulous means adopted by the Jiang regime's followers shocked the attendees.

After viewing all of the paintings, Parliament Members all asked, "Are they really so barbaric? How could they kill children?" They said that they simply could not imagine this. On the guest book, they wrote,

A Japanese reporter commentated, "It was really a courageous feat that MP Shin was not afraid of the Chinese Embassy's interference and persisted in holding the art exhibit in the Parliament building."

After viewing the exhibit, an influential MP stated that he would like to learn the Falun Gong exercises in his office. Two practitioners then demonstrated the exercises to him in his office. Later, the MP said that he would also practice the exercises.

The exhibition was held in the hallway that connects two buildings. It is also the must-be-taken road for MPs and their staff to enter the conference hall and cafeteria. This made it convenient for many people to see the exhibition.

On the evening of the opening ceremony, a movie presentation sponsored by the ruling party's representatives was held in the large conference hall just opposite the art exhibition hall. After the movie, people had tea in the exhibition hall. It was said that about 700 people came to watch the movie and all of them had to pass through the exhibition hall. They viewed the art paintings when they entered the conference hall. When the movie concluded around 9 p.m., people once again passed through the exhibition hall.

It was late in the evening, but the exhibition hall was in a peaceful and compassionate field. Perhaps this was the first time for many people to hear about Falun Gong and they were quite surprised. Practitioners who stayed until the end said that such an opportunity was definitely not an accident. All people smiled happily.

The three-day exhibit quickly concluded. It was unfortunate that some MPs did not have a chance to learn about Falun Gong because they were on business trips. Fortunately, this art exhibit displayed the dignity and sacredness of Falun Dafa not only to government officials but also to some Korean citizens who had some misunderstandings about Dafa.

She said, "Before I climbed up to the third floor where you are holding this art exhibition, I paused a number of times to take a break and asked myself, 'Why should I go? I have to realize that I haven't been anywhere for many years and don't have the energy to climb up.' However, at the same time, an unknown strength pushed me to continue going up the stairs. When I succeeded climbing the stairs and arrived at the exhibition hall, I was moved deep down in my heart by a formless power. I could never imagine that I could even see such beautiful and touching paintings in today's society."

The lady carefully viewed each painting and did not want to leave. She was so happy that she looked as if she were a child. She also showed us the cane she used to help her walk step by step to the exhibition hall.

What a beautiful and unforgettable story! This kindly, senior citizen felt extremely grateful for being able to view such a splendid painting exhibition.

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 26, 2005, Australia Day, Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne participated in the grand parade of ten thousand people and gave an art performance, at the city's invitation, at the large-scale Voyages Concert.

In the morning, about one hundred Falun Gong practitioners from Melbourne and Sydney participated in the Australia Day Parade, among dozens of different ethnic groups. In high spirits, Falun Gong practitioners held banners reading, "Falun Dafa is Great" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Their procession was headed by a waist-drum team. Young Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises on a float decorated with lotus flowers. Following them were a beautiful Tang-Dynasty costume team, a fan dance team and a silk-ribbon dance team. The Falun Gong procession created one of the most fantastic spectacles, and were accompanied by the music of the song, "Falun Dafa is Good." The parade spectators were impressed by the Chinese culture and were moved by the peaceful spirit that Falun Gong practitioners displayed. They cheered and took pictures with the Falun Gong practitioners. Chinese-Australians thought it was wonderful that Falun Gong could appear in such a grand parade.

Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne gave a performance at the Voyages Concert at Federation Square in the evening. The theme of the concert reenacted an aboriginal dreamtime story of "How the Yarra River was Created." In the story, fights and killing among the aboriginal people angered God, who punished the people with a tsunami, creating the Yarra River. The people finally realized their wrong and stopped fighting. God then threw a spear into the sea and stopped the tsunami. Through this story, the concert promoted the spirit of tolerance, unity and mutual respect.

Among the four hundred actors and actresses, Falun Gong practitioners were the only ethnic-Chinese group invited to perform. The concert director, who knew Falun Gong pretty well, made arrangements for the practitioners to start the concert showing the theme of harmony between God, Heaven and Earth.

Falun Gong practitioners performed the lotus dance, gave a waist-drum performance, performed a Tang-Dynasty costume dance and fan dance, and demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises to Falun Gong music. Their elegant traditional dance and music bathed the square in a blessing of peace and beauty. At the end of their performance, Falun Gong practitioners gave Indigenous Australians a banner with the words, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." More than thirty thousand people watched the live performance. In addition, many local TV station broadcast the concert live.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Du Jincai is a worker from Jinhua of Liaoning Province. He is currently detained in the Huludao Forced Labor Camp for practicing Falun Gong. To protest the persecution, Du Jincai has been on a hunger strike for 190 days and his life is in danger. We call on people from all walks of life to pay close attention to his situation and rescue Du Jincai.

Mr. Du, 43, worked for Jinhua Chemistry Industry Group. Practicing Falun Gong brought him better health and raised his moral character. He is a hard working, honest and kind person whose outstanding character won him praise from his colleagues and supervisors. Du Jincai's mother is over 70 years old, his son is in school, and his wife works in Jinhua. His family environment was full of harmony and joy.

Du Jincai's mother has a heart condition. Seeing her son under brutal persecution, her heart is broken and she often cries, hoping for her son's return.

When the family went to the labor camp to visit Du Jincai, the labor camp refused any visitation. When they asked the police, "Why will you not let us visit Du Jincai and how is he doing?" The forced labor camp ignored them replying, "It's not news that people die in a forced labor camp."

Since Jiang's regime began the persecution of Falun Gong in July of 1999, Du Jincai has been detained several times. During his first detention at Huludao Forced Labor Camp, he suffered both physical and mental torture. When he was released and went back to work, he worked hard as before.

