(Clearwisdom.net) On February 7, 2002, Salt Lake City, Utah, the host city for 2002 Winter Olympics was in anticipation of the opening ceremony. Over 500 Falun Gong practitioners from Germany, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, and many states across the U.S. held a large parade with the theme "Maintaining the Olympic Spirit" and a press conference calling for an to end the persecution in China.

At 10:00 am, the large parade, rarely seen in Utah, began. Holding various banners, the practitioners proceeded slowly on West 300th Street along with the gentle and melodious Dafa music Jishi and Pudu. The simple, kind and peace-loving people of Utah have a profound understanding of human rights and freedom of belief. When they briefly learned about Falun Gong and the persecution in China, many people accepted the truth-clarifying materials from the practitioners and asked how they could offer more help.

Later, a press conference was held. Five practitioner representatives gave speeches regarding their personal experience, calling on more people to pay attention to the persecution in China and hoping that the Chinese delegation and athletes would have a chance to learn the true facts of Falun Gong while visiting Salt Lake City. Many local radio and TV stations covered the parade and press conference live and learned the true facts of Falun Gong.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AFP) - Some 600 Falun Gong members will hold a 12-hour demonstration around Friday's opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics to draw attention to the plight of the spiritual group in China.

Spokeswoman Ying Lee from Vancouver, British Columbia, said Falun Gong members had come from all across North America, and some even as far way as Taiwan, to put pressure on the Chinese government to stop its crackdown against the group. "The Olympic spirit is of peace and the Falun Gong is based on compassion and tolerance. We want the international community to help us to stop the persecution," she told Agence France-Presse.

President Bush and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan are among the dignitaries set to attend the opening ceremony of the quadrennial winter sporting extravaganza at the Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium later Friday.

"We want to alert public awareness. We are trying to remind the world and the Olympic delegates of what is happening in China," Ying said.

The Chinese government banned the movement in July 1999[...] Human rights groups estimate that hundreds of Falun Gong followers have been sentenced to jail terms and tens of thousands sent to labor camps. The movement says as many as 300 followers have died from brutality in police detention.

Ying also said the group would try and meet with the delegation of Chinese athletes competing at the 19th Winter Games.

Beijing was awarded the right to host the 2008 Summer Games last July, prompting a storm of protest from religious and human rights groups.

China later said its successful Olympic bid justified its tough crackdown on the spiritual movement.

Police officers on horseback patrolled the front of the newly erected Olympic Medals Arena as music blared from a surround-sound system. The high security and soaring music were part of the dress rehearsal as the Winter Olympics get underway in Salt Lake City.

Crowds of people poured into the huge official souvenir store just across the street from the Delta Center, where the figure skating competition will take place. A tourist from Los Angeles thumbed through an Olympic program book and looked at photographs of such gold-medal hopefuls as ice figure skater Michelle Kwan and speed skater Apolo Ohno.

A few blocks away there was a contrasting scene at Salt Lake City's main library. An audio tape recorder played as a dozen Falun Gong devotees went through a series of exercises. Olympic officials have given their approval for the members of this spiritual movement -- which is banned in China -- to stage demonstrations during the international sports competition. Many have traveled to the Olympic site to make their situation international news.

"We're going to have about 500 people to march in parades at the beginning and at the end of the Winter Olympics," said Mei, one of the group's local organizers. "We'll also have a candlelight vigil. We want to demonstrate to the world we are a peaceful group and that China should be condemned for its treatment of our people."

The followers of Falun Gong, who had gathered at Salt Lake City's main library, represented a variety of ethnic groups and cultures. As they went through their movements, they projected an atmosphere of calm and serenity.

Beverly, who works in clerical support at a local office, quickly defended the movement.

"When I hear about what's happening in China and the people being detained and punished for their support of Falun Gong," she said, "It makes me very sad. I have studied the [Falun Dafa] books. They're beautiful, very good and profound. Why are these people being punished for wanting to be good?"

Wang, a native of Shanghai and current graduate student in economics at the University of Utah, has been a follower of Falun Gong since 1996. She looks at the movement as a disciplined pattern of developing the mind, body and spirit.

"Many of my friends practice Falun Gong in China and they are in jail," she said. "Some are put in labor camps. I'm so sad. The Chinese say we are terrorists. We want to show the people [here at the Olympics] that we are good people, not like the Chinese say."

Paying her own way, Le -- who works in the computer software industry in Silicon Valley, flew to Salt Lake City to help prepare for Falun Gong's presence at the Winter Olympics. She handed out copies of the group's official videotape and magazine, Compassion.

"Falun Gong is not a cult," she stated. "There's no membership. Nobody forces you to practice. People come and go as they choose. It's self-improvement with the emphasis on 'self.'

"Before, I was kind of stressed," she continued. "I used to have a temper. Those things are all gone now. My family life is more harmonious and I try to treat people better. I try to think of others before myself."

John Tay, who was born in Singapore, has lived in Salt Lake City for more than 20 years. The Falun Gong devotee champions not only the movement's efforts "to seek peace and calm," but also the efforts to protect itself.

"If someone comes and destroys your property, would you not go back and sue them?" he asked. "If someone is giving you trouble, will you let them continue and do nothing about it? There's nothing wrong with using the law to protect yourself."

Tay says he is not a very public kind of a person, but he plans to participate in the demonstrations at the Winter Olympics.

"Falun Gong has helped me to be a better person," he said. "I want to let other people to know about it and maybe it can help them."

Tired of watching themselves be insulted, abused, in a word, tarnished, Montreal [practitioners] of Falun Gong have filed a defamation lawsuit for nearly 15 million dollars against a Chinese journal of the metropolis, La Presse chinoise

The suit was filed in December and will be heard on May 9^th. The petitioners, numbering 126, are claiming $100,000 each for damages. Three temporary injunctions have already been granted.

The first, in December, prohibited the newspaper from publishing words [that are] "unreasonable against Falun Gong practitioners," Michael Bergman, the lawyer for the complainants explained yesterday. The second, the 7^th of January, renewed the ban. One month later, that is, this past Thursday, the court took charge again to specify, among other things, restrictions prohibiting the newspaper from making use of terms such as "evil", "hate", "deviant", "perverted practices" or "enemies of the State", in reference to Falun Gong adherents.

Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, combines [Master Li's teaching], physical exercises and meditation. 100 million members strong on the planet, according to its own estimates, the movement has been banned in China since 1999. Since then, its adherents have been unceasingly persecuted, hundreds having lost their lives in custody, they say. Thousands of others have been sent, without trial, to "re-education through forced labor" camps. China is regularly condemned by various organisations such as Human Rights Watch and the United Nations for its non-respect of human rights.

Nonetheless, the defence counts on contesting the lawsuit. "The comments were reasonable under the circumstances", the lawyer for the newspaper, Aram Oulousian, said yesterday. It was not possible to talk to the publisher, Crescent Chau, absent until Monday.

In other respects, to struggle against this defamation and the more general misunderstanding of this movement, a Falun Gong adherent has launched an information publicity campaign in the metro. Fifteen posters are put up in different stations, inviting the curious to visit the movement's web site.

"I would like to share the beauty and the goodness of Falun Gong with the Quebec people", explained the instigator of the campaign, Cheng. She said she paid for the posters from her own pocket, at a price of $4,000. It was not possible to verify this information, as Metro Media Plus, responsible for the placement of media in the metro, judges it confidential.

Be that as it may, Mrs. Cheng does not make a cent from the campaign. Zhuan Falun, the bible of the movement, written by its founder Master Li Hongzhi, prohibits anyone teaching or sharing the practice with someone from obtaining any kind of financial benefit. "Our goal is to do good", the young lady summed up.

