Sun Jiazheng is one of the main accomplices of Jiang's faction in the persecution of Falun Gong. Over the past five years, he has actively participated in the Jiang group's campaign of genocide against Falun Gong practitioners. His crimes include destroying Falun Gong books nationwide, establishing a large "Internet Project" to oversee, check and block the truth about Falun Gong. Many Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, sentenced to prison and even tortured to death because they used the Internet to download or send materials to clarify the truth about Falun Gong.

In mid November, Sun Jiazheng led directors of the culture departments from different provinces and cities to attend the "Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum 2004" held in Hong Kong. On the morning of November 14, two groups of Falun Gong practitioners went to the place where Sun Jiazheng's motorcade would pass by and the main entrance to the Government House complex where he would attend the meeting. Practitioners held aloft banners reading "Falun Dafa is Good," and "Strongly protest against Minister of Culture Sun Jiazheng for instigating hatred in persecuting Falun Gong." Dozens of practitioners in another group went to the side entrance of the complex to send forth righteous thoughts.

On the morning of November 15, while Sun Jiazheng was attending a conference with culture ministers from other Asian countries, dozens of practitioners arrived at the main entrance and side entrance of the International Financial Center where the conference was being held, held banners to protest and sent forth righteous thoughts. Some practitioners handed out truth clarification materials on nearby busy streets to help more people learn about the crimes committed by Jiang's faction and Sun Jiazheng.

That afternoon, Sun Jiazheng came to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to attend the opening ceremony of the Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum. Practitioners marched to the conference site to protest. At the press conference before the parade set off, Australian practitioner David Liang made a speech to expose the Jiang faction's hiring gunmen in South Africa to shoot and seriously injure his feet. David Liang emphasized that the terrorist attack was unable to prevent him from continuing to peacefully appeal and expose the persecution, because the evil is afraid of being exposed.

The police looked quite nervous because of pressure from the higher authorities, and many policemen were dispatched to monitor the practitioners' activities. Falun Gong practitioners took the opportunity to clarify the truth to the police. After listening to practitioners' explanations, they said that they know Falun Gong practitioners are good people and very peaceful.

A Partial List of Practitioners from Yunnan Province Murdered by Jiang Zemin's Followers

(Clearwisdom.net)

1. Mr. Kong Qinghuang

Mr. Kong Qinghuang, 33, resided in Jianshui, Yun'nan Province. He was Deputy Mayor of Lin'an Town, Jianshui County, Yun'nan Province. In 2000 Lin'an Town's People's Congress concluded on April 7, 2000. On that day, Mr. Kong courageously clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the local people based on his own experiences of the practice. He shared with them the fact that he had become a perfectly healthy man since he started to practice Falun Gong. He also confessed that he became an honest government official because Falun Gong helped him to improve his morality.

But the local authorities "showed their appreciation" by putting Mr. Kong under house arrest, subjecting him to brainwashing, and illegally ransacking his home. On April 9, 2000, the local police abducted Mr. Kong Qinghuang and incarcerated him in Jianshui County Detention Center. The local authorities accused him of trying to agitate people by appealing to their superstitions and removed him from his post as the Deputy Mayor of Lin'an Town. When he was released and returned to work on May 9, 2000, he had to deliver newspapers and perform other menial duties.

On June 9, 2000, Mr. Kong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. When he returned home on June 28, Jianshui County's "610 Office" and State Security Brigade abducted him and detained him in Jianshui County Detention Center for the second time. Mr. Kong went on a hunger strike as a peaceful way to protest the persecution. After he had been on the hunger strike for over ten days, the torturers at the detention center started to punitively force-feed (1) him, repeating the torture every four to five days.

At the beginning of August, the detention center stopped the punitive force-feeding and resorted to giving him infusions every five to six days. On August 25, the staff in the detention center finally checked him into the hospital where the doctor took several vials of blood from him for analysis. After Mr. Kong was admitted to the hospital, his health rapidly deteriorated and he became extremely frail and weak.

On September 1, Mr. Kong Qinghuang agreed to eat, but the next day he suddenly went into a coma. The hospital invited a medical expert to help with the diagnosis. The doctors found that Mr. Kong's skin had turned yellow for unknown reasons. They concluded that he must have been poisoned. Mr. Kong Qinghuang died at 9:00 p.m. on September 3, 2000.

2. Ms. Huang Jumei

Ms. Huang was born in 1954. She was a laborer at Kunming City's Civil Administration Company. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Huang suffered from high blood pressure and more than 20 other illnesses. She was so ill that she had to quit her job at the early age of 26. Tormented by illness for many years, Ms. Huang would lose her temper very easily and often bickered with her mother-in-law. The atmosphere at home was often tense and stressful. After Ms. Huang started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, all of her illnesses went away without a trace and she became healthier each day. She became very kind and affectionate and was known for her consideration for other people. She started to get along very well with her mother-in-law. The entire family began to enjoy warmth and happiness at home.

When Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, she clarified the truth to the local people based on her own cultivation experiences. In 2002, the local police abducted Ms. Huang and put her in a detention center, where they subjected her to many types of cruel torture. During the process, Ms. Huang's blood pressure surged to 280/120. The police did not notify her family of her precarious health until they put her into the hospital. Ms. Huang died shortly after she was admitted to the hospital.

3. Ms. Tan Zaizhi

Ms. Tan used to work for the Chinese Herbal Pharmacy in the Dongchuan District Traditional Chinese Hospital in Kunming City, Yun'nan Province. Before Ms. Tan practiced Falun Gong, she suffered from nephritis, a chronic inflammation of the kidney, and several other illnesses. Because she did not have enough money, she left her illnesses untreated. Her nephritis eventually turned into uremia, an accumulation in the blood of waste products normally eliminated in the urine that produces a severe toxic condition.

After Ms. Tan started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, all of her illnesses disappeared without any medical treatment. She became very healthy from then on. On February 14, 2000, the local police abducted her because she participated in a group exercise practice in Dongchuan, and illegally detained her for 27 days. After she was released, the Traditional Chinese Hospital fired her from her job because she would not renounce Falun Gong. The area's "610 Office" and the local police not only put her under surveillance around the clock, but also went to her home and harassed her. They also pressured her husband, who worked at the Agriculture Bank, into making her stop practicing Falun Gong, or they would suspend his salary. Her husband and her son gave in to their terrorist tactics and smashed her boom box and exercise tapes so that she could not practice the Falun Gong exercises. They also hid her Falun Gong books so that she could not read them any more. As a result, Ms. Tan's nephritis resurfaced, and her body became swollen. Her family plotted with a doctor and coaxed her to the hospital. They then held her to the bed while giving her infusions and drugs against her will. Their brutal acts caused her illness to accelerate, and Ms. Tan died at midnight on April 26, 2001.

4. Mr. Li Junqing

Mr. Li Junqing was born in May 1947. He was an employee at the Security Division of the Xiaolongtan Electricity Plant of Kaiyuan City's Electricity Bureau in Kaiyuan City, Yun'nan Province. Mr. Li Junqing witnessed and was impressed with the physical and spiritual improvements in his wife after she started to practice Falun Gong, so he read Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong's main text.

In July 2002, Mr. Li Junqing traveled alone to Yanji while his wife was under illegal detention. On July 13, the local police in Yanji abducted him after finding several copies of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. The Yanji police then sentenced him to serve time in Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. In October 2002, Mr. Li Junqing called his wife Ms. Lu Huiyi, who had already been released, from inside Yinmahe and talked to her on the phone for about three minutes, telling her that he would be released after the New Year 2003.

Shortly afterwards his wife received bad news. On December 17, 2002, Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp called his wife and told her that her husband had diabetes. After he was sick for four days, they sent him to the hospital for emergency resuscitation, but he died at 4:00 a.m. on December 17, 2002.

Mr. Li Junqing had always been very healthy. He had never had diabetes. Mr. Li Junqing's son and his brother went to Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp to pick up his cremated ashes, but the camp did not give them any medical report. The actual cause of his death remains a mystery.

5. Xie Hongyu

Mr. Xie was born in November 1978. He came from Xintang Village, Xinfu Township, Simao District, Yun'nan Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1998 while he was studying at the University of Science and Technology of China in Anhui Province. He conducted himself strictly according to Falun Gong's cultivation principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and became known as an excellent student at school. After Jiang Zemin's senseless persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Xie Hongyu went to Beijing three times with fellow practitioners to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result, the "610 Office" at school and the local police persecuted him. The Head of the Anhui Provincial Committee met with him once directly to try to coerce him into giving up his belief in Falun Gong. Because Mr. Xie was determined to maintain his personal belief, the school expelled him and made his father take him back to Yun'nan.

After Mr. Xie returned to his hometown, he was put under surveillance set up by his home province, district, country, township and village "610 Offices," as well as the local police. He also suffered from their repeated threats and harassments. In addition, Mojiang County and Xinfu Township established a special task team to make him renounce Falun Gong. They asked the county government leaders to be responsible for making him renounce Falun Gong. The County Committee, County Government, County's Political and Legal Committee, County Committee's Propaganda Division, County's Public Security Bureau, Xinfu Township's Party Committee, and Xinfu Township Government's leaders repeatedly had "talks" with him, where they took turns pressuring him and threatening him to try to force him to renounce Falun Gong. In May 2000, the State Security Brigade in Mojiang County illegally confiscated Zhuan Falun, Falun Dafa and The Great Consummation Way of Falun Gong, his manual transcription of Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong lecture tapes, and exercise music tapes. In December 2000, Mr. Xie was abducted from home and sent to the forced brainwashing class set up by Yun'nan Province's "610 Office" in Kunming.

Because of the excessive persecution from all levels of the "610 Office" in his hometown and the local police, Mr. Xie suffered immense psychological pressure for a long period of time. After he was released from the forced brainwashing class in Kunming, the "610 Offices" and the local police claimed that Mr. Xie suffered from a psychological disorder because he practiced Falun Gong, and they put him in the hospital. Even while he was detained in the hospital, the "610 Offices" did not reduce their persecution against him. In March 2001, Yun'nan Province's "610 Office" formed a "lecture tour group." When the group traveled to the Simao District, they made a special trip to the hospital and tried to force him to renounce Falun Gong.

