December 31, 2001á A mainland Chinese student studying in Ottawa was beaten up Friday in the People's Republic of China Embassy during a New Year's movie party which also served as an anti-Falun Gong exhibition, the victim said Monday.
Leon Wang, 25, an MBA student at the University of Ottawa, was grabbed by several embassy staff members after he took a picture of the anti-Falun Gong display boards. Wang was an invited guest to the function. "Three or four Chinese Embassy staff forcefully dragged me into a room where they hit my head very heavily. I felt my head spinning, though I didn't lose consciousness," Wang said.
"I was forced to the ground many times. One embassy staff member twisted my arm behind my back and pummeled my body with his fist and kicked my legs. He pulled and dragged me, attempting to throw me to the ground. It was terrifying," he said.
More than 300 Chinese community members, including some young children, were treated to "shockingly graphic photographs," Wang said. He said the entire exhibition was a complete fabrication attacking Falun Gong.
"There were no signs prohibiting taking pictures, so I took a photo. For this, I was beaten as they tried to get my camera from me," he said.
"What are they hiding? Why are they so afraid of being taken a picture? If a Falun Gong practitioner can be subjected to this kind of treatment right here in Canada, just imagine how horrifying it must be for those persecuted in China," Wang said.
Xun Li, a spokesman for the Falun Dafa Association of Canada, said the conduct of the Chinese embassy officials "is most alarming." Li said he was shocked "that they are carrying out their vicious policies and campaigns against Falun Gong in Canada."
Falun Gong is a body-mind-spirit practice focusing on the universal principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It is practiced in more than 50 countries by tens of millions of people.
Only [the Jiang Zemin regime] has been persecuting and slandering practitioners, since 1999 when it banned the movement out of apparent fear that the number of practitioners had come to surpass the number of [party's name omitted] members.

(Clearwisdom.net) We have found out the cause of Falun Dafa Disciple Wang Kefei's death. Wang Kefei was illegally detained in the Heizuizi Labor Camp. She protested the illegal overload of slave labor (being allowed only three or four hours of sleep a night). The labor camp staff beat her up cruelly until her whole body was covered with wounds. Then she started a hunger strike. She was tied up, and left to sleep on the cement floor in a newly built building for several dozen days. She was almost tortured to death. A labor camp official saw her poor condition, and sent her to the Tiebei Gongan Hospital (a hospital used mostly by police) on December 20, 2001. She died there on the same day. The labor camp is trying very hard to block the news. They told people she died of hunger strike in order to fool the general public with a false explanation. They decided to cremate her body on December 27, 2001.
Kefei has departed. She does not have any hatred towards sentient beings, only compassion. Kefei has departed to awaken millions of people's hearts. Kefei, all Falun Dafa disciples in Changchun heshi to you! (Heshi is a Chinese gesture of respect and honor.)
We warn sternly those vicious people, what you destroyed is the body of a Dafa disciple, but you can never shake the heart of a Dafa disciple. [Northeast China] The Power of Compassion Destroys an Evil Display
At the end of November, the evil people in a county of northeast China held a picture display slandering Dafa in a science museum and required Dafa practitioners to go and view it. Dafa practitioners obtained the news in advance and firmly refused to go. Some leaders in the factories and institutes, obeying instructions from their superiors, dispatched people to go to there. Benevolent Dafa practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts and wiped out the arrangements of the evil. Several practitioners went to the house of a practitioner who lives next to the museum. They sent forth righteous thoughts once every hour. Another two practitioners went to the museum building to post Dafa truth materials on the wall. The effect of eliminating the evil was very good. Later we heard that few people went to the display. Some people felt a headache as soon as they stepped into the display area and instantly left. Some people could not clearly see the pictures and left after walking around. The display was up for only one day before closing.

The unlawful officials in Hebei Normal University have been persecuting Dafa practitioners for two years and the situation is getting worse.
At the end of 1999 Dafa practitioners, An Qiufen and Li Man, students from the department of education, went to Beijing to appeal and were dismissed from the school. The security division ransacked their apartments and confiscated their precious Dafa books. Both of them were escorted back to their hometowns, detained and persecuted.
In September 2000, the parents of Li Man spent 10,000 Yuan lobbying officials to let Li Man go back to school. During this period, Zhang Hushan, the president of the department and Hu Nan, the director of her class, tried many times to force her to "expose and criticize" Falun Dafa during the assembly of the whole university. Li Man had to leave the school and do temporary work to make a living.
In January 2001, she was illegally sent to Shijiazhuang Forced Labor camp because she made Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The leaders of her university have no concern for her well being, and allow her to suffer the persecution.
In September 2001, a student in the Department of Chinese Language was dismissed because she refused to write the "guarantee letters".
It is said that the security division together with some unlawful thugs recently abducted four or five teachers and sent them to a brainwashing class. A teacher from the department of physics was abducted during a break when he was teaching a class. The two retired employees, Zhang Xiuzhen and Liu Aiyang, were abducted by the security division too, and were sent to the brainwashing class. The person in charge is team leader Ma from the Judicial Bureau.

A retired party secretary of a factory became ill and was admitted to the hospital. His factory did not give him a penny for medical expenses. The old man pondered that he had devoted his entire life to the Party and in return was treated so poorly. He could not accept this and committed suicide by hanging himself. This issue caused a great shock in his factory and some other factories. The police station and the city government tried their best to cover up the truth. They claimed that the old man died naturally. The employees are all very angry. Privately, they say, "For Falun Gong practitioners, you count beating them to death as suicide. Now, an old party member who has worked hard his whole life was forced to commit suicide. You claim that he died naturally. You make rumors to slander other people but lie to cover your own scoundrel actions. What kind of government is this? What kind of world is this?" Because the truth of Dafa is deeply rooted in people's hearts in these fabric factories, the employees and family members said to our Dafa practitioners privately, "Fortunately, the old secretary has never practiced Falun Gong, otherwise they would put the responsibility on Falun Gong."
Originally, there were four people in the "610" office of the factory, now only two remain. They drink tea and read newspapers all day and said privately when chatting with intimate friends, "Why arrest those good people? It is much better to improve the productivity of the factory if they have energy. Perhaps you will not notice even if practitioners put up truth flyers on the back of your body. In that case, how can we catch them?"

