Shortly before the Spring Festival (January 2004), many Falun Dafa truth-clarification greeting cards were found in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. Ms Liu Yunhua, Ms. Zhai Yuxin and Ms. Zhu Jianning were arrested in relation to this. We believe they are being held in the Nanjing Detention Center. Ms. Zhai Yuxin was once sent to a forced labor camp for one year and a half, and later had her term extended by 10 more months. Ms. Zhu Jianning was sentenced to a forced labor camp for two years, with the term extended for one more year.

The practitioners were distributing the greeting cards to people near where they live, without taking safety precautions. The rest of the materials were not moved to a safe place in time and were taken away by the authorities

2. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Wu Suqiu Sentenced to Four Years Imprisonment

Liuying Police Station took Ms. Wu Suqiu into custody on June 16, 2003, and held her in the First Detention Center. On January 12, 2004, she was sent to Shijiazhuang City No.2 Prison, where she was sentenced to four years.

During the night of February 13, 2004, Ms. Ma Suyuan was taken away by half a dozen people near Shuaizhong County Detention Center, Huludao City. Ms. Ma demanded an explanation from her captors, but they did not say a word. They may be police from the detention center. It is not known where Ms. Ma is currently being held.

Around the Spring Festival, the Tumen Police Station National Security Brigade and all the local police stations went on a rampage mass arrest Falun Dafa practitioners and take them into custody, under orders from the local "610 Office" [the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems].

Mr. Wang Shaofu was an employee of Tumen Railway Station. On January 18, 2004, someone reported to police when Mr. Wang was talking to people about Falun Dafa. He was taken into custody. At the same time, approximately eight Falun Dafa practitioners' homes were ransacked.

On February 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. Mr. Jin Yongnan, 57 years old, was taken away from his home by a number of police officers, leaving his 85-year-old mother and a very sick wife at home. On the same day at 12 noon, the home of practitioner Huang Fushun from Tumen City, Qushui Township was ransacked and he was taken into custody. Ms. Meng Fanqin from the same area was also taken away. They are being held either at the Tumen City Dentention Center or the Tumen Railway Station Detention Center.

At noon on December 22, 2003, police from the Zhaogezhuang Mine of Kailuan City "610 Office" stormed into Mr. Yang Shiyou's home. They took away Mr. Yang along with some Dafa books and materials. Mr. Yang has been held at a hostel run by the Mine for about two weeks now. The police officer took turns interrogating him in an attempt to brainwash him. As Mr. Yang Shiyou had sent letters to Zhang He, the former mayor and now the current municipal party secretary, and to Chen Man, the associate party secretary and head of the local "610 Office," we know that they are both personally involved in Mr. Yang's case.

Cheng Jianhua, President of the Institute of Experiments of Harbin Industrial University, withheld recent graduate and Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Lin's graduation diploma, simply because she refused to renounce Falun Dafa while she was a student there. As a result, Zhao Lin is having a lot of difficulties finding a job and /or continuing her education.

Mr. Zhang Heshan, 55 years old, a secondary school teacher from Changshan Township, Songyuan City, is an honest, kind and hardworking man. Everybody at school can attest to his integrity.

In 2000, his school suspended his salary because of his belief in Falun Gong and subsequently dismissed him. Mr. Zhang's family was already living below the poverty line. It is even worse now. On January 10, 2002, Mr. Zhang was abducted and taken to the Qianguo County Detention Center under the directives of Li You and Yang Guozhong, former Chief of the Changshan Public Security Subdivision. After 20 days in the center, he was sent to one year in a forced labor camp in Jiutai City.

Mr. Zhang was released in 2003, and in August of the same year, he was taken into custody again while he was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to people in Songyuan City. He was first held at the Qianguo County Detention Center and later transferred to the Ningjiang District Oilfield Detention Center, where he continues to be held. The police refuse to release him, and his family has not been allowed to visit him.