Beijing Mayor Liu Qi, has been slapped with a lawsuit by six Falun Gong members, including an Australian, claiming they were physically abused during a protest in the Chinese capital.

Sherry Zhang, a spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Information Centre in northern California, says the papers, handed down by a US district court, were served to Mr. Liu shortly before he boarded a flight to Salt Lake City.

Mr Liu is also president of the Beijing Organising Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG).

Ms Zhang says the civil lawsuit was filed against Mr. Liu by six Falun Gong members from Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Sweden and the United States.

Ms Zhang says the papers charged Mr. Liu with "torture, cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment, arbitrary detention, crimes against humanity and interference with freedom of religion and belief."

However, the Torture Victims Protection Act and the Alien Tort Claims Act gives US courts jurisdiction over acts of torture committed outside the country.

However, a suit can only proceed if defendants are served with legal papers while in the United States.

On January 28, 2002, Mr. Martin Barnes, the Mayor of the City of Paterson, the third largest city in New Jersey signed a proclamation declaring the week of January 28 to February 3, 2002 as "Falun Dafa Week" in the City of Paterson. He read out the proclamation in the celebration ceremony of Passaic County "Falun Dafa Week".

On January 16, 2002, Mayor Fred Criscitelli of Borough of Hawthorne signed a proclamation declaring the week of January 28 to February 3, 2002 as "Falun Dafa Week" in the Borough of Hawthorne. He also read out the proclamation in the celebration ceremony of Passaic County "Falun Dafa Week".

Dafa practitioners from Yantai City, Shandong Province have proposed to welcome "Yantai City Falun Dafa Day" on February 12 by sending forth righteous thoughts. The time for this activity will be on the Chinese New Year's Eve, February 11^th at 9,10,11, and 12pm, Beijing time. Falun Dafa practitioners in Jilin City have proposed establishing "Falun Dafa Day in Jilin City" on February 9, 2002. On this day, all practitioners please send forth the most powerful and purest righteous thoughts at 5:00am, 6:00am, 7:00am, 12:00pm, 8:00pm, 9:00pm and 10:00pm to completely eliminate the evil forces that are sabotaging Dafa in the Jilin area, China and the Universe.

Falun Dafa practitioners in Hulan City of Heilongjiang Province have proposed February 12 of every year, beginning with the 2002 Spring Festival, as "Falun Dafa Day in Hulan City". All practitioners please send forth the purest and most powerful righteous thoughts to completely eliminate all the evil forces in the Universe that are sabotaging Dafa.

On November 20^th, I was in Tiananmen Square. I went to help my fellow practitioners. I went to help the deceived innocent Chinese people and I also went to quench a buried notion that conquering my fear and completing this heroic mission would surely raise my self cultivation up a huge step. I felt if I could really do something great for Dafa, then I could catch up and make up for my lack of diligence during the past months of Fa-rectification.

I have been home for two months now and I find my cultivation state is right back to where it was before I left.

I still have fear and create all kinds of excuses for not doing things for the Fa-rectification in my daily life. In my own environment I can safely go out to talk to people and help change their attitudes, yet do I? I can freely go and distribute flyers in Chinatown but have I taken those steps? How many times do I give in to the evil here in the comfort of my everyday life? How many times do I wake up in the morning and then hit the snooze button and fall back asleep rather than getting up to study the Fa right then and there? How many times do I say, "Tomorrow I will go to Chinatown and give out flyers?"

When I got off the plane from Tiananmen Square I was greeted by many of my fellow practitioners. Some female practitioners gave me beautiful bouquets of flowers with tears in their eyes. These same practitioners are the ones who stood outside in Chinatown every day for the last year passing out flyers regardless of rain, snow, heat or cold. I felt so unworthy to receive flowers from these practitioners for whom I had so much respect because of their solid dedication and determined hearts.

After Master's Florida lecture I realized that I had lost a lot of time and that I could never make up for my lack of Fa study and the things I had slacked off on. I also realized I was attached to time. I felt that time was running out so I looked around for big things to do for the Fa and also for my own selfish attachment of reaching consummation. The fact is, the reason I felt I was running out of time was because I had wasted so much time not being diligent in my everyday cultivation in the first place. I learned that cultivation is a process and it is the process of cultivation that makes a mature and tempered Fa-rectification disciple. My pursuit of great achievements did not make up for my lack of solid steps in my cultivation.

Every day I am met with serious and sacred tests. But do I treat these tests as seriously and as sacred as going to Tiananmen Square? It is the strengthening of my righteous thoughts that are most important. However, do I constantly and persistently look inside at every thought I have to see if it is righteous or not? When I feel lazy or fearful do I catch those demons and eliminate them and step forward with wisdom and rationality? Do I treat the awareness of my everyday thoughts as seriously, or even more so as if I were getting ready to walk into Tiananmen Square? These thoughts are what will make or break my cultivation and help or hinder Master with Fa-rectification. I have learned that I must treat the smallest things in my everyday cultivation and every thought in my everyday life with the highest importance and the most seriousness. Then as I study the Fa anything I choose to do for the Fa, big or small, will be done by a responsible, mature and tempered Dafa disciple. Otherwise I may invite a lot of trouble and may seriously damage the Fa's reputation.

I have also learned that when I base any decision on wanting to conquer fear I am using an ordinary human mentality plagued by demons to sway me back and forth. If I decide to go I will worry if I am doing the right thing. If I decide to stay I will worry if I have made the right decision to stay. Either way it is a selfish motivation that could potentially be used by the evil to cause damage to the Fa. I must use my righteous thoughts to eliminate the fear and base all my decisions on my understanding of the Fa.

I am determined to shoulder my responsibilities during the remaining Fa-rectification, no matter how long it takes, so I can be worthy of being called a mature and tempered Fa rectification disciple and help Master with all my ability right to the very end.

(Clearwisdom.net) The old forces had made destructive arrangements to use evil beings in their tests of Dafa and Dafa practitioners; all these are arrangements which Master refutes and disregards, and of course, so do Dafa practitioners.

I have noticed a change recently in the way the persecution against Dafa is carried out, a change that deserves notice. The old cosmic forces, after they used all the state apparatus to carry out the persecution on such a large scale, realized they have failed to destroy the rock-solid, firm determination of Dafa practitioners. These forces now try to use daily trifles to wear out the will of Dafa practitioners. For example, all of a sudden, I started to feel a sharp pain in my left leg during meditation several days ago, which has seldom occurred ever since I started cultivation practice. The feeling of lightness I experienced after taking up cultivation also seems to have vanished, and I always feel tired and uncomfortable. One day my husband suddenly had excruciating pains in both sides of his chest, but when I accompanied him to hospital for a checkup, nothing was found wrong. My cousin who had always been in good health suddenly got seriously sick and was hospitalized, and I had to spend a lot of time taking care of her. There are other incidents to tell. At the beginning of all these strange occurrences I felt rather anxious that all these things I had to deal with interfered with my Fa-study, my exercise practice and Fa-rectification work. One day, however, I suddenly remembered Master's words, "That's why I said before that I turned the tables and made use of the old forces' arrangements." "They thought their arrangement was ingenious, but it was actually within my control." ("Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference," July 21, 2001) I immediately took myself out of this harmful state. I realized that the old forces used evil beings to persecute us, however Master has in turn made use of these arrangements to provide opportunities for Dafa practitioners to establish their mighty virtue, to spread the Fa and to save people, this being the most effective and wisest denial. Except for those evil things such as illegal arrests, unlawful detention, sentencing, abuse and brutal tortures, all things that we should firmly eliminate with righteous thoughts, we could make use of all other old forces' arrangements to rectify the Fa, to clarify the truth to offer salvation to people and to steel our will. Isn't this denial with wisdom the arrangements made by the old forces? Those who seem to bring trouble to us are the very people with pre-destined relationship that need to be saved.