I went to Beijing to appeal on May 28th. My house was ransacked on May 29th. Corrupt officials from the township government took away three TVs, a fridge, two washing machines, two electric fans, a gas stove, a dinner table, four chairs that belonged to my two sons and a desk lamp that my grandson used to study. I was detained for 58 days. On the day of my release, they extorted 2800 Yuan from my family. This included a 2500 Yuan deposit and 230 Yuan of 'food expenses'. My family members gave them the money without consulting me. The vicious people from the township government said that if I want my possessions back, I should pay them 6000 Yuan.
The lawless officials of the county government, in order to protect their own political positions, bribed a Beijing Detention Center with 30,000 Yuan that they had extorted from Dafa practitioners.
[Huanan County, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Shang Xiping, Former Director of the Huanan Forestry Bureau Police Station in Heilongjiang Province, Is Abducted in Beijing
On November 20, 2001, Falun Dafa Practitioner Shang Xiping, the former Director of the Huanan Forestry Bureau Police Station in Heilongjiang Province, was abducted in Beijing along with 16 other practitioners when they were sharing cultivation experiences with each other. After their arrest, they went on a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention. Shang Xiping was later escorted back to his hometown by the local police and was again illegally detained there.
Guo Ren'ai is another practitioner who is being illegally held in the Huanan Forestry Bureau Detention Center. She is about 50 years old and is a senior teacher from Middle School No. 1. She was forced to leave her home and wander about to avoid illegal arrest and torture. However, in October, the police abducted her while she was buying vegetables at a market. She has been illegally detained ever since.
[Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Chen Fengzhang, An Employee of the China International Airfreight Division Is Abducted To Be Brainwashed
On December 12, there was another abduction of a Falun Dafa practitioner. The manager of the China International Airfreight Division, Li Xinmin, along with Shi Jianguo and some other people, colluded with Policeman Ye Jiacheng (from the Taiyanggong Police Station in the Chaoyang District, Beijing) and officials from the "610 Office" [The 6-10 office is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches], Wang Renxin, Wang Shuying and Cui Shuzhen to abduct Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Fengzhang from his workplace. They sent him to a brainwashing class and have not yet released him. His wife who is also a Falun Dafa practitioner was forced to leave her home to avoid illegal arrest and torture, leaving behind a paralyzed family member who is 70 years old, and two children (a university student and a 3rd year senior high-school student). Their lives have become much more difficult.

[Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Sa District Detention Center in City of Daqing Illegally Detains Falun Dafa Practitioners Indefinitely
Over the past two-plus years, many Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally detained in the Sa District Detention Center in the city of Daqing. Practitioner Zhang Tieyan was tortured to death during her illegal detention here. There are over 20 Falun Dafa practitioners presently being detained here. One of the practitioners, Deng Yunhong, went to appeal to one of the related departments of the provincial government and was immediately arrested. She had already previously been illegally detained for quite a long time so her physical condition was very weak. This time, both the labor camp and the detention center did not dare to take her in. However, the Sa District Detention Center was willing to illegally detain her for a long period of time, regardless of her physical condition. Recently, they arbitrarily extended her term by another two months.
Deng has reported her situation many times to Cheng, the director, as well as to other officials in the detention center, but they have either evaded her or refused to meet with her. To this day, no one has given consideration to the issue of the "unconditional release" that the practitioners have put forward.
[Zhaoyuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Hou Baojun On A Hunger Strike For Ten Days
Falun Dafa Practitioner Hou Baojun from Zhaoyuan County, Heilongjiang Province was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest and torture. On the night of December 14, the police abducted him when he was out walking. He is currently being illegally held in the Zhaoyuan Detention Center and is suffering brutal torture. Hou Baojun has been on a hunger strike for about ten days already to protest this persecution.
[Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] The Public Security Systems in City of Daqing Constantly Abduct Dafa Practitioners
On the night of December 15, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioners Wang Huarong and Dong Wenliang from Yiyuan in the Longnan District of the city of Daqing were suddenly missing. The next day, at around 9:00 p.m., Wang Mingkui from Yueyuan in the Rang District was abducted by the local police and his home was illegally ransacked. Wang Mingkui is now being illegally detained and tortured in the Rang District Detention Center in the city of Daqing.
[Lanxi County, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Song Chunyu Is Illegally Sentenced to 3 Years of Forced Labor Education
Under the leadership of Zhang Wei, the corrupt officials from the Inner Security Section of the Lanxi County Police Department in Heilongjiang Province have extorted a large amount of money from Falun Dafa practitioners who have gone to Beijing to appeal. They were extremely wicked and merciless and have abused the practitioners mentally and physically. Some practitioners were forced to leave their homes in order to avoid illegal arrest and torture.
Practitioner Song Chunyu, male, 28 years old, was arrested by the police because he went to Beijing several times to appeal. He was then illegally detained but twice he was able to escape. He wandered destitute in Mudanjiang and found a temporary job. Because he did some activities to clarify the truth of Dafa, he was illegally arrested by the police from the Xi'an Police Station in Mudanjiang. They illegally interrogated him using torture, and did not allow him to eat anything for seven days. He had injuries all over his body from being beaten. The police then sent him to a hospital, but still would not release him. Song Chunyu is now being illegally held in the Sidaohe Forced Labor Camp in Mudanjiang and has been sentenced to 3 years of forced labor education.
[Hubei Province] Blood Stained Record of Persecution in Shizishan Forced Labor Camp
The Shizishan Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labor Camp in Hubei Province brutally persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners. The guards forcefully subject the illegally detained practitioners to their slanderous propaganda. They also make the drug-addicted inmates beat and kick the practitioners. The practitioners being detained there are suffering much mental and physical torture.
The practitioners who have been released from there have revealed that all the practitioners detained there are forced to accept several dozen of the so-called "rules." Any prisoner who refused to obey any one of those rules was immediately tortured brutally. Once, some practitioners were handcuffed from behind, and several people took turns beating them or shocking them with electric batons for long periods of time.
[Hefei City, Anhui Province] Units Responsible for Hefei Dafa Practitioner Zhang Duoyun's Death and their Telephone Numbers
On the night of November 13, 2001, Song, the chief of the Heping Road Police Station in the city of Hefei, and Policeman Wang, in collusion with Gao from the Dongshi Police Department and two other policemen including Wang from the Sanli Street Police Station drove in their police cars to Zhang Duoyun's daughter's home, in an attempt to forcibly arrest Zhang Duoyun. When they could not arrest Zhang, the police repeatedly harassed her family members. Zhang Duoyun was forced to leave home and wander about to evade illegal arrest and torture. On the night of November 13, Dafa practitioner Zhang Duoyun passed away as a result of this evil persecution.