After Mr. Xie was released on August 9, 2001, he continued to be subjected to immense pressure from all sides, especially from his own family, who had fallen prey to Jiang Zemin and his henchmen's slanderous lies about Falun Gong. His family strongly objected and obstructed his cultivation practice in Falun Gong. Traumatized by the external and domestic persecution, Mr. Xie became mentally unstable. He was later hit by a speeding car and died on August 23, 2001.

Note:

(1) Force-feeding is the number one cause of death for Falun Gong practitioners. The purpose of police force-feeding is never to nourish, but rather to torture practitioners and to cause so much pain that they will renounce their practice of Falun Gong. To that end, the police have used many different means to cause excruciating pain and injury, including inserting and withdrawing the feeding tubes repeatedly, leaving the feeding tubes in the stomach, knocking out teeth to force-feed, force-feeding saturated salt-water, vinegar/liquor, hot pepper oil/mustard oil/boiling water, urine/feces, etc.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Sun Ying Died in May, 2004 as a Result of Persecution in the Dalian City Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) My wife, Ms. Sun Ying, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Xigang District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was tortured during her illegal imprisonment in a forced labor camp. The local police continued to harass her after she was released. Sun Ying passed away on May 12, 2004.

Sun Ying was 62 years old, and lived on Tuanjie Street in Xigang District, Dalian City. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1994 and became healthy. Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Cai Huilan, from Huadian City, Jilin Province Died in 2001 as a Result of Persecution (Photo)

Cai Huilai

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Ms. Cai Huilan, a former employee from the Hongshi Forestry Bureau in Huadian City, Jilin Province had been illegally detained twice. The police beat her in 2000 when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and in November 2001, she died as a result of persecution. Following is her story.

Ms. Cai Huilan was born in 1970. Following her divorce, she and her small daughter led a hard life. Later, she began to practice Falun Dafa. She benefited both physically and mentally and became positive and optimistic. After the persecution started in 1999, she suffered both physical and mental trauma. The police went to her home many times to harass her, illegally searching her home, humiliating, beating and cursing her. In 2000 she was twice illegally detained and the criminals attempted to forcibly brainwash her. Due to the enormous mental pressure as well as the terrible environment of the detention center where she was sent, she often felt discomfort in her abdomen after her release.

In November 2000, Cai Huilan went to Beijing to validate Dafa. The police in Beijing violently beat her and fiercely kicked her in the abdomen. She was kicked to the floor and rolled around in unbearable stomach pain. After she returned home her health deteriorated further. Later, she went to a hospital and was diagnosed as suffering from uterine cancer. She died in November 2001.

The Responsibility of Beijing's Tongzhou District "610 Office" in the Tragic Death of Ms. Liu Ying

(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Ying was a 35-year-old employee of the Beijing Titan Plastics Machinery Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Beijing and Hong Kong. She was a college graduate, with a degree in engineering. Since childhood, she had been thin, weak and sickly and suffered from tuberculosis, rapid heartbeat, and bloody noses. After she started to practice Falun Dafa at the end of 1998, her mental and physical state changed drastically. She gained weight and became very healthy, and her heart became very strong.

At the end of 2001, Liu Ying transferred from Changzhou City in Jiangsu Province, located in southern China, to the Tongzhou District in Beijing to work there. On March 4, 2002, after working for three months and three days, Jiao Xiuliang, Dai Mingxiang, Wang Xinghua, Zhang Zhichen from the Tongzhou "610 Office" and officers from the Liyuan Police Station suddenly burst into the Titan Company, abducted her from work, and took her to a brainwashing center with no evidence of wrongdoing. She was mentally persecuted for 20 days, during which her six-year-old child was left alone.

At the brainwashing center, "610 Office" personnel and collaborators (former practitioners who yielded under pressure to renounce their belief and assist in the persecution) tried everything to make her "transform." During more than 10 days of a hunger strike, she faced continuous deception, threats and various physical tortures, such as having to squat under a table with both hands on her head, being denied the privilege to go in and out, and having pieces of paper pasted all over her face. She was on the edge of collapse and could not endure anymore. In this confused state, she gave in to her tormentors and accepted their brainwashing. Practitioners are not released from the brainwashing center until they write letters exposing other practitioners and renouncing their belief. Practitioners who refuse are sent to detention centers or forced labor camps for further persecution.

The Tongzhou "610" Office personnel intensified the persecution by further deceiving Ms. Liu. In attempt to get a bigger bonus, they took advantage of her confused state. She could not figure out their true purpose and followed their orders, becoming a spy and betraying fellow practitioners.

"610 Office" personnel knew that Liu Ying was originally from Sanhe City in Hubei Province, so they colluded with the "610 Office" personnel in Sanhe City. On March 14, 2002, and February 27, 2003, Liu Ying led police to capture her own mother and many practitioners that her mother knew. As a result, her mother was subjected to brainwashing twice, and other practitioners from Sanhe were illegally arrested, subjected to brainwashing, and forced to leave their homes. Many homes were searched, and a couple of material sites were damaged. One practitioner was left near death with eight broken ribs after nine days of beating.

Liu Ying was not aware of these inhumane acts. When she found out, she was shocked and could not understand. She picked up the phone right away and questioned Yang Shibo, the head of the Daying Brainwashing Center and a "610 Office" staff member. She said, "Why are you doing this? How can you beat people to save them? If you keep doing this, I will take you to court!" But Yang Shibo sternly reprimanded her, "This is not your business! Leave it alone!"

Liu Ying was strictly monitored in many ways, most directly and frequently by phone. Every day her tormentors called her many times to monitor and track her whereabouts. In the beginning, the "610 Office" and the collaborators took turns harassing her. Later the "610 Office" took direct control. They called her while she was working and at home, often after midnight. The phone never stopped ringing, even just before her death. Gong Xiuping called and wanted to go to her house to harass her. If Liu Ying began to ignore them or if they sensed some resistance, they would immediately drive to her house to harass her. They often dragged her to participate in some regular social activities such as dancing, ball games, fishing, etc. On the surface, they appeared to be looking after her, but their intention was to control her completely and to keep her from contacting other practitioners, to destroy her righteous thoughts and to cloud her senses. Gong Xiuping, the chief of the Tongzhou District National Security Division, the head of the "610 Office", the accredited person from the Beijing police station, and Jiao Xiuliang from the "610 Office" should be held directly responsible for Liu Ying's death.

They made her life miserable in order to accomplish their goal. Because she practiced Falun Gong, they pressured her husband to divorce her, which caused her mental anguish. She had to go to work and care for their child on her own. Life was very hard. Even when her child was sick they forced her to work for them. In order to prevent her from contacting other practitioners, they often called her company to find out what she was doing. One day she went back to Sanhe City on assignment to "make inquiries." It was just for half a day, but when they did not find her, they assumed she went to do something else behind their backs. After she returned, she was interrogated until they felt satisfied of their control. She did not have any freedom.

Even after they had twice coerced her into helping to capture her mother, who was then tortured by brainwashing, they still forced Liu Ying to provide information for a third time. According to inside information from Liyuan Police Station, the incentive for capturing her mother was a 6,000 yuan bonus for everyone. Policeman Dai Mingxiang said, "In one year, we spent over 100,000 yuan just to catch this one old lady." Mr. Dai and Wang Xinhua went to Wuxi City in order to arrest her. They failed but spent nearly 8,000 over the three days. With the exposure of their persecution and their greed for promotion and money, Liu Ying started to wake up and felt something was wrong. She decided to not to assist them when they forced her to go to Sanhe again. She realized she had been deceived and was furious. She told her friend, "I will expose them! I will ask everybody to come here together and tell them they made me be a spy!"

But with the evil force in Beijing running rampant, it was not easy to get out of this difficult position. Her circumstances also were not favorable as she had just moved from the south and did not know many people. None of her family members could help her. The "610" Office in Tongzhou and the policemen there told her earlier, "If your mother or your younger sister comes here to visit you, we will arrest them right away!" Only her child was with her. There were all kinds of difficulties. The only thing she could do was take a sick day and take the phone off the hook at home so they could not call. Of course, this did not solve the problem, it just offered temporary relief.

Under the stress of not being able to get out of this terrible situation, she had thoughts of suicide. According to local people and coworkers, in the spring of 2003, about the time her mother was detained a second time and nobody knew whether she was alive or not, many people saw Liu Ying walking around for hours outside the factory, without looking or listening. She appeared to be grief-stricken.

When the "SARS" epidemic broke out, the "610 Office" in Tongzhou and the police station temporarily loosened their hold on her, and she was able to take a break and experience a period of calm. The person who talked to her verified that her status was good, and she had hopes of regaining a normal life. She thought that the "610 Office" would not ask her to do things again.

But before SARS was over, in the middle of June, the "610 Office" started to again target the Sanhe practitioners. They called her and forced her to work hard for them. In this desperate situation, the psychological pressure on her increased, and she felt she did not want to live anymore. The attack on Sanhe in the spring of 2003 shocked her, as it brought disaster to Sanhe practitioners and her mother. Liu Ying was caught and taken to the Sanhe detention center by "mistake" in this attack, but she realized she had played a shameful and pitiful role. She finally understood that their claims of "saving people" were actually hurting people. She decided to stop helping them. After that, she took days off and did not go to "work" anymore.

Under this heavy mental pressure, she was absent-minded and forgot things all the time. The hospital could only heal her illness but could not clear her mind. On June 24, 2003, the day after she was released from the hospital, she jumped off a tall building.

Before her death, she revealed what she had hidden in her heart for a long time: "I really don't want to do this anymore; they force me to." "I was deceived." "I thought that if we transformed practitioners, we would save them from persecution." With concern and regret, she tried to find out the Sanhe practitioners' situations. Finally she said, "My situation is hopeless, and I have collapsed. I cannot take it anymore and don't want to take it anymore. It is too difficult to live!" She left this world with deep regret.

