(Clearwisdom.net) Female Falun Dafa practitioner Lei Chuanqing, 54, was kidnapped and taken to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp and sentenced to one year of forced labor for steadfastly cultivating Dafa. She stayed resolute during this period even when surrounded by criminal prisoners and targeted for brainwashing for long periods of time. She was often tortured for practicing the exercises. She was beaten by two male guards when she refused to cooperate with the evil by not counting off as she returned from the cafeteria. They hit her more than thirty times in the ribs. Lei Chuanqing was beaten to the ground. Later, a 50-year-old male guard named Liang refused to grant her request to use the toilet. They seized her and severely beat her, causing her to defecate in her pants. Her ribs were in such pain from the beatings that she could not even raise her arms.
On the same day, a 60-year-old female Falun Dafa practitioner named Qu Yan also refused to count off. Qu Yan was sent to the forced labor camp in December 2001 because she went to Beijing twice to rectify the Fa. The team leader, Wu, disregarded the fact that she could not walk naturally because there was something wrong with her leg and kicked her to the ground. Although Qu Yan had been partially paralyzed for over thirty years, Wu ordered her to stand for over two hours. When she returned to the room, she had great difficulty walking. By dinner time, her legs were swollen, and she had difficulty even bending her legs.
Yang Duanqin, a 54-year-old female practitioner, was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. On July 15, 2001, we started a hunger strike in protest. On the fifth and sixth day, they force-fed us. Since Yang Duanqin did not yield to the force-feeding, several male doctors led by Song, the director of the hospital, took her outside and beat her. Liu Cuihua was severely beaten by two male doctors for trying to protect the fellow practitioner. The director then ordered the doctors to force-feed them. Whoever didn't cooperate with the force feeding would be severely beaten. He also personally beat Falun Dafa practitioners. At that time, Yang Duanqin and Liu Cuihua were beaten black and blue all over their faces, legs and all over their bodies. Afraid that fellow practitioners might find out the two had been beaten, the officials shut them up in a separate room to continue the force-feeding. When they were allowed to go back one week later, Liu Cuihua had so much pain in her lower back that she could not walk.
The sanitary condition in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp is very poor. The policemen ordered the Falun Dafa practitioners to live in cells not exposed to the sun. In the winter it was really cold, with water running down the walls, forming ice on the wall that was three centimeters thick. Living in dark rooms for long periods of time, many Falun Dafa practitioners suffered from scabies. Some cases were very severe, and the practitioners could not manage their personal needs with hands and feet so swollen that they could not hold chopsticks or wear shoes. Their bodies oozed with blood and pus, and they could not wear some clothing. The officials always told the practitioners sent to the hospital that they would not charge them for treatment. When the practitioners' families came to visit them, the labor camp always charged the families for medical expenses. Guard Yu Fangli forced prisoner Wang Xiaohong to beat the practitioners and watch over them. She did not allow them to practice the exercises or study the Fa. When Wang Xiaohong refused to follow her orders, they prolonged her prison term. Yu Fangli frequently beat and cursed the Falun Dafa practitioners at will.

[Bozhou City, Anhui Province] Hunger-Striking Practitioner Suffers the Torture Instrument "Three-Claw Shackles" Even After 36 Days Abstinence from Food
By March 24, 2002, Dafa practitioners Ms. Mao Luge, Ms. Liang Minglan and Ms. Wang Li had already been on a hunger strike for 36 days in Bozhou City's Qiliqiao Criminal Detention Center. Ms. Mao Luge is the most severely tortured of the three. Thugs separated her from other practitioners. Even though she had been on a hunger strike for more than thirty days, she was put on a torture instrument named "three-claw shackles." (Note: In this torture, both feet are shackled and one hand is handcuffed and connected to the shackles with an iron chain. Therefore, the victim cannot straighten the back when standing up or stretch the back when lying down. It is excruciatingly painful). Right now, Ms. Mao Luge is on the verge of death. From April 26th on, all practitioners detained in the Qiliqiao Detention Center have started a hunger strike to protest the inhumane torture of Ms. Mao Luge.
Thugs in Bozhou City made a decision half a month ago that they would not release these practitioners, no matter how long the practitioners would remain on the hunger strike, even if practitioners die from it. We call on the international community to pay close attention to this issue.
[Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Qiu Cuixiang Savagely Tortured in Chongqing City's Female Forced Labor Camp
At Chongqing City's Female Labor Camp, practitioner Ms. Qiu Cuixiang has been handcuffed on the back and hung up for more than 100 days. [With both hands cuffed, both feet off the ground or only toes barely touching the ground, one is hung onto the basketball support or the beam of the house with the handcuff. The hands and arms will soon lose circulation and become numb] She was continuously hung up for 24 days and not allowed to sleep. If she dozed off slightly, the drug addicts would poke her eyes with pins. She was often beaten until bruised all over. Ms. Qiu advised the prisoner to be good, but the prisoner said, "I have to torture you because there is a gun behind me." Furthermore, because Qiu insisted on saying, "Falun Dafa is good!" her whole face was covered with yellow adhesive tape, including her nose and mouth, which caused her to pass out.
Afterwards Qiu said, "I couldn't have survived without Teacher's protection." Right now, she is still being brutally tortured at the labor camp. Before the New Year, officers in the labor camp illegally extended Qiu's detention term by ten months.
Some people know that officials at the labor camp, including the head of the political committee, the director, section chief and division chiefs all hate Ms. Qiu very much because she resisted the persecution, abuse and mistreatment and she once openly and with dignity walked out of the labor camp. Officials considered her a "VIP" and aggravated the tortures against her. One day, when another practitioner had just laid down, she saw some thugs put a plastic bag over Ms. Qiu's head and attempt to suffocate her. The practitioner was very worried about Qiu, especially after Jiang irrationally claimed, "Kill them without pardon!"

