A Western Practitioner of Falun Gong

I am an American, born in the western United States. I now live in New York City, I've recently married and I work downtown on Wall Street designing and building computer software.

Since very early in my life, I have been attracted to Chinese culture. I think it is the grandest and richest culture in the world. When I was in high school, I began to read books from Chinese scholars and sages, such as Lao Tzu. In college, where I majored in East Asian studies, I learned about each dynasty that has arisen in China over the ages, and made a study of their writings, their poems, their customs, their war leaders; Yue Fei is a great hero of mine.

The Chinese, I feel, have a truly glorious history!

In the spring of 1999, a good friend of mine from Beijing walked by my desk at work, dropped a book on my desk and said, "you should check this out." This friend is a graduate of Beijing University and has a leading role in our company. We have been friends for a long time. I respect him very much. I took the book home and read through it.

The book explained in great clarity the principles of and relationships among the human body, life and the entire universe. It unraveled the mysteries of the ages, it explained the true connection between mind and body, and it cut through the confusions and misconceptions that have taken root in these chaotic modern times. Furthermore, it explained things from the perspective of science. Indeed, I found this book to be a higher form of science -- something much more advanced than what we have developed here in the West.

The book was truly a treasure from China and after reading it through, carefully studying the principles it expounded and adopting them into my life, I have found that it has changed my life completely. I am stronger, healthier, happier, have more energy at work, have a very harmonious and loving relationship with my wife, and so on. The benefits are endless.

Having studied Chinese history and culture, I could see this book and its teachings have brought to light all the best of China's grand and ancient heritage, rectifying what has degenerated, and returning to the glory of ancient China's virtue.

Having lived in the West, making advances in the field of computers and technology, I can see this book and its teachings addressed the mysteries of life and the universe that modern-day science has yet to understand. It is truly a higher form of science, and can therefore bridge the gap between science and spirituality, what is seen and what is unseen, what has been discovered and what remains a mystery.

Having made a careful study of the book and adopted its principles and practice into my life, I can say it is the greatest thing I have ever found--sacred and magnificent--and to no surprise from me, it comes from China and is rooted in ancient Chinese culture.

The book is Zhuan Falun, the principles are Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and the practice is Falun Dafa.

I know Jiang Zemin, out of selfish motives of his own, without any regard for the stability and reputation of the great nation of China, has unleashed a horrifying persecution of those who practice Falun Dafa in China. He has used all the media to spread lies and fabrications about Falun Dafa. He has used the nation's police and government officials to detain, torture and kill those who practice Falun Dafa. He has used business interests in China in an effort to cover up the persecution so as to prevent the world from discovering what is happening to innocent Chinese citizens who practice Falun Dafa. Indeed, he has used all the nation's resources to carry out this persecution, all because he wanted to consolidate his power, force political rivals to fall in line behind him, and most of all, because the goodness and virtue of Falun Dafa was a bright light, which stood in stark contrast to his own selfishness and corruption.

But his effort is failing, and failing fast.

Dear Chinese friend, I want to tell you that Falun Dafa is good. Falun Dafa is openly practiced in over 50 countries around the world. It has received awards and proclamations around the world for the benefits and virtue it has brought to the people who practice it and the communities in which they live. My own city, New York City, proclaimed: "The City of New York is proud to honor and commend the Falun Dafa movement, founded by Li Hong Zhi, in recognition of their teachings of peace and spirituality."

Jiang Zemin is ruining the great nation of China. The world has come to know all about this horrible persecution and it has come to know all about Falun Dafa.

The world knows Falun Dafa is good.

The world condemns Jiang Zemin for this persecution campaign he has unleashed. It is unjust, it goes against the will of heaven, it goes against the Chinese people and it is bringing shame down upon China.

Think about all that you know about Falun Dafa -- where does the information come from? Have you read the books of Falun Dafa yourself? Have you talked with real practitioners yourself? Do not be coerced into believing the lies and propaganda that Jiang Zemin has spread, using T.V., newspapers, radio, etc. Do not be coerced into going against Falun Dafa. Already, there is talk in China -- the truth will soon be brought to light, Jiang Zemin's selfish campaign will fail, and all will be handled according to the ancient will of heaven: "good will be rewarded with good, and evil rewarded with evil."

Dear Chinese friend, be virtuous...do good. You are Chinese, and therefore, you are of a glorious people. Let the glory of China be restored and all Chinese people revered for their virtue, for their glory, for their Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