After I came to such an understanding I started to Hongfa [introduce the Fa] to my ill cousin, her husband, their parents and relatives, as well as her friends and classmates who came to visit her in the hospital during the time I took care of my cousin. I distributed CDs of the truth of Falun Dafa, and the hospital ward became a good place for Hongfa. After her surgery, my husband and I invited the doctors and nurses to have dinner with us, to show our appreciation, which also turned into a Hongfa activity. The president of the hospital even expressed his sympathy towards Dafa and voiced his condemnation of the evil persecution. A few days later I took some CDs about the truth of Falun Gong to give to the hospital president and to the doctors. They all gladly accepted.

A few days later another of my cousin's relatives visited her again. As soon as she walked into the ward she said to me, "I've just got back the CD you gave me. As soon as I took it to work that day, the manager of our department store snatched it up straight away, and after she watched it, she lent it to someone else. I haven't even had a chance to watch it." She then told me that all of those who watched the CD said it was very good. She expressed her firm support for Dafa. My cousin's husband told me that he was shocked by the brutal persecution cases after watching the CD.

My aunt and her family were moved by my kindness towards my cousin. For the first time she expressed her understanding and support to Dafa practitioners, and she said she would assist me when I will clarify the truth to others.

When my cousin was about to be discharged from the hospital I received a long distance telephone call from my younger sister, saying that her classmate, who lives in the same city as mine, was going to get married and planned to hold a get-together with their classmates. I realized that another hongfa opportunity was on the way. I prepared the CDs and truth-clarifying materials and went to this gathering with my sister where I distributed the materials to her classmates. At the wedding, I helped in every way I could and earned more respect from everyone present. At the farewell dinner, a classmate, who was a firm atheist only the evening before, proposed a toast and said, "It's God who brought us together..." Later on, he said to me, " I watched the CD with great attention." I was moved by the mighty power of the Buddha Fa. I believe that these people will not be easily deceived any more, and those who had pre-destined relationships may even attain the Fa.

Dafa practitioners have abilities and wisdom. As for those arrangements by the old forces to persecute us, we can make use of them; turn them to our advantage and to do what we should do. If the old forces want to keep us "busy," we in turn should keep busy spreading the Fa and clarifying the truth. If they want us to feel sleepy, to feel tired or to feel pain, we can steel our rock-solid, indestructible will through our winning fight with those demonic interferences. If they bring conflicts around us, it provides a good opportunity for us to look inside and to improve our Xinxing. If they provide us a comfortable environment in order to wear out our will to cultivate, we can use this comfortable environment to study the Fa, to practice more and to write experiences and righteous articles to break down the obstacles that are preventing people from attaining the Fa. I truly believe that, when all the arrangements by the old forces become our good opportunities for Fa-rectification, the evils will be completely eliminated. "Dafa is indestructible." (Master's words) So are Dafa practitioners!

February 4^th, 2002 is Henan Province Falun Dafa Day. On the evening of February 3, in the brisk and cold wind, practitioners posted banners reading, "Falun Dafa is Good" on trees on both sides of large streets and small roads. Some banners were hung on crossroads' bridges and on some buildings. The banners reading, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Fa," were hung along roadsides. Practitioners' fearless and unselfish, great feats effectively suffocated the evil and touched every person's heart.

On December 15, 2001, Jiujiang City's Lushan District Court officers illegally sentenced practitioners who already had been detained over nine months. Practitioners Zhang Shu and Lu Yiming were sentenced to seven-and-a-half years of imprisonment. Practitioners Wu Zhouyun and Liu Limo were sentenced to seven years and four years of imprisonment, respectively. Prior to being sentenced, these four practitioners had been repeatedly persecuted. Practitioner Mr. Zhang Shu's home was ransacked multiple times. He and his wife were expelled from their factory. His daughter had to go to work to earn a living. Policemen from Xiamen City's Police Department confiscated the couple's only deposit of 10,000 Yuan or more [500 Yuan is average monthly income in urban China]. His wife is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. Practitioner Mr. Lu Yiming's family members were out of work. They could not financially support him. Mr. Wu Zhouyun's wife was a practitioner too, who had to live in exile during the last year. No one took care of their 10- year-old daughter, who led a difficult life. Practitioner Liu Limo formerly had a happy family. Under the evil's menace and horror, her husband divorced her. Their less than 10- year- old daughter was deprived of their maternal love. Mrs. Liu Limo was tortured with all kinds of means during her detention period, which led to paralysis of her legs. She was persecuted to her last gasp of breath. Policemen ordered her family to take her home, as they feared being held responsible for her impending death during the detention term. Shortly after her release, Mrs. Liu Limo recovered, without receiving any treatment. And yet, the judiciary authorities sentenced her to four years of imprisonment.

Mr. Lanhu, his mother and his fiancé, all Falun Dafa practitioners from the Lushan District, were detained as they clarified the truth to the public. All their neighbors were sympathetic because they knew all these practitioners were kind-hearted people.

The detention term of Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Mingli, who was illegally detained in Changchun City's Weizigou Forced Labor Camp, was extended by two months without giving any valid reason.

The criminals were ordered to monitor practitioners in Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Two or three criminals monitored one Dafa practitioner. The practitioners were often abused and beaten. Two criminals per practitioner monitored their visits with relatives on visitation day.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mrs. Xa Pinhua who had to live in exile happened to meet with a local policeman when she recently went to visit another practitioner in a labor camp. She has been sent to a forced labor camp now.

Falun Dafa Practitioners Zeng Xiaocheng and Lin Shihua who were bailed out to receive medical treatment were detained again.

Sisters Wan Gufen and Wan Gurong, Falun Dafa practitioners from Lianglukou Town were detained on their way to Beijing to rectify the Fa after they were released from the Deyang City's brainwashing class. They were escorted back. Maybe they were illegally put into a forced labor camp, but we don't know for sure.

Before July 20, 2001, practitioner Sun Kelin from Sunjiahui Village, Renzhao Town, Qingdao Pingdu City, and practitioner Zhao Yugong from Dongzhaojiaguan Village went to appeal in Beijing and were illegally detained in Pingdu City. They were maltreated with all kinds of abuses and inhumanly persecuted. They are not released until now.

[Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Arrest of More Than 20 Dafa Practitioners

On November 20, 2001 practitioners from the three villages of Jiudian, Liangmu and Yunshan got together to share experiences, which was reported to the police. Over 20 practitioners were unlawfully arrested and detained at Pingdu City's Chengguan Police Station. Detailed information is not yet available.

We hope people with a sense of justice from all walks of life pay attention to this issue. All practitioners who get this information, please, send forth righteous thoughts to help them.

On November 21, 2001 three Dafa practitioners, Wang Hongyan, Wang Caixiang and Jiang Chuiping from Dongwangfuzhuang Village, Nanchun Town of Pingdu City, Shandong Province were arrested when they were posting Dafa truth-clarifying flyers. Policemen would not release them unless each practitioner handed over 5,000 Yuan. Because Wang Hongyan's husband who is also a practitioner refused the extortion, on the afternoon of November 24, seven policemen went to his home and took away their tractor. Afterwards, policemen still did not release his wife. The situation about Wang Caixiang and Jiang Chuiping, a husband and wife couple, is unknown.