[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Unknown Circumstances about Hunger-Striking Practitioners in Chengdu City's Detention Center
Beginning April 15, Ms. Zhu Li, a practitioner from Chengdu City started a hunger strike again to protest the persecution and has been on the hunger strike for more than ten days so far.
On November 21, 2001, Ms. Zhu Li was illegally arrested. When she was illegally detained at Chengdu City's Police Department Detention Center, she was brutally force-fed when she was on a hunger strike. Later she was transferred to Jiangpu County's Detention Center. In late February 2002, practitioners saw Zhu at Pi County's Detention Center in Chengdu City. At that time Zhu's leg was broken. Right now she is on another hunger strike to protest the persecution. Kind-hearted people, please help!
Since the Spring Festival, Wang Kai and several other Dafa practitioners have been detained in Chengdu City's Detention Center. They have constantly been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Someone who came from the detention center said they were in very critical danger. Several months have passed. The circumstances about their lives or deaths are unclear.
[Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Vicious Police Offer a "Reward" of 70,000 Yuan for the Arrest of Dafa Practitioners
The news reported that practitioner Mr. Zang Jianlong, his wife and also practitioner Tie Junying from Shuangcheng City were on the wanted list of Heilongjiang Province's Police Department. This was broadcast four times on Shuangcheng City TV Station, which published detailed information of the three practitioners' facial features and characteristics. They also announced that the "reward" for people who provide clues leading to their arrests totals 70,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income in urban China]. The rewards are 30,000, 20,000 and 20,000 for the three practitioners, respectively. Such a huge sum is really a big temptation for many poor people who have been laid off for a long time. Practitioner Tie Junying was illegally arrested when clarifying the truth in Zhoujia Town, Shuangcheng City. Zang Jianlong and his wife temporarily escaped with help from a fellow practitioner and a good person.
Among the nearly 200 practitioners on the black list of Shuangcheng City's Police Department, more than 30 practitioners have been illegally arrested. Policemen extorted confession with brutal tortures. It was heard from inside sources that the police could torture practitioners by all means as long as the practitioners have a last gasp of breath left. We can imagine the degree of brutality. Policemen in Xinxing Town and others also began to arrest practitioners on a large scale. They forced practitioners to sign the "guarantee statement" and "repentance statement." Those practitioners who refused to sign would be put into a forced labor camp or jail. (Note: these statements declare that a practitioner regrets practicing Falun Gong, will never again associate with other practitioners, will never again go to Beijing to appeal and will give up the practice of Falun Gong forever).
This time, the "special case" group made up of police officials from Beijing, Changchun City and Heilongjiang Province's Police Department spread slanders, saying "Dafa practitioners will kill children to reach Consummation," to create an atmosphere of horror in order to delude people who don't know the truth. In the meantime, they brutally torture Dafa practitioners.
[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Saying "Falun Gong is Good" Earns a Woman a Two-year Forced Labor Camp Sentence
A Harbin City woman had heard of Falun Gong in 1998 but had never practiced. Today she was sentenced to two years of forced labor and moved to Harbin City's Wanjia Labor Camp Hospital for emergency treatment because of acute onset of severe heart disease. She told others that she does not deserve this. She had heard that her brother-in-law was kidnapped and had disappeared. Someone told her he might be in Beijing, so she took a train to Beijing to find him. Immediately after she got off the train a police officer blocked her way and asked her, "Is Falun Gong good or bad?" She replied, "Good." Because of her positive response she was arrested and taken back to Harbin City. An individual named Guan Xin and others interrogated her in the Power Subdivision. They did not listen to her explanation nor did any investigating, but they sentenced her to two years of forced labor re-education without due process of law.
Recently she heard that her brother-in-law's body was found. She grieved. Her heart problems have flared up many times. This is another example of what Jiang blatantly calls "the best human rights period in China's history."
[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Wanjia Labor Camp Hospital: an Accomplice in the Persecution of Dafa Practitioners
In early November 2001, I was temporarily detained at Harbin City's Wanjia Labor Camp Hospital. Ever since January 21, 2002, practitioners Ms. Liu Limei and Ms. Wang Liyan, 51 years old, up until now have been on a hunger strike lasting several months to protest the persecution. They are force-fed daily. Wang Liyan vomits severely each day after the force-feeding tube is inserted into her stomach. It also causes stomach bleeding. Doctors and nurses do not care about her and continue this daily inhumane force-feeding, causing her immense anguish.
[Tianjin] Tianjin University Officials Openly Order Students to Slander Falun Gong; Non-Compliance Deprives Students of their Right of Graduate School Enrollment
When the students who applied to Graduate School of Tianjin University are interviewed prior to enrollment, the interviewer would ask if they are Falun Gong practitioners and also require students to write a statement to declare that they are not Falun Gong practitioners. Moreover, students are told to slander Falun Gong according to the requirements. If students cannot pass the interview to the satisfaction of the university authorities they would not be enrolled as graduate students. Jiang's regime is trying to suppress and persecute Falun Gong in all aspects and with all imaginable means.
[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Monitor Installation in Each Television Cable Connection Box
After the Dafa truth-clarifying programs were aired through the cable television networks on March 5 in Changchun City, Jilin Province, monitors are being installed in each cable connection box. Each connection box can be visually monitored to within a distance of 100 meters (approximately 310 feet). Since March 5, some people have been dispatched from each work unit to monitor the TV cable lines around the clock, until the overall installation is completed.
[Laishui County, Hebei Province] Sun Jinbo, Laishui County Party Committee Director and Vanguard Persecutor of Dafa Practitioners
Sun Jinbo, newly appointed director of Hebei Province's Laishui County Party Committee took the initiative in persecuting Falun Gong. On the morning of April 26, 2002, thugs held an illegal trial of five practitioners at Laishui County's Workers Club. Without any due legal process, practitioners Cao Xiaoping, Jin Wanjiu, Zhao Xiliang and Liu Yulian were illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor, and practitioner Yan Zongqin was sentenced to one year of forced labor. On the evening of April 24, practitioner Cao Xiaoping was illegally arrested from home. Only one day later she was sentenced. This is what Jiang calls the "legal system."

