On the morning of June 5, more than 60 practitioners from the greater New York area gathered at the Chinese Consulate to appeal. The practitioners prepared an appeal letter to the general consulate calling for the immediate release of all those detained in China for practicing Falun Gong in the past two years and of the five overseas practitioners who are not Chinese residents but were illegally detained when they were in China.
After one practitioner read a statement at the press conference, four others went to the Chinese Consulate to deliver the letter. After speaking to the receptionist, they were told to wait while he asked for instructions. They waited for quite a while before the receptionist told them that the general consul could not accept the letter and that he would not ask for instructions again. The practitioners reiterated their purpose for being there and the fact that they were carrying out a Chinese citizen's responsibility by presenting their thinking, but the receptionist still repeatedly refused. When a reporter asked him whether it was his decision or the decision of the Chinese Consulate to refuse the appeal letter from Falun Gong practitioners, he said he was doing his job.
The practitioners outside the Consulate practiced the exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts, and read the appeal letter in Chinese.
On June 5, along with practitioners worldwide, UK practitioners appealed at the Chinese Embassy in London and at the Chinese Consulate in Manchester.
More than 20 practitioners from the London area attended the event at the Chinese Embassy. After the group practice, they sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil. After that, a western practitioner delivered a letter demanding the immediate, unconditional release of all those detained in China for practicing Falun Gong to the Chinese Embassy. The British policeman on duty accepted the letter and assured the practitioner that he would deliver the letter to the Chinese Embassy.
[Minghui Net] May 13th was World Falun Dafa Day. Practitioners and other people all over the world were celebrating this magnificent day. In China, however, there were many police and undercover policemen all over the train station as well as on every main street in Beijing. Even though Tiananmen Square was filled with police, police cars, and spies and the atmosphere was frightening, thousands of practitioners still overcame all the difficulties and went to Tiananmen Square to rectify the Fa and clarify the truth to all people.
On May 13th, the voices of "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa" were constantly coming out from Tiananmen Square. Practitioners mingled among other tourists so that it became difficult for the police to distinguish the practitioners from other people. What stirred our hearts the most were the banners that appeared in Tiananmen Square printed with "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa," "Return Innocence to Falun Dafa," "Fa rectifies the human world" and "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." Those, since they proclaimed the truth, were what the evil-doers feared most. And arrested practitioners were mostly those who unfurled the banners.
I was arrested at around 3:00 PM. All practitioners who refused to report their names and addresses were sent to the Tiananmen police station. As soon as the police opened the iron gate, the practitioners inside applauded and welcomed us. Many of them had bruises on their faces. Some of them had been beaten so badly that their faces were deformed. A female practitioner who was about 30 years old had a 4mm deep cut on her chin which resulted from the beating by police. She bled profusely. Every practitioner was firm and determined. We recited Teacher's articles. Whenever a practitioner was beaten, we shouted: "Suffocate the evil," "Beating violates the law."
At 6:00 PM, there were fifty practitioners left besides those whose addresses had been discovered and had not yet been taken away by their local officers. The guards separated the male and female practitioners and planned to put us on two separate buses. We held onto each other and unified into one whole group and refused to move. The police then beat us up with batons with four or five policemen beating one practitioner. One policeman stepped on a 20-year-old practitioner's head, another four "officers" kicked him on his back and legs brutally. It lasted almost half an hour before we were forced to get on the bus. Female practitioners got on a big bus and we 13 male practitioners got into a police van. As soon as the vehicle started moving, we opened the windows and shouted "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa," "Falun Dafa is innocent" and "Restore our teacher's blamelessness." We shouted along the way until the van got to the Mentougou branch of Beijing security bureau. We wanted to wake up more people and to let them know the truth.
When we arrived at the Mentougou branch, we were sent to different police stations to be interrogated. A 20-year-old practitioner and me were sent to Junzhuang police station. A policeman named Chen Guowei (police badge number 045261) and two others came up saying: "Do not mention anything about Dafa. I do not believe it nor do I want to hear about it. Our duty tonight is to find out why you came to Beijing, your name, and where you came from. It will save all of us time. Do not make us beat you." We firmly refused to tell our names and addresses, only saying that we came to rectify the Fa and that our names were "Dafa practitioners." We calmly told them the universal principles.
Chen became very impatient and slapped me on the face suddenly. He then punched me on my head and chest. I was surprised but did not feel any pain. We still refused to tell them anything. He went out and came back with electric batons. He shocked us on various exposed areas. Another practitioner is a quiet college student and he was shocked until he had spasms and he had to lie on the floor, breathing heavily. To the end, we did not cooperate with these evil people. We would rather suffer physically than give in. There was nothing they could do. They sent us to the Mentougou detention center.