On April 26, 2004, however, the National Security Brigade of Huludao Public Security Bureau at Lianshan Branch arrested Du Jincai from his workplace. He was sentenced to three years of forced labor without any legal procedures. On April 29, without notifying him or his family, the police forcefully sent him to the Huludao Forced Labor Camp.

In the forced labor camp, Du Jincai refused to give up the practice of Falun Gong. As a result, he was brutally tortured. Since July 9, 2004, Du Jincai has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. During his hunger strike, the forced labor camp brutally force-fed him. He was forced down on the ground. The perpetrators tightly held down his legs and arms. They tried to pry open his mouth but failed, and instead, they inserted the feeding tube down his nose into his stomach, causing internal damages. He has severe stomach pains, and headaches and his whole body is in pain. He also feels light-headed as though he is going to faint. He was locked in solitary confinement, where he was subjected to more torture.

On August 23, 2004, the head of the Disciplinary Department at the labor camp, Yang Lianyuan, team head Liu Guohua, and Wang Yongming used the excuse that the practitioners did not report their assigned prisoner numbers, and so incited inmate Yuan Bing to brutally torture Du Jincai and practitioner Yao Shan, who was also on a hunger strike at that time. Both practitioners were forced to down on the ground in a "body-folding" (1) position while the policemen slapped their faces, beat and shocked them with electric batons.

As of January 19, 2005, Du Jincai has been on a hunger strike for 190 days. He is extremely weak and his life is in danger.

We call for an urgent, worldwide rescue to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and support Falun Gong practitioners' human rights.

(Clearwisdom.net) Because of his practice of Falun Gong, practitioner Ni Guobin was imprisoned for three years before he was finally released last year. On July 13, 2004, a few unidentified people who claimed to be officers from the National Security Office, Wuhan Police Department, abducted him again. Ten days later, they sent Mr. Ni back home when he was dying as a result of the cruel torture. After Mr. Ni finally managed to recover, the authorities once again abducted him from his home on December 7, 2004. It was later confirmed by a policeman that they were indeed from the National Security Office.

When the officers arrested and tortured Mr. Ni last year, his wife was still nursing their three-month-old baby, while his mother had already collapsed and was staying in bed from the stress of seeing her son being constantly persecuted. The details follow.

Mr. Ni lives at Room 103, Unit 1, Building 46 of Village No.3, Evergreen Garden, Wuhan City. On the morning of December 7, 2004, he was on his way to the office when four strong men suddenly pushed him to the ground and beat him up. Forcefully handcuffing and shackling him, they took him to a car and drove away.

While Mr. Ni was crying for help and shouting that he was being abducted by gangsters, witnesses called "110" (equivalent to "911" in the U.S.) to report the crime and also attempted to stop it Nevertheless a "110" policeman came over and did nothing, for it was officers from the National Security Office of Wuhan Police Department abducting Mr. Ni.

Long before this incident happened, another gang of people broke into Mr. Ni's home using an illegally copied key. That happened on July 13, 2004, when Mr. Ni's wife, 37 years old, was seven months pregnant. After almost eight hours' struggle to stop them from breaking in, Mr. Ni's wife finally gave up. The group managed to abduct Mr. Ni, search the home, and take away all of Mr. Ni's office supplies and equipment, including a computer, a fax machine, and a printer. Claiming they were from the National Security Office without showing any identities, warrants, or other documents, they took away Mr. Ni and imprisoned him at the Wuhan No.2 Detention Center, where they tortured him, force-feeding and tying him up on the Death Bed. Afraid that Mr. Ni might soon die in the detention center, they sent him home, where Mr. Ni collapsed after ten days of torture.

Mr. Ni Guobin started to practice Falun Gong back in 1996. He has been following the principle of "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance" at work and in his daily life. Because of his responsible attitude towards work and his compassion towards other people, he was widely considered as an excellent person and a great leader. In 1999 when the slanderous attack against Falun Gong was widespread as a result of Jiang's campaign to eradicate Falun Gong, Mr. Ni went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The authorities, however, imprisoned him for three years at the Fanjiatai Prison of Shayang, Hubei Province. There he suffered cruel tortures and almost lost his life.

As of today, all that Mr. Ni's family knows is that it was the officers from the National Security Office of Wuhan Police Department that took Mr. Ni away, and that Mr. Ni is currently imprisoned in the Wuhan Hewan Labor Camp. This information was relayed by an official at Evergreen Garden. Nobody else or any organization has claimed responsibility for Mr. Ni's abduction, and nobody has delivered any warrant or other related legal documents to Mr. Ni's family, either.

Obviously the arrest of Mr. Ni trampled the laws (clause 57 of the constitution). By doing this, the authorities have illegally deprived a Chinese citizen of the "physical rights"(clauses 37, 38, 39, and 40 of the constitution); they have illegally deprived the Chinese citizens of their rights of supervision (clause 41 of the constitution); they have committed the crimes of purposely injuring others (clause 234 of the Criminal Law), illegal detention (clause 238, the Criminal Law), abduction (clause 239, the Criminal Law), illegal search (clause 245, the Criminal Law), and illegally breaking into a private residence (clause 245, the Criminal Law), extorting a confession with torture (clause 247, the Criminal Law), humiliating and defamation (clause 246, the Criminal Law), robbery (clause 267, the Criminal Law), and abusing their power (clause 397, the Criminal Law).

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Chang Fengqin, 45, lived at Lizhuang Village, Anzhai Township, Quzhou County, Handan City, Hebei Province. In 1997, she was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer by several hospitals. She was given four months to live. When she and her family were in this desperate situation, that same year she fortunately obtained Dafa and started practicing Falun Gong. After a short period of practice, a miracle happened: she recovered fully. The story of her remarkable recovery spread among her relatives and in her village. After people saw the miracle of Falun Gong, many of them started practicing as well.

After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime defamed and framed Falun Gong, conducted brainwashing classes and tried to force practitioners to give up their faith. Under this great pressure, Ms. Chang Fengqin was afraid of reading Dafa books and practicing Falun Gong. She died in the summer of 2002 after her cancer came back.