The day before the AAPP meeting, police in Chongqing City escalated their persecution against innocent practitioners with the excuse of "protecting the Peace Conference." Though peace and human rights are hot topics during the AAPP Conference, ordinary people who cultivate "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" are forcibly deprived of their human rights. Some practitioners were under surveillance at home and not allowed to go outside, while strangers or someone wearing sunglasses watched their homes around the clock. Police broke into several practitioners' homes and took some of them away by force; others were forced to live in exile to avoid the persecution. Some practitioners' family members left home with the practitioners to avoid illegal arrest. This is Jiang regime's public, worldwide declaration to be "the best human rights period in China's history."
[Jilin City, Jilin Province] Thugs Weighed down with Dafa Truth-Clarifying Banners Everywhere
Lots of Dafa truth-clarifying messages continuously appeared in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Some were banners, some posters, others were written with chalk, some were stamped on and some were painted with spray paint. Statements of principle appeared again after thugs scraped them off, and banners were posted again after the previous ones were torn down. The authorities grew furious and kept a tight watch on practitioners. They hired ruffians or people who don't know about the truth to monitor Dafa practitioners. They stayed near practitioners' homes until midnight. Practitioners are tracked even when they buy vegetables.
[Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Illegal Arrest of Dozens of Practitioners on April 24
On the night of April 24, officers from Benxi City's Police Department, Liaoning Province started a large-scale raid against practitioners. So far, dozens of practitioners have been arrested. It was said that officers had conducted a blanket-style search. Police authorities even released or transferred criminals who were in detention to make room for the arrested Dafa practitioners. Officials from Benxi City's "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] even imposed a quota and forced every police officer to arrest more than ten practitioners. Those who could not meet the quota would have their salaries or bonuses reduced.
[Jilin City, Jilin Province] Illegal Arrest of Female Dafa Practitioners Zhang Liying and Bai Yun
Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Liying and Ms. Bai Yun were illegally detained and sent to a Forced Labor Camp because they went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After they learned that no one in a remote village had obtained the Fa, they brought Dafa truth-clarifying materials to the villagers. On April 25, 2002, police unlawfully arrested them when they clarified the truth. They were detained at the city police precinct and their homes were shamelessly ransacked. Recently, policemen did not get anything from them. According to a police insider, the two women practitioners will be sentenced to a Forced Labor Camp.
[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Arrest of Practitioners Yang Fengling and Tang Shuhong
In the evening of March 9, as she was waiting for someone on the other side of the road, practitioner Ms. Yang Fengling was arrested. She is the wife of Mr. Luu Yan who was one of the 13 Dafa practitioners illegally sentenced in Nanguan District.
During the following two days she was continuously interrogated in Chaoyang District's Police Precinct. An eyewitness practitioner saw her being forced to make a confession while being handcuffed to an iron chair.
On March 8, Ms. Tang Shuhong who lives in the residential section of the Mengjia Micro Electronics Factory was arrested.
[Jining City, Shandong Province] A Policeman Claims, "It Means Guilty When I Call It Guilty; It Means Innocent When I Call It Innocent"
Officer Wang Kaiguang from Jining City's Police Department has been working really hard to persecute Falun Gong, mainly because he gains "benefits" from terrorizing these kind-hearted people. I will give an example to expose his vicious nature. Once Wang Kaiguang found that a practitioner who had been sentenced to forced labor had some savings in the bank, so he went to the labor camp and said to the practitioner, "Why are you enduring the hardships here? Why don't you think of a way to leave here and spend some money to get out of here?" The practitioner replied in a dignified way, "I didn't violate any laws and I will not spend a penny on it!" Wang Kaiguang still didn't abandon his aim. He went to contact the practitioner's child and threatened, "It means guilty when I call it guilty, and it means innocent when I call it innocent." In order to achieve his goal, Wang found an excuse and detained the practitioner's relatives.
[Dehui City, Jilin Province] Abduction of Three Dafa Practitioners
On April 18, two plainclothes police officers arrested Mr. Zhao Xishun from Yangshu Village while he made a phone call in a store near Dehui City's Experimental Middle School. At around 12:00 a.m. on April 23, Mr. Sun Dawei from Dehui City was arrested while painting Dafa signs. At present, they are detained at Dehui City's Detention Center and are staging a hunger strike.
March 13, 2002 Night time Abduction of Ms. Wang Xiuxiang from Daqingzui Town
At around 8:00 p.m. on March 13, some policemen from Daqingzui Town came to Ms. Wang Xiuxiang's home. They broke in the door, ransacked her home and found a Dafa truth-clarifying VCD. Only because of this, Ms. Wang Xiuxiang was forcibly taken to the police station. Five to six policemen took turns beating her for two hours with a rigid white plastic pipe. When Ms. Wang fainted they woke her up, left her lying in the yard for a long period of time and then sent her to Dehui City's Detention Center. Ms. Wang was carried into and out of the car due to her extreme weakness. When her family members came to visit her the next day, she was still unable to go downstairs. But the policemen at the detention center said, "She doesn't want to see you." Ms. Wang was able to go downstairs with the assistance of two other people when her family came to see her the second time. Her family members then found out that she had been unconscious for several days after being so severely abused. She could not eat or take care of herself. At present, Ms. Wang Xiuxiang is badly injured and was forcibly sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for further abuse and mistreatment, and perhaps even torture.
The staff of the Police Station are still searching everywhere for Ms. Wang's daughter, a practitioner who is now being forced to live in exile. Ms. Wang's 70-year-old father-in-law and her husband are now left at home. As such, a peaceful and close-knit family was separated by the scoundrel dictatorial regime.
[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Newly Established "610 Office" in Dadong District Plans to Set up a Brainwashing Class
It's said Dadong District's "610 Office," was set up last week. The higher authorities specially allocated a minibus to them to arrest Dafa practitioners. They claimed to the public that whoever arrests a Dafa practitioner will be rewarded with 800 Yuan; reporting a practitioner will get a 200-400 Yuan reward and if the scoundrel thinks it is not enough the award is negotiable, to up to 800 Yuan. At present, they are polling the Street Administrative Staff about practitioners on the list who had refused to write the "Separation Statement" (A statement saying that they will give up the practice of Falun Gong forever). They are planning to set up a brainwashing class. There are already some units that have prepared a list of practitioners' names.
[Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Maneuver Fire Engine to Arrest Dafa Practitioners
At around 9 p.m. on April 13, 2002, police officers took Ms. Zang Yuxia from Daqing City away from home because she refused to tell the source of a VCR. They cuffed her to an iron chair for two days.
At around 9 a.m. on April 20, 2002, police took practitioner Jiang Derong away from home. Jiang refused to open the door for the police but was forcibly taken away by police who had commandeered a fire engine and an aerial ladder to break in through the windows.
As practitioners in China face tremendous pressure to give up their beliefs under the Chinese regime's brutal persecution, there are those who have given in and signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa. However, many of these people deeply regret doing so after they are released from detention and labor camps. "Solemn declarations" are the public statements made by such practitioners, often at great risk to their personal safety, to declare to the world that the documents they signed under duress are null and void and that they will continue to practice Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am 38 years old. I was an engineer of a company in Panjin City, but because I practiced Falun Gong, Jiang's regime illegally persecuted me. Since April 25, 1999, I have been mentally and physically abused. The following is a detailed account of the persecution I suffered:
On July 20, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Policemen from the Liaohe Oil Field Police Department in Panjin City found me after they searched all the hotels along Qianmen Street near Tiananmen Square. After I was arrested, my family was in severe mental distress.
After returning to my work unit, my Dafa books were confiscated and burned. The police tried to force me to write a statement criticizing Falun Gong, but I did not cooperate. Slanderous propaganda against Dafa was spread throughout the country, so all my colleagues were scared to associate with me. Thus, I was completely isolated.
On November 25, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa again, but my family members brought me back. Police illegally ransacked my home and attempted to detain me, but they failed.
On December 19, 1999, I was detained when Beijing Daixing County's Police Department illegally searched Dafa practitioners' residences. During the detention period, I was threatened, interrogated, and forced to squat and stand for a long time. The police also used Dafa books to violently hit me on the head. They locked me up in an iron cage. In the detention center, they forcibly took my picture and fingerprinted me. Over 20 people were packed in one cell. There was only enough room to sleep on our sides with one foot suspended upon the other. Two Dafa practitioners had to sleep on the cement floor near the restroom. When leaving this detention center, the police forcibly confiscated my address book, one Dafa book and more than 300 Yuan [400-500 Yuan is the average monthly income in urban China]. Though I returned the blanket I had to rent from the detention center, the deposit was not refunded.
On December 19, 1999, in Liaoning Province's liaison office in Beijing, I was not given any food for the whole day. Policemen took turns monitoring and interrogating me.
From December 20 to 31, 1999, I was detained at the Liaohe Oil Field Police Department. At that time, the weather was extremely cold. There was little heat supply in the cell. The accommodation expenses, however, were 20 Yuan per day. The food we had consisted of corn porridge, steamed cornbread, and cabbage soup. No drinking water was provided. During this period, they illegally ransacked my home and fined me 3000 Yuan. One month's salary and part of my annual bonus was also withheld.
From January 3 to 12, 2000, my work unit held a nine-day brainwashing class. Every department director of the work units took turns to monitor their practitioners. However, the brainwashing class ended in failure.
On August 15, 2000, I was illegally arrested in a fellow practitioner's home. Policemen confiscated two Dafa books and some of Teacher's new articles. I was threatened and interrogated. The National Security Bureau's liaison office in Panjin City, Panjin City's Police Department, the Liaohe Oil Field Police Department, the Xinglongtai Police Station, and the Lujing Company Security Section searched my office. Policemen from Xinglongtai District Police Department illegally detained me. During the detention period, the food was terrible and no drinking water was provided. The prison guards' behavior was abhorrent. I was fined 3000 Yuan, and one month's salary and bonus were suspended.
In November 2000, my office was illegally searched and one Dafa book was confiscated.
On December 31, 2000, my office was illegally searched again. Afterwards, I risked my own life to get back the Dafa book that had been confiscated. Then the police interrogated me and tried to force me to sign the search warrant, but I did not cooperate. Each time they searched through and confiscated my belongings, the office was turned upside down.
In the work unit, my activities were illegally monitored. I was prohibited to use office phones, fax and other communication facilities. Nor was I allowed to access the Internet, speak casually, or walk around. In February 2001, the situation became worse. Because they were afraid that I would clarify the truth, they would not allow anyone to talk with me about Falun Dafa. No one was allowed to come and listen to me clarify the truth. Otherwise, his or her salary would be withheld. They might even get fired. My work unit leaders also encouraged my colleagues to report to the authorities about my whereabouts. Then they used my withheld salary to reward those people who reported me. During work hours, I was only permitted to walk around my table. Someone even followed me when I went to the restroom. Furthermore, I was not allowed to call my family and children and part of my annual bonus was withheld.
Since March 2001, my home has been monitored. Policemen took turns watching me around the clock. On the sensitive dates, I would be harassed and issued subpoenas.
On August 25, 2001, I was illegally detained for 24 hours in Shenyang City. Police would not let me sleep for the whole night. At midnight, they turned on a fan at the maximum speed to blow directly on me. The director of the Taochang Police Station forcefully trampled on my legs and slapped my face. They cuffed me to a chair and did not give me any food or drink for the whole day, though 100 Yuan had been taken from me for accommodation expenses.
On the evening of August 26, 2001, policemen from the Liaohe Oil Field Police Department intended to illegally detain me. Because I did not cooperate, I was dragged on the ground. As a result, the flesh on my knees was torn off and the bone was exposed. From August 27 until now, I have had to live in exile. In December 2001, I was expelled from my work unit. At present, I am on the wanted list in Panjin City, Liaoning Province.
From August to September 2001, my home was illegally ransacked three times.

Since July 20, 1999, the unlawful officials and policemen in Weifang City, Shandong Province have tortured over 60 Dafa practitioners to death, and illegally sent many practitioners to labor camps; those Dafa practitioners suffered inhumane torture and abuse. Countless Dafa practitioners lost their jobs, their families were torn apart, and many became homeless.
At around 8 o'clock in the evening on April 15, 2002, about 20 to 30 plainclothes policemen kidnapped 4 homeless Dafa practitioners who were eating dinner together at an outdoor restaurant. In just a matter of days, Dafa practitioners were disappearing secretly. No one knew of the practitioners' whereabouts.
Recently, Jia Honghai from Weifang Qingzhou City, Shandong Province was one of the practitioners who was kidnapped on April 15, 2002. He was illegally detained at the Qingzhou Detention Center. From the moment of his kidnapping, he began a hunger strike, and it continues to this day. His life is now in danger and he desperately needs kindhearted people to pay close attention and give him help.
We hope the rightness people who are providing this news can investigate further into this matter. For all Dafa practitioners who read this article, we hope you can fully consider how important it is to send forth rightness thoughts and to eradicate all the evil that damages Dafa. We must all do our best during Fa-rectification!

