Dafa Practitioner Xu Dongqin of Wuhan City, Hubei Province was persecuted for practicing Falun Gong. As she was constantly harassed, she was forced to live away from home. After returning home in July 2004, her work unit at Wuhan Tongji Hospital refused to let her resume work. Instead, she was put under constant surveillance, causing her a great deal of mental stress. Finally, she died on September 8, 2004 as a result of persecution.

Previously, Ms Xu Dongqin, age 54, a former employee of Wuhan Tongji Hospital had suffered from many diseases before practicing Falun Dafa. After taking up the practice, she recovered from her many ailments and sicknesses.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime began to openly persecute Falun Gong and its practitioners, but Xu still continued to practice. However, the police and her workforce officials closely watched her activities. In October 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for the injustice done to Falun Gong and was arrested by officers of the 610 Office. She was detained for over a month at E'touwan Detention Center, where she was tortured severely. With her righteous mind, she was finally released from the detention center. After returning to work, her work unit and the housing committee watched her every movement, and tapped her home telephone.

On December 29, 2000, news came that Xu would be arrested again, so she decided to leave home. Police officers and others searched high and low for her, at her home and her relatives' homes. As she was away from work, they terminated her wages. Her family then immediately fell into financial difficulty. For three years, she was roaming around, which exhausted her both physically and mentally.

On returning home after July 2004, her work unit would not let her resume her work duties. Instead, they continued to harass her, watching her every activity. Finally, on September 8, 2004, she collapsed and died as a result of the long-term persecution she had suffered.