There have been many such cases. If there were no persecution, Ms. Chang would have been able to continue her practice and maintain good health.

(Clearwisdom.net ) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Guoxin from Hegang City in Heilongjiang Province was searched by the police at the Jiamusi Train Station in 2001. He then died as a result of persecution by police from the Jiamusi Railway Department after they found that he had Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials with him. His wife Wang Ying has been detained in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. The following is some information about their daughter, Zhao Qian.

Zhao Qian's mother, Wang Ying, 43, was an employee of the Xinhua Paper Factory in Hegang City. On November 23, 2001, the local police broke into her home, searched it, and took her away. They then detained her in Hegang City No. 2 Detention Center. At that time, Zhao Qian's father, Zhao Guoxin, had already died from being tortured. The then-14 year-old Zhao Qian had no one to look after her and had no money to make ends meet. She missed her parents so badly, but the police did not allow her to visit her mother.

Her mother, Wang Ying, was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in 2002 and detained in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison in Harbin City to endure more persecution.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am 55 years old and a Falun Dafa practitioner in Zhucheng City. Twenty years ago, I contracted a skin disease that was considered incurable. I tried various medicines and treatments, but it was in vain. Every day seemed like a year for me.

Fortunately, I learned Falun Dafa in 1998. Teacher purified my body twice, and my skin disease was cured completely. My thankfulness to Teacher and Dafa was beyond description. Only when I am determined in Falun Dafa and diligent in doing the three things that Teacher requires and commit myself to saving more sentient beings to fulfill my historical vows, can I live up to Teacher's benevolent salvation.

For the past fives years, I have been doing my best to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and save people. Since 2001, I began to clarify the truth face to face. Every day I rode a bicycle to clarify the truth, from the marketplaces to the village fields, and I also went to remote rural areas to distribute truth clarifying materials. Every time, I always returned back safely with Teacher's compassionate protection.

On March 10, 2004, I suddenly had a fever and many red spots developed all over my body with a yellow liquid oozing out. I felt terribly itchy, and my legs were swollen. I thought that I was eliminating karma, so I decided to tolerate it without seeking any treatment. I could hardly go to work in the fields and I also couldn't eat and drink. The situation didn't get any better, even after seven or eight days. I felt there was something not right about this. When I first began practicing Falun Dafa, I regarded myself as a cultivator and I thought that my feeling unwell was due to karma, instead of being an illness. As a result, I got well within ten days. Why was this current situation getting worse and worse? Was I doing something wrong somehow? I was worried about it. At this moment, a fellow practitioner came to see me and we shared experiences with each other, which led me to have a new understanding of the Fa principles. During the Fa-rectification period, Dafa practitioners should be free of tribulations resulting from issues of personal cultivation. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Teacher didn't arrange tribulations for Dafa practitioners' personal cultivation. All tribulations were interference from the dark minions, in order to make us unable to save sentient beings. Looking at the red spots all over my body, which were swollen and itching unbearably, I said, "This body is so filthy! I should just abandon it." My fellow practitioner said, "Don't have this thought. This might be the reason that the dark minions have intensified the persecution. You should send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the dark minion's persecution. Our fellow practitioners will send forth righteous thoughts along with you." From this practitioner's words, I suddenly realized what was going on.

With help and encouragement, I studied the Fa with a calm heart and read Minghui [the Chinese version of Clearwisdom] articles in which Dafa practitioners talked about their experiences in overcoming illness tribulations with righteous thoughts. I was greatly inspired and understood the seriousness of cultivation in the Fa-rectification period. I started to look at my attachments and omissions in my xinxing with a calm heart. And I also looked at the reasons why my heart couldn't calm down while studying the Fa and sending forth righteous thoughts. Then, I sent forth strong righteous thoughts with a calm heart: "Eliminate all dark minions; completely negate the old force's arrangements; eliminate the dark minions' interference and their persecution of me." My mind became more and more clear, and my will became firmer and firmer. I spent more time studying the Fa, doing the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts.

With strong righteous thoughts, my illness disappeared gradually. After one month, I was completely well. My body felt light and my heart was filled with happiness for defeating this tribulation. Teacher's benevolence moved me to tears. I rejoined the Fa-rectification activities of clarifying the truth and saving sentient beings.

I understood from this experience that, only by Dafa practitioners keeping strong righteous thoughts and righteous actions can the dark minions be restrained from taking advantage of us. I am sharing my experience in order to help fellow practitioners who are suffering the persecution of illness tribulation. Only when we study the Fa more with a calm mind, and consistently send forth righteous thoughts, can we walk well the path that Teacher arranged for us, and fulfill the grand vows we made before history.

(Clearwisdom.net) I hope that every practitioner can strive towards a solid foundation of care and concern for the whole body of practitioners as well as develop an acute consideration for the needs of our great mission of saving sentient beings. This will help more practitioners become better coordinators, and also allow us to save more sentient beings.

In order to clarify the truth to all the sentient beings that need saving, we need timely feedback on the truth clarification materials that are being produced in each area. Practitioners who distribute materials can record people's responses and consider what the people don't yet know or understand, and what could be improved in the materials. For example, do they need more stories depicting "good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil?" People often raise questions after reading the materials. These questions should be relayed to the practitioners who produce the materials. Timely exposure of the evil's propaganda and persecutory acts is also very important.

Some practitioners would like to clarify the truth, but they don't have access to the necessary materials. If this is the case, can we share the materials we have more effectively, or use other methods to save sentient beings? When we have additional truth clarifying materials in hand, do we think about whether there are some practitioners who cannot get the materials? Practitioners in the neighborhood should actively help each other as one body and together save sentient beings.

When we have truth clarifying materials in our hands, do we have strong righteous thoughts to make the best use of them and let all pre-destined people get the materials? We should treasure the materials because they are not easy to come by. Practitioners work very hard to save money to print them, learn the skills to produce them, and sometimes risk their lives making them.