When we were in the detention center, we thought that we were not criminals. We are cultivators of the righteous Fa. Therefore, we refused to carry out the rules and refused to eat and drink to protest their suppression. Some officers in charge incited other criminals to beat, chain, and shackle us. There were always sounds from every cell of practitioners being beaten. After three days, we went on a hunger strike. They beat me until I fainted. They let the doctor examine me. I had a very rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure. I fainted almost every day because of the hunger strike. They feared that I was going to die there and finally released me.
At Mentougou branch and detention center, all the policemen and criminals admired Dafa practitioners after seeing them so determined and never giving in. We know that it is our Teacher who gives us eternal life and brings hope to this universe. This motivates all practitioners to strive forward during the Fa rectification process and to let every life see the powerful manifestation of the magnificent Fa. The Fa eliminates all the evil and rectifies the cosmos.
During the magnificent Fa rectification period, as a practitioner, if one cannot prove worthy of Dafa, he does not deserve to be born in this eastern land [China]. And if he breaks his promise, he will regret it forever!
We arrived at 4:50 p.m. Earlier in the morning when we had passed by Tiananmen Square, it had been very foggy and cloudy, and it felt hard to breathe. Now it was mostly clear and we could almost see the light blue sky and the sun, indicating that the evil beings had already dispersed. We heard that there had been practitioners displaying a banner to protest in the morning and in the afternoon (the number of practitioners was unknown). It was possible that those practitioners who had come early had already massively eliminated the evil beings. There were not many people in the Square, but there were several dozens of police cars there, more than normal. There were also some police cars and buses outside the Square. We have heard that there have been more police in the Square since Teacher's article "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful" was published. We have also heard that certain authorities do not permit the police to read this article. It became even worse since Minghui Net sent out a notice requesting all Dafa practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts and eradicate the evil at the same time. We walked around Tiananmen Square and noticed that there were around 40 practitioners that we knew. Most of us had come here to send forth righteous thoughts, some had come here to display the banners and protest.
Exactly at 5:00 p.m., we sent forth our righteous thoughts at the same time. Some practitioners were sitting there with their eyes closed, some were holding one hand vertically in front of their chests, some were walking around. We focused our minds and silently recited, "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated." Not far from us we saw a practitioner in her 50s taking out a banner and shouting. The police took her away and pushed her into a police car, but they did not beat her. Later we saw that two other practitioners were arrested. The evil beings are still rampant before being eliminated.
At 6:00 p.m., we sent forth our righteous thoughts for the second time. At 7:00 p.m., we sent forth our righteous thoughts for the third time. By then, the sky above Tiananmen Square was completely blue, though it was still a bit foggy around us. On our way back, we heard the sound of drums, as though celebrating our victory.
There were around 40 of us that went to Tiananmen Square; most of us came back safely. Some who went to display the banners and protest also came back safely. We do indeed feel that there are many evil beings in Tiananmen Square.
June 4, 2001
To showcase its "achievements," the labor camp held a traditional Chinese dance competition during the Spring Festival. It was below -30 °C [below -22 °F] that day. They ordered the practitioners to take off their overcoats and dance outdoors for an hour. Since the practitioners had not been allowed to have any outdoor activity for a long time, some became very weak. As a result of the cold weather, many developed a cough and fever. A practitioner in her fifties broke her arm on the ice.
Every practitioner was forced to buy expired perfumes for 5 Yuan per bottle. The perfume was used to mask the bad smell in the cell during official visits. The authorities have no concern about the practitioners' health.
It was even more unbelievable that a jail guard, who was sent to the labor camp for narcotic abuse, continues to use drugs inside the labor camp! When the families and friends of Falun Gong practitioners visited, they were not even allowed to bring necessities. These had to be purchased in the camp. But drugs can be brought in publicly. This is more evidence of Jiang Zemin's policy of "punish the good and reward the evil."
The jail guards treat the peaceful and kind Falun Gong practitioners badly. They extend their jail terms and constantly torture them. In the meantime, they turn a blind eye on the prostitutes and drug users at their worst behaviors. Is this the so-called "the golden age of human rights in China?" Jiang Zemin and his followers grossly violate justice and the law. They try to fool the people. But justice will eventually overcome evil. More and more people have clearly seen the dirty tricks by Jiang Zemin. We hope that kind-hearted people all over the world will appeal to the Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Dafa and release all the innocent practitioners.
There, I stayed in a local practitioner's home. Around 9 pm on April 10, I went downstairs to get truth clarifying literature and Master's new article that were delivered by another practitioner. When I was returning with the materials, I heard somebody yelling outside: "Stay where you are! We're the police! Put down the materials for inspection. Where's the driver?" When I heard this, my first thoughts were that there were practitioners and Falun Dafa materials upstairs and the driver was in the hallway. I had to protect the others; I went downstairs and was seized by the police.