At 9:00 a.m. on December 13, female Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Mei was abducted from her office by the officials from the National Security Department. Her whereabouts is unknown.
As practitioners in China face tremendous pressure to give up their beliefs under the Chinese regime's brutal persecution, there are those who have given in and signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa. However, many of these people deeply regret doing so after they are released from detention and labor camps. "Solemn declarations" are the public statements made by such practitioners, often at great risk to their personal safety, to declare to the world that the documents they signed under duress are null and void and that they will continue to practice Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) China's mental patients' crimes are worsening everyday because of lack of systematic cooperation among families, hospitals and police departments.
I am a teacher at the Psychology Department at the University of Zhongshan in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province and I am also a doctor. After watching the TV program on the murder case of Fu Yibin, as a doctor, I felt very sad about this event. By looking at the pictures, I could tell that Mr. Fu showed signs of being a psychopath. He would have shown signs of a mental disorder for quite some time before he reached this level [of killing people]. Why did the hospital and police department not do anything about it?
Among my patients, there are a lot of people with mental illness that approach the level of insanity and yet are freely allowed to participate in social activities. The Chinese government still does not recognize this social problem.
China has the highest occurrence of mental illness within the international community. Especially within the last ten years, there have been approximately seven million people that become mental illness patients each year. China has become the worst-case country in the international community. Although certain actions have been taken, we are still lacking systematic cooperation among the various institutions in society. In addition, Chinese people usually cover up the fact that their family member has a mental illness. Presently, in virtually every big city, everyday, we can hear of similar acts committed by mental patients. The Chinese government should take urgent action against the wide spread problems caused by mental patients, and prevent them from killing people again.

On the morning of December 21, 2001, in Changchun City, China, thousands of Falun Dafa banners appeared along several of the main streets of the city, inside some residential areas and on the campuses of some universities. The banners read: "Falun Dafa Is Good," "Falun Dafa Is a Righteous Way," "Restore the Reputation of Falun Dafa," "Restore the Reputation of Master Li Hongzhi," "Falun Gong Is Treated Unjustly," and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong," etc. This was another example of Changchun practitioners' group activities for Fa-rectification.
At 5 p.m., along with the night breeze came the voice of the World Falun Dafa Radio Station. People heard Master Li's latest poem: "The Chill of Autumn's Winds" [published on 10/25/2001]. The facts about Falun Dafa are being well received around the world. The world is also learning about the retribution the persecutors receive, and the facts about the evil forces' persecution of Falun Dafa.

Our Friend, a Non-Practitioner, Joined us to Rectify the Fa on December 21, 2001
One non-practitioner friend supports Falun Dafa very much. He often joined us in printing and distributing Dafa materials.
He helped us hang up the banners on the morning of December 21. Later, he told us that when he drove out early in the morning, he saw there were already some pedestrians along the streets ---- of course, they were all Dafa practitioners, which was really inspiring.
He also told us that he was very brave and left the car lights on when he hung the banners up in the trees. By the time the evil people tried to catch him, he had already jumped into the car and was gone without a trace.
In fact, we have many friends like that around. Therefore, we express our sincere thanks to all the friends who had joined this Fa-rectification activity. With more and more of these kinds of friends, we will certainly bring the goodness of Falun Dafa to more people in Changchun City. There will be a piece of their contribution in the brightness of the future.

While trying to force Falun Dafa practitioners to give up their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," lawless officials in some places in Hunan Province often say, "We will send you to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp where we will see how determined you are!" We therefore cannot help thinking that it must be a very terrible place. We do not have much information about what is happening there, but let us look at what one Dafa Practitioner has seen and heard during her two-month experience (February ~ March 2001) in the labor camp.
The Baimalong Forced Labor Camp of Zhuzhou City is one of the most comprehensive Forced Labor Camps in Hunan Province. It is quite isolated due to a tight blockade on information. Therefore, the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners by the police there is essentially unknown to outsiders, including the practitioners' family members. The labor camp does not allow any contact between practitioners and their families.
The illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners were not only forced to work as beasts of burden for more than 10 hours a day, but also were often beaten, cursed and hit with electric batons. In addition, police severely tortured them whenever they studied Dafa, did Dafa exercises or even sat down cross-legged.
For example, on February 5, when Falun Dafa practitioners Xiong Ruilian and Peng Daohui were sitting cross-legged on a bed, the police dragged them down to the ground and then handcuffed them to the iron window with their feet hanging in the air. Shortly after, the practitioners became nauseous. They vomited and sweated profusely. From then on, the police handcuffed these two practitioners every day. They were either hung from the window or forced to kneel under the bed.
On February 10, nearly 70 practitioners were hung in the air. The police forcefully jerked on the handcuffs for a while. Some of the practitioners were bleeding from the torture. Many practitioners, among whom was Peng Daohui, lost control of their bowels and bladders. The police showed no concern even when she lost consciousness. Later she was laid down with others, all of whom remained hand-cuffed for a long time.
After a meal one evening, Dafa practitioners were forced to watch fabricated TV programs slandering Falun Dafa. The practitioners responded by reciting Dafa articles. Because of this, they were forced to stand in the cold for the entire February night. The following day, practitioners could no longer tolerate the hard labor and either slept on the cement ground or sat down cross-legged. The police, therefore, punched and kicked them, shocked them with electric batons and forced them to stand the whole night. This happened one night after another for a long time.
One time, when a practitioner was reciting one of Mr. Li's articles, a policeman stuffed a sock into the practitioner's mouth. The practitioner's eyes immediately rolled back in her head while the policeman kept cursing her. He tried to put another sock into her mouth but was stopped by other practitioners.
One day in early March, a policeman handcuffed a practitioner without any reason and hung her up from morning until afternoon. After that, she was left hanging there until evening because she did not respond to the police roll call with the word "yes," which is the way a real criminal should respond. After dinner, she refused to watch a TV program attacking Falun Dafa, so the police left her hanging until the second morning when she lost consciousness. The rest of the practitioners were also forced to stand for the whole night without sleep.
On the morning of March 23, practitioners in the No.2 team refused to say "yes" when the police called them. As a result, the police shouted and threatened to torture them to death. The practitioners were beaten, kicked and hit with electric batons for the whole day. They were severely injured. On practitioners Hu Yuehui and Wu Aijun's bodies, no uninjured skin could be found. Blood spots and burn marks were all over their bodies. Their legs, mouths, faces and eyes were swollen and covered with black and blue bruises. It was horrible to look at them.
On March 25, all Falun Dafa practitioners in the labor camp went on a hunger strike to protest against the brutality. Four days later, the police tied the practitioners with ropes and handcuffs and force-fed them. They used a long bamboo pipe, with one end cut at an angle, to force-feed the practitioners. This was a terribly painful experience for the practitioners. Practitioner Zuo Shuchun died from this mistreatment.
After Zuo's death, officials in the labor camp changed the method to intravenous force-feeding. Those who refused to take it were severely beaten with an electric baton. After being beaten for a while, practitioners were asked whether they would accept the force-feeding or not.