The "610 Office" in Tongzhou and the policemen came when they heard the news. When they arrived on the scene, Liu Ying could hardly breathe and was in a coma. But they did not take saving her life as a priority. Instead, they went upstairs to question the 20 to 30 people surrounding Liu Ying's mother, wanting to know why Liu Ying jumped off the building. They were trying to find an excuse to blame Falun Gong.

Hearing that her mother was going to die, Liu Ying's child cried, "I don't want to live if my mom dies!" She tried to run into a wall while she spoke. Liu Ying's mother had to restrain her granddaughter many times. Even in this tragic situation, the "610 Office" personnel questioned Liu Ying's mother for over an hour while her daughter lay on the ground dying below.

Because she was left out in the sun for so long and nothing was done to help her until it was too late, Liu Ying died.

Liu Ying's mother knew that her daughter's death was due to her "transformation" by the "610 Office." Liu Ying could not endure the authorities' control over her life and their cruel mental persecution. Constrained by many restrictions, she was unable to free herself from this torture.

Liu Ying's death shocked the perpetrators in Tongzhou. In order to hide the fact that they drove Liu Ying to suicide by psychological persecution, they immediately notified the company that Liu Ying worked for, in order to block the news, and prohibited everyone from spreading the news.

Police in Nong'an County, Jilin Province Set Up Secret Persecution Site to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

(Clearwisdom.net) Nong'an County, Jilin Province is one of the areas in China where Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted most severely. On July 20th 1999, the secretary of the county, Zhang Shuming, began to follow the commands of Jiang's regime and led his subordinates to persecute Falun Dafa and Falun Gong practitioners. In 2000, he sponsored a special meeting in which all of the directors of police stations, 610 Offices, and other government agencies participated. In the meeting, he urged others to use more force to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. If Falun Gong practitioners were killed in the persecution, their deaths would be regarded as suicides. He was determined that he would get rid of all the Falun Gong practitioners in his county and said that there was no place where Falun Gong practitioners could go to prosecute them.

Under his coercion, the policemen in Nong'an County Police Station began to beat Falun Gong practitioners without restraint. They set up a secret persecution site in the northern parking complex of the railway station. Usually, they tortured Falun Gong practitioners at night. They blindfolded the practitioners and took them to the site, which was about an hour away from the station. The policemen said brazenly, "This is where Falun Gong practitioners are tortured most severely. We have many instruments of torture and will torture you to death. If you are killed, no one will know. There's no place you can go to prosecute us." They snarled, "We work for Jiang and we'll do anything we're told. We can decide whether to send you to a forced labor camp or prison." The cruel methods they used to persecute practitioners included intimidation, terror, deceit, extortion, beating and verbal abuse, sitting on the "Tiger Bench", slapping the practitioners' faces, handcuffing their hands and feet, whipping the practitioner's hand with a bamboo board, piercing the practitioners' fingers with nails, knocking practitioners down with a thick club, tying all four limbs together, burning the skin with cigarettes, covering the head with plastic bags, etc. The policemen laughed menacingly as they tortured Falun Gong practitioners.

The following are some facts about the persecution in Nong'an County:

1. From incomplete records, at least six Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death: Meng Qingxia, Liu Chengjun, Zhang Mingyuan, Cao Yali, Wang Shuxian, and Li Hua.

2. Twelve Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced to imprisonment: Zhang Dianrong, Gao Feng, Zhao Xiuxiang, Jiang Quande, Fu Guijie, Fu Dexiu, Wang Fengyun, Wang Qibo, Han Libin, Han Lihui, Zheng Guomin and a college student [name unknown].

3. There have been more than 200 cases of Falun Gong practitioners being sent to forced labor camps and more than 1000 cases of practitioners detained and monitored for a long period of time.

4. They fined Falun Gong practitioners in Nong'an County more than one million Yuan. Policemen took a lot of the practitioners' personal belongings by force, including money, bankbooks, gold and jewelry.

Persecution of Falun Gong practitioners:

Mr. Zhang Dianrong was a platelayer. In January 2004, he was abducted by the policemen at his company. Severe torture rendered him unable to go to the bathroom without assistance. When he was being treated in the Jinlin Prison Management Hospital, on September 6th 2004, he was carried to the Changchun courtroom and sentenced to nine years in prison.

Mr. Gao Feng was missing for more than a year. After that, it was reported that he was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. Currently, he is at the Changchun Tiebei First Detention Center. He was severely injured and weakened from torture, but his family members were still not allowed to see him.

Ms. Zhao Xiuxiang was abducted from her home in June 2002. Xu Shaobing and Liu Ye of the Political Security Office of Nong'an Police Station, beat her until she lost consciousness and then splashed cold water on her body to wake her up. These two policemen shouted savagely, "Let's cut her abdomen open!" Zhao Xiuxiang was tortured to the point that she was vomiting blood and at times her blood pressure was over 250mmHg. She was in Changchun Heizuizi Prison Hospital for a long time, and was also sentenced to nine years of imprisonment.

Ms. Fu Guijie and Fu Guixiu were arrested while they were asleep at a truth-clarification materials site. Fu Guijie's arm was injured by the torture and she is still detained at the Changchun Women's Prison. They were sentenced to seven and eight years of imprisonment, respectively.

Mr. Jiang Quande, was abducted in November 2002. The police tortured him and broke his arm as they beat him. He is still detained at the Siping Prison.

Mr. Wang Qibo was sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2000. In 2001, he was sentenced again to seven years of imprisonment. His wife was also arrested. When she was working in the field, she was arrested and sent to Heizuizi Prison for one year of forced labor. Their two children who were still in school were left without care. A good family was broken up by severe persecution.

Mr. Zheng Guoming and his wife (both are practitioners) were abducted together. Zheng Guoming was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. His wife was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. Their five-year-old daughter and 80-year-old grandfather who lived in their home were left without care.

Mr. Guo Zhihe was knocked down by a car driven by several people from the Political Security Office of Nong'an Police Station including Du Hengzhi. Then they blindfolded him and tied his neck tightly. Guo Zhihe was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. People saw that he was beaten savagely--his entire face was distorted and covered with wounds.

Torture Methods Used at the Shanhaiguan City Government's Liaison Office in Beijing and the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center (Re-enactment Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Torture Re-enactment: Shanhaiguan City Liaison Office in Beijing Handcuffs Practitioners in Painful Positions

Hebei Province Shanhaiguan City Liaison Office personnel in Beijing handcuffed all practitioners behind their backs in the painful "carrying the sword" position for refusing to tell their names or addresses. Even children were not spared. More than 20 practitioners were locked in a room of about 130 square feet. Both male and female practitioners were locked together, and only a bucket was given to them as a toilet facility in the room. It was snowing outside and it was dark and cold with no heat inside the room.

Torture at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center: Squatting on a Basin

In mid-November 2002, in order to achieve the so-called "reform" quota, Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center guards attempted to brainwash the practitioners with brutal torture methods. Li Quanming, guard of the third team, issued an order to drag steadfast practitioners into a basement room, chop off their hair into a messy and ugly style, and only allow them to wear their underwear. Then the criminals put ice cubes down the practitioners' underwear in the back. Practitioners were forced to squat over a basin full of water. If practitioners failed to keep the squatting posture and lost their balance, they would fall into the water basin. Some practitioners were forced to hold a stool on their head. If the stool fell off their head, the practitioners would be beaten.

250 People Declare that their Words and Deeds Under Forced Brainwashing are Null and Void

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Here are some examples of the Solemn Declarations:

A Brief History of Events Leading Up to Jiang Zemin's Irrational Persecution of Falun Gong in China

(Clearwisdom.net) In May 1992, Mr. Li Hongzhi held the first Falun Gong class in China. In September 1992, Falun Gong was officially accepted as a direct branch of the China Qigong Research Association and received a nationwide permit to teach Falun Dafa in China. Later, the China TV Broadcasting Agency Publishing Company and some other official publishing companies published Mr. Li's works, Falun Gong and Zhuan Falun.

Because of its tremendous power to improve health, Falun Gong stood out from the thousands of other qigongs of that time and spread quickly. Before July 1999, by early dawn, almost every Chinese park would be brimming with people practicing Falun Gong. The number of Falun Gong practitioners reached 100 million within seven years. The practitioners live in different geographic regions and are of all ages, social strata and walks of life. Even the seven members of the Politburo Standing Committee had read Zhuan Falun. Some of their family members practiced Falun Gong and so did many highly ranking Party officials. Many government agencies and mainstream media acknowledged and supported Falun Gong.

In December 1992, Mr. Li Hongzhi and some of his students attended the 1993 Oriental Health Expo in Beijing. Mr. Li Rusong, Chief Executive Officer of the Expo, and Professor Jiang Xuegui, Chief Consultant of the Expo, commented objectively on Mr. Li's cultivation power and the miraculous healing effects of Falun Gong. Mr. Li Rusong mentioned, "Falun Gong received the most praise during the Exposition and its healing effects are good." Professor Jiang Xuegui commented, "It can be said that Mr. Li Hongzhi was a shining star at the Exposition. I witnessed many of Master Li's miracles at the Exposition. I have seen patients who were dependant on walking-sticks and wheelchairs, those who were bothered by various conditions that prevented them from walking normally, miraculously stand up and walk after having been adjusted or treated by Master Li. It's just as it has been stated: Falun Gong is a miraculous cultivation system. As the Chief Consultant of the Expo and with corresponding responsibility, I recommend Falun Gong to you all. I believe that this cultivation system will genuinely bring people physical health and a fresh spirit and mind."