I was just about to promote the Fa as I arrived at the police sub-station when a policeman pointed at me saying, "I am telling you that you can say nothing." I enlightened to the understanding that this was Master giving me a hint. When they asked for my name and address, I just kept silent. The other two told the police their names and addresses. After our hands were chained and shackeled to a wall for 18 hours, we were sent to the Tiebei detention center in Changchun.
I was detained in room 307 in the detention center. Because I wouldn't cooperate with the illegal deeds of the police, I started a hunger strike to protest. People from the Public Security Bureau, Security Bureau, and other units came to interrogate me many times. They beat me, cursed me, and tried to deceive me with hypocritical words, but they couldn't achieve their goals. Later on they had five or six inmates force me to the ground to take a picture. I just didn't cooperate with them and they failed again. In the end they left, disappointed.
During the daytime when I was sitting or taking a break, I used this opportunity to practice meditation. I thought that they couldn't see me, and they actually couldn't see me, nor could the monitor detect me. I sat there meditating peacefully.
Seven days after I went on a hunger strike, instructor Chen Yufeng ordered cell head Ma Xuanyi, Zuo Xiaomei and other inmates to force-feed me. They used all the cruel means they could muster but they didn't succeed. During this time the instructor also had inmates feed me with medicine and thick salt water, using a wooden stick from the washroom to pry open my teeth. My head, face and whole body were covered with bruises. My teeth were pried loose several times, but I thought "I am a Dafa practitioner and the teeth will recover," and they did recover.
On the 33rd day of my hunger strike, my body had very serious reactions. They forced injections and intravenous tranfusions into me. When they gave me the intravenous drip, I thought at that moment that I couldn't breath and indeed I couldn't breath, so they pulled out the needle. I thought "I am a particle of Dafa," and that I should play the role of a Dafa particle truly and suffocate the evil; I thought I should leave and not stay there to suffer passively. The next day my belly started bulging right before everybody's eyes. They were scared and set me free. I returned to my home the same day. I recovered in just two days and then I merged again into the torrent of assisting Teacher to rectify the Fa.
Practitioners in a certain Chinese city became very excited after they read the Minghui editorial "Send Forth Righteous Thoughts" in the morning of May 26, 2001. They overcame a great deal of difficulties and hand-delivered the article to each practitioner as quickly as possible.
At 5 AM sharp on May 27, all the practitioners solemnly sent out the purest and most resolute, righteous thoughts to shoulder their responsibilities as Dafa disciples and to fulfill the promises they made a long time ago.
[Northeastern China] Practitioners Post Eye-catching Flyers to Clarify the Truth about Falun Gong
On May 30, practitioners in a certain northeastern Chinese city held another large-scale group activity to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the city residents. This time, the practitioners printed the flyers on yellow and blue stickers, and also hung multi-colored balloons with the words "Falun Dafa is good" printed on them. In addition, the practitioners added a line at the bottom of each sticker, and wrote in small print the following words, "All kind-hearted people like the flyers. Anyone who takes them down will receive retribution for his action." Most of the flyers were posted the previous evening. The next day, many flyers could still be seen in nearly all the major city streets, including the square in the heart of the city where the city government, the city police department, and major banks are located. The brightly colored stickers grabbed the attention of many passers-by. The consciences of the people are gradually awakening, as the righteous thoughts of practitioners are becoming more and more powerful.
[Heilongjiang Province] Falun Gong Broadcast Heard over the Sky of the Local Prison
At midnight one day in early May, a loudspeaker began to play a Falun Gong broadcast clarifying the true facts from the 7th floor of a building that sat directly across from the prison and the police detective squad in a certain Heilongjiang city. The radio broadcast program was played twice and lasted more than 40 minutes before the policemen finally managed to take the loudspeaker down. The voice of righteousness shook up the evil people and greatly encouraged the practitioners.
[China] "Yes, I did that!"
One day, a policeman went to visit a practitioner and asked her if she was responsible for the posting of Falun Gong truth-clarifying flyers that had caused quite a stir in the city several days earlier. The practitioner courageously replied, "Yes, I did that! What is wrong with that?" The policeman smiled at her and left without saying anything else.
[Beijing] Beijing Practitioners Forced to Attend "Transformation Classes"
The Lanniao Skyscraper Training Center is located near Shuangqiao in the Beijing district of Chaoyang. The district government spent a total of 3 million Yuan turning it into a "transformation" site for Falun Gong practitioners. Each "transformation class" lasts 15 days, and most of the practitioners who attended the "class" had been sent there after they were arrested in their homes.
The practitioners are placed under strict surveillance the moment they arrive at the "transformation" site, and guards are posted at each stairwell. The practitioners are not allowed to move around unescorted. They are watched by the so-called "helpers and teachers" even when they sleep at night.