I am a 50-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner. On the evening of August 21, 2001, I was abducted by three plainclothes policemen. They ambushed me near my home as I was returning with a stack of freshly printed Falun Gong materials. They dragged me downstairs and pushed me into a car. There were about ten policemen waiting around my house. After I was forced into the car, one of them demanded to know where I obtained the Falun Gong materials. I refused to answer him. Right away he slapped my face hard, and kicked me twice.
After we arrived at the Niuquanzigou Police Station, they handcuffed me to a radiator and continued their interrogation. I still refused to utter even a word. One of them approached me and slapped me hard, and I started spitting out blood. Then they dragged me into another room and closed the door in order to hide their torture of me from public view. They started beating and kicking me. Seeing that I still refused to cooperate with them, they started to shock my neck, arms, and feet with electric batons, all the while cursing at me with the vilest language. After a while, another three or four policemen came into the room. They surrounded me and started taking turns beating me. One of them hit my head with the sole of a shoe. Another one beat me with a yardstick so hard that I felt like I was going to throw up.
I was cuffed to a chair barefooted. They continued to torture and shock me with an electric baton. A policeman who was beating me with a long stick started to poke my mouth with the stick. Later, they poured cold water on the floor and immersed my feet in the water. Then they applied electric shocks to the water, hit my ankles and the tops of my feet. One of them even stripped the insulation from an electric cord and stabbed me with the metal wire. Meanwhile, another policeman cursed wickedly while beating me, "You do practice Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, don't you? Well, this is called practicing Forbearance. You keep saying good is rewarded with good, and evil will be met with evil. You think that I care? I am not afraid to go to hell. So I will beat the heck out of you. Just watch me and see if I go to hell." Just like that, these young thugs in police uniforms tortured me, a 50-year-old woman, from 11 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning. During the torture, deputies from the Shuangqiao District National Security Brigade came into the room to find out what was going on, and yet nobody tried to intervene and stop the torture. I had injuries all over my body, with dark purple colored bruises covering every patch of skin.
Later they sent me to a detention center. The officer on duty that received me observed that I was badly wounded, and he wrote down in the receiving log that my left arm showed an external injury. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt, and my exposed arm was clearly injured from the torture and my clothes were stained with blood. My body hurt all over and I dared not move while lying in bed. The bruises didn't subside for more than a month. I have now been illegally detained for nearly two months, yet my body still shows signs of injury. My right thumb feels numb and a patch on the top of my left foot still hurts.
On one side, Falun Gong practitioners are telling people what is really happening and the truth of the universe with their great compassion, patience, and tolerance. On the other side, the government's institutions are brutally persecuting and torturing kindhearted people. Isn't it obvious who is right and who is wrong? Sentient beings of the world please awaken! Please, come forward with your support for compassion!
(Clearwisdom.net) On a train to Southern China, a government official was complaining with great anger, "Look at what Jiang Zemin has done to mess up the country. Falun Gong practitioners never get involved in illegal activities and none of them are making money inappropriately. They are all so righteous and never use profanity. The government persecutes Falun Gong practitioners but leaves many criminals alone. Jiang Zemin spends all of his energy persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Isn't this person evil?"
Before the persecution, a seventy-year old retired government official practiced Falun Gong and was in perfect health. After the persecution, his children burned all his Falun Gong books under pressure from the government. The old man's health has declined a great deal. Recently, his son-in-law said, "They claim that Falun Gong has political backing. Now I understand that so many people became free of illness by reading Zhuan Falun. Why do they need any backing from political forces? Before, I did not understand why Jiang Zemin wanted to persecute Falun Gong. Now I know. Falun Gong stands for righteous principles, and Jiang Zemin promotes evil thoughts. Falun Gong's principles make Jiang Zemin feel very upset. How could he put up with it?"
When I was talking about Falun Gong with my childhood friend, she said, "I have read some Falun Gong books. The books only teach people to become good people. There is not a single sentence that teaches people to be bad. Why do they badmouth Falun Gong? Now Jiang Zemin, Zeng Qinghong and Luo Gan (Jiang's close associates) are in power. But wait until they step down and are replaced by good people. Then, the government will surely, with great courtesy and respect, invite your Teacher back to China."
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, when I took part in group Fa study, I heard many practitioners talking about their experiences and feelings in clarifying the truth to the Chinese people in Chinatown and other tourist spots. Every story was touching, and I felt very encouraged and inspired.
However, only a limited number of stories like these can be found on Clearwisdom Net. Many reports that are about overseas Hong Fa and truth clarifying activities are news reports that lack details. For example, these sentences can often be seen in such reports: " ...Chinese people...some of them enthusiastically asked some questions, ...we all clarified the truth to them." "Although some people have bad ideas about Dafa, we still patiently clarified the truth to them." "We tried our best to clarify the truth." This kind of description is fine for simple news reports, but there is much more that we can do. If we could write about what kinds of questions people ask and how we answer in order to objectively clarify the truth, if we could describe the hindrances in people's minds as well as what we patiently explain to them, all practitioners would feel as encouraged and inspired as I was.
The stories of practitioners in China move people to admiration and tears, and make up of one of the themes of Falun Dafa web sites. These stories greatly encourage the Chinese practitioners during their tribulations to step forward from their human concerns and melt into the big wave of Fa-rectification. Overseas practitioners' truth clarifying activities are a necessary part of the Fa-rectification history as well. If overseas practitioners' wisdom, the willpower they demonstrate in truth clarifying, and their righteous faith and enlightenment experiences could be widely disseminated on the web, these stories could also become references for other practitioners to clarify the truth and save more people.
Some overseas practitioners might feel that what they are doing is very common and not worth writing about. However, greatness is revealed in ordinary things. We should not ignore the fact that it is exactly their perseverance in their respective posts, rain or shine, that constitutes the overseas practitioners' assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification. Their stories, though simple, might be used in Hong Fa materials like flyers, posters, brochures, cartoons, and radio and TV programs. Practitioners' righteous enlightenment and behavior could be also be distributed widely along with these Hong Fa materials, to give them an even better effect in offering people salvation.
Today we have focused on "writing your stories of clarifying the truth." Actually, the topic is far bigger than that. If each of us would write about our local activities, personal experiences, stories, thoughts and other matters which help with Fa-rectification, cultivation and saving people, our effectiveness as Dafa particles would be multiplied many times. From this perspective, clarifying the truth to people is participating in Fa-rectification, and writing about our personal experiences is enhancing our participation in Fa-rectification.