"They Too Are Saved."
One day, I went to visit my brother-in-law at his home to tell him that, "Falun Dafa is the Universal Law; it teaches people to be good. If you, from the bottom of your heart, realize that Falun Dafa is good, then, you will have a good future." However, he couldn't believe me no matter how hard I tried to explain it to him.Coincidentally, he received a CD truth-clarifying disk a few days later. As he is an illiterate person and couldn't tell what was written on the CD disk, he played the CD disk and watched it with all his family members. About a week later, when my brother-in-law saw me in his neighborhood, he called me over and took me into his home. He shut the door behind him, as he didn't want other people to hear what he said. He told me, "I received a CD disk and found out that there are a lot of people in many countries cultivating Falun Gong. It is really good. Our brother, sister and myself have all changed our opinion. Jiang is doomed. Now I know that the Tiananmen self-immolation was a fake story. I will not believe the TV news any more. If I didn't watch the CD disk, I wouldn't have known the truth. Now we know what Jiang is up to."
I felt very happy after I heard what he said, because they too are saved.
Some Policemen Have Stopped Persecuting Falun Dafa Practitioners in a Certain City in Northeastern China
In a city in Northeastern China, all staff, which includes the Chief of Staff, the policemen, the prisoners, and the security guards, have all learned the truth of Falun Dafa. Now there are no vicious actions of persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners happening there. Some policemen even offered people who came to visit Dafa practitioners special accommodations. They have put themselves in a correct position. We are happy that they will be able to have a nice future.

(Clearwisdom.net) The younger sister of a practitioner does not practice Falun Gong. This woman had observed the changes in her sister's physical and mental health. When she learned that Dafa practitioners offer salvation to people, are not intimidated by arrest, are beaten, sent to labor camps, sentenced to jail, and even lose their lives, she was moved to tears. She voluntarily saved 200 Yuan [400-500 Yuan is average monthly income in urban China] from her living expenses to support Dafa practitioners printing material to offer salvation to people deceived by the lying propaganda.
An older person in her seventies saved 100 Yuan from her living expenses and voluntarily gave it to Dafa practitioners for making truth-clarifying material to offer salvation to people.
One practitioner's husband was beaten to death before she started to practice Dafa. Because of her agony, she cried so much that she almost lost her sight. She was weak from multiple diseases. She and her child were dependant upon each other. After she started to practice Dafa, the woman regained her health and no longer needed to take any medicine. She used her savings to offer salvation to people and hopes kind-hearted people will not be deceived by the lies anymore and wake up as early as possible.

Officials in Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province are demoted
Officials in Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, including Party Secretary Luo Diguang, Mayor Wang Shaofeng, and Police Station Chief Zou Aiming, maliciously persecuted Dafa practitioners. Ten practitioners were kidnapped to a labor camp, 20 practitioners were sent to long detention center terms, and 60 more were given short-term detention center sentences. All three individuals were demoted to regular employee status, due to an accident.
A case of immediate retribution in Rizhuang Town, Laixi City, Shandong Province
Wang Lunwen, 69 years old, was a resident of Rizhuang Town, Laixi City, Shandong Province. In early March of 2002, he removed some Dafa posters because of his wrong opinion towards Dafa. After he finished his task, he volunteered to remove more Dafa posters. On his way back home he fell from his bicycles and later did not feel good. He managed to report to work in the next couple of days. The last day of work he fell again from his bicycle. He never returned to work again, and died about one week later.
To cherish Dafa is to cherish your own life. "Good will be rewarded with good and evil will meet evil" is the truth of the universe.

(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of August 25, 2001, I was arrested when I was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying flyers. Later, I was sent to the Suncun Sheriff Team under Yuhua District Police Department in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei province. A few policemen wanted to take my picture but I firmly refused to cooperate. One policeman jumped up, beat me with his fist, kicked me with his feet, twisted my arm behind my back and pulled my hair. But I closed my eyes. When they saw they couldn't take my picture, they gave up. One policeman (probably the unit chief) interrogated me, but I didn't answer him at all; I just kept telling the truth to them. That evening, I was locked up in a detention room. This was during my menstrual period, but they didn't allow me to use the bathroom. The next morning, a police officer interrogated me again, but I still didn't cooperate. Then two police officers came up and handcuffed me, pulled my hair and slapped my face twice. They told me to kneel down but I refused. One police officer forcibly stomped my legs from the back, and forcibly pressed me down to the floor. I said, "I would rather die than kneel down!" So I then I fell on the floor. One police officer got a wooden stick and one person stepped on my hands while two other people held my legs. They hit my buttocks with the wooden stick, causing it to break into two pieces. After a little while, they found another stick and placed it on my calf, saying, "We will give you a massage." Then the two policemen stepped on the wooden stick, and pressed it back and forth on my leg. This stick also broke. One police officer saw that I still didn't answer, so he took out a needle and pushed it under my fingernail. He then used a lighter to heat up the needle.
I was not afraid, but I thought in my heart that I shouldn't accept the tribulations the old forces imposed on us. I silently recited the Fa-rectification formula. I really didn't feel the pain. The policemen felt tired after beating me, so they locked me up in the detention room again. In the afternoon, two police officers switched turns. One of them was called Gao Wensheng. He once again brutally beat me. He pushed needles into my fingernails, stepped on my face and calf with his boots, ruthlessly hit my back with his boots, pulled my hair, slapped my ears and face, shoved the inside of his boot in my mouth forcing me to smell the stench, and used other brutal methods. They detained me there for five days. My two legs were beaten black and blue. I refused to eat and drink to protest their persecution towards Dafa practitioners. Five days later, I was sent to Hebei Province, Luancheng County Detention Center and illegally detained. Another practitioner and I persisted in studying the Fa and practicing the exercises there.
Four months later, after I protested their persecution against me with a hunger strike, I was transferred to No. 2 Detention Center at Shijiazhuang City. Because I didn't cooperate with the persecution, I was forcibly carried into the supervision room. Once I arrived at the supervision room, I was brutally beaten up by the criminal prisoners and was handcuffed on a so-called "safety-chair." I had to depend on the help of another practitioner, Wang Yunman, to wash my face, brush my teeth, and relieve myself.
Dafa practitioners had no freedom there; we were not allowed to practice the exercises. Whenever we practiced the exercises, we would receive a brutal beating. Dafa practitioner Bai Yuzhi was handcuffed on the "safety-chair" for nine days. Our bodies and faces were covered with bruises. The guards didn't allow Dafa practitioners to talk to each other. Once we reported to the detention center director about the situation of the criminal prisoners casually beating and cursing Dafa practitioners. As a result, cell leader Song Yang instigated prisoners Sa Shuhong, Liu Qiuzhen and others to brutally beat Wang Yunman, a northeastern Dafa practitioner, Zhao Hongying and me. They threw our blankets to the floor and did not allow us to go to sleep. Because several Dafa practitioners went on hunger strike to protest the persecution against us, we were often brutally beaten. Once, I refused to be force-fed, and was beaten and kicked by four or five prisoners, including Ren Jing, Jia Ruitao and Gai Jiling. After they pressed me down and finished the force-feeding, they brutally beat me and my blood ran down from my nose. Some kind people could not bear to see this, and they stepped forward to stop it. As a result, they also received a beating and cursing from the prisoners. The prison doctor and police officer Zhang Haiyan (female) who were in charge of force-feeding were on the scene but none of them stopped them. The force-feeding tube was very thick, and the insertion of the tube was also very cruel. I was beaten and cursed by prison doctors Liu and Jia many times. Once, Bai Yuzhi and I were called to the infirmary. Doctor Jia asked us to give up the hunger strike but we refused. Jia then slapped Bai Yuzhi's face twice. At that time, Bai Yuzhi had already been on hunger strike for more than two months, and she fainted right away. After she was forcibly acupunctured, she was carried back to the supervision room. I was also forcibly acupunctured. Now Bai Yuzhi has been on hunger strike for four months, and Wang Yunman and another practitioner has also been on hunger strike for two months, and it's still going on. The police still refuse to release them. I was illegally detained beyond my term for seven months. After having been on hunger strike for three months, I became very weak and couldn't get up from bed so I was sent to a hospital for a transfusion. That evening, with Master's giving me the strength, I walked out of the hospital. After having experienced seven and a half months of illegal persecution, I returned back into the Fa-rectification. This is Dafa's great power and virtue, Master's mercy.
We were fortunate to be able to read Master's "Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A." in the detention center, which further strengthened our hearts and made our faith in Dafa as solid as a rock. The disciples utilized all their time to share views, recite the Fa, send forth righteous thoughts together, and encourage each other. At the same time, the disciples also used every chance to promote the Fa and clarify the truth to prisoners who had kind hearts. There were kind people who obtained the Fa in the detention center.
Through this experience, I became more firm. As long as our hearts firmly believe in Dafa and firmly believe in Master, we can become a diamond-solid unified body and as hard as a giant rock. Then there is nothing we cannot do, and no test that we cannot pass. The evil is nothing.