The "class" is held in the following manner: except when they are sleeping or eating, the practitioners have to spend every minute of the day talking to the "helpers and teachers." These "helpers and teachers" are either members of the 6-10 office [an organization formed to crack down on Falun Gong], local policemen, or former practitioners who have been "transformed" and are being paid to "help out." Three or four "helpers" usually surround each practitioner. In the beginning, the "helpers" pretended that they were nice people and just wanted to talk to the practitioners. If they felt that they were not making progress with their "transformation" work a couple of days later, they began to reveal their true nature. They have used a variety of methods to torture the practitioners, including denying the practitioners food and/or sleep, forcing the practitioners to remain standing for long periods of time, verbally abusing the practitioners, and making up lies to scare and confuse the practitioners. Several groups of "helpers" then took turns bombarding the practitioners around the clock. Some former practitioners, including Zhao Yaze, have done more damage than outsiders ever could. They have forgotten that nobody can damage the great laws of the universe. The only thing they are doing is allowing themselves to be used by the evil and along the way destroying their own future.
[Langfang City, Hebei Province] The Wanzhuang Labor Camp Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners
The vicious guards at the Wanzhuang Labor Camp frequently abuse the practitioners being detained there. Zhang Xuezhi, a young man who is being detained in the 2nd Platoon of the labor camp, has been beaten so brutally that his eardrums are ruptured, his eyesight has been drastically reduced, and his chest has turned yellow. The guards have ordered or urged the inmates to beat the practitioners. The inmates often tie the practitioners up to beat them. For every practitioner that they successfully "transform," the inmates' leaders have their sentences reduced by one month. The pained cries of practitioners are heard so frequently that the guards have set the volume of the radio at the highest level to cover up the sounds. Even senior citizens could not escape such brutal and inhumane treatment. A practitioner who is in his 60s is often physically assaulted and not allowed to sleep at night.
The guards have even punished the practitioners for questioning why they were being mistreated in such a manner. On May 16, practitioner Liu Xidong mentioned to the guard that he wanted to ask the head of the labor camp why the work hours of the practitioners had been extended for no apparent reason. The practitioners had been forced to work 19 hours a day in the past. While the United Nations Human Rights Commission was holding its annual meeting in Geneva, the practitioners were allowed to "only" work from 6 AM to 6 PM. They also were beaten less frequently. However, as soon as the meeting ended in April, the work hours of the practitioners were gradually increased and eventually went back to 19 hours. The practitioners started to get beaten even more frequently than before. The guard not only totally ignored Liu's request, but he proceeded to handcuff Liu to the fence for a whole morning. When practitioners Wang Fenghai and Liu Xijie tried to talk to the guard about it at around the noon, they were also handcuffed to the fence for the rest of the afternoon. Liu Xidong was then handcuffed and brutally beaten in the evening.
[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Authorities Arrest Another Practitioner
Practitioner Bai Sulan, female, around 30, was illegally arrested several days ago. The only reason for her arrest was that she answered "yes" when the police asked her whether she would continue to practice Falun Gong.
[Sanhe City, Hebei Province] A Record of Mistreatments Against Practitioner Hao Yafen
In April of 2000, while she was being forced to attend a "transformation class" at the Yanjiao Development Zone, a policeman named Qi Xiaoquan grabbed her hair with one hand, and used the other hand to slap her face and her hands multiple times.
In June of 2000, she was arrested for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and detained at the Yanjiao Police Station. Policemen Liu Yalu and Qi Xiaoquan used electric batons to shock her entire body, slapped her face, and kicked her for more than an hour.
In December of 2000, she went back to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested again. They held her inside an iron cage at the Yanjiao Police Station for six days and six nights. She was then brought to the Development Zone Police Station, and beaten by members of the City Security Squadron. The vicious policemen including Xu Cheng kicked her head with leather boots, slapped her face while wearing studded gloves with nails sticking out, and kicked the rest of her body repeatedly. Several police officials, including a vice squadron leader with the surname of Chen, Hao Zhongwu, and a police chief with the surname of Ma, were present. They not only did not intervene, but instead encouraged the beating.
In April of 2000, her employer took away her bonus and half a month of her salary, totaling approximately 1,500 Yuan [Chinese dollars, the monthly salary of an average city worker in China is about 500 yuan]. Her family gave Zan Qin, the head of the local police station, a bribe of 2,000 Yuan to keep her out of jail.
In May of 2000, the Development Zone authorities forced her to pay 2,000 Yuan and refused to give her a receipt for the money.
In July of 2000, her employer notified her that the police had imposed a fine of 5,000 Yuan (again they refused to give her a receipt for the fine). Policeman Liu Yalu forced her to pay another 1,000 Yuan without giving her a receipt. Her husband was also fined more than 2,000 Yuan.
Her employer, the Sanhe City Electric Company Limited, fired her from her job. The company officials who have persecuted her include company presidents Luo Shao and Shi Yuewen, the head of the company Communist Party branch Yang Jingyu and Wang Yumin, the head of the Employee Politics Division Fu Qinghe, and the head of the Security Division Duan Jun.

[Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Sanhe Authorities Kidnap Practitioners and Send Them to Labor Camps
Recently the evil people in Sanhe have kidnapped a number of practitioners and sent them to labor camps. Some practitioners were told that they were being sent to Beijing to attend "transformation classes," but in reality they were sent to labor camps. The very night that they were arrested, practitioners Zhou Xiulan and Wu Zhijin (both from the township of Huangtuzhuang), and Wang Shuling (from the village of Xiaoyangezhuang) were sent to the Kaiping Labor Camp in the nearby city of Tangshan.
Wei Shulan, a teacher at the 1st Elementary School, escaped from being sent to the labor camp after she protested it with her life. Other practitioners were able to get away.
[Qingyang County, Shanxi Province] News from the Changqing Oil Field
Practitioners Cui Yumei (female, 43, an employee of the Changqing Oil Field 2nd Refinery) and Zhang Huaqiao (female, 52, her husband works at the Changqing Oil Field 2nd Refinery) were arrested after they went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999. Cui Yumei was detained for more than 40 days, and Zhang Huaqiao was detained for more than 30 days. They had to pay a fine of 3,000 Yuan before they were released. The employer of Cui Yumei placed her under strict surveillance, withheld most of her salary, and only gave her a small living allowance every month. Members of her family watched Zhang Huaqiao around the clock. They would not let her leave her home and would not give her any spending money. The two practitioners went back to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on December 20, 2001. They were arrested again and detained for more than 30 days. They were forced to attend a "transformation class." Because they insisted on practicing Falun Gong, they were secretly sentenced to labor camps around mid-February of 2001. Each practitioner was given an 18-month sentence. They are now being held at the Pingan Labor Camp in the city of Lanzhou.
Wang Yinfeng, in his 50s, went to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained for more than 60 days. Around mid-February of 2001, he was sentenced to one year at the Pingan Labor Camp in the city of Lanzhou.
Several practitioners from the Changqing Oil Field (whose names are not being published out of concern for their safety) went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 2000. Since then, they have been forced to live on the streets and cannot go back to their homes.
Practitioner Liu Zhirong was arrested and detained for more than 70 days after she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in December of 1999. In April of 2000, the police arrested her at her workplace and sentenced her to one year at the Pingan Labor Camp in the city of Lanzhou. The term of her original sentence expired more than 80 days ago, yet she is still being detained at the labor camp.
Practitioner Jiao Lili finished her one-year sentence at the labor camp more than 80 days ago. But because she insists on practicing Falun Gong, she is still being detained at the labor camp.
[China] Infamous Qigong Slanderer Receives Retribution for His Bad Deeds
Sima Nan, an infamous Qigong slanderer who has been attacking Falun Gong viciously, was seriously burned in the recent days. According to newspaper reports, he was sitting in a wheelchair when he went to attend the funeral of Liang Zuo. He told reporters that his feet had been severely burned. Does he know that having his feet burned is not just a simple warning?
[Changchun City, Jilin Province] A Former Practitioner Receives Retribution for His Bad Deeds
A former practitioner was "transformed" while serving time at the Heizuizi Labor Camp in the city of Changchun. After he was released from the labor camp, he began to experience health problems, and participated in efforts to slander Falun Gong and Master Li. He also attempted to "transform" other practitioners. His family members did the same and damaged the reputation of Falun Gong. This April, that former practitioner died under excruciating pain. His family members have also fallen ill and do not dare to show their faces anymore.
[Beijing] A Giant Circle of Light Appears in the Beijing Sky
From approximately 11 AM to 2 PM on May 30, Beijing residents witnessed firsthand the circle of light that the residents of many other cities had already seen previously. The sky was very clear, and a giant circle of light gradually began to appear around the sun. The diameter of the circle was several dozen times the diameter of the sun. The edge of the circle took upon the colors of the rainbow, and the area between the sun and the giant circle of light shone with a grayish purple light.
Many ordinary Beijing citizens took it as a sign that something major is about to take place. The practitioners, of course, know what had happened and what is about to happen.

Gao Juya is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Gaoyi County, Hebei Province. Her husband was illegally sent to Shijiazhuang Labor Camp because he firmly practiced Dafa and went to Beijing to make appeals. Consequently the burden of her whole family's livelihood fell on her shoulders alone, which meant supporting her mother-in-law, who has been bed-ridden for years, plus two young children. Additionally, she was frequently harassed by the police. During the week before the Chinese New Year, the police broke down her door and forcibly dragged her to the police station to conduct illegal interrogation. Unable to bear the harassment anymore, she went to the relevant government offices many times to ask for legal protection.