A dozen kidnapped Falun Dafa practitioners are illegally detained at the Jiagedaqi Detention Center in the Daxinganling Area of Heilongjiang Province. Some practitioners have been detained for more than four months. On January 28, 2002 these determined Dafa practitioners launched a hunger strike, which has already lasted nine days. Their current situation is very critical. Several abusive officers attempt to cover up the fact and have now ordered a news blackout.

Policemen in the female division deprived determined Falun Dafa practitioners of sleep for 10 to 15 days while forcing them to work overtime during the day. If those practitioners did not comply, policemen then handcuffed their hands on the back, hung them up in the air by the handcuffs, and instigated drug addicts to beat them. Yang Rui was hung up for six days. Qiang Weixiu was hung up for seven days. But these determined Dafa practitioners did not give up their belief. Their hands recovered about two months later. Wang Lianzhen's hands have not yet recovered, though three months have passed after she was abused during that torture. She cannot take care of herself now.

Whenever new Falun Dafa practitioners are kidnapped and brought to the labor camp, policemen will take them to see Wang Lianzhen and threatened them, "If you do not give up your belief, this is your fate!"

Practitioner Zhang Yuxia formerly was a policewoman in Gansu Province's No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. Because she firmly is committed to her belief and went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong three times, at the beginning of 2000 she was expelled from her work and illegally sent to a forced labor camp as an inmate. She was released after more than a year's forced labor. Afterwards, she was abducted and detained again at Lanzhou City's Xiguoyuan Detention Center for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. To protest the illegal detention, Zhang Yuxia did not drink water or eat food for 12 days. She was sent back home when her life was in extreme danger. One week later, January 18, 2002, criminal enforcers from the Anning Police Department of Lanzhou City arrested her again and illegally put her into Gansu Province's No. 1 Forced Labor Camp, called the Pingantai Forced Labor Camp.

The Chongqing Youth Newspaper reported that Dafa practitioners Zhang Yinan and his wife Tan Li from Rongchang County of Chongqing City were arrested in November 2001. Policemen confiscated a Lianxiang notebook computer, a Lianxiang laser multifunctional printer, more than 2,600 Dafa truth-clarifying flyers, some of Teacher's photos, and books and tapes from their home. Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Yinan is the owner of a private company, the Tianhui Aquatic Breeding Company of Rongchang County in Chongqing City. The couple started practicing Falun Gong in late 1996.

Around 2 p.m. on October 21, 2001 a policeman found a female Falun Dafa practitioner reading a Dafa book on the train from Baicheng to Songyuan. The policeman immediately took her away and illegally searched her. Later, two other male Falun Dafa practitioners on the same train were also arrested and body-searched. Among them, one practitioner was Yang Weihua from Fuyu County. The other two practitioners' names were unknown. Abusive policemen from Songyuan City's Police Department beat up practitioner Yang Weihua and confiscated 6,500 Yuan in cash, and also his cell phone and pager. Now these Falun Dafa practitioners are illegally detained at Fuyu County's Detention Center. They launched a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Director Liu Liguo and other enforcers force-fed them many times. They are still being tortured in the detention center.

At around 6 p.m. on January 11, 2002, more than 20 policemen in over ten police cars surrounded a residency in Kuli Village of Changshan Town in Qianguo County, Jilin Province. They kidnapped over ten Falun Dafa practitioners, including Zhang Keshan, Jiang Baoming and Jiang Baoming's wife, Mrs. Tang, who were sharing cultivation experiences. It was said that some practitioners were directly sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City and some were sent to the Baicheng Forced Labor Camp. The details are unclear.

From January 28, 2002, officers from the "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and the police department of Da'an City began a citywide persecution of Dafa practitioners. They forced those who had practiced Falun Gong to write the "guarantee statements" to renounce their belief. The police claimed, "Don't expect to have a good Spring Festival if you don't write the guarantee statements." [These statements declare that practitioners are sorry they ever practiced Falun Dafa, are guaranteeing never to go to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, will not associate with other Dafa practitioners and will renounce their belief in Dafa].

Police enforcers ransacked Dafa practitioners' homes and carried out the so-called "Four Ones" policy: if one Dafa book, one tape, one disc, one Dafa truth-clarifying flyer or a piece of paper related to Falun Dafa was found at his home, the practitioner would be detained for one month. If he refused to write a "guarantee statement," he would be sentenced to imprisonment. The police even forcibly searched any passengers carrying a black plastic bag in streets. As the Chinese Spring Festival is approaching, Da'an City is in a fearful uproar.

Up until February 3, 2002, it was known that policemen had illegally arrested nine Dafa practitioners including a 74-year-old woman. A female practitioner was kidnapped after she just said, "What's wrong with practicing Falun Gong?" to the police who were ransacking her home.

All are preparing for a happy Chinese Spring Festival, while the kind-hearted Dafa practitioners were forced to leave their homes and separate from their families. They lead a difficult life, and some even were tortured to death.

Practitioner Mrs. Shi Yinghua, a highly ranked teacher in Jinshantun, Yichun City, was persecuted because she persisted in cultivating Dafa. Officers from the local "610 Office" and the police department ordered Gao Fu, her husband, to torture her. Gao Fu often cursed and beat Mrs. Shi Yinghua. He knocked her head into the wall by grabbing her by the hair, and brutally hit her forehead with a pair of pliers. He even tried to force her to hang herself. Policemen arrested her and sent her to a detention center where they brutally tortured her. They tied her arms onto a cross and pried her teeth open with a metal rod. Dafa Practitioner Mrs. Shi Yinghua determinedly resisted the persecution. Later, policemen sent her to a mental hospital and continued to torture her there. After she was released from the mental hospital she was not allowed to teach. Mrs. Shi Yinghua often says to other practitioners, "Dafa bestowed my life. How can I give up cultivation!"?

In November 2001 officers from local "610 Office" and police department tried to force the Dafa practitioners to write the "guarantee statements." Mrs. Shi Yinghua enlightened that it was wrong to write such a statement. She decided to go to Beijing to rectify the Fa. Unfortunately, she was arrested and escorted back at the Shanhaiguan Railway Station. On the way back, the handcuffs cut her wrists to the bone and her hands were bleeding. Afterwards, the local police authorities again sent her into mental hospital for further torture.

Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Youcai, male, 51 years old, is from Anyue County of Sichuan Province. Mr. Chen was forced to live in exile because he insisted on practicing Falun Dafa. Around December 19, 2001, officers from Anyue County's Police Department, the National Security Brigade and the Police Group arrested him at his relative's home. The enforcers confiscated 4,200 Yuan cash from him. Mr. Chen's relative who ran a business in the county is not a Dafa practitioner. But the corrupt police officers illegally searched his home successively four times anyway and confiscated 24,000 Yuan cash that he planned to use buy merchandise.

After being detained for one night at the police department, Mr. Chen Youcai, a very strong man, was unable to walk. We do not know how these abusive policemen tortured him. They refuse permission for anyone to visit him. Until now, neither his whereabouts nor his life situation is known.