On August 25, 1993, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry Propaganda cosponsored the Third Conference of the National Foundation for Heroes in Beijing. The Qigong Research Society and the Foundation invited Mr. Li Hongzhi to give free treatments to those who were injured or disabled in the line of duty. On August 31, the Valor Foundation wrote a letter to the China Qigong Research Association and to Mr. Li Hongzhi to express their gratitude, in which it stated, "On August 24, upon our invitation, Mr. Li Hongzhi made a special trip to the Public Security Ministry and offered treatment to Chairman Wang Fang. On August 30, Mr. Li, Hongzhi, leading a group of students, offered treatment to up to 100 representatives at the Conference venue. Because of the remarkable effectiveness, the treatment received wide acclaim. Prior to the treatment, some people were suffering from ailments left over from knife and gunshot injuries. After the treatment, they were relieved of symptoms such as pain, numbness and chronic weakness. Those suffering from brain illnesses recovered and became sober minded after the treatment. They were relieved of symptoms such as headache and dizziness. Some people were relieved of tumors right on the spot. Some excreted gallstones in 24 hours after receiving the treatment. Some people suffered from stomach diseases, heart diseases or arthritis. After the treatment, all of them were relieved of symptoms right on the site. Among almost 100 people who received the treatment, only one person claimed no obvious effects. All others felt obvious improvements to various degrees. The representatives treated by Falun Gong were very grateful for this event arranged by the Valor Foundation and credited it as a tangible help offered during the Conference with the following statement: "Whereas the leaders of CQSRS and Mr. Li, Hongzhi directly offered that help, and the activity would help promote the general public's sense of voluntarily combating criminal activities, we hereby express our sincere thanks to you, other CQSRS leaders and Mr. Li, Hongzhi!" The People's Public Security News, published by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, carried a report on September 21, 1993 about this event.

The Chinese government has always been known for its efforts to strictly control the minds of the population. After the Communist Party took power, waves of political movements threw the country into constant turmoil. Today, elderly Chinese people can still vividly recall the series of framing, fabrications and persecution cases during the "Anti-rightist" movement and the Cultural Revolution. After the economic reform and "opening-up" policies took effect, China's economy developed quickly and the financial environment loosened up, but the same cannot be said about the government's iron-fisted control on diversity of thought. The Party did not lighten its suppression of nonconforming opinions and civil groups. Those in power have deeply rooted in their minds the notion of regarding those with differing ideas as their enemy; it's a form of "political hypersensitivity" formed during various upheavals during the Party's rule. The rulers' mindset provides an excellent opportunity for those who hope to seize power through starting a movement, or people who are always on the lookout for the path to promotion. Such was the unique social environment confronting Falun Gong in Mainland China, which had great impact on its development.

Falun Gong brought tremendous benefits to its practitioners as it helped them improve their moral level as well as their physical health. However, because Falun Gong principles are different from the atheism advocated by the Party and the number of Falun Gong practitioners quickly exceeded the number of Party members, gradually some official media developed misunderstandings about Falun Gong. In addition, some Party leaders and political opportunists' hypersensitivity took charge, and they thought they had to defend their power by going on the offensive and stirring up trouble. The conspiracy to persecute Falun Gong gradually took form in secret while the public and the Falun Gong practitioners were completely unaware of it. Luo Gan, who played an important role in the June 4 Massacre of students on Tiananmen Square, and his brother-in-law He Zuoxiu, a sham scientist and political hack, actively took part in the conspiracy.

On June 17, 1996, Guangming Daily, a government-run newspaper, published an editorial article entitled, "A Loud and Long Alarm Must Be Sounded Against Pseudo-Science," which claimed that Falun Gong promoted superstition, and was "Pseudo-Science." It called Falun Gong practitioners fools for their belief. One month later, the Chinese News Publishing Bureau, under the Propaganda Ministry at the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, issued an order to all cities and provinces, prohibiting the publishing of Zhuan Falun and China Falun Gong, and other Falun Gong books with the excuse that the books were "promoting superstition." Soon, a dozen major official newspapers such as Qilu Evening News and China Youth Daily published articles attacking Falun Gong.

In 1997, Luo Gan, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee of the CCP Central Committee ordered the police to secretly investigate Falun Gong throughout China and look for evidence to ban Falun Gong. Although they could not find anything wrong with Falun Gong, the police in certain regions started to monitor and fine Falun Gong practitioners and interfere with their daily lives.

When confronted with attack and slander, Falun Gong practitioners went to the media and government officials time and time again to peacefully clarify the facts about Falun Gong. Their sincerity and openness moved many people who had misunderstandings; they won support from open-minded Party officials. Some media published corrective reports after they learned the truth. In order to prevent the Ministry of Public Security from continuing its secret attack against Falun Gong, on May 15, 1998, Mr. Wu Shaozu, director of China's National Sports Commission (NSC) went to Changchun City, where Falun Gong had originated, to do research about Falun Gong. After a thorough study, the NSC determined the overall efficiency of healing and keeping fit by practicing Falun Gong to be 97.9%. On October 20, the NSC sent a team of medical experts to Changchun to conduct more research. After the study, the head of the research team said, "We feel that both the Falun Gong exercises and their effectiveness are quite good. The impact on the stability of society and the strengthening of the spiritual culture are all quite evident. This deserves to be fully recognized."

In 1998, 135 well-known figures in society, also Falun Gong practitioners, jointly submitted a letter to the then-president Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu Rongji. The letter stated that the Ministry of Public Security violated the Chinese Constitution and the law by interfering with Falun Gong practitioners' normal activities and practice. It also said that the Ministry of Public Security should spend more time controlling criminals instead of creating trouble for Falun Gong practitioners. Premier Zhu Rongji wrote a note to the Ministry of Public Security, in which he said that Falun Gong had saved the government tremendous medical expenses, and that the police should focus on maintaining the people's security instead of harassing Falun Gong.

The political group of villains headed by Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and He Zuoxiu ignored the openness and honesty of Falun Gong practitioners. They regarded the practitioners' peaceful appeal to the media and the government as a threat and challenge to their power, and they were intent on destroying Falun Gong. According to a Party member who wishes to remain anonymous, in the latter half of 1998, a group of retired National People's Congress officials led by Qiao Shi [the former Chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress] conducted a detailed investigation and study over a certain period of time on Falun Gong, because so many members of the public had sent letters mentioning the Public Security Bureau's illegal treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. The conclusion of the study was that "Falun Gong only benefits and does no harm to the nation and the people." They ended their report by saying "Winning the hearts of the people you gain the world. Losing the hearts of the people, you lose everything." The report was submitted in October to the Political Bureau (the directing body of the Communist Party ), which Jiang Zemin headed. Insiders at Zhongnanhai (the government compound in Beijing) reported that Jiang was very displeased with this report, and wrote a note to Luo Gan expressing his displeasure, a note that incited Luo's desire to advance himself by opposing Falun Gong. Luo Gan fully comprehended Jiang's intentions. Soon, even premier Zhu Rongji's notes and comments on Falun Gong to be passed down to local government agencies were withheld by Luo Gan. By early 1999, overwhelming pressure was mounted against Falun Gong, and the interference that had lasted three years escalated.

On April 11, 1999, He Zuoxiu published an article to attack and slander Falun Gong in a nationwide journal issued by the Tianjin Educational Institute. In the article he claimed practicing Falun Gong would make one go insane.

The article had a very bad influence in society and it was not based on facts. Worried that if they didn't clarify the truth, Falun Gong's reputation would be damaged and their right to practice would be taken away, during the period from April 18 to 24, some practitioners from Tianjin went to the Tianjin Educational Institute and related organizations to explain the true situation of Falun Gong. At first, the officials of the Institute met with the practitioners and said they would correct the article. The next day, they changed their mind and refused to correct it.

More and more practitioners went to the institute hoping to clarify the facts with their firsthand experience. On April 23 and 24, the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Public Security dispatched about 300 riot police to beat the practitioners participating in the peaceful and lawful appeal. The authorities arrested 45 practitioners and the police injured some practitioners. The Tianjin City government officials told the practitioners that the arrests made were not within their control and if the practitioners wanted to appeal, they must go to the central government in Beijing.

The news spread quickly. People sensed pressure from the central government from the unusual violence of the Tianjin City government and police. The practitioners firmly believed there was nothing wrong with being good people according to Truth-Compassion-Tolerance, and also their own experience had proved Falun Gong to be good. With their trust in government and the hope of dispelling prejudice, about 10,000 practitioners went to State Council's Appeals Bureau near Zhongnanhai on April 25.

On the same day, Premier Zhu Rongji met with representative practitioners.

According to what practitioner Shi Caidong, a Ph. D. student at the Chinese Academy of Sciences recalled, "It was around 7 a.m. when I arrived at the north end of Fuyou Street on April 25. Practitioners had already filled up the two sides of Fuyou Street and nearby streets. Some stood there and some sat down, but they did not talk to passers-by. Some were holding books and reading. Even though there were a lot of people, they did not create a traffic jam, nor did they make any noise. Bikers on their way to work were pedaling by as usual. I crossed Xianmen Boulevard and entered the south side of the district. It was my first time there and I didn't even know where the gate was. I thought I would first circle around to see if I'd run into any practitioners I knew. So I walked south along the west side of Fuyou Street. Practitioners lined up neatly on both sides of the streets. Practitioners on the outside were standing and practitioners on the inside sat down. They were all reading the book Zhuan Falun. Judging from their clothing, I could tell that some were from the countryside and they looked sincere and kind. I didn't meet any acquaintances along my way, although I did see many young men reporting on the situation through walkie-talkies. They were probably plainclothes policemen.

"As I walked further down the street, I heard a low but enthusiastic applause. I turned to take a look and saw Mr. Zhu Rongji a few dozen meters away walking from the gate across the street. (I had just passed the west gate of Zhongnanhai). Several of his staff members were following him. They walked towards practitioners who were across the gate. Practitioners who were sitting down stood up and applauded. Everyone was very happy and surprised to see Zhu Rongji come out to meet practitioners as soon as he arrived at his office. Everyone wanted to approach him to explain the situation. I walked back quickly and also tried to approach him from inside the crowd. At that moment, a practitioner reminded everyone to stay put and maintain good order.

