Remembering July 20, 1999: The Laws are Ignored or Abused According to the Dictator's Whim (Warning: Graphic Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Constitution promises Chinese citizens many rights, such as
freedom of belief, freedom of speech, the right to appeal, the right to
assemble, the right to personal safety, etc. Chinese law also puts many legal
restrictions on government officers. For instance, confessions cannot legally be
extorted by torture, detentions cannot be extended without justification, etc.
Recently, "human rights" have been included in the Constitution. The
National Supreme Procuratorate has also issued a notice to investigate any cases
involving the infringement of human rights. At the same time, however, a terrifying case of physical disfigurement has
recently occurred. According to a Minghui Website report on July 7, 36-year-old female Falun
Gong practitioner Gao Rongrong's face was seriously disfigured after nearly
seven hours of torture with electric batons by police, including Tang Yubao,
while she was detained in Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning
Province. We can see from the first photo that Gao Rongrong was an attractive woman
before her detention. Simply because she refused to give up her belief in
Truth-Compassion-Tolerance, she was detained and subjected to repeated shocks
with electric batons. On May 7, Tang Yubao and other policemen used electric
batons on the faces of several Falun Gong practitioners, including Jin Kegui and
Liang Shujie. Consequently, Jin's face was covered with large areas of serious
burn wounds and swelling. The skin around her eyes was black and bruised. Pus
and blood oozed out of the areas where the skin was broken. She couldn't walk
normally after the beating, and her daughter was not allowed to visit her. These are not isolated incidents. Similar violence towards Falun Gong
practitioners occurs everywhere in forced labor camps, detention centers,
prisons and brainwashing centers across China. In the past five years,
practitioners have been abducted and tortured for persisting in their belief,
for going to appeal in Beijing, and for explaining the truth to the public.
Where is their freedom of belief? Where is their right to appeal? Where is their
freedom of speech? Where are their human rights? Why are policemen who violate
the law like Tang Yubao still not punished by the law? Why doesn't the
National Supreme Procuratorate investigate them? It seems that for Jiang
Zemin, the Chinese Constitution and the laws and regulations of the
National Supreme Procuratorate are simply a waste of paper and mean
nothing at all. Jiang's group arbitrarily persecutes, tortures and kills
innocent people, totally beyond the reach of the written law. At the same time, Jiang's group is notorious for twisting the interpretation
of legitimate laws, and using them to persecute Falun Gong "in the name of
law". Police in many places detain practitioners on the pretext of
"disturbing social order." In fact, it is the police who are
disturbing the social order. They arbitrarily abduct, torture, insult and extort
money from practitioners, who only want to be good people. They dedicate so much
of their resources to "handling the Falun Gong issue" that there is no
time left to deal with the true criminals, who simply run free. They are
restraining the good and abetting the evil, which contributes to the continual
decline in social order. China's judiciary is not independent of China's dictatorship. The courts are
controlled by Jiang's group and the CCP. These kangaroo courts apply the
so-called "Anti Evil Cult Act" to Falun Gong practitioners. In 1999,
Jiang unlawfully overextended his power as the president of the country in
labeling Falun Gong as an "evil cult". After that, the National
People's Congress, the supreme organ of state power and the highest legislative
body, hurriedly contrived the so-called "Anti Evil Cult Act" to meet
the whim of the dictator. The Act did not define what an "evil cult"
is, which leaves a great deal of room for those in power to frame good people
and to confuse good with bad. Those who wrote the law did not refer to Falun
Gong by name at all due to their guilty conscience. However, the so-called
courts have "interpreted" the Act as needed in order to frame kind and
innocent Falun Gong practitioners. They even criminalized the lawful behavior of
Falun Gong practitioners before the law was made! This so-called law is simply a
dictator's whim used to frame and persecute innocent people. A regime that regards legitimate law as a waste of paper, preferring its own
brand of "justice", is politically irresponsible. It manipulates the
legal and judiciary systems. It manipulates state resources and news media. It
oppresses people and does whatever it likes. When this politically manipulative
group abuses the law, it also abuses morality and justice, the very foundation
of the law. It makes China less and less a society governed by law. It degrades
the morality of Chinese society. It is pushing the Chinese nation towards the
abyss. July 21, 2004 Posting date: 7/24/2004 |