When we are meeting our magnificent responsibilities of saving sentient beings, we must be aware that the old forces are waiting for us to falter so they can try to cause damage. Therefore when conflicts arise among practitioners, we should quickly and seriously help each other to solve them, and not give the evil and corrupted beings a chance to prevail. Actually, the conflicts in this human world are very trivial, and every one of them can be solved. Let's make use of these good opportunities to improve our xinxing.

Have you ever experienced a time when your Fa study was lagging and you felt like everything was difficult, like sailing against the wind? The reality is, if you are not moving forward, then you are falling behind.

Do you know that the practitioners detained in jails experience each portion of Fa they receive like a rebirth? If the prison guards discover it, then the practitioners could be tortured or have their sentences extended. If the Fa rectification ended tomorrow, but you have not done well today, won't you feel sorry?

Let's move forward together, hand in hand, and do well in the three things that Teacher has asked us to do. We must not let the evil have any chance to live, and we should save as many sentient beings as possible.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since the day I obtained the Fa, I have relied on my belief. I believe in Master and Dafa, and I also believe that my choice of cultivating Falun Dafa is correct. To be a good person is not wrong. No matter what happened in human society, my determination to cultivate never fluctuated. Following Master on the path to godhood is walking on a bright path. During my first five years of personal cultivation, I had never been interrupted with studying the Fa, doing the exercises, and spreading the Fa. During my later 5 years of cultivating during the persecution, I persisted in reading Teacher's books and new articles every day. Even when I was detained, I still recited the Fa, clarified the truth, and sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil.

I'm now 67 years old; I obtained the Fa in 1994. Before that time, I always held a pessimistic view of human life. I thought that a human in this world had only several decades to live and there was no need to compete with one another. I cared little about personal fame and gain, never competed with others, and had no so-called pursuits in life. I thus even looked down upon all sorts of Qigong practices that were popular at that time. One day in November 1994, I read Falun Gong, which my spouse had given me and I entered cultivation in Falun Dafa as if a predestined relationship connected me. After I listened to Master's lectures on tape and watched Master's videotapes of Fa-lectures, my belief in Master and Dafa was deeply rooted in my mind. My cultivation continued for ten years, and was never interrupted.

1. Being detained and persecuted for appealing in Beijing

On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime, in violation of the constitution, started the brutal persecution of Falun Gong based on Jiang's own will. Since then they have detained practitioners, sent practitioners to labor camps, sentenced practitioners to jails, and forced them to be brainwashed and "reformed". They used the army, the police, and the local political thugs to round up and intercept practitioners who tried to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They forced all television stations, radio stations, and the press to overwhelmingly slander, fabricate stories against and frame Falun Gong. In order to speak out for justice, my spouse and I went to Beijing to appeal many times. But every time, we were arrested, locked up, fined and detained. Our house was also searched and ransacked.

On July 20, 1999, all the trains, buses, flights, and ships across the country were controlled and no tickets to Beijing were sold. Thus, seven of us rented a taxi to Beijing. However, we were intercepted before we even left town. The next day, we planned to go to Beijing by bicycle, but failed once again. On the third day, four of us bought tickets to a station that was about 250 kilometers further than our normal route to Beijing. We thus managed to get to Beijing on our return journey. Tiananmen Square and Fuyou Street were crowded with police who were there to arrest practitioners.

In 2000, we went to Beijing to appeal on two more occasions. In March, we were detained right after we registered in the Appeals Office of the National People's Congress. We were then taken back by the officers from the Local Liaison Office in Beijing. We were detained upon our return. Later, we were taken home and monitored by our work units. On December 6, 2000, we went Tiananmen Square again. As soon as we shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Restore our Master's innocent name," our banner was torn away by the police. They pushed us into the police vehicle and then detained us in the Tiananmen Square Police Station.

On the way to Xicheng Detention Center in Beijing, we hung a banner with the words "Falun Dafa is good!" in the police wagon so that people walking on both sides of the street could see it. Because we didn't give them our names, we were detained there for 16 days. At that time, because there were a large number of practitioners detained in every detention center in Beijing, the police started to transfer practitioners to other cities near Beijing. I was sent to Baixiang County Detention Center in Xingtai City, Hebei Province for another two weeks. Simply for being good people and following "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" we were detained for one month.

On December 23 (lunar), 2000, while I was passing out truth-clarification materials, I was arrested. I was detained for two days in the police station before I was sent to the detention center. Because I didn't report my name, they could only use a code. A police officer said to me, "In no more than 2 days, you will confess." I told them, "I didn't commit any bad deed. The detention is illegal."

At the time, there was another detained practitioner. I recited new articles and "Lunyu" for him. We clarified the truth together, recited the Fa, and held upright palms to eliminate the evil whenever we had a chance. We wrote down Master's Fa-rectification formulas on the walls of the jail cell and the walls of other places with chopsticks, hard objects, or our fingers. We wrote as long as we had the chance. In the detention center, we were forced to sit orderly on the beds except when it was the time for eating, sleeping, or using the restrooms. Whenever we sat down, I would hold my palm upright to send forth righteous thoughts. The cell heads all knew that I did this. They also knew the truth about Dafa. Sometimes, they asked me to write Master's poems from Hong Yin for them. At least 5 people there learned the truth and obtained the Fa.

After finding out where I was detained, my family members asked for my release. Finally, after the political head of the police station extorted 5000 yuan from my family without even issuing a receipt, they released me.

2. Clarifying the truth about Dafa and helping predestined people obtain the Fa

Since 2001, my spouse and I have been passing out truth-clarification materials, putting up posters, and hanging banners. We went to places 10 to 20 kilometers from our home to clarify the truth. We also went to small towns and the countryside. We visited relatives, friends, schoolmates, and colleagues. We delivered truth-clarifying materials to mail boxes, baskets on bicycles, carriages for farm goods, vegetable markets and farmers' houses. We put up posters on electric poles, walls, and bridge railings. We passed out the truth-clarifying materials, distributing at least 10-20 copies each time and sometimes as many as 100 copies. Our individual activities were coordinated with that of the whole body.