Since January 10, 2002, personnel from the Aimin Police Department of Mudanjiang City have illegally and relentlessly arrested over 30 Falun Dafa practitioners, destroyed 12 Dafa truth-clarifying material centers, and severely damaged some printing equipment. At present, most of the arrested practitioners are detained on the 3^rd floor of the Aimin Police Department and Huanghua Police Station. They are enduring brutal tortures everyday. After the evil deeds committed by Qiao Ping and Chen Liang had been exposed, they persecuted practitioners even more relentlessly. For revenge, they detained practitioners at the police department and brutally tortured them. They tied practitioners to the "Tiger Bench," (see illustration on http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html), tied the practitioner's hands with rope and forcefully and viciously pulled their hands backward. They tied Dafa practitioner's feet with iron chains and forcefully pulled the feet forward, while one policeman stomped on the practitioner's knees with leather boots. Some practitioners were even tightly tied with a thin nylon cord from the abdomen to the neck while being tied to the "Tiger Bench." They even covered practitioner's head with plastics bags, sometimes even with four bags, in order to suffocate the practitioners. For example, policeman Chen Liang and some of his cronies tied female Dafa practitioner Cao Yingchun on the metal chair for three days. They didn't allow her to sleep and beat her so badly that her chest was injured. She is now released for medical treatment. The above-mentioned are just a few torture methods that the policemen used.

In the summer of 2000, Dafa practitioner Tian Haitao from Fujin City went to Beijing to validate the Fa. He was later sentenced to one year of forced labor and sent to the Xigemu Forced Labor Camp in Jiamusi City. He was detained for another three months after the detention term had expired and was released in September 2001. On November 21, 2001, he made a phone call from his relative's home to his home in Fujin City, saying that he would be arriving home in a couple of days. However, it has been over two months since he made the call and there is no information of his whereabouts. His family members are very worried.

Li Qingwen, male, is a former deputy chief of the Accounting Division of Hegang City's Construction Bank. After July 20, 1999, his work unit fired him because of his determination to practice Dafa. As the New Year's Day was approaching, being afraid that he would go to Beijing to appeal, police enforcers arrested him and sent him to the No.2 Detention Center.

At 4:30pm on January 4, 2002, under the instruction of female Director Zhao from the City's Police Department who is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, three officers from the Shengli Police Station of the Xiangyang Police Department forcibly took female practitioner Liu Xia from the "Big World" mall to the Shengli Police Station. Practitioner Liu Xia was tortured to unconsciousness there. They then sent this practitioner to the Xuanmei Hospital. The hospital admissions officers refused to accept her. Later, they sent her to the People's Hospital. On the afternoon of the next day, they put her into the No.2 Detention Center without any warrant. In the meantime, they also detained her sister and niece for over 30 hours. They even ransacked her relative's home.

Since July 20, 1999, most of these people have been participating in arresting and persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. Among them, policeman Zhang Lin from the Long'an Police Station handled almost all cases as well as arresting almost all the now detained Dafa practitioners. He has now been promoted to the position of director. He detained many practitioners, sent them to forced labor camps and also extorted money from practitioners and their family members. This is the same man who handled both cases of practitioners Li Xiaorong and his wife. Mr. Li Xiaorong was tortured to death and his wife was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She is still detained at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center though her term expired more than a month ago. Their almost 15 year-old son is left at home alone.

As practitioners in China face tremendous pressure to give up their beliefs under the Chinese regime's brutal persecution, there are those who have given in and signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa. However, many of these people deeply regret doing so after they are released from detention and labor camps. "Solemn declarations" are the public statements made by such practitioners, often at great risk to their personal safety, to declare to the world that the documents they signed under duress are null and void and that they will continue to practice Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) It has been two years since Jiang started the persecution of Falun Gong and the effect among the people is revealed throughout after-dinner conversations of a group of local residents.

Reply: From a person who looked like a Party member - this situation is like a fight between a sincere farmer and an armed police officer. Who do you think is right? Of course it's the farmer and the police are bullying the farmer. Jiang has Party power, military power and political power and has armed policemen and controls the media to defame Falun Gong. However, not one Falun Gong practitioner even owns a pocket knife and when Jiang tries to forcefully oppress them like this, it's obvious that Jiang is in the wrong.

Question: Jiang has three powers - party, military and political. If Falun Gong advocates improving morally and practicing "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," then why does Jiang still want to persecute them?

Reply: Jiang and his associates also know that there's nothing wrong with "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance"." However, they are all corrupt and if they follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," they can't live off the tainted money nor can they live immorally. They are unable to do it so they forbid others to follow these principles too. That's why they are persecuting Falun Gong. Sooner or later Falun Gong's name will be vindicated.

Jiang Zemin's relentless and irrational persecution has made people think deeply and awaken.

(Clearwisdom.net) Two Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zheng and Ms. Chen [Note: names to prevent further persecution] from a certain city were arrested by two police officers while they were putting up truth-clarifying materials. They were brought to the local police station. At that time there was another police officer in the room. The two police officers started to interrogate Ms. Zheng but they were unsuccessful at getting any information so they walked out.

Ms. Zheng used this opportunity to take out a stack of truth-clarifying materials, and she said to the third policeman who was still in the room, "I think out of all three of you, you look the kindest. Please help us take these out of the police station. These materials were printed from the little money practitioners have saved. Our aim is for people to know that Jiang has been using state machinery to persecute Falun Gong. He has used propaganda to deceive the whole nation, such as the made up self-immolation incident. How cruel! We simply want people to know the truth behind the persecution and have a correct understanding towards Falun Gong so that you will have a good future and will not be destroyed when the Fa rectifies the human world. We have paid a high price and are willing to give our lives to save people. Please call my husband so that he can remove all the printed materials from our home."

Ms. Zheng's righteous thoughts moved this policeman. He said sincerely, "We have associated with Falun Gong practitioners for more than two years and we know that you are all truly good people. We have also read many Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. We know the truth of the matter and we know what Falun Gong truly is. I have also read Zhuan Falun cover-to-cover one time, which we had confiscated. I will definitely do you this favour." Ms. Zheng was moved to tears and thought to herself, "Another life has been saved."

Ms. Zheng and Ms. Chen were taken away and this police officer immediately telephoned Ms. Zheng's home. Ms. Zheng's husband quickly removed all the materials and until now he still does not know who phoned him.

After putting down the phone, this policeman thought, "What am I going to do with all these materials that Ms. Zheng left over?" When he arrived home in the evening, he put up the leaflets all over his building. He is not a Dafa practitioner but his actions are admirable; he is wearing the police uniform and saving sentient beings. This is because his pure human nature and conscience has been awakened. Those police who are still persecuting practitioners we say this to you, "Please do not be deceived any longer. If you do not save people, at least do not harm good people."

(Clearwisdom.net) The Masanjia Forced Labor Camp tortures and persecutes all the Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained there. Whenever a Dafa practitioner is brought in, he or she is first detained in an empty room by guards who then arrange for former Dafa practitioners, who have renounced their belief under torture, to jointly attack the practitioner. During that period, the practitioner is not allowed to return to his or her room, to contact any other practitioner, or to read Dafa books and practice Dafa exercises.

The command most often issued by guards and former practitioners is, "Do not speak!" From early morning when practitioners get up to late evening when they go to bed, except for laboring work, having meals, a half hour break at noon, and a time slot for going to the restroom, practitioners are only allowed to sit on a small, twenty centimeter wide stool and are not permitted to stand up and look out the windows.

In the morning, 3 to 5 minutes is allowed for using the restroom, which includes washing and brushing teeth. If the time is exceeded, guards utilize the former practitioners to attack and abuse the practitioner. Practitioners are not allowed to take a bath for 12 months.

Presently, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp forces Dafa practitioners to make products that contain harmful substances. Dafa practitioners unknowingly inhale this substance that results in persistant coughs. Practitioners have to work from 7 a.m to 8 p.m. or 12 to 13 hours a day.