There was a story told from Buddha Sakyamuni's cultivation. One day, Sakyamuni was meditating under the Bodhi tree. The light emitted from his body penetrated all the way to the demon's palace. The demon was angered, and sent three beautiful she-devils to lure the prince (Sakyamuni). The prince used his supernormal powers to let the she-devils see through their own bodies and the dirtiness inside. The she-devils were defeated.
When Teacher Li was teaching the Fa, there was a snake spirit that came to disturb the dissemination of the Fa. In Zhuan Falun, Teacher wrote:
"Because he always committed bad deeds and interfered with my teaching of Dafa, I then eliminated him completely. After he was eliminated, his fellow sisters and brothers all wanted to take action. At that point, I said a few words. They were all shocked and became so scared that none of them dared to do anything. They also came to understand what was going on." (Chapter 5, Zhuan Falun)
In my current level, I realized that Teacher eliminated the snake in order to let the people know the truth, distinguish right from wrong, and expose the evil to the light of day. Exposing the evil is, at the same time, suffocating the evil and bringing salvation to the sentient beings.
Not long after I got out of prison, the "610 Office" tried to force my wife to attend a brainwashing class. She refused to cooperate, and left home the same day. On the following day, agents from the work unit, police station and "610 Office" came and threatened us, and said that they would arrest somebody. At that time, many neighbors and people who passed by stood and watched. My parents and I patiently talked to the agents. My parents said, "Our daughter in-law is loved by everyone in her work unit. She is responsible and takes all kinds of hardship from work without complaints. She is not attached to personal gains. At home, she respects the elders and loves the children. She does the household chores. She never fights with people and is kind to others. The friends and neighbors all say she is honest and kind. My son is the same. After practicing Falun Gong they got rid of all their bad habits and stopped doing bad deeds. They never do things that harm others to benefit themselves. They never participate in arguments that concern power or self-interests. They always work honestly and know how to live their lives. They steadfastly cultivate their own xinxing (mind nature), and raise their virtue. Is this "evil" by your standard? And is this the excuse to send them to a brainwashing class? In fact, of the people like you, my spouse and I, and many people from society, who is actually more virtuous or more kind than they are? We all have our moral standards and we know right from wrong, and they are kind people. You are trying to arrest the good people as if they are bad. You don't distinguish right from wrong, or kindness from evil. Today I will risk our lives to tell you the truth. You people are going too far." The elder's logical speech was well received by the onlookers. The evil agents knew that they lacked reasoning, so they said that the higher authorities arranged it. After a few days of unreasonable harassment, they stopped coming. Fortunately, my wife did not have to go to the brainwashing class, and justice had defeated evil.
After this incident, we deeply experienced the importance of clarifying the truth, exposing the evil and not cooperating with the evil. People have the ability to understand what is going on and make decisions. We firmly believe that when more people learn the truth of Dafa, the evil that persecutes Dafa and practitioners will have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide and will be eliminated on its own.
I hope practitioners can compassionately point out any mistakes in my understanding.
As many of you know, I traveled to China recently with my brother Jason and his girlfriend Christine. Our overall purpose of the trip was to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to as many Chinese people as we could and remove the poisonous propaganda that they have been in-undated with. My personal purpose was simply to share with the everyday Chinese people my many wonderful experiences with Falun Dafa, the great recognition and support it has received overseas, and to expose the evil persecution and killing that is going on in China. I know that the Chinese people are really kind and good people at their core, and they would not stand for the persecution of good people if they knew the truth. It's only that they have been victimized to such a great extent by having their cores covered up by evil elements and slanderous words that they allow such things to happen. So I went to China to ask them to just think about what is really going on in this persecution. Why is the Chinese President funneling all of China's resources into persecuting good people? Why is he the only leader in the entire world who persecutes Falun Dafa while all the others say good things about it? Who is right and who is wrong? Who is good and who is bad? What is true and what is false? I had hoped that if the Chinese people had calmed down and took a step back from the confusion to look at these questions, they would find the sea and the sky boundless, and it would surely be another scene.
Unfortunately, as you also know, I didn't make it very far in China before I was arrested and detained, and I never got to do what I had originally set out to do. I was only in China for about 1 ? hours before I was grabbed off the street, and was only able to talk with about five people. However, of these five people, the result seemed to be positive. They all looked at the information I gave them and upon seeing what it was about exclaimed "Oh, Falun Gong, Thank you!" So in this sense, even though I probably did not use enough caution when handing the information out and it was not very wise to be doing such a thing in Beijing, I still do not regret doing it for a second. If one person read the information and no longer wanted to go along with the slanderous propaganda to persecute Falun Dafa, then my trip was worth it.
Looking back at why I was taken off the street, I think mainly it was due to my own omissions of fear and not having a righteous enough mind. As soon as the undercover policeman grabbed me and I saw that he had the information that I had handed out in his hand, my first thought was "Oh no, he's got the information and knows why I am here." This in itself was already accepting the old forces arrangement and giving into the persecution, because it was acknowledging that I was doing something that was potentially dangerous or not allowed. In fact, from the standard of Dafa and a Fa-rectification disciple being responsible to all sentient beings, it was the best thing I could be doing, and I should have walked away with dignity.
Through the process of being detained, I came to realize these shortcomings more clearly, and was tested whether or not I could hold to my belief in Falun Dafa when faced with beatings and harassment. It was pretty tough sometimes, but not too tough because I felt I was being helped out a whole lot. I went on a hunger strike the entire time I was there and didn't have food or water for 48 hours. However, I felt neither hungry nor thirsty, and my physical energy level remained stable. When being beaten by the guards and punched in the face and torso, even though the punches were really hard, I felt like they were very hollow at the same time as if their force had been diminished. When I was first arrested, I felt really bad at not being able to step out of the confrontation on the street and walk away with dignity. But after a while, I realized that holding onto this thought was not righteous, so I put it down and just tried to focus on what I could do in the present. Like Teacher said in the Washington D.C. conference, "No matter which angle you approach it from, there's a way to ultimately resolve these issues." My understanding of this is that Teacher will make the best use out of any seemingly bad situation we are in, and the table can always be turned to create an environment to rectify the Fa. Having this thought, I decided to try and rectify the Fa and remove the bad thoughts of every policeman I came into contact with from that point on.
When I was taken to the police station for interrogation, they asked a lot of silly questions, most of which I refused to answer. They used pushing and slapping to try and intimidate me, but it didn't have much affect because coercion cannot change people's hearts. I kept telling them in Chinese why I had come to China, that I practice Falun Dafa and my mother and brother also practice it, that it is practiced and supported all over the world, and that it is really good an beneficial and not what the state-run television says. I felt really sad for most of the guards because they were my age and had no idea what Falun Dafa was or why this persecution was happening. They were just doing their jobs, and didn't want to be doing these kinds of things. But if they didn't they would be persecuted as well. In addition, all of the older guards had families back at home. When they were forced to watch me overnight, they couldn't return home to see their children and spouses, bringing hardship upon themselves and their families as a result. Through this experience, I was able to see more clearly how this persecution is persecuting all Chinese people, whether they practice or support Falun Dafa or not.
Of all the experiences I had while in the detention center, two of them stand out particularly in my mind, and I would like to share them with everyone. The first one was when I wrote in Chinese characters on the wall to rectify the Fa. The second one is the effect that continued truth-clarification had on one of the younger guards. Here is the first one.
During the early morning hours of my last day in the detention center, the guards had fallen asleep and I was awake in my cell. I was thinking about how I could further clarify the truth to the guards after already having talked with them extensively. The effect was good on some of them that had a bit of a kind heart, but appeared to have no effect on the bad ones who enjoyed the persecution. In addition, new guards were constantly moving in and out of the center. I wanted to show them something permanent that they could see every time they came in and out of the center. So I had an idea of writing some righteous words on my cell wall. My first reaction was that the thought was righteous and I should certainly do it. Then I started to think too much and questioned if it would be right or wrong to write the words since after all, it was a wall and people are not supposed to write on walls. After evaluating the thought with Dafa and remembering the righteous actions taken by the Changchun practitioners in playing the Falun Dafa videotape on the Chinese television, my confidence was strengthened and I made up my mind to do it. I used a coin that I had in my pocket to write the Chinese characters, "Falun Dafa hao," "Zhen, Shan, Ren hao," and "Falun Dafa shi zheng Fa." I signed it "yi ge Mei Guo daxuesheng; san yue, ershiqi hao, erlinglinger." (an American college student, March 27, 2002) Upon writing the words, I felt I had done a really righteous thing, and was prepared to face the guards when they awoke.
When the guards woke up and saw the writing, they stood aghast at the characters and kept staring at them over and over again. Over the next two hours, the characters created quite a commotion in the detention center, and a lot of policemen came in to check them out. I used righteous thoughts to keep them at bay so they would not erase the words from the wall, which was successful for several hours. But eventually however, they came into the cell and had a young boy erase the words. I felt really sad for them and told them that they shouldn't have done this because the words were made out of gold. Two of the guards with evil hearts then proceeded to try and take my thumbprints and photograph, and beat me up severely when I refused to comply. It took a lot of courage for me to write the words and face such consequences. Because of this, a lot of the more kindhearted guards no longer showed any hostility towards me and didn't want to have anything to do with the evil persecution after the beating was over.
The second experience I want to share with you is the effect that continued and steadfast truth-clarification has on eliminating bad thoughts about Falun Dafa in people's minds. Out of all the guards that were assigned to watch me, one of them was particularly young and could speak English well. This made talking with him a bit easier. During the first day of my detention, I talked with him a lot and clarified the truth to him about the true nature of Falun Dafa. The effect was ok, but not too great. On the second day, upon being left alone with him, I took a different approach and asked him, "excuse me Sir, my Chinese isn't so good and I was wondering if you could help me translate something. There's this saying in English that used to be very common and a lot of people knew about it. It's 'good will be rewarded with good and evil will be met with evil. Could you translate this for me?'" Upon hearing this, he immediately understood and his facial expression changed a bit. He said that this was also a saying in Chinese that had been around for a long time as well. I then asked him if he had heard of Buddha or Tao before. He said yes. I then told him that Falun Dafa was the Buddha Fa, and if you persecute it, you will meet with bad returns. He seemed to be more receptive to this type of approach. At the end of our conversation, I told him in Chinese, "You know, you have the ability to help me." He didn't understand, so I pointed to the lock on the jail cell door. He looked at the lock for about 5 seconds, and seemed to be considering what I had said. In the end however, he reluctantly refused because he said he would loose his job if he let me free. I didn't blame him for this. From that point on, our relationship was much better. When I returned home, I later learned from my bother and Christine that they had also met with this same guard. My brother clarified the truth to him and it also had a positive effect. When Christine was being deported, it was most likely this guard that escorted her to the plane. When she looked over at him and said a few kind words, she saw tears coming down his face and he told her that he knows this is wrong and he was sorry. I think all of the guards were very fortunate indeed to come into contact with all three of us!
Looking back at my detention and the persecution I received in China, what is most important for me to clearly realize is that most fundamentally, none of these things should have or needed to have taken place to me or any other practitioners, Chinese or Western, that have ever been persecuted in police custody. It is the old forces that require such so-called tests of us and Dafa, not our Teacher. When I returned home from my trip, I realized that I still had a lot of hidden thoughts that accepted the persecution. They mainly manifested themselves during my detention with thoughts like, "It doesn't matter if they beat me because the more persecution I receive, the more I can use it to expose the persecution of Chinese practitioners once I return home." I also had the hidden thought that, "It doesn't matter how long they hold me here. The longer they do, the more awareness will be brought to the persecution of Falun Dafa in China." This thought might seem correct on one level, and indeed I was able to do a lot of truth-clarification when I did return home which had very positive effects on the people and environment here, but I believe most fundamentally this type of thinking doesn't meet the standard of a Fa-rectification disciple. In the article Rationality, Teacher says, "Some practitioners suggest that the best practice of cultivation is to get placed into detention centers or labor camps, or get sentenced to jail in order to validate the Fa. Students, it is not so." "Validating Dafa is truly glorious -- it is to validate Dafa that you come forth. Since you come forth, you should try to succeed in validating the Fa." Our purpose of going to China was not to get arrested. The fundamental magnificence of a Dafa disciple does not lie in their ability to remain solid when faced with the evil persecution, but rather in their ability to step out of and break the arrangements of the old forces and rectify the Fa so as to not receive any persecution in the first place.
Whether a practitioner can remain solid in Dafa or not when faced with the persecution is a truly critical issue. However, regardless of whether or not this can be achieved, the beings that conducted this persecution are still committing huge crimes against the universe and will still have to be held accountable for everything they have done when this matter ends. In other words, the issue of a policeman beating a practitioner is not only the fundamental issue of whether the practitioner will be able to endure it or not and come through steadfastly, but also the fundamental issue of whether that policeman will face destruction in the future. Saving sentient beings does not only depend on our ability of clarifying the truth to them, but also in our ability to be righteous enough so that they will not be able to persecute us to begin with. From my understanding, this is why Teacher always stresses the importance of us giving up our attachments in relation to ending this persecution. Giving up attachments not only determines whether or not we can consummate our own cosmic systems and all beings living in them, but also directly determines how much persecution we will receive from the old forces. This in turn directly determines how many beings will be used by the evil old forces to commit bad deeds and face the consequences in the future. The fewer attachments we have, the fewer excuses the old forces will have to test us, and the less living beings will be put in a potentially dangerous situation due to their hostility towards Dafa. I believe thinking this way is being truly responsible to Dafa and to all sentient beings and is being the most compassionate.
I would like to thank my fellow practitioners, friends, and family for the tremendous support they gave me when I was China. Especially my mom, I am very proud of the way she was able to face this situation with a calm and righteous mind, and not give into fear. I hope everyone else can look at the trip with righteous thoughts and realize that none of these so-called tests are inevitable and none of this persecution is ok. Thank you everyone.