"Zhu Rongji probably had already learned about Falun Gong practitioners' coming to appeal. He asked us loudly, 'What are you here for? Who told you to come here?'

'You have freedom of religion and beliefs!' He added.

'We are Falun Gong practitioners and we are here to explain the situation,' Some practitioners in the crowd replied.

'If you have any problem, you can send some representatives up here and I'll take you inside for a discussion.' Zhu Rongji paused, then said, 'I can't possibly talk to so many of you!'

"Zhu Rongji encouraged us to designate representatives to talk to him. However, we had all come spontaneously and most of us did not even know each other and had never thought about designating representatives. Since our practice is entirely voluntary, we just come to practice whenever we feel like it and if we don't have the time we just go about our own business. Nobody signs up for anything and nobody ever checks headcounts, let alone elect representatives.

'Do you have any representatives? Who among you are the spokespersons?' He again asked.

"At that moment I walked up towards him and ended up about two meters from him. 'Premier Zhu, I can go with you.' I was the first one from the crowd who volunteered to walk to his side.

'Who else?' Zhu Rongji asked.

'Me!'

'Me!'

'Me too!'

All of a sudden, everyone raised their hands.

Every practitioner wanted to go in to convey his or her message.

'We cannot have too many people.' Zhu Rongji pointed at the first three persons. In fact, we were not elected or designated representatives, but spontaneous volunteers.

"Zhu Rongji turned and led us toward the west gate of Zhongnanhai. As he walked he raised his voice and asked us, 'Didn't I already comment on the situation you guys reported?'

'We did not see it!' We replied in surprise.

"He probably realized something and changed the subject, 'I'll get the director of the Appeals Bureau to talk to you. I'll get the Deputy Secretary to talk to you.' He turned to his staff members and asked them to find the people he mentioned. At that time we arrived at the Security Guards Post on the west gate of Zhongnanhai. The staff members signaled us to stop and took us to the left into a reception room while Zhu Rongji went into Zhongnanhai to work."

"Falun Gong practitioners made three requests: 1) Release the Falun Gong practitioners who were arrested in Tianjin; 2) Give Falun Gong practitioners a legitimate and relaxed practice environment; 3) Allow Falun Gong books to be published.

"Later in the day, Premier Zhu Rongji ordered the Tianjin Police Department to release the practitioners and repeated the government's policy of not interfering with people's freedom to practice.

"At 10 p.m., the practitioners left quietly. They were so peaceful and orderly that they didn't even leave a piece of paper behind."

The April 25 incident was the first time the Chinese government solved a crisis through peaceful dialogue with ordinary citizens. International media highly praised the incident and thought it was a milestone marking the Chinese government's progress toward democracy. Many people held new hopes for the Chinese government. Unfortunately, what ensued was a drastic and unexpected turn. The Party leader Jiang Zemin's reaction toward the appeal was completely opposite from that of Premier Zhu Rongji. As revealed by an insider, "on the day of the "Zhongnanhai incident" on April 25th, those in charge of the top-level offices of appeal, along with Luo Gan and others, reported on the legal course of appeal taken by Falun Gong practitioners. Upon hearing this, Jiang Zemin waved both hands and shouted, "Crush Falun Gong! Crush it! Crush it completely!" This forceful outburst shocked everyone who witnessed it, including Luo Gan.

"On April 25th, as a Prime Minister should do, Zhu Rongji had offered an open-minded and peaceful resolution to the appeal of Falun Gong practitioners. Upon realizing that the world would praise Zhu Rongji for solving the Falun Gong issue, President Jiang became mad with envy. At the first meeting of the Standing Committee on the 'Zhongnanhai Incident,' Zhu spoke out, suggesting, 'Just let them practice.' Jiang pointed his finger at Zhu, and said, 'You're wrong! You're being a fool! Falun Gong will destroy the Party and the nation!' Premier Zhu Rongji went silent and from then on he no longer commented on Falun Gong. When the meeting ended, he shook hands and said goodbye to all the staff members present. Other politburo standing committee members were also silent.

"Failing to gain full support from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, Jiang Zemin undertook a method likened to that of Mao Zedong's (former Chairman of China during the Cultural Revolution) writing big posters, by writing to all the politburo members, and repeatedly issuing 'instructions' in his own name, defining the Falun Gong issue as 'very serious,' 'competing with the [Communist] Party for the masses,' and 'threatening the nation and the Party.'"

Jiang exerted pressure on the politburo, the Secretariat and the Central Military Commission to cooperate with him on the persecution. He also ordered his speech on Falun Gong to be circulated within the Party. Under Jiang's direct order, on June 10, 1999, the Central Party Committee officially set up an office for the "leadership group" and named it "the Head Office for Handling the Falun Gong Issue," also called the "610 Office." Later they changed the name to "Anti-evil Cult Organization Office."

By this time, the preparations for a persecution individually started by Jiang with the goal of completely wiping out Falun Gong was in full force. To thoroughly persecute Falun Gong was a political task assigned to all levels of government.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang launched the full-blown persecution with mass arrests, beatings, and unlawful detentions of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners. The police burned Falun Gong books and ransacked the practitioners' homes, and the media saturated the country with propaganda to defame Falun Gong.

If we look at the complete process from Falun Gong's introduction to the public to its being banned, we can see that there have always been different voices within the Chinese government. Many open-minded Party officials including Premier Zhu Rongji acknowledged and supported Falun Gong, while those who antagonized and suppressed Falun Gong were only a small minority, namely the dictator Jiang and the political opportunists represented by, Luo Gan and He Zuoxiu.

In early September 2000, Jiang had a special interview with Mike Wallace of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS). In order to shirk responsibility, Jiang claimed that all the members of the Politburo Standing Committee raised their hands to support the persecution of Falun Gong. The truth is that the persecution was solely Jiang's idea. He bypassed the law and willfully overthrew premier Zhu Rongji's decision on April 25 appeal. He was the behind-the-scenes director of the whole persecution.

Why did Jiang Zemin persecute Falun Gong? What was his motive?

All dictators suffer from insecurity about loss of power. As a result, they exhaust all means to solidify their grasp on power and to strengthen their rule. Anyone who has the courage to persist in their opinions and uphold their rights would be regarded as a threat to the dictator's rule, and he would do everything to ruthlessly silence those brave voices. If the dictator is not merely cold-blooded, but also incapable and unintelligent, and he obtained power through underhanded means, then the public would only regard him with disdain. Unfortunately Jiang Zemin has all of the above traits.

The Chinese people all know that Jiang became president, not because of his abilities or longevity in the Party, but because he was one of the first to side with the central government's hard line approach during the June 4 Massacre. Many people inside and outside the Party have criticized Jiang's lack of credibility as the president of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission. Therefore, it is clear that Jiang possesses the dark mentality of most dictators as he suspected, resented and eventually fanatically persecuted Falun Gong.

To be more specific, Jiang absolutely could not accept the fact that Falun Gong taught different things from what he wanted to instill in the people.

Secondly, Falun Gong attracted 100 million people within a few years and the number of practitioners exceeded the number of Party members, a fact that deeply disturbed Jiang and made him very envious. He could not tolerate the fact that the size of a civil group was larger than the Party under his control.

Thirdly, although Mr. Li Hongzhi was only an ordinary citizen and did not have any title or official rank, he had millions of disciples who respectfully called him Teacher Li or Master. Many of his disciples were senior Party members and government officials. As the head of the country, Jiang had always craved such heart-felt respect for himself, but could not get it. His jealousy rose to a boiling point because he could not allow an ordinary citizen to have greater prestige than himself.

He was also jealous of Premier Zhu Rongji for properly handling the April 25 appeal and winning acknowledgement from the international community.

Last but not least, he was shocked that Falun Gong practitioners came time and again to the government to appeal without hesitation or fear of retaliation, as many ordinary citizens do. He judged the practitioners' courage to be a challenge to his power.

His mentality can be summarized with one word: jealousy. Jealousy towards Falun Gong and Mr. Li Hongzhi is the root cause that drove Jiang to single-mindedly persecute Falun Gong.

There are also other analyses on the reason for the persecution.

Someone said that the moral decline after June 4, 1989 led to rampant corruption and great social unrest for which Jiang is largely responsible. Falun Gong's principles, Truth, Compassion and Tolerance directly contradict Jiang's own perversity and malice, and as a result he could not help but persecute Falun Gong.

Some have said that expanding one's power by starting a political movement is an often-used ruse by Chinese dictators. Obviously Jiang is no stranger to such tactic. In the article "China's suppression carries a high price" by Willy Wo-Lap Lam, a CNN senior China analyst points out, "It is no secret that several Politburo members thought the president had used the wrong tactics." The reporter also quoted a Party veteran as saying, "By unleashing a Mao-style movement, Jiang is forcing senior cadres to pledge allegiance to his line... This will boost Jiang's authority."

But why did Luo Gan and He Zuoxiu play the roles of point men in this persecution? The dictator and his minions rely on one another. What the minions usually do is make some noises to please their master. Falun Gong has many practitioners and has a great influence in China. If they could destroy Falun Gong, they could hope for a grand promotion.

Nowadays in China, corruption is everywhere. Falun Gong teaches people to conduct themselves according to Truth, Compassion and Tolerance; it benefits the society and causes no harm. By turning on Falun Gong instead of punishing the corrupt officials, Jiang shows himself to be irrational, if not clinically insane.

Pinochet Faces Trial--Why Wait to Bring Jiang and His Accomplices to Justice?

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 5, 2004, for the first time, Chile's military acknowledged responsibility for human rights crimes during Pinochet's rule from 1973 to 1990.

According to official documents, during Pinochet's 17-year military dictatorship, 3190 people were killed for political reasons, and tens of thousands of people were jailed or exiled. Before the document was published, however, the military and its leader Pinochet rejected responsibility for human rights crimes, claming each crime to be a personal act.

Juan Emilio Cheyre, Chile's incumbent commander-in-chief, published the document in preparation for a report on the Pinochet military government's record of illegal arrest and torture, which includes testimony from more than 30,000 victims.