On March 26, 2001, Geng Jinshu, the chief of the security department in the police station, along with two people from the county's 610 Office (created by the government to deal specifically with issues related to Falun Gong) and the vice-head of Xifu Village, came to her house. They asked her to write about how difficult her family's situation had become after her husband had been sent to the labor camp and to write that she would not practice Falun Gong anymore. Their real intention was to blame Falun Gong for their own crime of tearing a family apart. Geng, of the security department, was even so hypocritical as to offer this: "When you go visit your husband, I'll go with you. We'll have the labor camp see the difficulties your family is going through, so that they might release him earlier..."
Before he could finish, Gao Juya refused immediately, saying "Don't even think about deceiving people! You tore our family apart, and now you're attempting to put the blame on our Teacher and Falun Dafa. Teacher tells us to practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. We have done nothing wrong! You put us good people in jail and still say that you're just working for whoever pays your salary. You've forgotten that it is the people who feed you and provide you with clothes. You should serve the people. Please start by fixing my door, which was broken down by the police from your station." Geng responded in a hurry, "Do not write about the broken door for now. Please cooperate with us in your writing, and I won't let anyone read it. I know you are all good people. Isn't it a fact that your family has had lots of difficulties since your husband was sent to labor camp?" Gao Juya replied, "That's all because of you! Why did you send my husband to labor camp if you know we're good people? Now you're attempting to swindle false evidence from me in order to defame Falun Gong. I won't let you succeed!" With this, they became frustrated and they left empty handed.
People like Geng Jinshu are surely Jiang Zemin's loyal henchmen. Not only are they die-hards for following Jiang Zemin's orders, but they also apply at will the people-harming techniques that are used all the time by Jiang Zemin, such as distorting the facts and framing innocent people. But these stupid and mean tricks can't fool Dafa practitioners, who have wisdom and clear-headedness. All the filthiness displayed by these vicious people will eventually come to a shameful end.

[Editor's note] Shanshan turned nine years old this year. He began practicing Falun Dafa at the age of four with his parents. At the very beginning, his mother watched videos and listened to tapes of the Teacher's lectures at home, while Shanshan was playing with his toys nearby. He appeared not to have been listening closely to the lectures at all, but he started saying some words that really amazed his parents when he was five. Since then, Shanshan began his cultivation practice in earnest. Though he didn't know any Chinese characters, and couldn't even write his name in Chinese, he was able to read Zhuan Falun and other Dafa books. However, he couldn't recognize the same words when they appeared elsewhere. Over the past year, Shanshan has started telling his mother about what he has seen. The contents are substantial, and the main parts are described below.

"Send forth righteous thoughts for the third time, and eradicate the evil." When I arrived, I saw that Teacher was already there, waiting for us. Teacher was sitting on a lotus flower and he had brought several large immortals with him. It was a huge battlefield again. Soon the demons came on ferociously. Different kinds of demons gathered together, including crocodiles, huge snails, ghosts from hell, and skulls. Thousands of them stood in rows. Teacher put a cover over the battlefield, but the demons couldn't see it. All the demons that entered the cover today would not be able to get away.
We practiced the meditation exercise waiting for the first time to send forth righteous thoughts, simultaneously, with other practitioners around the world. A small number of the ghosts turned themselves into winds from hell and came towards us. The winds were chilly and bracing. It was June, but obviously the practitioners were freezing since the word "cold" kept coming out from the practitioners' minds.
Teacher was watching all of this.
The demons found the chilly winds to be powerful weapons. So a large number of ghosts from hell gathered and drifted toward us in order to interfere with our forthcoming righteous thoughts. The winds became colder and colder. They blew at us and chilled us to the bone. But we didn't move at all, and none of us stepped back. Many ghosts from hell emerged. They were actually not ghosts from hell, but the embodiments of the demons. So they all had some supernormal abilities. Teacher noticed that the effects of sending forth righteous thoughts could be undermined if they were allowed to continue. So he began making hand gestures on the lotus flower and those large immortals by Teacher's side also started to clear these demons away.
When the time came, we braved the cold wind and silently recited, "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated." Falun and our supernormal abilities immediately fired at those demons. The battlefield was full of fire, lightening and thunder like explosions. Today there were a lot of demons. Though they outnumbered us by countless times, whole groups of demons were killed or injured by (one strike of) Teacher, a few heavenly immortals, and us.
It was the decisive battle today. So the demons that came here all had some capabilities. Those demonic troops of crocodiles and snails had all swallowed "heavenly dan" [energy clusters] before they came. They had stolen some Fa-instruments and heavenly dan that had been cultivated for many years by immortals in other dimensions. Now they had become sagacious since they had swallowed the dan. I bombed a big demon and I saw the precious golden dan in his chest. But a tiny finger or one rotation of Falun was more than enough to crush these poisonous demons.
Not one demon was left after we sent forth our righteous thoughts for the third time. All the demons were totally eliminated inside the cover put up by Teacher. It then became warmer and the sun shone on us.