Falun Gong activists claim they are the victims of a political plot after the Government walled off their protest site outside Beijing's liaison office for flowerbeds to be planted there.
Group spokeswoman Hui Yee-han said members found the area by the front entrance of the office in Western district sealed off on Thursday night in a move she claimed was prompted by pressure from Beijing.
A Home Affairs Department spokeswoman rejected the claims, saying the project was simply an environmental improvement measure. She added it was planned with proper consultation of residents and businesses and just happened to be on the site of the protests.
Since the liaison office opened last summer, Falun Gong members have gathered daily to protest against the treatment of practitioners on the mainland. Sixteen members were charged with obstruction in March. "It is a political concern," Ms Hui said. "Police have been receiving complaints from the liaison office for months that we are blocking the entrance, even though the pavement is actually more than 10 metres wide.
"This way they can bar not only Falun Gong members but any others who might want to protest outside the office."
Ms Hui said police had suggested the group move to a spot in front of a police station facing the liaison office's back door, but a spokeswoman denied the force had recommended alternative sites.
[Falun Gong Association] is considering whether it can carry on protesting in front of the office by reducing the number of demonstrators from 20 to three.
Innovative methods to deal with protests have been employed in the past. In 1997, protests against then-premier Li Peng's participation in the handover ceremony at the Convention Centre were drowned out by police playing Beethoven's Fifth Symphony through loudspeakers.