Let us change our focus to China and a genocidal campaign against Falun Gong practitioners launched by Jiang Zemin's regime. According to this regime's confidential orders, "Beating them to death is counted as a suicide, there is no need for their families to identify the bodies, and cremate them directly," a state of affairs even more startling then that enacted by Pinochet has existed in China for over five years. This ongoing persecution has resulted in over 1,100 confirmed deaths. According to internal statistics generated by Chinese officials, the death toll at the end of 2001 had actually reached 1600. As many as 100 different types of torture have been documented.

According to recent news from internal sources in China, because of the nonstop exposure of his shameless lies and horrific atrocities and the continuing worldwide effort to bring Jiang Zemin to trial, the prime culprit, Jiang, planned to sacrifice a group of policemen as "scapegoats," claiming, as did Pinochet, that they were "personal acts." Are these "different tunes rendered with equal skill"?

After World War II, the Nazi war criminals responsible for atrocities were not able to escape justice and punishment. After the "Cultural Revolution" in China, none of the "celebrities" escaped punishment. Just as Cheyre, Chile's incumbent commander-in-chief, put it, "Can the political situation be an excuse for human rights crimes? My only answer is 'no.'"

For those who follow dictators and commit crimes, they are destined for miserable endings. Those thugs and criminal accomplices in China who have betrayed their consciences and cruelly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners because they were "carrying out orders from higher authorities" to obtain petty gains, have really "sold their souls to the devil." The phrase "personal acts" is already on the tip of Jiang's tongue. How can the thugs who served Jiang Zemin respond?

From the start, all of Jiang's orders for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners were relayed by word of mouth. Even if there were written documents, they were classified as "confidential" or repossessed after they were transmitted. Later on, the "610 Offices" were required to destroy relevant documents to eradicate any criminal evidence. Obviously, Jiang is aware that his acts are not fit to be seen or revealed and are completely against the Chinese constitution and laws. How can the bloody and brutal facts of the past five years be hidden? Who can cover up tens of thousands of victims? Who can so boldly deny the shameless lies broadcast to the whole world? The whole world will focus on China.

For years, Falun Gong practitioners have persisted in exposing the persecution and collecting and organizing evidence of the crimes of Jiang's regime. Fawanghuihui, an organization that has been paying close attention to Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong, submitted two copies of their report to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on March 20, 2003. The reports include a list of 11,000 names of personnel involved in the persecution, from "610 Offices" to police stations and other offices. It also includes details of their crimes and a list of names of about 20,000 victims and facts about the persecution. Moreover, international organizations like the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" and the "Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice" were set up one after the other. They have been actively operating and have spurred one round after another of legal actions against Jiang and his regime. Although Jiang's red terror swept across the entire nation, people with high ideals in every endeavor in China have helped to collect criminal evidence against his regime for legal purposes.

The compassionate will be rewarded with good, while the evil will face karmic retribution. Whoever cruelly killed people using his power will be brought to justice.

TORONTO - A group of six Falun Gong practitioners, including a Canadian citizen, filed a lawsuit in Ontario Superior Court Monday charging former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and four senior officials with torture. The plaintiffs are seeking $20 million in damages.

Three of the plaintiffs, a structural engineer, an art professor and an accountant, were released from prison after Amnesty International took up their cause and publicized their cases. Professor Kunlun Zhang, a Canadian citizen, had returned to China to care for an ill relative and was arrested for practicing Falun Gong meditation exercises in a public park, according to information released to the media.

Zhang was tortured with electric shocks and denied sleep while he underwent forced brainwashing, he said.

Falun Gong is a meditation system that was practiced publicly in China from its introduction in1992 until then-president Jiang issued a ban in 1999 that practitioners say was the start of a brutal campaign of suppression.

The New York-based Falun Dafa Information Center, which tracks the situation in China, has documented more than 1100 deaths of Falun Gong practitioners there, including 68 in the months of September and October. It says the actual number of deaths could be much higher.

Toronto attorney Kate Kempton, who specializes in human rights, aboriginal and environmental law, is representing the Falun Gong practitioners.

"This claim has almost unprecedented reach, and cuts to the core of fundamental human rights and stability of society - values of key importance to Canadians," Kempton told reporters.

Along with Jiang, senior Chinese officials Li Lanqing, Luo Gan, Liu Jing and Wang Maolin are named in the lawsuit. The plaintiffs say the four are leaders of the "6-10" office, an extra-governmental office that was established by Jiang to administer his ban on Falun Gong.

24 HOURS (Canada): Toronto man, others sue China's ex-president

An historic $20-million lawsuit filed in the Ontario Superior Court in Toronto will attempt to bring powerful Chinese officials to justice over the "systemic genocidal brutalization" of Falun Gong practitioners.

Published on November 16, 2004

24 HOURS (A large daily newspaper circulated across the Greater Toronto Area)

Launched yesterday, this unprecedented lawsuit - the first in Canada - brought against former president Jiang Zemin and four other top Chinese leaders allege they are "primarily and directly responsible for the harm done to the plaintiffs."

Two of the six plaintiffs spoke yesterday along with their lawyer about the mental and physical torture that has scarred them for life.

Lizhi He of Toronto said he "was nearly tortured to death."

"I still fear somebody calling me by my name," said He, who suffers trauma from when prison guards would call for him before electric shocks and beatings. "No one can imagine such a feeling that his own name becomes a humiliation to him."

He said he is still tormented by nightmares of the time he endured 1,290 days in detention. During this time he contracted tuberculosis, and a lack of medical attention has left him with breathing complications.

"The mental harm has been so severe to affect my new life in Canada," said the softspoken He, 40.

Kunlun Zhang, 60, of Ottawa, was a Canadian citizen when he was detained and tortured after returning to China to care for a sick relative.

The lawsuit alleges "the defendants used, or more accurately abused, their positions as top officials of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government, to force the initiation and implementation of this campaign of terror..." and that they used threats, intimidation and rewards to force or compel thousands of governmental members to participate in the campaign.

The plaintiffs' lawyer, Kate Kempton, said justice in Chinese courts is impossible.

"This is their only recourse," she said, adding there are 15 similar cases worldwide going through the courts.

[...] A reported 1,100 practitioners have been killed and thousands have been tortured and detained as a result. There are thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in Canada.

Canada Newswire: Chinese Vice-Consul General Leaves Canada After Failing to Pay Court Judgment

Canada Requested to Declare Pan Xinchun Persona Non Grata

TORONTO, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - An official at Foreign Affairs Canada has confirmed that Pan Xinchun, the former Vice-Consul General of the People's Republic of China at Toronto, who was found liable in a Canadian court for defaming Joel Chipkar, a Toronto spokesperson for Falun Gong practitioners, is no longer in Canada after failing to satisfy the judgment against him.

On February 3, 2004, Justice Harvey T. Spiegel of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice found Mr. Pan liable for calling Joel Chipkar a member of a "sinister cult" in a local newspaper. Justice Spiegel accepted that Mr. Pan could not claim consular immunity. Mr. Chipkar alleged that the libel formed part of a campaign of hatred and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by officials of the People's Republic of China in Canada. Pan was ordered to pay damages of $1,000 (a symbolic amount requested by the plaintiff) and $10,000 in legal costs.

On July 14, 2004, after payment was not received, the Superior Court issued a Notice of Garnishment against Mr. Pan. Mr. Pan's bank, the Chinese government-owned Bank of China, stated that it could not satisfy the Notice of Garnishment due to the status of Mr. Pan's account.

On Tuesday, November 16, Mr. Pan failed to attend an examination under oath after notice of the examination was served at his Toronto residence and upon legal counsel for the People's Republic of China. The examination was to be conducted to identify assets with which the judgment could be satisfied.

"It is my opinion that after continuously disregarding the Ontario court, Mr. Pan left the country rather than comply with his obligations under Canadian law," said Mr. Chipkar. "He should not be allowed to come back into Canada."

Chipkar said it is obvious that the People's Republic of China knowingly participated in Pan's departure and that Canada must ensure that China's regime is held accountable for its conduct and that of its agents. "These officials should not be free to come here and violate the safety and rights of Canadians and then run away and ignore our Canadian court rulings," he said.

Chipkar has requested Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs to declare the former Vice-Consul General of the People's Republic of China at Toronto persona non grata according to article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.

Mr. Chipkar has been represented throughout the action by Peter A. Downard of Fasken Martineau, a national Canadian law firm.

Backgrounder: Chronology of Events

The libel action was commenced after Mr. Pan called Mr. Chipkar a member of a "sinister cult" in a letter published in the Toronto Star. Pan was ordered to pay damages of $1,000 (the only amount in damages requested by the plaintiff) and $10,000 in legal fees. Mr.Chipkar alleged that the libel formed part of a campaign of hatred and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by officials of the People's Republic of China in Canada.

On July 14, 2004, after payment was not received, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued a Notice of Garnishment against Mr. Pan. Mr. Chipkar's law firm, Fasken Martineau, sent the notice to Mr. Pan's bank, the Chinese government-owned Bank of China, to garnishee his accounts. The Bank of China stated that it could not satisfy the Notice of Garnishment due to the status of Mr. Pan's account.

Subsequently, Mr. Chipkar made repeated attempts to serve Mr. Pan with notice of an examination of Mr. Pan under oath for the purpose of identifying assets with which the judgment could be satisfied. Those attempts were unsuccessful.

On October 12, 2004, Master Ronna Brott of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered that Mr. Pan would be validly served with a formal notice of the examination by mailing of the notice to his residence and to legal counsel for the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Chipkar received no response to the mailing of the notice from either Mr. Pan or legal counsel to the People's Republic of China.

On November 16, 2004, Mr. Pan failed to appear at his examination under oath, as required by the Ontario court's notice.

Leicester Mercury (United Kingdom): Refugee in plea to free his father

November 15, 2004
Section: News; People; Issues; Pg. 17

A man who fled China to escape torture and imprisonment is appealing for help to free his father.