In 2001, I was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid arrest. In a town, I helped four members of a family of six obtain the Fa through my clarifying the truth to them. An elderly woman in the family recovered from severe heart disease without any treatment. The family runs a business of raising chickens. When SARS and bird influenza was prevalent, not even one chicken from their flock of 5,000 was affected. The egg yield didn't decrease either, but instead increased. The son was working in another area and had a family of three, two of whom obtained the Fa. The son was laid-off in 2000, but he soon found a job with another business. The owner saw that he did very well, and thus increased his monthly salary from 600 yuan to 1200 yuan and promoted him to group leader. He has since been promoted to manager of the materials department. Since he obtained the Fa, he has done everything according to the requirement of "Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance." He tells everybody he comes into contact with that Falun Dafa is good. When Jiang's regime extended its persecution of Dafa into the schools, he told his daughter that if she were asked to defame Dafa on her test papers, she shouldn't answer them and that she should lose the points rather than answer those questions. Although she missed some points by not answering the questions that defamed Dafa, she was admitted to a model high school.

In the days when "The wind and clouds suddenly change, and the heavens seem to crumble" and "the ferocious waves billow," (from "The Knowing Heart" Hongyin, provisional translation) my belief in Dafa was never put into question, which was also the basis that enabled me to "Follow Teacher closely, steadfastly cultivating Dafa" (also from "The Knowing Heart"). There have been things that I have not done well. I will make full use of my time to do well the things that I did not do well in the Fa-rectification period, and be worthy of Master's merciful, arduous salvation.

(Clearwisdom.net) My husband was illegally sentenced in 2002 for practicing Falun Gong. After I heard that my husband was imprisoned in a small cell, my first thought was to go to the prison and ask for his release. I went to the prison and told them the facts about Falun Gong, but felt that it was not very effective when I was telling them the facts.

I looked inward, thought carefully about my actions and found that my heart wasn't so pure. I had hatred and other emotions in my heart. I only thought about not letting my family member get persecuted, but I didn't think about those who participated in the persecution, since they will have to pay back in the future for what they have done. Once I identified my shortcomings, I studied the Fa calmly. I also shared my thoughts with fellow practitioners and thereby raised my xinxing level. I went to the prison again, not only for rescuing my husband, but also to clarify the truth and to offer people salvation. I wanted to create a bright future for them.

The power of kindness is enormous. When we truly want to do good things for them [the persecutors] from our hearts without having any selfishness, they can really feel our kindness and make the right decision. A few days later my husband was released from the small cell.

(Clearwisdom.net) In the summer of 1995 my sister was 16 years old. One day that summer she felt a sudden pain in the area of her cervical vertebrae, and her fingers became numb. It was so painful that she could not hold back her tears. In March 1997, my sister's fingers became numb again. The numbness then spread to her back, and became increasingly serious. She then had a magnetic resonance (MRI) test at the local hospital and discovered the illness. The test result indicated that there was a tumor the size of a grain of sorghum between the fourth and fifth vertebrae. The doctor told my parents that the hospital was not able to treat it, that they must seek treatment at a hospital in Beijing. My parents became very worried.

On April 8, 1997, the local hospital referred us to Xuanwu Hospital of Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, a nationally recognized hospital that specialized in the treatment of neurological and internal illnesses. My mother and sister went together to this hospital. By that time, my sister had difficulty walking or raising her hands, because the tumor had grown larger.

When they reached the hospital, experts examined my sister. The results were conveyed. The doctor asked my mother why my father had not come with them. My mother said that my father wasn't well, that he had heart disease and cerebral thrombosis. The doctor said my sister's condition was serious and he feared that my mother might not be able to make the decision alone. He advised that my father come to the hospital to discuss my sister's treatment options. Without any other choice, my ill father went to the hospital in Beijing.

The doctor met with my father and told him that hope for my sister's recovery was minimal. The tumor not only pressed against a limb nerve, but also pressed against a nerve of the respiratory system. That was why her breathing was labored. The doctor indicated that if the respiratory system nerve was harmed she would not get off the operating table. The doctor didn't have any confidence about surgery being successful for her. They had never treated this kind of case. My sister's situation was a tough one.

After more than 20 days in the Xuanwu Hospital, the doctor suggested that we take my sister home, since she did not look ill and was still able to move around. The doctor, however, believed that, because the tumor was growing, my sister would soon become paralyzed. The doctor indicated that when this happened, we could bring her to the hospital again. The doctor thought there were several benefits to this approach. First, the patient would not suffer a sudden death, she would have more time to live. Secondly, my parents would not have to suffer the grief of immediately losing a child, as my sister could lie in a bed for a period of time. With a later surgery, even if it were unsuccessful, the family would not suffer as much, and if the surgery would be successful, then we would be very fortunate. Since modern medical technology could not cure my sister's illness, having more money would not have made any difference.

On May 8, 1997, my parents and my sister came back home and waited helplessly. Just as the doctor had predicted, my sister soon had to stay in bed. My parents, in their 60s, took care of all of her daily needs. My sister could only talk a little and raise her hands. Her breathing became more and more labored. The situation was very painful for her and for my parents.

My parents would not give up; they kept searching for a cure. They tried the approach of Chinese traditional medicine to treat her illness. My sister also took various drugs. Nothing worked. Her condition became increasingly worse with each day.