Dafa practitioner Wang Ling refused to listen to the slandering propaganda but was forced to do so against her will. She didn't yield to them and held a hunger strike. Because of that, in December 2001, she was cuffed for more than 20 days and confined in a solitary cell for 6 days. She was not allowed to sleep and was also tortured by being exposed to a freezing cold environment.

On January 15, 2001, Dafa practitioner Xu Lanfang was confined in a solitary cell because she reprimanded the former practitioners. She was not allowed to sleep and was tortured by being forced outdoors in freezing temperatures for a lengthy period of time. Her term was due to expire on October 18, 2001, but she was further detained with various excuses. Her term was extended, and she is now set for release in September 2002.

Dafa practitioner Liu Xiuying wrote a letter to the leaders of her company, asking for a meeting with them to explain her situation. Liu was arrested at the Shengyang City railway station when she went to visit her younger sister. She was illegally sentenced to a two-year forced reeducation through labor with the charge of "Intention to go to Beijing". However, she never received any response even though she has written many letters during the year.

On January 20, 2002, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp forced Dafa practitioners to listen to the reports of some former practitioners. Dafa practitioners resisted but were blocked in the room by guards. The resulting mental anguish caused Dafa practitioner Li Laixiu's whole body to go into spasms. In addition Dafa practitioner Zhang Fenhui became so dizzy and sick that he was bedridden.

The guards strictly control Dafa practitioners' communication by separating them. Practitioners live in different rooms and are never allowed to meet with each other.

The above are only a few examples of the persecutions suffered by Dafa practitioners. Since the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp has long been illegally detaining Dafa practitioners for extended terms and also strictly controls their meetings with family members, many facts of their persecution have never before been revealed. A practitioner told her family members, "It is hard for people to image the persecution we suffered here." Presently, true practitioners detained at the labor camp suffer tremendously everyday. We hope all kind-hearted people in the world pay attention to the situation at Masanjia and extend your support to the detained practitioners. Your upholding justice is a powerful strike at the evil forces and the most effective means of stopping the persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) In July 2000, my mother and I walked into Tiananmen Square for the purpose of Fa rectification and to clarify the truth of the universe. Upon arrival, we saw that policemen were placed all around the square, and several police vans were patrolling it. We began to practice Falun Dafa exercises under the national flag on the square. In less than a minute, the plain-clothed policemen pushed us into a van and we were taken to the Front Gate Police Station, 2^nd Department.

The police detained us in a single cell along with other Falun Dafa practitioners. Those bad officers would curse loudly, and kick the handcuffed practitioners all the time. The next morning another group of Falun Dafa practitioners was arrested, and forcibly brought to the same location, where they too were illegally detained with the rest of us. When they first arrived, the vicious police slapped their faces one by one without any regard to whether they were seniors or young children.

We started to recite "Hong Yin" and Teacher's articles in unison. They were shocked by the power of strong righteous thoughts and gloomily left, unable to stop us from our recitation. Because our righteous thoughts deterred the police, we exchanged experiences with our fellow practitioners, who came from all over China. At noon we were sent to various jails in different groups. My mother and I were sent to Changping District 13^th Jail, in the City of Beijing.

The police began to interrogate me, using many methods in an attempt to make me reveal my name and address. I told them, "My name is 'Falun Dafa practitioner' and I come from the universe." They were so flustered and exasperated that they tried to force me to step on Master's picture. I said this was a huge crime and I would not step on Master's picture, as it would be an insult to Master and to Buddha. Because I continued to refuse, three young men drug me by my arms and legs and attempted to make my feet move onto Master's picture which was lying on the ground, however, I used all my strength and foiled their attempt.

For a few days following this event I, along with several other practitioners, went on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Because we refused to eat, we were sent to a mental hospital to be force-fed with milk. At that time, there were more than ten practitioners who were force-fed including my mother and myself.

When the police saw that we stood firmly by our beliefs and could not be influenced by anything they escalated their persecution using a wide range of many torture methods. They used electricity to torture those of us who were said to be the "unyielding ones," including my mother and me. We set aside our thoughts of life or death, and firmly endured the pain with our indestructible willpower, with the thought "To live with no pursuits, To die with no regrets; . . ."(from "Non-existence" in Master Li's Hong Yin.)

They took me to a cell where there were two beds and forced me to lie on one of them. They tied my arms and legs to the frame bars of the bed, and stuck a needle with a metal rod into my left arm and attached another pole to my left leg, thus making a full circuit for the electrical current. When they turned on the electricity, I didn't know if they were changing the level of intensity by increasing the current or frequency, but I felt severe cramping and pain from the electrical current, and even now continue to feel a sensation of pins and needles. They tried to persuade me by saying, "why do you chose to suffer like this? Just tell us your address and you can go back home!" They would continue to torture me with the electricity for a while, then they would turn it off for a while to try and persuade me to cooperate. They continued this alternating method of torture for over thirty minutes. At the time, I noticed that I had no feeling in my left arm and left leg, and my whole body turned black, as dark as iron. On the way back to the cell, I tried to encourage other practitioners by loudly saying, "Actually electric torture is a piece of cake." The police heard this, became extremely angry, slapped my face and then encircled me, trapping me in a corner, and beat me. The policemen in the 13^th Department persecuted all practitioners in this manner.

As far as I know, a new group of Falun Dafa practitioners are abducted every other week. Under the huge pressure of evil, and extreme and intense torture, we were forced to reveal our addresses and sent back home. Kind hearted and people of the world, please think of how many Falun Dafa practitioners have suffered through this torture. As a nation's organization, the jail is meant to detain criminals, but now the jail is being utilized to torture compassionate Falun Dafa practitioners, all of whom are unarmed people, peacefully appealing with compassion. Some are even the same people who raised these policemen.

When we were released to our homes, the local police detained us further at the detention center. I had been waiting for my college to locate a job for me. When I heard the company had located a job, I was overcome by my attachments and the guard took advantage of this weak moment, and coerced us to write a pledge denouncing Falun Dafa. At that moment I only wanted to get out of detention and go to work. However, in just a few days, we regretted our actions and understood how we allowed the evil to utilize our attachments and interfere, rather than maintaining a firm resolve and assimilating ourselves and everything around us into the Fa. We made a request to get our pledge back and told them the pledge had been made under duress and against our free will, but they refused to return our pledges to us. Now my mother and I solemnly state that our pledges are invalid and we want to make up for the bad influence that we caused to Falun Dafa.

On January 27^th, 2002, nineteen practitioners who were being illegally detained, held one hand vertically in front of their chests and honorably walked out of the den of monsters--the Third Detention Center in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. After that, the Liaoning Province Public Security Department, the Anshan City Public Security Bureau, and their subordinate evil policemen illegally detained and held hostage all the family members and relatives of the 19 practitioners in retaliation. The family members have not been released since they were arrested on the 27^th. In addition, they have been threatened that they must hand over the Dafa practitioners or else the family members will be detained for an additional 15 days and they will receive a one year detention in the labor camp [without trial].

Some practitioners have 4 or 5 family members in prison at the same time. These family members may include spouses, sisters, brother-in-laws, parents of sister-in-law's, and brother-in-laws. Under the order of Jiang, even practitioners' relatives are implicated.

During national holidays, Jiang's group has intensified the persecution of Dafa practitioners by arresting practitioners everywhere. Already, there have been quite a few practitioners arrested in different places throughout Liaoning Province. The policemen often harass the families and neighbors of Dafa practitioners.

Urgently appeal to the world human rights organizations and all the world's kind-hearted people: work together to stop the Public Security Bureau of Anshan City from persecuting the family and relatives of Dafa practitioners; request them to release all the family members who are detained.