Li Heping spent nearly two years in a forced labour camp, where he was locked in a dark cell until he lost all sense of time and was injected with terrifying hallucinogenic drugs.

Mr Heping, who is now studying at Leicester University, said he was targeted because he practices Falun Gong, which is illegal in China. Also known as Falun Dafa, it is a style of meditation and exercise similar to t'ai chi and was banned by the Chinese government in 1999.

The father-of-one said he was first arrested when his daughter was born three years ago, and was held for two days.

On his daughter's first birthday, he was arrested again and sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp.

He was tortured, made to sleep in a tiny cell with up to 10 other inmates and forced to work 10-hour days for months on end.

He was only allowed to see his family five times in 22 months.

The 34-year-old, from the city of Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province, said: "My wife visited the camp and asked why they wouldn't let her see me. She didn't want my daughter to forget what her father looked like.

"From the window I could see them - my wife and daughter - but the police wouldn't tell me they were there."

Fearing for his safety when he was released from the camp in August, he came to Britain and applied for asylum.

He wants to bring his wife and daughter over, but now his father has been arrested. He has not heard from him since March, when the 61-year-old was sentenced to a year's hard labour for having a Falun Gong book.

Mr Heping is now worried he may be tortured or killed.

He said Falun Gong had 100 million practitioners in 1999, but that the Chinese government saw it as a threat.

A spokesman for human rights charity Amnesty International said Mr Heping's story matched reports it had received from China. She said: "[...] Thousands of followers have been arrested. Many have been tortured and there are reports of people being tortured or beaten to death."

Mr. Heping has started a petition to raise awareness of his father's plight and that of other Falun Gong practitioners.

Information About Sun Feng, the Orphaned Son of Murdered Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuxia of Fushun City, Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Wang Xiuxia from Fushun City, Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province was again arrested on May 29, and was tortured to death on June 15, only half a month after her arrest. The following is some information about her son, Sun Feng.

Name: Sun Feng
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Current address: Qingyuan County in Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Other details unknown.
Current school: Sir Run Run Shaw Primary School, Qingyuan County
Guardian: A family friend

Sun Feng's mother, Wang Xiuxia, was 42 old when she was tortured to death. She had been to Beijing three times to appeal for Falun Gong and had been illegally arrested many times.

At about 10:00 a.m. on May 29, 2003, more than 20 policemen from Fushun Dongzhou Criminal Team, from the Xintun Police Station, and the Wanxin Police Station, broke into a Falun Dafa materials production site in Xintun Village and arrested Falun Gong practitioners Wang Xiuxia, Zhang Shouhui, and Kang Xiaosheng. The police tortured them until 2:00 a.m. the next day.

Wang Xiuxia started a hunger strike as soon as she was sent to the Fushun No. 2 Detention Center. The police put her in handcuffs and shackles and took her to a hospital for force-feeding a number of times. In addition, she was cuffed onto the Iron Chair (a form of torture) day and night and was unable to move either her hands or feet. She was forced to sit in one position at all times. Even under such adverse conditions, Wang Xiuxia kept shouting out "Falun Dafa is great!"

All the female practitioners that were incarcerated in the same detention center held a group hunger strike to protest the persecution of Wang Xiuxia. On the evening of June 15, Wang Xiuxai turned very pale and had difficulty breathing. She was in extremely critical condition. But the police at the detention center delayed sending her to a hospital for emergency treatment, and as a result Wang Xiuxia died in her cell.

Her family members rushed to the detention center after being notified of her death. They saw that Wang Xiuxia's body was rigid and had become misshapen. They wanted to take a close look at Wang Xiuxia's body, but the police refused their request. When they asked the police about the cause of her death, nobody could give them an answer. The police made arrangements to have her body hastily cremated during the morning of June 17.

The Difficult Life of a 14 Year Old Boy Whose Mother, Gao Xiufeng, Was Killed by Force-Feeding

(Clearwisdom.net)

Gao Xiufeng, also known as Gao Feng, was a Falun Dafa practitioner who lived in Xingsheng Township in Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province. A force-feeding tube inserted into her lung caused her death on May 19, 2001. Gao Xiufeng's son Wu Tienan is 14 years old.

Wu Tienan lives in Xingsheng Township of Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, with his father Wu Zhiqiang, a farmer. Currently he is studying in Class #4 of Grade I at Xingsheng Middle School. Li Changzhi is the teacher in charge of his class, and Qin Yongxue is the school principal.

After three months of life on-the-run to avoid persecution as a practitioner of Falun Dafa, Gao Xiufeng returned home on May 9, 2001, to help out on the family farm. On May 12 Zhan Zhigang, Assistant Chief of the Political and Security Section of Wuchang City Public Security Bureau (PSB), arrested and illegally detained her in the administrative jail of Wuchang City. She went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention and subsequently was force-fed. A week later on May 19 she was again force-fed in the People's Hospital of Wuchang City. A feeding tube was inserted improperly, penetrating her lung and resulting in her death.

The officials at the crematorium tried to cremate Gao Xiufeng's body before family members, who wanted an autopsy performed, would agree to sign the official death certificate. The Deputy Chief of Wuchang City PSB, Chen Shusen, yelled at them, "Even if you don't sign, we will still cremate the body. Such things happen all the time nationally." Then he ordered the cremation of Gao Xiufeng's corpse and instructed about six agents to immediately arrest practitioner Sun Qiang and take him to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. After the cremation, Chen Shusen tried to bribe Gao Xiufeng's husband, saying, "If you say that your wife died while practicing Falun Gong, we will give you 60,000 yuan." Their ploy did not work because her husband would not betray his conscience.

Information about Zhang Dandan, Daughter of Murdered Practitioner Zhang Yanchao

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Yanzhao was a Falun Gong practitioner from Cuijiawopeng Village, Lalin Town, Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province. Police from Division Seven of Harbin City Public Security Bureau tortured him to death in early April 2002. His daughter, Zhang Dandan, is 15 years old.

Zhang Dandan lived with her grandmother for a while in Houhuangqi Village, Lalin Town, Wuchang City. She has had to drop out of school and discontinue her studies to do odd jobs in order to make a living, since her grandmother is very poor and can't afford to pay for her schooling.

Guan Yinghua is Zhang Dandan's mother. In April 2002, Guan Yinghua asked everywhere about her husband Zhang Yanchao's whereabouts. She was later arrested and detained in Wuchang City Second Detention Center. Then she was illegally sentenced to two years in Wanjia Labor Camp. After she was released on January 17, 2004, Guan Yinghua had to become destitute and homeless to avoid further persecution.

On March 28, 2002, policeman Jia Jiwei from the Hongqi Town Police Station arrested Zhang Yanchao in Houhuangqi Village. Jia Jiwei and his accomplices searched Zhang and robbed him of 2,800 yuan. After beating him and shocking him with electric batons, they sent him to Wuchang City Prison that afternoon. Zhang Yanchao was brutally tortured in prison by a group of people including Chen Shusen and Zhan Zhigang from Wuchang City Public Security Bureau, Huang Zhanshan, Zhu Xianfu, and Fu Xiuchun from Wuchang City "610 Office." As a result of the torture, Zhang Yanchao's left leg was broken and his whole body was covered with wounds and bruises. On March 31, 2002, he was transferred to Division Seven of Harbin City Public Security Bureau. On April 1, the police took Zhang to a room in Division Seven to torture him. There were over 40 instruments of torture in the room. The police used those instruments on him nonstop for 24 hours. According to insiders, Zhang was tortured to death no more than two days after his arrival. His lifeless body was in horrible condition: his internal organs and one of his eyeballs were gone, his lower teeth were all knocked out, and most of his skin was missing.

Practitioners Exchange Insights and Experiences

Looking at the Issue of "Redressing Falun Gong" from the Perspective of Fa-Rectification

(Clearwisdom.net)

On November 4, 2004, Minghui published an article entitled "Let Go of Ordinary People's Mentality and Do Not Be Swayed by Shifts in Ordinary Society---From the Perspective of a Cultivator". The article made a deep impression on me. It helped me rectify some misconceptions I had. Falun Dafa disciples should view the issue of the Chinese Communist Party "clearing Falun Gong's name" from the perspective of Fa-rectification. This is a question of what example we will set for future generations and what we will leave the cosmos in the future. It is, in fact, an issue of whether we can continue walking the right path in Fa-rectification.

For the past five years, the persecution arranged and controlled by the old forces followed a degenerate and corrupt mentality and utilized malevolent beings in the human world. The damage caused by the persecution to Falun Dafa disciples, and to all sentient beings is inestimable. Huge numbers of beings have been destroyed because of the persecution. No matter what condition or what excuse the old forces used to arrange and launch the persecution, it is degenerate, selfish and vicious. During Fa-rectification, Master has taught us to completely negate the old forces' arrangements. How could we follow the arrangements of the old forces in ending the persecution? The rumors heard in China now are that the persecution of Falun Gong may be ended the same way that the Cultural Revolution was ended--by executing a number of police officers as scapegoats to appease the masses. This would be unacceptable.

The persecution has lasted for five years, and people have become very disgusted with it. Will they also become tired of our truth-clarification efforts to stop the persecution? Some people may have this feeling. Because the persecution has persisted for so long, they have finally come to acknowledge the existence of the persecution. Didn't the Cultural Revolution end like this? Mind you, we're talking about the irrational persecution of millions of people during the Cultural Revolution! A few of the persecuted had their reputations restored which, for the most part, occurred only at the end of the persecution. They had to feel grateful to the instigator of the persecution, who is always viewed as "great, honored, and right." The end of persecution itself becomes part of the great achievements of those who started it. As of today, no radical change in understanding of the persecution has ever been presented. In light of history, the masses might be placated if it ends this way, or even if it just subsides. They might even feel grateful toward the perpetrators who originally launched the persecution. Isn't this degenerate thinking?