Nowadays, sometimes I follow Teacher to clear away demons. Sometimes I fight with demons myself. Recently, I have been going out to eliminate the Evil almost everyday. Teacher continues to teach me how to send forth purer righteous thoughts to eradicate the Evil. Yesterday Teacher picked me up as I was practicing the exercises. Happily, I went with Teacher to eliminate demons. I saw a golden door with two locks on it. I pushed it but it didn't open. I asked Teacher what was behind the door. Teacher said solemnly but kindly to me, "It is time to remove your heart of curiosity."
After a while, (a demon) pretending to be Teacher tried to deceive me. My supernormal abilities were not powerful enough to defeat it, so Teacher came and blew it off. Teacher told me, "Don't try to look into the cause. Why do you want to know its evolution? Just eliminate the demon immediately when you see it. The simpler the thoughts are, the better the result will be. This is because the simpler the thoughts are, the more powerful the thoughts will be. Otherwise, your supernormal abilities will be blocked by your own thoughts. And only 10 percent of your supernormal abilities will be sent out." Teacher also said, "You will know everything when you reach Consummation later. Now you need to make the best use of your time to eliminate the Evil."
Before I left, Teacher told me to raise my palms upright to send forth my gong to the house where those Chinese demons resided. Teacher strengthened gong for me in my back. I recited, "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated." And I targeted the house on earth to send out my gong with my palms upright. The house was blown up right away with fires rising to the sky. My supernormal abilities used to be able to blow up only one floor of the house, based on my past experience. So I came to really understand what Teacher had told me. All that we have is from Teacher and from the principles of the universe – "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." We will have boundless universal powers as long as we let go of the concept of "ourselves" and dissolve into the Fa totally. Now I don't feel tired after I eliminate the Evil. Instead, it seems I have unlimited strength.
Teacher's mouth doesn't move when he speaks. He uses mind-intent. The voice of Teacher is deep and rich. What he says sounds very poetic. On the way returning here, Teacher repeatedly said to me, "Do you remember? Remember... Remember... Remember..." Then Teacher disappeared amidst strong lights. Teacher has a pile of contracts. They are the vows made by the practitioners before they voluntarily came down to the human world. They made the vows to the Lord of Buddhas - our Teacher. The contracts look like those silk imperial edicts with two sticks at the ends. All the things that we need to do during the Fa-rectification are recorded on our contracts, including sending forth righteous thoughts today. So all of it was predetermined.
We have different responsibilities during Fa-rectification. At the bottom of each contract, there is a larger size font and a blackened line that reads, "Keep the promises forever. Never break the vows." And practitioners who signed the contract would acquire enormous karma if they didn't join the Fa-rectification. That is because they would have deceived the universe's Lord with whom they signed the contract. The contract will remain valid through the end of Fa-rectification. Then the practitioners' names that shine with golden lights on the contracts will disappear.
There is a bottle with sand inside next to the pile of contracts. That is the hour-glass. Fa-rectification will end when all the sand is gone.

On the afternoon of June 5, more than 100 practitioners gathered at the Chinese consulate in San Francisco to appeal and hold a press conference demanding the release of the five practitioners who are overseas residents but who were detained while they were in China. The practitioners read the press statement and walked into the Chinese Consulate to deliver a letter while reporters from many media were following and watching.
The officials at the Consulate refused to accept the letter with the reason: "We do not accept any letters from Falun Gong." The practitioner who delivered the letter was interviewed by reporters inside the Chinese Consulate.
Besides calling for an immediate end to the ban on Falun Gong as usual, they especially demanded the release of the five overseas practitioners this time. The five practitioners include Dr. Teng Chunyan, a New York acupuncture doctor who was sentenced to three years in labor camp, Ms. Zhu Ying, a Montreal residents who is currently missing, Mr. Zhao Ming, a graduate student in computer science at Trinity College, Ireland, who has been imprisoned and tortured in two labor camps since July 2000, Mr. Chu O-Ming, a Hong Kong permanent resident and SAR passport holder, who was arrested after filing a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, and Mr. Hu Guoping, a Japanese researcher who was arrested in Beijing for taking pictures in Tiananmen Square and sentenced to three years in labor camp.
Local English and Chinese language media including AP, World Journal, Singdao Journal, TV channel 4, channel 5, and two Chinese TV stations attended the event and conducted interviews.

I am nearly 70 years old. My face is rosy and ruddy, my back is straight, and I walk briskly. I have not touched any medicine for several years. People who know me have all heard about my extraordinary way of improving body and mind. People I don't know often want me to tell them how I keep myself healthy. My technique is cultivating and practicing Falun Dafa. It is Master Li who has saved me. It is Falun Dafa that has transformed me into a healthy person both in body and in mind.