On the evening of December 28, 2001, Cui Dezhen, a practitioner from Lushang Village of Laixi City was brutally beaten to death by the local policemen. His body was dumped into a creek. The policemen cleaned up the site after the murder in an attempt to evade their responsibility and to mislead the public.

Wu Jingxia, female, 29 years old, was a practitioner from the Village of Gejia. She lived on Fenghuang Street in Fangzi District. On January 6, 2002, some vicious people arrested Wu Jingxia when she was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. On January 18, Wu Jingxia was forcibly detained in a brainwashing class. At 5 p.m. the following day, Wu Jingxia was tortured to death.

The People's Government of Weifang City Office: 86-536-823-3690, 86-536-823-9159

On December 22, 2001, Falun Dafa disciples in Changchun, China established "Changchun Falun Dafa Day," and suggested that all fellow practitioners send forth righteous thought together at 5AM, 6AM, and 7AM. When my grandson Dingding and I heard of this news, it was already 1PM that day.

We sent forth the righteous thoughts immediately. As soon as we held our palms upright in front of our chests, Dingding said, "There are no demons any more!" He also told me, "Changchun City is covered by a huge hood. There is an invincible army standing ready in a circular formation inside the hood. Master's Fashen is teaching the Fa at the top, and watching over them! All Falun Dafa disciples are listening to the Fa." I asked him, "Can we go inside?" Dingding told me, "We have been inside since long ago. There are three big doors, one for those who have cultivated to the highest level, one for those who are average, and one for new students. There are different Dafa disciples guarding the doors. The hall is very large, with everyone's own personal seat very well arranged. No one can sit on the wrong seat. We two are sitting on our own chairs."

It has already been a month and a half since "Changchun Falun Dafa Day." Falun Dafa Days in each region of China are being established one by one. I enlightened to the understanding that establishing Falun Dafa Days is not only intimidating the evil, but also eliminating the evil.

One day a detained Dafa practitioner sent forth righteous thoughts, and at the same time delivered Master Li's articles, experience sharing materials and truth-clarifying materials to our cell under the noses of the prison guards; however, the prison guards didn't notice anything. We passed them to other cells as well. We then openly gave Master's articles and truth-clarifying materials to the guards through the window of the cell, and we told them the concept that good is rewarded with good, and evil is met with evil. They took the materials with surprise. After reading the materials, nobody came to ask where the materials came from. We believe that this action shocked them.

The police detained a woman (a non-practitioner) to receive punishment in place of her son (for fighting) since they could not get him. She became so angry that she had a heart attack. She began to practice Falun Dafa under the influence of Dafa disciples who were also detained. Without any medication, her heart problem disappeared. She was delighted and said, "My misfortune has turned into great fortune." Other detainees and some of the prison guards learned a lesson from what happened to this woman. As a result, six to seven detainees began to have righteous ideas about Falun Dafa. They have listened to the Fa and have learned to practice the exercises silently.

An elderly Falun Dafa practitioner posted Dafa banners in a suburban area. At first, he hesitated to post a banner on the front side of an electricity pole. When he tried to post the banner on the backside of the pole, he fell into a hole in the ground. He thought, "I am doing such a good deed, why did I fall into such a dirty place?" With this one righteous thought, he came out of the hole instantly. Then he posted the banner on the front side of the pole. Master said, "We have said that good or evil comes from a person's spontaneous thought, and the thought at that moment can bring about different consequences" (Zhuan Falun).

One day, I posted a truth-clarifying flyer in the Military-Police Coordination Office building. As soon as I posted the flyer, a big policeman approached me and asked, "What are you doing?" Several more police and personnel appeared at this moment. I answered calmly, "I am here to do a good deed." His attitude changed instantly upon listening to my words. He responded nicely, "Next time, post the flyers elsewhere." I enlightened to a principle that when we do Dafa work, we must be firm and righteous in our thoughts and actions so that we will leave no loopholes for the evil to take advantage of.

On another occasion, a fellow practitioner and I posted truth-clarifying flyers in a dorm yard. We were spotted by a vicious security guard. He ordered us to remove the flyers. My fellow practitioner said slowly, "Our Teacher sent me here to save you all, no one should remove the flyers." Then we walked out calmly. When we looked back at that evil man, he was standing there without moving. Our righteous thoughts had "frozen" him and prevented him from doing any further damage to Dafa.

On another day, I went shopping on my bike. I spotted a slogan that slandered Falun Dafa written in white chalk on an electricity pole. I knew that there were three people hiding around and they were responsible for that slogan. I thought to myself that I was a particle of Dafa and I could rectify all that is not righteous. So I slowly erased the evil slogan with my gloves. One of the people emerged from the hiding place and walked towards me. I was not scared at all. I told him "freeze!" Then I walked away calmly. Just like Teacher described, "If you are not afraid, the factor that would make you afraid will become non-existent. This is not to be self-imposed, but is achieved by calmly and truly letting go of it" ("Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)").

The "house visit" method in clarifying the truth: During the past half year, I realized that "house visits"(visiting the homes of family and friends) is an effective way to spread the Fa and to clarify the truth. Face-to-face interaction allows for effective communication in clarifying the truth because it provides the opportunity to directly talk to many people on a personal level. When trust has been built between the practitioner and the everyday person, the everyday person will gradually accept and trust Dafa.

I shall stay with the Fa: I was a deputy head of one administration department in Beijing City. Because I practiced Falun Gong, I have been persecuted since July 1999. For instance, I was illegally arrested, detained, forced to attend brainwashing class, and my home was illegally searched. On July 2, 2001, the police sent me to another brainwashing class. I used my wisdom and escaped. From then on, I was forced to leave home and become destitute, experiencing many tribulations and hardships. But I have the great truth and I shall stay with the Fa and return to my true home.

Today, 133 people published their solemn declarations, claiming that all they have said and done under the pressure of the persecution that does not conform to Dafa are completely void. They also affirmed that they are genuine and determined Dafa disciples who will catch up with the progress of Fa-rectification. From now on, they will redouble their efforts to make up for the loss they caused to Dafa, cultivate diligently, and follow Teacher closely.

During the night of February 3, 2002, officers from Shunhe Police Station in Jiamusi City climbed over the wall surrounding my house and broke into my home. They abducted my husband, Zhou Puxiu and our housemaid, both Dafa practitioners. Director Mou Yongping said, "I'll fight against Falun Gong until the end! I'm not afraid of retribution." Mr. Zhou Puxiu was tortured at the detention center and was later diagnosed with a serious case of acute Hepatitis. After his release on bail so that he could undergo medical treatment for several months, he was again arrested without valid reason.

A small-scale Fa experience-sharing meeting was held on November 20, 2001 in Jiudian Town, Pindu City. Because a vicious person reported this to the police, a large group of police officers blockaded all major intersections. Some practitioners moved to a hill and held the meeting there, and the pursuing officers arranged for plainclothes policemen to intervene and set up traps. When the meeting concluded in the afternoon, the authorities arrested several practitioners. The police brutally beat the arrested practitioners until some passed out and some vomited. Over 20 people were arrested altogether during this incident.

Eliminating the evil at Laiyang City ruling Party School: Authorities from the Politics and Law Committee, the police department and also from the "610 office" in Laiyang City tricked and kidnapped practitioners recklessly, like netting fish. They illegally detained the practitioners at the Laiyang Party School for forced brainwashing. In the daytime, the collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] took turns attacking the practitioners. During the night they forced the practitioners to watch slanderous videos and deprived them of sleep, to the point where the practitioners became completely muddleheaded.

