Recounting My Visit to China: Seeing Firsthand How Jiang's Regime Spends the People's Money to Persecute Falun Gong
April 11, 2003 (Clearwisdom.net) In order to persecute Falun Gong, Jiang's regime has poured a huge amount of
money into different levels of the public security bureaus, political security
systems, judiciary systems, diplomatic systems, and "610 Offices" [an agency
specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each
level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary
systems]. They also invested a large sum of money in funding media, such as
TV stations, radio stations, and newspapers, etc., in order to sustain the
lie-breeding propaganda campaign. They even block open internet access. I will
discuss what I experienced to demonstrate how Jiang's regime spends people's
money to persecute Falun Gong. During my children's summer vacation last year, we went back to China to
visit family. We took with us a lot of truth-clarification materials and Falun
Gong books with the hope of telling people the facts when we visited our friends
and relatives. We didn't expect it, but a few days after we arrived, we noticed
that there were always some suspicious-looking people following us around.
Wherever we went, there were also police cars tailing us. Instead of keeping a
distance from us like those people in the movies, they would flagrantly follow
us in a shoulder-to-shoulder manner, which meant even a tight squeeze into a
small elevator with us. If we bought a railway ticket, they would also buy
railway tickets. If we bought first class seats, they would also buy first class
tickets. Wherever we went, they would follow us. I made a rough estimation that, over the four weeks while I was in China,
they mobilized at least 21 plainclothes police officers, five police cars, and
several taxis to shadow us. If we stayed at my home or at a relatives' place,
the police car would just park outside our door. Sometimes, they also used a
taxi to track us. When we visited the countryside, police sent two cars to
follow us, which made the residents in the village nervous. If we visited a city
in another province, they would have a new group of plainclothes police follow
us. They set up a tight tracking network over the entire nation, which included
professionals, amateurs, and temporarily hired help. If we talked to each other
in English, they would find a college student. If we talked to each other in a
local dialect, they would find a local person. During this period, we had chances to talk with the local "610 Office"
officials, as well as officials from the public security bureau of the province.
Once I told a local official , "Now there are over 500 Falun Dafa practitioners
who have been tortured to death." To my surprise, he said with certainty, "It's
not just this low number..." I didn't know why they followed me the whole time because they never arrested
me, nor did they interfere directly with our activities. I didn't understand
until a government official met with us. He gave us a warm reception and
politely asked us to "help" them. That was what they wanted to achieve by
spending a large amount people's money. I told him right away, "No way! We would
never do anything to help you persecute Falun Gong." He was very embarrassed.
Although we were not able to give the truth-clarification materials to many
people, we still utilized every opportunity to tell the truth with wisdom to
people we met. We also gave Dafa books to those who had pre-destined
relationships with Dafa. Later, because of too much interference, we decided to return to the country
we live in now. However, Air China placed obstacles in the way. They proposed
very harsh conditions and asked us each to pay over $1,000 in fees if we wanted
to change the return date. We had to give up our plan. By the way, I have a suggestion concerning the airlines. I suggest that those
practitioners who plan on visiting China make an effort not to book the tickets
on Chinese airlines. We encountered problems, like they could not find our names
in the computer system even though we had confirmed the tickets. If you take an
airline based in another country, it would not be as easy for the authorities to
interfere. On the day before we left China, they invited us to attend a dinner party in
a luxurious hotel. When we declined with the excuse that it would be too costly,
they said, "Money is not a problem. We have the funding." They asked us to make
sure to attend and told us that otherwise our relatives would be in trouble. The second day, during the dinner, an official from a provincial office
launched a new wave of persuasion, opening with "Sorry to have bothered you." He
asked us to write down his cell phone number, fax number and email address and
repeatedly asked us to contact him. He ordered many expensive dishes that loaded
the entire table, and said that it was a farewell dinner. Before he proposed any
conditions, I seriously told him, "I don't want to be a spy and will never give
up practicing Falun Gong." He looked to be at a loss. Their tactics never swayed us, but it showed us how devious they were, and
how they were wasting the people's money. We hope that the public will be able