One day I received a letter from one of my grandparent's brother. In the letter he recommended Falun Gong and said Falun Gong was the only hope for my sister. The next morning my parents, full of hope, went searching for a Falun Gong practice site. They met Falun Gong practitioners, borrowed a cassette of exercise music, and located a practice site. My sister started listening to Teacher's recorded lectures. A miracle occurred right away: her labored breathing became normal again. Very quickly she could manage to change sides of the cassette by herself. On the third day, miraculously, she was able to sit up. The family was amazed. Three days later she could manage to get out of bed and relieve herself. On the 7^th day, my father joyfully went to the practice site and learned the exercises. It took him two mornings to learn the exercises. On the 9^th day, he began to teach the exercises to my sister. When they were doing the 4^th exercise (the Falun Heavenly Circuit) my sister's hands could not extend below her knee. My father told her to try her best, but she still could not do so. The next day, (her second attempt to practice) she was able to reach her hand to the full position. On the 7^th day of practicing the exercises, my sister expressed that she wanted to go to the practice site. My parents worried about her mobility. My sister said that she would be fine, she could try to walk a little and then stop to rest a bit. She got up at 4:30 a.m. the next morning and walked to the practice site without stop. When she reached her destination my parents were so amazed and happy that they did not know what to do or say. All of these miracles that occurred were unbelievable. However, they did happen. My sister was so touched she could not hold back her tears. She survived because of Falun Dafa, which gave her a second chance at life. Falun Dafa brought renewed happiness to my family. My whole family did not know how to express our gratitude to Teacher. My father bought Dafa books and Teacher's recorded lecture, and started to joyfully practice Falun Gong with my sister. Later, my mother and I began practicing as well, and we were bathed in Buddha's infinite grace.

In the past my father's heart wasn't well. He often took heart medicines. In 1992, he got cerebral thrombosis. At one point he had to stay in a hospital for a few months. His condition was not good. After practicing Falun Gong my father no longer needed to take drugs, as the cerebral thrombosis disappeared. In addition to the miracle that occurred with my sister, the whole family was indescribably happy. Every time we mentioned Teacher's compassion, we were moved and tears poured down. It is hard to describe the feelings we had.

Today my sister has resumed working at her previous company. She's married and has a child. Her family lives a happy and fulfilling life. Many people in our circle of friends know about the miracle. One of my friends once hosted a wedding party for a couple. At the party he heard someone slander Dafa and my friend spoke up to clarify the truth to that person. He said, "My friend's sister was once paralyzed and after she learned Dafa she was able to stand up, I saw it with my own eyes. What you see on TV is fabrication." In 2003, he hosted my sister's wedding. At the wedding, my father said the following, "To my daughter's new life. Who I should thank for it you all know...." That was right, the people who went to the wedding all knew about it. It was Teacher, Li Hongzhi who saved my sister. It was Falun Dafa that gave my sister another life. Because of this family and friends had the opportunity to come together and celebrate the wedding.

I write our story to share our experiences, and to tell people, "Falun Dafa is Good, Falun Dafa is a righteous way." We want to share the goodness of Falun Dafa with all compassionate people in this world. Falun Dafa has brought so much happiness to my family. We also wish that those who have been misled by Jiang and his followers' lies will see through the fabrications and wake up quickly. Only then, like us, will you be given the same great heavenly fortune from Dafa.

Mr. Chen Guanghui, 38, is a graduate of Nanjing University. He was a former manager and Assistant Director for the Computer Section at Lianyungang Branch of China Construction Bank. Because he practiced Falun Dafa, Mr. Chen was sentenced to six years of imprisonment and detained at Suzhou Prison in September 2001.

Mr. Chen Guanghui sustained a serious head injury on July 29, 2004 while in prison. Since then, he has been comatose and his life is in grave danger.

A doctor from the 12^th Section of the Thoracic Surgery Department of Suzhou's First University Affiliated Hospital confirmed that Mr. Chen was taken to the hospital on July 29, 2004. The coma index was three, and he was in a vegetative state.

Mr. Chen Guanghui has been comatose for nearly six months. He has a serious lung infection and constant fever. He was given a tracheotomy and his life is maintained by an oxygen cylinder. Still, the guards keep a close watch on him. Even in this severe situation, the responsible authorities have not allowed his release on bail for medical treatment, nor do they allow his family to care for him. The Suzhou Prison staff even attempted to move Mr. Chen from the hospital back to the prison, and forced Mr. Chen's family to guarantee that they would not appeal on behalf of Falun Gong or file complaints about the injustice.

2. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Ms. Meng Jie from Kaian Town Arrested

Around 9:30 a.m. on January 10, 2005, a white police vehicle and a white van arrived at Ms. Meng Jie's home in Kaian Town, Nongan County. Six or seven policemen from Kaian Town's Police Station and officials from Kaian Town Government emerged from the vehicles. They claimed they were there as rent managers, and requested that Ms. Meng open the door. Ms. Meng knew they were lying and did not open the door. She asked them: "What are you trying to do? Who gave you the order?" They answered: "Jiang Zemin," and then kicked the door open. Without allowing her to utter another word, they carried her into the van, along with her friends who had come to visit. Ms. Meng was not wearing a warm coat, and her slippers were lost during the arrest. Her teenage daughter was left alone at home.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Xu Qiang Missing for Over Four Years; His Family Dared Not Speak out for Fear of Persecution

Mr. Xu Qiang, a 32-year-old college graduate, lived in Building 52, 1 Keyanli, Linghe District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. He served as a volunteer Falun Gong assistant. At the end of May and in early June 2000, he went to Beijing and appealed on behalf of Falun Gong. Around 3 p.m. on June 2, 2000, Mr. Xu was in Beijing and called a fellow practitioner in Jinzhou City. He asked the practitioner to tell his mother to bring him some money. He has not been heard from since.

For the past four years, Mr. Xu Qiang 's family suffered the pain of his disappearance in silence. They did not dare to expose the situation for fear of further persecution.