On April 11, Jiang was going to visit a painting gallery and a fine china production plant in the ancient city of Dresden. Practitioners, again, also went. We had a permit to gather in a square downtown, only a five minute walk from the hotel where Jiang was staying. Here together, all of us sent forth righteous thoughts many times. When one practitioner informed everybody that Jiang was about to come out of the hotel, those of us who were not wearing yellow clothes started to walk in the direction of the hotel. I found an elevated spot on top of a few steps to the left of the hotel and climbed up there. Standing high, I had my Dafa banner ready in the pocket of my coat. I thought to myself, there will definitely be an opportunity to display my banner today.
About half an hour before Jiang came out, a group of Chinese special agents came out from the hotel. When they found us standing on the high spot, surrounded by lots of Chinese everywhere, they asked the police to drive us down the spot. The police formed a human wall to push people outward. Many German citizens were present and were voicing their strong disapproval of what was happening. When we were being pushed away to a spot around 100 meters away from the front of the hotel, Jiang came out. A tall practitioner next to me exclaimed: "Falun Dafa is Good!" I quickly held up my little banner. We were so univocal that our voices had a special rhythm to it. The voices came from the deepest parts of our hearts and our souls. Although there were only over twenty of us, our voices sounded like they came from hundreds. I, like many others, shed tears. We repeated the message continuously. I felt that Jiang and those accompanying him would surely be able to feel the earth-shaking power of this righteous voice for justice.
In about an hour we reached MaiBen. We saw many policemen stopping vehicles at a three- way junction, not allowing any cars to enter an area at the front. Sitting in our car, we got prepared: our banners, yellow tops and scarves, and a long white banner with "Jiang Cannot Shirk the Responsibility of Persecuting Falun Gong" on it. A few minutes later, Jiang's procession of vehicles appeared on the road in front of us. The six of us stepped out onto the street. The practitioners besides me were exclaiming "Falun Dafa is Good!" At that moment I was silent, the kind of silence of a soul that was pure and unperturbed. I held the banner tightly in my hands, sending forth powerful righteous thoughts. The fleet of vehicles passed by us at a distance of only half a meter. I could see some German people giving us a thumbs up in the car. Jiang's car and a few big buses that followed him all went past us slowly. At that moment, time seemed frozen. I could feel that Master was watching over us and Gods were protecting us.
When the entire fleet of vehicles passed, two policemen rushed over from the junction, demanding to see our passports. All of us were very calm. A female Swiss practitioner told the policemen that there are thousands of people who practice "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" in China who have lost their jobs and family, and who are subjected to inhumane torture in jails or detention centers, just for going to Tiananmen to say "Falun Dafa is Good." Today, here in a free country, we have to tell Jiang that Falun Dafa is good and practicing Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is not a crime. Her voice was so calm and gentle. Because all of our thoughts were very righteous at that moment, the police just left in their cars. When we returned to our car we shared our experiences over the past few days, and we all realized the importance of maintaining righteous thoughts at every moment, all the time.
We returned to the square at the center of the city. Hearing that Jiang would be going out to a dinner reception soon, we spread out close to the hotel. Fifteen minutes before Jiang came out of the hotel, the police formed a human wall again, pushing us to a road junction even further away from the hotel than in the afternoon. This time we distributed ourselves across the three road entrances at the junction. The moment when Jiang came out of the hotel, we again all started exclaiming "Falun Dafa is Good!" while displaying our banners and holding up yellow flags at the same time. I had been sending forth righteous thoughts silently all this time. One practitioner took out a copy of Eye Witness and turned to the page that had pictures showing the brutal torture Dafa practitioners in China had endured to show the policemen standing in the line. One policeman shed tears on the spot; the majority of them lowered their heads. Disciples were singing the song "Falun Dafa is Good" for a very long time; the eyes of many German people observing nearby were also wet.
After dinner, when we worked out the approximate time Jiang was due to return, the practitioners quickly covered the streets around the hotel. Somehow, I had the feeling that Jiang's convoy would be returning by a certain road. So I selected a spot under a bright street lamp and started sending forth righteous thoughts, while other Dafa practitioners spaced themselves out in teams of twos and threes along the road. No sooner had we settled down, than we heard a roaring sound of motorcycles, followed by a motorcade coming slowly in our direction. Raising my banner up high, I kept sending forth righteous thoughts. That was the fourth time today my banner caught Jiang in the convoy, face to face. Jiang would never have guessed, even in his wildest dreams, that he would run into so many yellow banners, surrounded by the sound of "Falun Dafa is Good" everywhere he went.
That night, all the practitioners retired to a Judo studio nearby. The evening Fa-study session started with a joint reading of "Lunyu" by all practitioners, then followed by readings of the following articles: "The Effects of Righteous Thoughts," "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples," "Path," etc.. We also read through twice Teacher's recent lecture in North America. When we came to the paragraph that mentioned about the effects of sending forth righteous-thoughts to the intended target at close distance, some of us excitedly entered into a serious discussion. A few practitioners said, with some signs of regret, that when they met Jiang the last few days, they could only remember to say "Falun Dafa is Good" but forgot to send forth righteous-thoughts at the same time. Of course, even the echoing voice of "Falun Dafa is Good" would frighten away the evil. However, I will never forget what a western practitioner said to us that evening. "Since our lives were created by the Fa," he said, "today, I will offer everything I have to assimilate with Dafa. It is a rare opportunity for us, to have come to Germany and to participate in the Fa-Rectification. We should continue to send forth our righteous thoughts to eliminate the head of the evil every day, every hour and every minute while we are here." Affected by his righteousness, we went back to the hotel where Jiang stayed that night and continued sending forth righteous thoughts until 5 a.m. in the morning. After splitting up into a few groups, we then headed straight for the two towns, Goslar and Wolfsburg, where Jiang was scheduled to visit that day.
Jiang's original plan was to travel to the next town by train. But, on hearing that we were also at the train station, he quickly changed his plan. From Dresden to Goslar, we had to change trains three times. Because of the long hours the practitioners put in the last few days, almost everybody fell asleep on the train. By about 2.00 p.m. in the afternoon, we arrived at the Goslar train station. We started off with a short parade to the city center, then followed with group practice. Reporters from newspapers and local TV were already there, waiting to interview us. That morning, our peaceful appeal the day before was on the headline of every paper, which also gave a report of Jiang's persecution of Dafa practitioners in China. A curfew was imposed that day and all the shops were forced to close early at 4.00 p.m., which made the town folks extremely unhappy. The news of Jiang's fear of the color yellow had become the talk of the town by the police force and the local folks.
That evening we drove down to Wolfsburg, the famous German city where cars are manufactured, where Jiang was visiting next. As soon as we arrived, practitioners gathered around the hotel Jiang was staying, practicing the exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts, and promoting Dafa. By about 10 p.m., my mind was only thinking about an early night. When I inquired from a few local practitioners where we would be staying that night, I immediately discovered my selfish thoughts: Why couldn't I sit down quietly like the rest, reading and sending forth righteous thoughts? I was ashamed of myself for having this craving for comfort. Having found my attachment, I sat down quietly and started reading again. That night, all other practitioners were happy to stay back and began sending forth righteous thoughts in the direction of the Hotel where Jiang was staying. As the night wore on, the wind was getting colder and it was drizzling as well, but that did not deter the practitioners, who kept sending their righteous thoughts. Later, a few practitioners and I drove into the hotel garage and continued sending forth righteous thoughts at a closer range. At about 8 a.m. in the morning, after watching Jiang's team leave, and the police guards finally gone, we went back to the train station and said goodbye to each other.
During this time in Germany, almost every day we experienced some heart-felt events. Thanks to the compassion of Teacher, for giving us the chance to witness all this, to display the banner in front of Jiang, and to sing out "Falun Dafa is Good" many times from my heart. Also, I felt thankful to Teacher for giving me the honor to write down what I saw, heard and experienced the whole week, so that more fellow practitioners would read about this exciting battle. We were really impressed by the efforts and the preparations the German practitioners put in, organizing interviews with the media and planning travel routes and accommodations. One practitioner said afterwards that the experience he had that week was far more memorable than the last ten years of his practice.

I went to a Senior Citizen's Home in Yukon District, Canada, to teach the Falun Gong exercises. Almost all of the elderly people there were sitting in wheel chairs, except two seniors who were over 90 years old. Another two were almost blind.
With considerable help from the nurses, we practiced the first set of Falun Gong exercises, "Buddha Showing A Thousand Hands." The senior citizens practiced very earnestly. Considering the health condition of these elderly people, we limited the time to within a quarter of an hour.
The nurses helped the two almost blind people to do the hand movements.
When we finished the practice, a blind Native American lady cried out with pleasant surprise, "Look! I can stretch my fingers!" Before, her hands were always in a fist.
From watching the changes in these senior citizens, I felt the mighty power of Falun Dafa. Even though they couldn't see and some were quite old, they still learned the exercises very earnestly, and with the power of this kind of "heart," one blind elderly lady gained testimony and courage.