Truth-clarifying materials incorporate the understanding of the Fa of the practitioners who write them. They reflect the writer's xinxing [moral character] standard and contain the writer's mighty virtue in other dimensions. Additionally, they reflect on the xinxing realms of all practitioners who work for Dafa websites and all those who are involved in typing, copying and distributing these materials--especially as it relates to their being responsible to Dafa and to all sentient beings.
When such truth-clarifying materials are delivered to people, they are shining treasures that can repress evil and eliminate what is deviated in other dimensions. How to best utilize such treasures so that they achieve the best effect is directly dependent on the xinxing levels of the practitioners who distribute them.
From our own understanding of both the Fa and other practitioners' experience sharing in China and overseas, we can see that when we distribute truth-clarifying literature with pure hearts and completely melt into Teacher's boundless benevolence, the results are extremely good. Many people will ask for them, and very rarely do people throw them away or destroy them. Some even ask for extra copies to share with their family members and friends. On the other hand, if practitioners distribute the material with all kinds of attachments such as being fearful, timid, feeling like they are putting in extra for Dafa etc., then that piece of truth-clarifying material will be covered with some black substance when viewed from other dimensions, and it will not be as influential as it should be.
When we do Dafa work with pure hearts and boundless benevolence, the power of such treasures will be strengthened and they will shine more brilliantly. Even a simple sentence, such as "Falun Dafa is good," can move people's hearts.
As we distribute truth-clarifying literature with pure hearts, when this information is placed outside someone's door, in other dimensions it is shining with brilliance, and the assisting consciousness of the recipient and all the beings from his heavenly paradise will make sure that he notices it, since this is also an opportunity for the entire heavenly paradise where he comes from to be saved.
Therefore we should do our best while preparing truth-clarifying literature. Since what we are doing is something supernormal, we have to set higher standards for ourselves. If we use everyday people's standards, the results will be dramatically less effective, just as when a qigong master's powers diminish when he opens a clinic to treat the diseases of everyday people with qigong.
(Clearwisdom.net) In February of this year I went to Hong Kong to attend a Fa experience-sharing conference. During that time I discovered something during my distribution of flyers to passersby. As long as I had in my heart, the very moment when I gave a flyer to someone, "only people who could be saved," and as long as that single thought of mine was completely altruistic, then that person could not help but take the Dafa flyer! If my thoughts were not righteous however, the result would be just the opposite.
I remember once when my brother passed out a flyer before I could, I got disturbed and said without thinking, "You passed out all that I was going to give out!" Immediately after I said that I regretted it, because I knew my heart was impure. Consequently, the next three people refused to take a flyer! Because of my selfishness, three people ended up losing their precious opportunity!
I felt ashamed of my haggling mentality, jealousy and selfishness. Teacher said in "Further Elimination of Attachments," from Essentials For Further Advancement, "Our students, including our staff, are jealous of each other even in their work for Dafa. Can you become a Buddha this way?" "Dafa belongs to the entire universe and not to any one, insignificant individual. Whoever does the work is spreading Dafa. It is not important whether it should be done by you, or by others. Are you going to bring to a paradise this attachment that you cannot let go of, and contend with Buddhas?"
At the same time I also realized that previously, I always attributed interferences and conflicts in my Dafa work to the evils' interference. Later I understood such a dismissive attitude was not only unholy and frivolous; it's also being used to cover up my attachments. Furthermore, it can be taken advantage of by the evil and cause a loss to Dafa!
Therefore, in addition to using a pure heart to sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil old forces, we should pay more attention to "rectifying" our own thoughts. When bad thoughts emerge, when our mood fluctuates due to attachments, even if there is only a tiny bit that does not conform to "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," we should resolutely seize them and remove them, no matter how painful it is and how hard it is to do! Only when Dafa practitioners' hearts become really pure, really harmonious and indestructible, can our thoughts and actions be free from the evil force's interference, and we can eradicate all evil in the cosmos with irresistible force!
I remember when I went to a place to collect signatures for the first time, I was afraid. I heard that the young people there were weird and I did not know if there was going to be any trouble. However, afterwards I realized such a thought was wrong. Teacher said in "Dafa is Indestructible," "... because you are a part of Dafa, indestructible; rectify all that is not righteous. Those who are 'reformed' and those who are being saved can only be beings deceived by the evil. Those who are being eliminated are the evil beings and the evil old forces."
Dafa practitioners do not have "fear." We cherish every single being and help them form a kind thought toward Dafa. Thereupon, my heart was filled with compassion and benevolence and I told the truth about the persecution of practitioners in China to everyone I met. After about two hours, my signature book was almost filled up!
Teacher said, "The compassion, the kindness, the purity, the righteousness, and the great forbearance displayed by Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period is helping to shape the future society." ("Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference") Therefore, as long as our hearts are upright and we are full of benevolence, kindness, purity, righteousness and great tolerance, we can rectify all that is unrighteous in the surrounding environment anytime, anywhere, with anyone, using any method! "The Buddha light illuminates everywhere; Propriety and justice rectify and harmonize everything" (from Teacher's poem collection Hong Yin, "In Harmony with the Fa," unofficial translation) When our righteous thoughts show up, any kind of evil environment would be completely cleansed by practitioners' benevolence and pure kindness!I would like to share some other experiences. While doing truth-clarification work to the media, I had to spend a lot of time and energy. For a while I felt resentful, thinking that I stayed at home all day long, and spending so much time. It seemed like I wasted a lot of my efforts. I did not see the immediate result and thought it would be better if I just walked on the streets and distributed flyers! However, such a mentality was quite wrong.Clarifying the truth to the media had thorough and considerable influence and Fa promotion effects! But I had only thought about myself and took a "quick result" perspective, which was indeed shortsighted and selfish! Teacher already told us, "When this thing takes place, there have to be some persons who do this and some who do that. Since it's a test aimed at the Fa, no matter where you are or what you're doing, you are improving yourself in the midst of the things you're supposed to do. There are reasons behind what everyone does." ("Master Li Hongzhi's Lecture at the Great Lakes Conference in North America")
Dafa practitioners are a whole and all our strengths are combined together. Therefore, no matter what kind of Dafa work we do, our hearts must be set upon it. We should never delay, not to mention not take it seriously! Dafa work is absolutely not ordinary people's work. How can we choose what to do for ourselves? When we know that we are actually delaying the progress of Dafa as a whole, how can we continue the delay? For that reason, no matter whether it is collecting signatures, distributing flyers, writing interview drafts, drawing pictures or writing articles, we must realize the sacredness, seriousness and urgency of Dafa work, and demonstrate the xinxing [mind and heart nature] and mighty virtue of "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples." Let's keep righteous thoughts at all times and fill ourselves with kindness and benevolence!
Precisely because we have omissions, the evil is able to take advantage of them. They covered up many hidden attachments and caused interference.
A while ago, schoolwork and Dafa work had me so busy that I hardly any time to breathe. I looked at them from an ordinary person's viewpoint and wanted to give up some of my ordinary people's work. I thought that only then could I have time for Dafa work. Although the excuse appeared quite pompous, my heart "hung in the air" and I felt awful.
I looked inside myself and finally found the cause of my uneasiness. I thought if I didn't do Dafa work, I would be left out of the magnificent group of Dafa practitioners. I did not think, however, that if I didn't do Dafa work, I would let down Teacher and his benevolent waiting and delay Dafa's progress as a whole! The first was my own standpoint and the latter is from Dafa. When a test came, an issue, a thought, an initial viewpoint, how could I have only thought about not being left behind?
I decided to eliminate this selfishness and rectify my heart before I do any kind of Dafa work. When our hearts are really up to the standard, pure and selfless, then we are qualified to do Dafa work. Then we can really manifest the great power of Dafa practitioners' Fa rectification!
Teacher said, "Whether you are able to treasure this period of time is, in fact, a matter of whether you can be responsible to yourselves" ("Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples"). "At this great moment in history, every steady step is a glorious, historic testimony and is incomparably-magnificent mighty virtue." ("The Disciples' Magnificence") Cultivation must be solid. Just because we are "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples," no matter how tight our schedules are or how little time we have, we have to do well both ordinary people's work and Dafa work! "With their exceptional breadth of mind, Dafa disciples can endure anything." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2001 Canada Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference") As long as we study the Fa more, use the principles of the Fa to remove attachments and melt ourselves [into the current of the Fa], rectify our hearts and keep righteous thoughts, then we will not be restricted by "pursuit of comfort" and "time." We will be able to use really pure hearts to walk steadfastly with every single step, as tall as heaven and incomparably noble!
Our vows will become our living proof in the future!