4. [Heilongjiang Province] Former School Principal Ms. Yang Shuzhen on the Brink of Death in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Around 9 p.m. on March 2, 2004, Sun Jimin and other personnel from the Public Security Section of the Huludao City's Oil Refinery and Chemical General Factory abducted Ms. Yang Shuzhen, a retired employee (formerly the School Principal for the First Elementary School of the Oil Refinery and Chemical General Factory). They falsely claimed that the factory director wanted to talk to her. On the morning of March 3, Ms. Yang Shuzhen was sent to the Public Security Bureau of Lianshan District and tortured.

Later, Ms. Yang Shuzhen was sentenced to forced labor and transferred to Masanjia Labor Camp. She was detained in Group 1, Brigade 1 in the Second Female Camp. She was brutally tortured in Masanjia Labor Camp. Formerly in vibrant health, her hair is turning white and her skin is pallid. She is very weak and has heart disease, frequently suffering heart attacks. Her life is in grave danger.

On December 28, 2004, 35-year-old Ms. Cui Yaning from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province had completed her sentence after being detained for three years. Because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong, Masanjia Forced Labor Camp officials extended her term for nearly a year. With no warrant or legal procedure, Zhang Qiang, the head of the 610 Office in Pingchang County, Sichuan Province, led the police of the National Security Team to illegally enter Ms. Lu Chunshan's home on January 13, 2005. They searched her home, confiscated her property, forcibly arrested Ms. Lu, and took her to the National Security Team. Then she was detained in the Detention Center of Pingchang County.

On October 19, 2004, police of Naerhong Police Station of Sanchazi Forestry Bureau of Jilin Province arrested Huang Xuelin and Jiang Huanxin, employees at Hongshi Forestry Bureau of Jilin Province, while they were distributing truth-clarification materials. They are being held in the detention center of Sanchazi Forestry Bureau. The Procuratorate of the Sanchazi Forestry Bureau authorized the arrest of Huang Xuelin and Jiang Huanxin. The court held an illegal trial over the last ten days of December 2004, but no verdict was delivered.

10. [Guangxi Province] More Than Ten Guigang City Practitioners Arrested

On January 14, 2005, Ms. Xie Huiping, Ms. Tang Yixing and her daughter, and about ten other Falun Dafa practitioners from Guigang City, Guangxi Province were arrested. Their homes were searched and many Falun Dafa books and materials were confiscated.

11. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Zhao Baoxiang Tortured at Luotai Mountain Retreat in Fushun City

Mr. Zhao Baoxiang lives in Nanshancheng Township, Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province. On November 29, 2004, someone reported him to the police station when he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. The Nanshancheng Police Station arrested him and searched his home. Mr. Zhao is being detained and tortured in Luotai Mountain Retreat, Fushun City. The officials do not permit his family to visit him.

13. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Lin Bai and Three Other Practitioners Arrested

Around 8:00 p.m. on January 12, 2005, over ten policemen in Fushun City pried open a security door and arrested Mr. Lin Bai (over 40 years old) and Ms. Wang Guoying (about 40 years old). Ms. Cheng Min and her husband were arrested at the same time. Ms. Cheng is in her twenties; she was arrested at her workplace while working a night shift.

14. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Ms. He Jiao Arrested; Her Whereabouts Are Unknown

On January 6, 2005, Ms. He Jiao, a highly respected teacher at the Experimental Middle School of Hubei Province was arrested by Maojian District Public Security Bureau while playing a truth-clarifying VCD for students. Her whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Mr. Lu Jun Relentlessly Persecuted

Mr. Lu Jun was a worker at the Laozuoshan Gold Mine in Heilongjiang Province. On March 17, 2004, he was arrested by the Beixing Farm Branch Police Department for telling people the truth about Falun Dafa. He was detained at the Beixing Farm Detention Center and endured electric shocks and severe beatings. On March 29, he was transferred to the Hongxinglong Detention Center. On April 30, he was secretly transferred back to the Beixing Farm Detention Center. He was detained with no legal procedures. On June 1, the local police extorted 2000 yuan from his family and released him.

On November 15, Lu Jun wrote a truth-clarification letter to the Laozuoshan Police Department and was again arrested. Mr. Lu was secretly sent to the Jianshan River Administrative Bureau's Brainwashing Center located on the Qixing Farm. The Agricultural Development General Bureau of Heilongjiang Province established the base. His workplace pays 13,000 yuan each year to the center.

On December 14, 2004, with strong righteous thoughts, both Mr. Lu Jun and another practitioner escaped from the facility.

16. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Ms. Zhao Derong and Ms. Liang Yufeng Arrested

On November 6, 2004, Ms. Zhao Derong and Ms. Liang Yufeng from Luzhou City, Sichuan Province were arrested by the 610 Office while clarifying the truth to people at Lantianba market. They are now detained in Naxi District Detention Center in Luzhou City.

On the evening of January 13, 2005, while distributing truth-clarifying materials, practitioners Ms. Huang Guizhi and Ms. Wang Yumei (both about 52 years old) from Ciyutuo Oil Extraction Factory of Liaohe Oil Field were arrested by Li Chengxiang, director of the Sifangtai Town Police Station in Liaozhong County, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.

18. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] The Crimes of Lawless Officials in Dafengying Town

On the evening of December 18, 2004, Ms. Jie and her husband's elder sister Ms. Jia Xiuyun (employee of Jiheng Chemical Plant in Hengshui City) from Dafengying Village, Dafengying Town, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province went to Yewuzhai Village to distribute the truth-clarifying materials and clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to the kindhearted villagers. They were reported by Li Zhenrong, vice secretary of the village's Party Committee and soon after were arrested by police from 610 Office of Shenzhou City Public Security Bureau. Additionally, their homes were ransacked.

Ms. Jie was forced to write a Guarantee Statement and they extorted 10,000 yuan from her before she was released. This brought great difficulty to this poor rural family. Ms. Jia Xiuyun is still being detained in Shenzhou City Detention Center. Ms. Jia has been on hunger strike for several days to resist the persecution.

The Dongshan District Public Security Bureau recently arrested Mr. Zhou Zhaohui from Dongshan District, Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province while he was making truth-clarifying materials.

20. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioners Ms. Zhou Fenglan and Ms. Luo Xiufang Arrested

On the evening of January 15, 2005, Ms. Zhou Fenglan and Ms. Luo Xiufang from the agricultural high-tech industrial park in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province were arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in Mantang Village, Mantang Town, Panshan scenic resort, Shenyang City. They are currently detained in Mantang Town Police Station.

22. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Kong Shuzhen Once Again Arrested in Yazijuan

On January 14, 2005, Ms. Kong Shuzhen (58 years old) from Pingfang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying VCDs to people in Jianguo Park in Daoli District, Harbin City. Gongle Police Station sent her to Gangtie Police Station, and Gangtie Police Station sent her to Yazijuan for detention and persecution. Simply for clarifying the truth, this is the second time she was arrested by Gangtie Police Station and taken to Yazijuan, detained and persecuted.

24. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Many Arrested

In early January 2005, many practitioners in Zunhua City were arrested and their homes were ransacked. It was reported that Mr. Liu Wuzi suffered cruel torture and fainted more than two times.

25. [Zhumiluo City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Xiaoming and Ms. Peng Guixian Sentenced to Forced Labor

Ms. Wu Xiaoming, a sanitation toll collector in Miluo City Nitrogenous Fertilizer Factory, was arrested at home by Miluo City police one night in March 2004. The police confiscated her Falun Dafa books and sentenced her to 1 year of forced labor. She is detained in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. Ms. Wu Xiaoming is often forced to sit still for several hours by the guards as a way of punishment in attempts to force her to give up her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance."

Ms. Peng Guixian, a retired employee of Miluo City Nitrogenous Fertilizer Factory, was arrested at home in March 2004 and her home was ransacked. She was sentenced to 1 year of forced labor and detained in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.

Ms. Zheng Qiuliang, a retired employee of Miluo City Grain Administration was arrested at home in March 2004 and her home was ransacked. She escaped, yet her whereabouts are unknown.

Facts of the Persecution

1. Persecution of Dafa practitioners in Jing County, Hebei Province

On the afternoon of November 17, 2004, Dafa practitioners Zhao Xiulan and her sister-in-law Zhu Yuying, in Jing County, Hebei Province, went to Anzhuang to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. They were reported and abducted. The perpetrators sent them to Jing County's Detention Center. The two practitioners held a hunger strike for about six days in protest of the illegal arrest, and a police officer from Lian Town force-fed them. On the eighth day, Ms. Zhao and Ms. Zhu were sent to Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, but the labor camp refused to take them after a routine physical exam showed them to be physically unfit. The perpetrators insisted on leaving Zhu Yuying at the labor camp and took Zhao Xiulan back. They phoned Zhao Xiulan's husband who had no idea of his wife's abduction, and ordered him to pay 2,000 yuan before taking her home.

On November 30, 2004, villagers Zhu Yuhai and Shi Hai from Zhujiaguan Village, Qinglan Township, Jing County, Hebei Province led officers Yang Wenzhuang, Li Guisheng and others from the Jing County Police Department to the homes of practitioners Zhu Hailiang, Zhu Liming and Zhu Xingzhong. The perpetrators ransacked their homes under the pretense that "someone reported the practitioners distributing truth clarification flyers." Zhu Liming's husband, Yan Jun, was illegally sentenced to 20 months in prison, and the perpetrators took away practitioner Zhu Xingzhong's Dafa books.

2. Dafa practitioner Huang Fenghua in Baoding City brutally tortured for her belief

In 2002, practitioner Huang Fenghua was arrested in Baoding City and was sent to the Hongxing Road Police Station. She was later sent to a forced labor camp. Upon arrival at the labor camp, Ms. Huang was forced to stand in a hallway for a few days; then she was forced to go to an office and squat on the floor while holding her head with both arms for one whole day. She succumbed to the pressure and renounced Dafa. Later, because she said, "Falun Gong is not an evil [slanderous term omitted]," the perpetrators took her to a small office and made her stand for four or five consecutive days and nights without allowing her to sleep. In response, Ms. Huang began a hunger strike. On November 15, 2004, the fourth day of her hunger strike, perpetrator Zhang Guohong said he wanted to talk to her, and tricked Huang Fenghua into going to the ground floor, where he force-fed her. Ms. Huang was very weak and the perpetrators tortured her on purpose. Because she was too weak to work at forced labor, Ms. Huang's sentence was extended by three months.

3. Recent persecution of Dafa practitioners at the Shandong Province Prison

Currently, more than 40 Dafa practitioners are being held at the Shandong Province Prison. They are under tremendous pressure, as the perpetrators force them to study "reform materials" and make them write reports on a daily basis. If their reports don't conform to the perpetrators' standards, the practitioners are made to re-write them. If the practitioners again write a different report than what the perpetrators want, the perpetrators place them under Level One Strict Control, under which the practitioner is cruelly tortured and mentally tormented.

Even practitioners in their 60s and 70s are not spared from the inhuman mistreatments. Sixty-two-year-old practitioner Huang Min from Jiamusi City was illegally sentenced to 20 years in prison. She has been placed under Level One Strict Control in Ward 11, where she is watched around the clock and does not have any personal freedom. As the Chinese New Year approaches, the situation has worsened.

4. Gansu Province Women's Prison is a demon's den

Most of the female Dafa practitioners illegally sentenced to prison in Gansu Province are held at the Gansu Province Women's Prison, including Wang Ailan, Zhang Jinmei, Tang Qong, Yi Xiaolan, Tan Hui, Liu Lanying and others. The perpetrators force the practitioners to do slave labor and provide them with very poor food. They don't allow the practitioners to rest, even after doing heavy labor; they brainwash the practitioners and deprive them of their personal freedom such as shopping, talking, getting water and meeting with their families. We hope the families of persecuted Dafa practitioners can hurry up and oppose the persecution along with other practitioners.