Selfless and fearless, an on-the-spot record of Fa-rectification occurred at the Jilin Provincial Cultural Activity Center. After a thousand Changchun Falun Dafa practitioners went into the Nanguan district courthouse to rectify the Fa, Jiang's regime felt extremely panicked. The "610 office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong that has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and the Changchun police set up an "open trial" at the Provincial Cultural Activity Center in order to trap and then arrest practitioners. However, Falun Dafa practitioners were not frightened, as one practitioner after another spoke the words "Falun Dafa Is Good!"

Whether Gods exist or not has essentially not been questioned during the greater part of human history. No matter in the east or the west, from imperial families to the common people, from millionaires to those utterly destitute, from literate minds to the uneducated, for thousands of years, people have wholeheartedly believed that Buddhas, Taos, and Gods exist.

In Great Britain the "Path of Fa-Rectification" photo exhibit opened in the East Borough of London. On January 31, 2002, the morning was glorious. In front of the London Borough Central Library, the compassionate and melodic Dafa music could be heard. A few western and eastern Dafa practitioners followed Teacher's words as they demonstrated the five sets of Falun Dafa exercises. The beautiful pictures attracted many viewers.

A Russian newspaper reported how Falun Gong is so good in its 106^th publication: "...following the instructions and the pleasant music, they are doing the slow movements simultaneously. I felt so peaceful standing there, as if all the worldly worries and troubles had left me. Their peaceful look during the practice made me feel that they were melting into the universe and becoming one body with the universe. ......"

A story during the New York Fa conference period: The song was echoing on the streets of New York City on and on. "Falun Dafa is good, Falun Dafa is the righteous law, Buhda's light illuminates everything." A policeman asked: "How can you be so peaceful?" A practitioner replied: "Because we practice 'Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance,' everyone of us knows what to do."

February 4, 2002 was the last day of the World Economic Forum; Falun Gong practitioners' 5-day peaceful appeal impressed the business people who participated in the Economic Forum. One participant said, "You did an excellent job."

Promoting Dafa at an Evening Market: Encouraged by fellow practitioners, I went to an evening market with a newly bought film projector to show a Dafa movie on February 2, 2002. Meanwhile, other practitioners distributed Dafa introduction materials to the nearby peddlers and passengers. Although the wind was very chilly, we did not leave until three hours later.

RFA report on February 6^th, 2002 from Beijing human rights organization, "Human Rights Watch" criticized the Chinese government's excessive use of torture, the large number of deaths in jails, and the large scale arrests without trial in persecuting Falun Gong. The document is 117 pages long and lists all different kinds of torture that have occurred. The document also pointed out that it is ridiculous to group Falun Gong with terrorists or to say that Falun Gong is a threat to the safety of the country.

245 people declared solemnly that all they have said and done under the influence of serious threats, forced brainwashing, and cruel torture are null and void. They will firmly cultivate Falun Dafa, firmly believe Master (Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa), clarify the truth thoroughly, reveal the evils, redouble their efforts to amend the damage they caused, and become dignified Fa-rectifying disciples.

"610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) in Hebei Province directed police to abduct Falun Dafa practitioners, and locked them in the Shijiazhuang City Brainwashing Center. They made people from Dafa practitioners' workplaces and neighborhood administration office "accompany" the practitioners 24 hours a day. They also prohibited Dafa practitioners from sleeping and forced them to listen to statements that slandered Falun Dafa. The abducted Falun Dafa practitioners or their employers had 6,000 Yuan RMB (monthly pay of an average worker is 500 Yuan) extorted from them. Later the amount rose to 15,000 Yuan. Some practitioners were tied onto beds, and their mouths were bound and gagged with several chopsticks in such a way that was extremely painful.

Laws Made by Jiang's Criminal Regime: It's a Crime to Help Others Buy Train Tickets

On February 1, practitioner Zheng Jianxin was tried at Wuchang District Court in Wuhan City, and the "charges" against him was that he helped Falun Gong practitioners to buy 20 train tickets to Beijing, and unfurled banner(s) in Tiananmen Square on October 5, 2000. The court twists the law and tries to deceive the people!

On November 15, 2001, my sister and I went to Tiananmen and sent forth righteous thoughts. We held high a Dafa banner and shouted as we walked, "Falun Dafa is good, restore Dafa's reputation, restore my Teacher's reputation!" Instantly, I felt unbelievably big and lofty. In Tiananmen Police Department, the vicious police beat me to the ground; they stepped on my chest and kicked my back. Later, we were detained in the Dongcheng District Detention Center. I didn't acknowledge the evil's arrangement and sent righteous thoughts all the time; I was able to returned home after only a dozen days.

The head and secretary of a village [name unknown] protected Dafa practitioners. They rushed to the township government and asked for practitioners who were illegally detained by government authorities when the practitioners went to turn in grain to the government. The village head and secretary brought back these practitioners, who clarified the truth about the Tiananmen "Self-immolation" face-to-face with people using righteous thoughts. Many people accepted the truth-clarification discs.

A 65-year-old Taiwanese Falun Dafa practitioner had suffered from glaucoma for more than a decade. Her medical doctor told her in 1995 that she would slowly become blind. In 1999, she made up her mind to fully use the time left to seriously cultivate Falun Dafa. Dafa has brought her brightness. Seeing her own experience in cultivating Dafa, her husband started the cultivation practice as well last year.

With righteous thoughts, one can go through heaven and earth without obstacles. In October 2001, 5 to 6 policemen and the chief of the security division of our workplace attempted to kidnap both my wife and me. We stood at the windowsill to clarify the truth to the crowd of onlookers. The police had to leave my apartment, but kept watching us from downstairs. During the night, we escaped through a skylight on the fifth floor.

On February 1, 2002, Russian media reported Falun Dafa practitioners' appeal during the World Economic Forum. The report said that the demonstrators didn't pose any political threat and the police just checked their ID.

On February 1, 2002, right in the middle of the evening's entertainment to welcome the Winter Olympics and the Lunar New Year sponsored by all strata of Chinese people at Utah State, suddenly, the alarm sounded in the theater. The staff from the Chinese Embassy immediately blamed Falun Dafa practitioners. But no one was moved by the lie. People still accepted the truth-clarification CDs. The next day, when the Chinese Embassy requested that the Salt Lake police put the case on file for investigation, they were rebuffed.

An open letter from practitioners who are now appealing in Salt Lake City: We are here not to protest any of the events, nor to express any disapproval towards the Chinese athletes who have come to attend the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. However, the persecution of Falun Gong is "Unworthy of All That China Should Become." In order to uphold the spirit of the Olympics, please help stop the persecution of Falun Gong that is going on in China.

Hu Guoping, your fellow practitioners in Japan miss you. In December 1999, you went back to China to safeguard the Fa without hesitation and you were sentenced to 3 years in prison. Now two years have passed. We are so upset that you are still detained in a human-built hell that is full of evil.

The experience of a practitioner introducing Dafa in Venezuela: I taught new practitioners the exercises and displayed Dafa videotapes; I sent truth clarification material to the local governments; I donated Dafa books to the local libraries; I talked about Dafa at local radio stations. Many people asked me when I would come back again. I feel that it is very important for Dafa assistants to guide new practitioners to study the Fa and improve their xinxing.

Overseas practitioners who originally came from Shanghai celebrate "Shanghai City Falun Dafa Week." We are proud of our fellow practitioners who can step forward to validate Dafa in such a harsh environment. We sincerely hope that the fellow practitioners in our hometown can have more people know the truth, eliminate more evils, and offer salvation to more sentient beings.