Greetings Master Li, practitioners, and guests!
Before we went, we knew that going to Tiananmen Square to send forth righteous thoughts together was something important and necessary. Each person prepared carefully for the event, but we did not look too far beyond the event, and there is a lesson in that, one of many lessons we are learning from our experiences. I think that all of us who were on Tiananmen Square on November 20 are still looking inward and trying to understand the experience as cultivators. So rather than a comprehensive report on the event, here are a few observations and things that I have realized.
I think this one sentence, from the message from Master to the Second Dafa Conference in Russia, is quite rich with meaning during this time period: "You should communicate with students in other countries often, encourage each other, and progress together with diligence." I take this as a firm instruction for all practitioners now, wherever we live. Certainly it provides guidance for us before, during, and after our trip to Beijing.
Master has mentioned on a couple of different occasions that there are reasons that practitioners are living outside China during this time, and also that "students outside China don't all need to go to Tiananmen." (from "Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference") This seemed to be a reason not to go to China, yet as I came to the decision to go to Tiananmen and join the group there, I knew that there were many good reasons to go, and my understanding was not that we were instructed that no one should go. Using our rationality and wisdom to understand the Fa brought us to the point of understanding that we could go to Tiananmen with solemn and calm hearts, and that we should go, we must go. Going as Westerners, we knew we would not be viewed the same way as Chinese practitioners who do the same simple and righteous act. We would be seen and treated differently by the government officials, by the Chinese people, and by the international media and world community. We felt it was our obligation to use this circumstance of our superficial characteristics--essentially our skin color in this lifetime--to do some Fa validation.
In the weeks before our journey, I took seriously this passage from the lecture in Washington DC: "Under any circumstance, in any period, and no matter how busy you are with your work, you can't stray from your Fa-study.... You can't do Dafa work without studying the Fa, or it would be an everyday person doing Dafa work." It seems that all 35 practitioners who were detained took this seriously, also, as I observed and heard about each practitioner staying true to his or her understanding of the Fa during our time on Tiananmen Square and our detention. There are 35 different stories of how we reacted and what we did, and I would love to hear them all some day!
I'll just repeat that the interesting point is that every practitioner's story is very different, yet each conducted himself or herself according to individual understanding of the Fa. In other words, our external behavior varied dramatically and visibly. Some practitioners stayed calm and motionless, some ran around, some called out "Falun Dafa Hao! (Falun Dafa Is Good)," some wouldn't easily allow themselves to be taken away. While we were in detention, some talked sincerely to police, some stayed quiet, some answered the police's questions, some did not. Of course every practitioner searched within afterwards to see how they could improve, but what I see is that, on the whole, what each practitioner did was correct and necessary.
I am reminded of this passage, again from the lecture in Washington: "You are one body, just like Master's gong ...which does different things at the same time... In other words, one body doesn't necessarily do one thing. But no matter what you do, you need to be worthy of being called a Dafa disciple."
Looking at this varying behavior externally and from the everyday society's viewpoint, we see some positive manifestations. If practitioners were as the government has portrayed them, how could one act so differently from another? Why were some doing this and others doing that? Actually, if you look at the event from a certain standpoint, we were very disorganized in our response to the police's actions. Yet, each person was self-disciplined and acted in a conscientious, noble way.
As the police came to know us through many hours of interrogation and detention, I could see that they were perplexed. They must have been thinking, "All these different people from different countries, different ages, different professions, and behaving so differently... yet each one is obviously a good person, a person who steadfastly stands for these principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance that they talk about... how can this fit what the government has told me about Falun Gong? Who is telling the truth here?"
Many of us had never met each other before that moment that we assembled in Tiananmen Square. Yet each of us study the same Fa, and each of us had that Fa to guide us in our actions. Our interpretations of the Fa assumed different superficial forms, yet the group was harmonious. We supported each other during the time in detention, despite any differences in our backgrounds, our languages, or how we acted. Each person there had a role to play, we all balanced each other. Each practitioner truly acted like a Dafa particle.
There is a photograph taken of most of our group after the banner was raised and before the police arrived. There are many interesting things about it. I was amazed to hear the translation of the sign on the east side of Tiananmen, which appears in the photo centered behind our group of practitioners who were born in, live in, or are citizens of 15 different countries. Right behind our banner with "Zhen-Shan-Ren," it is no accident that that sign says, "Long live all the peoples of the world united together."
After we were released, there were surprises awaiting us, and many tests and tribulations. We were met at the airports by bouquets of flowers, cameras, and reporters. This is an obvious test of our attachment to fame. For me, this was not as difficult as understanding the reactions of other practitioners, that is, those who did not go to Tiananmen, in the days afterwards. The reactions of many other practitioners seemed to be one or both of the following: emotion and excitement on the one hand, and, on the other hand, not handling the event as an opportunity to validate the Fa, an opportunity that all practitioners can seize, but instead handling it only as something that those 36 other practitioners did on their own.
This second reaction has puzzled me most, and there is no doubt that it relates to my own attachments, and I will continue to search myself on this point. But why would many practitioners view this event, which was done for the benefit of the Fa, as an isolated event that has little to do with themselves? Or, in another vein, why would they, with regret in their hearts, wish that they had been one of the practitioners to go on the trip? Does it matter which practitioners go? We knew this, we even discussed among ourselves before going to Tiananmen, that each of us there represented millions of other practitioners. We knew that we were supported by the powerful righteous thoughts of practitioners all over the world at that time. Didn't those who go do it for the benefit of everyone? Couldn't all practitioners make use of the favorable conditions for Fa-rectification that come from the attention generated by the event?
As I puzzled over these questions, I thought that perhaps the time has not quite arrived for certain things. One evening in group study, half of my mind was preoccupied with this issue while half of my mind was reading along with the group. Suddenly as we were reading, a section in lecture 8 of Zhuan Falun, on the heavenly circuit, grabbed all my attention. This is what I read: "The cultivation practice in our Falun Dafa avoids using this method of one energy channel bringing hundreds of energy channels into motion. From the very beginning, we require that hundreds of energy channels be opened up and make simultaneous rotations."
Master has mentioned that when we truly understand something in the Fa deeply, it sounds mundane when put into the words of human language. Given this, I cannot transmit my understanding of this passage fully, but here is a small piece of it. For myself as an individual practitioner trying to persuade other practitioners to act or think a certain way, or for our group of 36 in Tiananmen, we cannot "spur into motion" a large number of other practitioners. I understand that each individual practitioner must understand events for himself or herself, and that a time will come in the future, possibly soon, when many of us will simultaneously "open up" in some way. We practitioners all over the world, as Master has said several times, are one body. Perhaps the body referred to in this passage on the heavenly circuit could also be understood as the body of all practitioners.
As practitioners, we must balance many things. I would like to close by quoting two passages from Master, the first from the lecture in Washington, and the second is a repeat of the message to students in Russia, which is obviously meant for all of us. For some people, these two passages may seem to present a conflict between emphasis on the individual and the group. My understanding is that they point the way to harmony and balance in our body of all practitioners:
"Cultivation is an individual matter, and following the crowd won't do it. Each person's improvement must be well-grounded."
"You should communicate with students in other countries often, encourage each other, and progress together with diligence."