Righteous Voice
In traditional Chinese medical treatment and various ways of keeping one healthy, people often run into the issue of "spiritual healing" [i.e., healing illnesses by paying attention to one's spiritual consciousness]. This is the same issue as raising one's moral consciousness and the ability for self-restraint and maintaining a good behavior and healthy life style. These are the things that fall into the category of self-cultivation. However, Jiang and his regime deny Falun Gong's healing efficacy out of political motives. In fact, it is the same as denying the traditional Chinese medicine.
News from China
Today, 65 people published solemn declarations. They stated that what they said and did under the evil's influence that were not consistent with Dafa's standards are null and void. From now on, they will make up for the losses they caused to Dafa by redoubling their efforts in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the people and by following Teacher closely in the Fa-rectification process.
Falun Dafa practitioner He Zhenyue from Ziyang City of Sichuan Province was killed in the Detention Center of Chengdu City. He Zhenyue went to Beijing to appeal and was discharged of his public employment and fined 7,000 Yuan RMB [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary of an urban worker]. He went to appeal again in December of the same year and was beaten and tortured cruelly. He was released several days after he went on hunger strike and was forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. On February 3, He and five other practitioners were beaten, abducted at a Dafa material storage site and they have been illegally detained for a long period of time.
(World Journal, Hong Kong, May 2) On May 1 World Labor Day, in Daqing Oil Field in the northeastern and southwestern part of China, and many cities including Shenyang, Fushun and Guiyang, several thousand workers demonstrated in a parade. The people in the parade shouted slogans such as "Down with Corruption, We Need to Survive." They demanded the authorities to improve the poor economic and working conditions of the workers that were laid-off and those that were off-duty. On May 1 in Liaoyang City, about 800 workers demanded the authorities to release the leaders of the workers, Yao Fuxin, Xiao Yunliang, Pang Qingxiang, Wang Zhaoming who were arrested in March this year.

The Chief of the Chinese Police Bureau fabricates slanders at will. There are an enormous number of Falun Gong practitioners around the world who can take turns going to China to appeal, so they don't need to "often" take three or four days off from work. 10,000 Yuan is only about 1,250 American dollars, the practitioners in China uphold the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" with their lives. So why would practitioners abroad, who are in relatively better financial circumstances, begrudge over several thousand dollars? Furthermore, the practitioners in China are deprived of their right to speak, so how would people know about the persecution if the overseas practitioners didn't appeal?
"Double-dealing" characters and Jiang. In stories, "double-dealing" characters are used as a metaphor for real-life people who are shameless. But the double-dealing character is nothing compared to Jiang. The reason Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth is because they want to tear off Jiang's mask, reveal his true face and expose his intentions in order to end the evil and save the people.
I observed another kind of beauty in a group of people who live and cultivate according to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance." They are sincere, kind and enduring. After I dealt more with them, I discovered that as long as we have room in our heart where we can see the sceneries outside, we will find that in fact, beautiful sceneries are everywhere in our life. Bear "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" in our heart and then we will have room to enjoy the sceneries.

On April 25, Falun Gong practitioners in Latvia handed an open letter to the Chinese consulate in Latvia in which they requested the Chinese government to stop its illegal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
On the evening of April 27, Friends of Falun Gong successfully held a not-for-profit concert called "Wonderful Future" at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston to celebrate the spread of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance throughout the world, to thank all the friends who support Falun Gong for their kindness and help, and to showcase the richness and diversity of Chinese culture and the talents of some of the Falun Gong practitioners.
Sharing Experiences and Understandings Amongst Practitioners
Breaking down the restrictions placed on us by our human notions. When Teacher Li told us to send forth righteous thoughts, he gave us all the supernormal capabilities and abilities. It is the old forces that are restricting the use of our supernormal capabilities, including its manifestations in the human world, with all kinds of excuses. These excuses are the attachments practitioners still hold on to and our human notions, which become barriers to the full display of practitioners' supernormal capabilities. The evil forces in this human world will not be extinguished unless we are able to clear up our attachments and notions through sending forth righteous thoughts.
When the passengers got off the bus, an older man came over to me, "I saw Falun Gong pamphlets on the bus." I realized that Teacher Li had given me another opportunity, which I would not miss. I told him right away, "All Falun Gong practitioners are kind-hearted people. They hand out pamphlets to clarify the truth to people. They are being persecuted by the government." The man was taken aback by what I said. He turned and got off the bus. I was glad that I had told him the truth.
An Unbelievable Story: Before I received the notice of "Regarding Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts" published on Clearwisdom Net, every time I sent forth righteous thoughts, I had a long list in my mind and tried to make sure that I didn't miss any evil. One morning when I woke up, I found the notice from Clearwisdom Net and was happy to learn about all the specifics about sending forth righteous thoughts. Who put this beside my bed? Tears came to my eyes when I realized that Teacher Li is always with us.
Bringing the Truth Wherever I Go:
When I was looking after my brother-in-law, who had an operation in the hospital, I clarified the truth about Falun Gong to his over 60-year-old roommate. I told him that it is really good to practice Falun Gong. The elderly man nodded. When his daughter visited and listened to what I said, she said: "I want to practice Falun Gong too!" My brother-in-law later was transferred to another ward and I clarified the truth to his two new roommates. One of them said: "The TV has been broadcasting slander about Falun Gong for the last few years, I really want to know more about Falun Gong. Today when listening to you, I really learned what Falun Gong is."
It has been three years since Xie's family moved away from us. We had been neighbors for decades. I thought that Buddhas offered salvation to those who had predestined relationship, and that I should visit them to clarify to them the truth about Falun Gong. Later I finally found Xie and his sister, and clarified the truth about Falun Gong to them. His sister said: "I will tell my friends that Falun Gong is good! We will not listen to the lies."
I ran into a friend whom I used to dance with and I clarified the truth to him. He changed his attitude towards Dafa. Later on I realized that I could tell the truth to those I did not know after dancing with them. There are dozens of dancing clubs and I could tell the truth to numerous people in a very natural way, instead of speaking to people I do not know on the streets.

A Patient Suffering from Kidney Failure in the Winter of 2000: I was in the late stage of kidney failure. I depended on kidney lavage everyday to survive. In the winter of 2000 I started practicing Falun Gong; all of my indicators gradually improved and are finally back to normal. I feel very fortunate to have found Falun Dafa and am full of appreciation to Dafa.

As hate is hate and peace it must break, the persecution began,
Permeating societal China, reaching throughout all lands
Crossing over oceans and mountains, wave on wave of lies,
Ask yourselves why these practitioners stepped forward to risk their lives?
A global appeal appeared, the world heard loud and clear-
An evil dictator, the resources of his nation and his campaign of terror and fear
Inside China dying for truth, outside, living to speak it,
Falun Dafa is good, join our call, please help us to protect it.
This evil grew feeding on this fear, forcing tears each time
So with our lives, spare moments and savings we countered this terrible crime

Upon opening the book of human history and looking at the chronology of science, we will discover that many great men and scientists have suffered discrimination, persecution, and even death for safeguarding the truth. Our lives have benefited tremendously, and we should give full recognition for the sacrifices these great pioneers made.
Every milestone along the path of mankind's search for the truth glistens with the rational sparkle of these pioneers' perseverance. Galileo (1564-1642), the famous Italian scientist, overthrew the ancient theory that the earth is stationary and advocated the new theory that the earth rotates around the sun (Copernicus' theory). Since Galileo did not give in to the threats issued by the judges of the Inquisition warning him not to adhere to his belief, he was sentenced to life imprisonment under house arrest. Two outstanding physicians, Dr. Serveto of Spain and Dr. Vesalius of Belgium disputed the old theory of blood circulation established by Galen, the physician to the Roman emperor. As a result, Serveto was burned alive, and Vesalius was sentenced to death. In fact, what those great scientists tried to prove is today's common knowledge. Examples such as these are too numerous.
Several days ago, I was chatting with a Chinese university student who came to Singapore on internship. She told me that she knew a lady in her eighties back in China who practiced Falun Gong. This elderly lady came from a well-to-do family. Since 1999, she has gone to Beijing numerous times to proclaim the innocence of Falun Dafa and Master Li. She was jailed, fined and her home was ransacked time and again, yet the old lady saved money by living frugally. She put all her savings into printing truth-clarifying materials. Now she is utterly destitute.
Yet that university student wondered, "Is it worth it for you to be persecuted to such a degree by the ruffians, just because you want to speak the truth as a practitioner?" I replied, "Yes, because the truth is priceless. The cost and sacrifice that we put out to preserve the truth is worthwhile, because our sacrifice will benefit generations to come."
Isn't that so? Despite the danger of being tortured, raped and even killed, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners go to Beijing to appeal and all they want is to tell the Chinese government the truth that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the principle and characteristic of the universe. The Dafa practitioners' ceaseless effort to preserve the truth will create a new and bright future never before unveiled to mankind. Their dedication and sacrifice will forever become their mighty virtue, and leave behind the most brilliant and magnificent page of history.