Falun Dafa disciples do not accept or acknowledge such an understanding, since it is malicious and degenerate. It should be rectified and not be brought into the new cosmos. We should not feel tired in our bodies or souls because of the drawn out persecution, which may result in an unclear understanding or lower our view of the criteria of Fa-rectification.

Then how should we deal with the issue of the Party "clearing Falun Gong's name?" Of course, if people are able to clearly see the cruelty of the persecution and are able to expose the perpetrators and bring them to justice, we welcome their support with open arms. But it must be clear that without Dafa practitioners' truth clarification efforts, without practitioners' large scale elimination of malevolent beings, and without the great impact of Fa-rectification, the people in the world would have never realized the truth of the situation.

There is no need to, nor should we attach to, any particular form of Fa-rectification in the human world. We should not even speculate about its form. What we should understand is that Fa-rectification produces the best outcome, and what Fa-rectification brings to all beings at all levels in the new cosmos is the best result. Furthermore, the path that Master guides us on is the most righteous.

We should insist that we study the Fa with a calm heart and eliminate all remaining factors with righteous thoughts and clarify the truth on a large scale in order to save more sentient beings. This is especially critical at this time, because the time remaining is very precious. By doing so, the most righteous form and criteria are already present.

I do not mean that we cannot talk about "clearing Falun Gong's name." It is a good way to introduce more in depth truth-clarification to people at this time. We will stop the persecution and eliminate all elements of the persecution as soon as possible, and we will discuss the end of the persecution with the people of the world. We will create an atmosphere and climate in public opinion that will shock and eliminate the power of evil itself and has the effect of awakening and rescuing people in the world.

Every Falun Dafa Activity Targets the World's People and is Left for the Future

(Clearwisdom.net) Hoping to show people the whole picture of the truth about Falun Dafa in a short period of time, as a first step, we chose to remake the film about the New York Falun Gong parade in April 2004. I, along with a few other practitioners who made the film, watched all of the footage taken by practitioners at the New York parade.

Seeing the familiar faces pass by on film impressed me very much. In the past, I have participated in activities like parades and the Great Wall of Courage and have never realized that every activity not only targets the world's people, but will also be left for the future. Sometimes upon seeing practitioners who took photographs, a wrong thought would come to my mind: we did not come here for taking pictures. Furthermore, I had never thought of assisting event coordinators and my own demeanor often did not meet the requirements of that needed for Dafa activities.

Before, when I heard that the practitioners making the films had much difficulty, I did not truly understand. After seeing the entire New York parade footage recently, I realized that it is not only the responsibility of the practitioners making the films to leave a record for the world's people and the future. It is also the responsibility of each and every Dafa disciple. Creating a good film clip does not only depend on the persons directly in the scene, but also on the people surrounding him or her, and on even more factors. Think about it: if one practitioner behind the practitioners holding banners was chatting, or was not serious or out-of-line, then the whole film clip could not be used because of that practitioner, or perhaps a piece of the message (on the banner) could not be passed on to people and the future. At the same time, this creates a great difficulty for the practitioners editing the film.

Of course, other than the people of the world watching the events, beings at all levels of spaces are also watching every action of Dafa disciples.

People Learn the Truth of Falun Gong through Dafa Practitioners' Noble Actions

(Clearwisdom.net)

Returning the Extra 6,000 Yuan in my Deposit Card to its Rightful Owner

One day I found there was an extra 6,000 yuan (1) listed on my bank deposit card. Somebody must have deposited the money into my account by accident. Because I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, I could not accept this ill-gotten gain, so the next day I went to the bank and asked the employee to look for the owner of the money. The employee was shocked and said, "Only the people who lost something come to sort out such troubles, we have never seen a case like this since our bank opened. It is surprising that there are such good people." I told the employee, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Our Teacher taught us to be good people - the best people." Hearing this, the employee looked at me in appreciation and recorded my address and the amount of the money.

A few days later, the owner of the money called to thank me and said, "I have really met a good person! I am working away from home to help my boss with financial affairs and the boss once told me, 'If any mistakes happen, you are responsible for compensating the loss.' But I lost so much money! I was very anxious so I went to the bank to ask for help. They said they had no way to find the money for me, so I worried day and night. Even if I saved every cent, it would take over a year to compensate for that amount of money! I was worried to death! I didn't expect I could ever meet such good person like you. I must come to your home to thank you."

I told him, "You should thank my Teacher, Mr. Li Hongzhi, because he taught us to behave like this. Falun Gong teaches people how to be good, to follow 'Truthfulness, Benevolence, Tolerance," to be compassionate to other people, and to always think of others first. You don't need to come to my home to thank me and I will not accept your gift. This is just how I should behave. Every Falun Gong practitioner would have done the same thing."

Then I clarified the truth to him about Falun Gong and he said, "I am so grateful to you. Thank you for telling me these things. I am off the hook. I will tell all my friends and relatives what happened to me and I will no longer be deceived by Jiang Zemin's lies, or believe their nonsense any more."

Practitioners' Righteous Thoughts and Actions Help People to Know the Truth about Falun Gong

By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Longfang City, Hebei Province

On November 2, 2004 at about 6:30 p.m., I was on duty at my workplace when a senior engineer named Mr. Zhang came to the office and said to me, "Your Falun Gong is really good, and I am completely convinced. Let me take you to dinner. I have apologized to you many times. If you don't allow me to treat you, if you don't forgive me, then I will get down on my knees before you."

What had happened was this: some time ago, at 3:00 a.m. in a morning, Mr. Zhang came downstairs and I said 'hello' to him. Maybe he was angry with somebody and my greeting startled him in the quiet hours of night. He gave me a kick, but I said nothing and just watched him walk away. For two months after that, whenever he saw me he always apologized to me.

Mr. Zhang saw that I didn't understand him, and so he explained,

"Recently, my friend and I were driving somewhere to handle some affairs, when my friend drove the car too quickly and knocked down a middle-aged woman. The woman's hand was bleeding and it took her quite a while to stand up. My friend was scared. He was thinking, 'How much money will I have to pay after driving too fast and causing this accident? How big will the lawsuit be?'

My friend and I were trembling with fear and said to the woman, 'You must be hurt; let's go to the hospital for a check-up.' Who would have thought she would reply, ' I am ok. I am a Falun Gong practitioner. You can leave.' The woman's hand was still bleeding, but she covered the wound using a handkerchief and left. My friend stood there in a daze and said, 'We just met a good person. Falun Gong is great and Falun Gong practitioners have really good self-restraint. I am completely convinced.' I said to my friend, 'There is a Falun Gong practitioner in my workplace.' and I told him about you."

Then I became clearheaded and I said to him, "Actually, it was my fault because I didn't consider that my greeting might scare you in the middle of the night. I didn't cultivate very well. My fellow practitioner cultivated better than me."

Mr. Zhang said, "It is not like that. I am convinced because you and your fellow practitioners all did well. All you Falun Gong practitioners have really great self-restraint."

Through this occurrence, I realized that every person is a type of living media. After experiencing Fa-rectification for all these years, we should treasure even more the fruits of this period, for these fruits are composed of the great suffering that Teacher has borne for sentient beings, as well as the great sacrifice of innumerable Dafa practitioners who have lost their lives in order to clarify the truth and save people.

I realized that as Dafa practitioners we should always display our goodness to people, and do better the three things (2) that practitioners should do during Fa-rectification.

The appeal outside the Liaison Office

On October 11, 2004, at 10a.m. local time, Hong Kong's Court of Appeal handed down their unanimous opinion: An acquittal for the four Swiss Falun Gong practitioners charged with obstructing traffic outside the PRC Liaison Office in March of 2002.

On March 14, 2002, the accused were holding a hunger strike protest against an order issued by the former President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Jiang Zemin: "Shoot to kill Falun Gong practitioners on public streets." The Swiss and Hong Kong practitioners were arrested at that same location.

On September 15, 2004, after twenty six days of tough court hearings, the sixteen accused, including the four Swiss practitioners, were convicted of blocking public access. The appeals court reversed the decision and acquitted all on the major counts, including obstruction of public access.

The court affirmed the legality of the practitioners' actions on the ten meter-wide pavement. Any group with less than fifty participants may assemble, without a license, in any of Hong Kong's public places. This regulation also applies to foreigners. The court expressly points out in its first summary decision that no apparent rationale was brought forward that would justify that presentation of a license could have caused an unlawful obstruction to public access.

The verdict was one hundred pages long and separated the police accusation of obstruction of public access for the arrest. This particular issue was overruled in favor of the accuser and against the eleven accused from Hong Kong and New Zealand. Another appeal will be filed.

Flowers have been planted outside the PRC Liaison Office to prevent future demonstrations

Promoting Falun Dafa at the Body, Mind, and Spirit Expo in Phoenix, Arizona (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 6 and 7, 2004, Arizona practitioners participated in a Body, Mind, and Spirit Expo held at the Phoenix Civic Center. The people attending this expo seemed to be searching for something and many of them found it in Falun Dafa.

In the beginning, there was a lot of discussion among the practitioners about whether to participate in this expo. The cost was very high and we were aware that some bad things would be promoted at this expo. However, in the end we decided to participate and it turned out very well.

This crowd of people was very receptive. Instead of just handing out flyers, practitioners were able to speak at length to most of the people who came by the booth.

Many of the people that stopped to visit our booth seemed to be very sensitive. While teaching the exercises some of the people became excited because they could feel the energy from doing the exercises the first time. One man seemed to be drawn to our booth and stood there for a long time speaking to a practitioner while observing practitioners doing the exercises. After about 10 minutes, he told practitioners that his body was sensitive to energy. A little after that he suddenly said, "That's incredible I can feel the energy all the way over here!"

There was also a woman who came up excitedly and asked, "What's that? I can see the energy coming from their hands."

Because the people at this event were so receptive, practitioners were able to clarify the truth at length. There were also several exhibitors at the event that came by the booth to learn about Dafa. Some would return more than once as they thought of different questions.

Many of these people have been searching all over for a true practice and here it was placed right before them.