My name is Peter Recknagel. I'm 30 years old and I am very happy to have the opportunity to speak here today. I want to share some of my understandings and experiences regarding the November 20th Tiananmen event. I have been practicing Falun Gong since 1997 and have understood Dafa more and more. I do not know how many times I have listened to "Dalian Jiang Fa," [Master's Lecture in Dalian City] but whenever I came to one particular point, I could not understand it. Master said in 1994 in Dalian City: "weile yuzhou de zhenli, keyi xisheng shengming." ["For the truth of the universe, one can sacrifice his life" -- unofficial translation] What should that mean to me, in my peaceful, German practice environment? How could I give my life, and when? Even after the persecution started in 1999, I just had some sense of the evil environment by reading reports and listening to victims, I always had the wish to help my fellow practitioners in China, but how? During Fa-studying, and also after the Washington, D.C. Conference where Master said: "not all have to go to Tiananmen," we were discussing -- not all? Does that mean that some should? Some people decided to go. A few people became more people. The people were from many different countries. We had an intensive and of course secret discussion about how to represent ourselves in a unique and special form. In the end all of this was not done, because "da dao wu xing," ["Great Tao is without form" - translator's translation]. Three characters were the most powerful and simple: "Zhen, Shan and Ren." Nothing else had to be said.
I was reading a lot of experience sharing exchanges from mainland practitioners preparing to go to Tiananmen. They were so pure, with righteous thoughts, cleaning up their thoughts days in advance. I really admired them, but I felt I could not do it the same way. Even up to the last minute before travelling to Beijing we had to study, to work, and do Hongfa and Fa-rectification activities in Europe. There was no time to totally calm down.
On the outside we had to demonstrate relaxed behaviour, but fully concentrate inside ourselves, to succeed with our event. One moment we were still the most average group of tourists. The next moment we sent out the most righteous thought we had ever sent. We had a 4-meter banner with "Zhen, Shan, Ren" written on it. Within one second 36 people had to be adjusted, and we did it. Whenever I see the picture of that day, tears almost come to my eyes. I wish to see more pictures like this in the future, a picture taken before crazy police officers appeared. A picture taken before policeman 013160 pressed me to a wall in the detention and asked me: "Do you know what dying means?" I stayed very calm at that moment. Maybe in that second I reached the status of "weile yuzhou de zhenli, keyi xisheng shengmin."
I think and wish that all the great practitioners who have been giving up their concern for life and death by doing Fa-rectification in all evil environments could be with us here today. When the police on Tiananmen Square forcefully pulled away my legs from the lotus position, my shoelace was damaged. I did not repair it, until today. Whenever I see it, the memory returns to my head about the center of the evil, where so many practitioners already lost their lives. The Fa-rectification goes on, we will do everything to "jielu" [expose] the evil and to eliminate it completely.
During the preparation, while in custody and then back home, one of Master's poems in Hongyin [poem collection] has never left my thoughts. It connects all of us, and I will say it for you one time:

Summary of News from China
Today, 133 people solemnly declared that because their righteous belief and their righteous thoughts were not strong enough, they said and wrote things inconsistent with Dafa under persecution. They declared that all the statements were invalid. They will "Follow Teacher closely, steadfastly cultivating Dafa." ("The Knowing Heart") They will double their efforts to make up for the damage they have caused to Dafa. They will keep up with Master's Fa-rectification process and become upright Dafa disciples.
Persecution of a Dafa practitioner from northeast China:
He went to Beijing to validate Dafa and was arrested. The evil police in Changping County beat him mercilessly until he passed out. Afterwards, they escorted him to his hometown and the local police beat him with "white dragon" sticks that do damage internally but do not hurt one's skin; he was beaten for three to four hours. Police Officer An Likui repeatedly grabbed his hair and held him down. Likui received retribution immediately by falling to the ground and injuring his feet.
The police from the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp brutally beat Dafa practitioners. As soon as the practitioners entered the doors to the cells, the police started to punch and kick them. The practitioners were forced to get up at three o'clock in the morning and had to sit until eleven or twelve o'clock at night. It was very common for them to be beaten by canes, made to stand for long periods of time, and shocked by electric batons. Dafa disciples have been beaten to such an extent that their skin was torn, exposing the flesh beneath. Scars covered their bodies. Their faces have been deformed and look terrible because of the torture.
Exposing the torture I suffered at the Anda City Police Department in Heilongjiang Province:
I was illegally detained for eleven months. During that time I was physically and mentally tortured and humiliated. In September 2001, while I was talking to my sisters, police officers abducted me. Later, my son was fired and ordered to watch me at home. He had to report everything I said and did.
The facts about the abuse and brutal beatings of female practitioners at Masanjia Forced Labor (Concentration) Camp:
The vicious police forced practitioners to crawl in the snow. They beat and kicked the practitioners and even violently struck the practitioners' buttocks with their knees. They pulled the practitioners' hair, didn't allow them to sleep and attempted to brainwash them. All determined practitioners were inhumanely tortured.
Exposing the persecution I suffered from unlawful officials at the Laiwu [City] Steel Mill:
I was laid off by force for persistent cultivation of Dafa. I was arrested when going to Beijing to rectify the Fa and put into a room of less than 15 square meters at the Patrol Police Group of the Laiwu [City] Steel Mill. There were many people in the room, which made it very noisy. The radio was on twenty-four hours a day. We were given only two small steamed buns everyday and could only sleep sitting up. We were not allowed to move around. I was detained for over three months but I left openly and aboveboard in the end. Now I am forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest.
Cultivation Stories
The Buddha Law is boundless: Dafa practitioners use millions of truth-clarifying fliers to offer people salvation. Fearless practitioners overcame many difficulties and passed the truth-clarifying materials to people.
People are all waiting to obtain Dafa: Once the brake system of a practitioner's car had some problems, and the practitioner took the car to a repair shop. A prideful young technician at the shop changed his attitude and listened to the practitioner with full attention and respect while the practitioner spread Dafa to him. The sudden change in the young man caught the attention of other people in the shop, including the owner. They all came to listen to the practitioner.
In September 2001, unlawful police from Changchun City launched a large-scale arrest of Dafa practitioners who do Dafa work:
Some police guards broke into my apartment through the balcony and arrested me. I was detained for 81 days and went through many tribulations. Finally I broke the evil's arrangement and got out of the devil's den with my righteous thoughts.
The daughter of a Dafa practitioner from Benxi City, Liaoning Province was involved in a car accident. Her colleagues who were in the same car were all seriously injured, yet she was completely fine. The Dafa practitioner commented on the incident: our practitioners can bring blessings to family members. Her colleagues, friends and their family members, as well as the family members of those injured in the accident were all amazed at the miraculousness of Dafa.
Before practicing Falun Gong, a practitioner suffered from many diseases like heart disease, stroke, dizziness and kidney stones. Various treatments in the hospital did not help. Six months after the practitioner started to cultivate Dafa, a routine medical examination at the working unit showed that all the diseases had disappeared and the practitioner had regained good health.
A Dafa practitioner did not cooperate with the evil and he firmly resisted the evil request that he go to a brainwashing class. He kept clarifying the truth to the officials who came to his home trying to persuade him to attend a brainwashing class. They had no alternative but to leave. However, they did not want to give up, so they came back again. Seeing this, the practitioner sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate evil and he thought to himself, "They must leave, otherwise their heads will ache." In no more than 10 minutes they all left.
News from Overseas
During the weekend of December 1 and 2, over 50 practitioners from Queensland and New South Wales in Australia gathered at Gold Coast to have group study and experience sharing. They held a candlelight vigil on Saturday night, which attracted many people, including many local Chinese residents and tourists.
Canadian International Broadcasting Radio Station interviewed a Falun Gong practitioner named Zenon. Zenon told them that he went to China in order to tell the Chinese people that Falun Dafa is good and that he likes China and its culture. He said that he was not against the government.
The "Interviews and Discussions of Focal Points" program on CCTV on December 23 presented a ridiculous follow-up report about the "Fu Yibin Killing His Parents" case. Fu said in front of the camera, "After we develop 'compassion,' we need to have a heart of killing. I must develop the heart of killing people." This is obviously nonsense and something only a maniac would say and it could have been used to frame any kind of religion or practice.

BEIJING, Dec 31 (Reuters) - China announced new rules on the publishing sector on Monday, as the ruling [party's name omitted] maintains a tight grip on the mass media in the world's most populous country.
The rules, which go into effect on February 1, ban published material deemed harmful to social stability and set out guidelines for importing publications including books, magazines and CDs, the Xinhua news agency said.
The [party's name omitted] is keen to ensure social stability in 2002, a year made uncertain by a leadership shuffle and the threat of mass unemployment from wrenching economic reform, analysts say.
The rules offer Beijing an added weapon to control print media and publishers, although those sectors were already heavily regulated in China, they say.
The rules ban the promotion of cults and what is deemed "superstitious" material, Xinhua said.
That clause could allow Beijing to come down hard on publishers of material promoting the Falun Gong spiritual movement, which Beijing outlawed as an "[Jiang Zemin government's slanderous term omitted] " in 1999.
China guarantees religious freedom in its constitution but allows worship only through state-controlled religious bodies and has outlawed 17 underground church organisations.
The rules also ban printed material that "disturbs social order" or "destroys social stability", Xinhua said, which typically refers to politically sensitive topics, such as human rights or independence for Tibet and Taiwan.
Newspapers, periodicals, digital publications such as CDs, and books including textbooks would be affected by the rules, it said.
The rules said companies seeking to import foreign publications must meet several conditions, including a minimum registered capital and a fixed place of business, Xinhua said.
They threaten fines for publications renting out their publishing licence to other publications five to ten times the amount of money made in the illegal transactions, it said.

Late last night, just around the corner from the ritzy glitter at the Hyatt, and opposite the Chinese Embassy on Coronation Drive in Yarralumla, about 20 Sydney members of the Falun Gong movement were planning, with 70 tiny lanterns glimmering in the darkness, their own all-night event.
Spokesman Daniel Clark explained, 'We're using the candles as a symbol of mourning and of hope. The violent crackdown in China against these peoples' fellow practitioners has been going on for 2 years and 334 of them have been killed, and so we see the changing of the year as maybe a chance to look forward to new hope'.