I learned Dafa in the winter of 1997, which is quite a marvelous story in itself. That year I had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. After getting out of the hospital, I ended up with my eyes and mouth crooked. I had to limp around due to restricted movement of my left arm and leg. When I showed up at the group practice site for the first time, the group assistant did not allow me to join them since Dafa is for cultivation and they did not accept people with serious illness. He just gave me a copy of Zhuan Falun and told me to study it first by myself. I read the whole Zhuan Falun in one pass and felt it was truly remarkable. I compelled myself to go to the group practice site to learn the exercises and to participate in their group Fa (Law and principles) study.
After less than half a month I was transformed into a whole new person. I knew that the purpose of living as a human being is to return to one's true nature. I felt I had boundless strength. My mouth was not that crooked anymore and my left leg was much more nimble. One evening I went downstairs to go to practice and on the way I suddenly fell to the ground. The right side of my face hit the concrete surface so hard that I felt like my whole face had caved into my head. Blood came out of my mouth and nose. I had just one thought in my mind, “This is the karma elimination process. I am alright since I am guarded by Teacher's Fashen.” I could not have moved even if I had tried. I passed out after a while. It is freezing cold during the winter in the Northeast of China. I just laid there quietly, with blood all around me.
I did not know how much time passed before some passersby took me home. My eyes were swollen like ping-pong balls and my face was soaked in blood. My son sent me to the hospital and doctors performed a CT scan on me. Yet, the scan revealed absolutely nothing abnormal. The doctor was amazed. Since they couldn't do anything they let me go home. They told me to contact them if my condition changed for the worse. After returning home I stuck to my daily cultivation practice despite my wounds. After only three days, something remarkable happened. The swelling in my right eye receded. My cheekbone returned to the correct position. Even more extraordinary was that I regained freedom of movement in my previously impaired arm and leg. Without a hitch, I could walk normally like other people. My son was overjoyed and cried to his wife: “Come and see quickly, this is a real cultivator. My dad is completely cured. This is magical!”
After July 25, 1999, Falun Dafa received unprecedented persecution. Even though I could no longer do my practice at the regular place, I did practice in the privacy of my home. I followed every teaching of my Master. I went to crowded places. Whenever people asked me the secret of my gaining a new healthy body, I was more than happy to oblige them. I would promote the benefits of Dafa practice using my own personal experience. In this way, they could feel that the Dafa was right next to them. If nobody asked me, then I would try to find some conversation topic that would allow me to talk about my experiences. This approach provided a good opportunity for people to actively ask for information pertaining to the truth about Falun Gong, or asking me to teach them the exercises.
Once I walked straight into a local police station to promote Dafa. I announced loudly upon entering, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I was crippled before but I am now completely cured after practicing Falun Gong.” The police chief asked me to come with him into his office and closed the door behind us. He then asked me about the benefits of Falun Dafa. I talked with him for more than two hours about my own personal adventures. Before I left, I told him to start practicing Falun Dafa as soon as possible.
In conjunction with the UN International Day of Support Victims of Torture
More than a normal Hong Fa activity, Seattle practitioners also used this opportunity to raise public awareness of June 26th, the United Nations International Day of Support for Victims of Torture from the angle of Falun Dafa practitioners' situation in China.
A press release was sent out to local news and TV stations entitled "Washington State Falun Gong Association Joins the United Nations Against Torture." A copy of the release was displayed at the booth, along with commemorative T-shirts, flags, and buttons to give away. Many people read the press release. The free items were gone quickly and each taker was given an explanation of what the items signified. Cameramen from the local TV channel 4 came and filmed the booth while the practitioners were doing the exercises.

We were the first group to give an exercise demo on stage on Sunday. One practitioner gave a brief introduction to the audience. Then, using the 20 minute exercise music, the local practitioners were joined by Western practitioners who had driven all the way from Victoria, Canada to demonstrate the exercises. Some members of the audience, including the woman hosting the program, imitated the movements.
Exchanging experiences with some Kung Fu practitioners
Also presenting at the festival were some Kung Fu and healing exercise practitioners. In the presenters' lunch room, some Falun Dafa practitioners had a chance to chat with a Kung Fu practitioner. Later, there was an unexpected opportunity to chat with Kung Fu practitioners in a group. In the beginning, they were a little stiff being with us. After we showed the Real Story video, some "fears" and misunderstandings started to clear away. They also felt the strong energy field while we were doing the exercises. In sharing experiences, we really understood why Master Li had said that he's teaching on a high level. A senior Kung Fu practitioner showed interest in learning Falun Gong.

The event sponsor had asked the local practitioners to provide food for the lunch room for the event presenters. For two days, the practitioners brought a variety of food and prepared hot water and kept the lunch room clean. The sponsor told other booth presenters that the food had been provided by the Falun Gong practitioners. She told them that we are all nice people. It appears that whatever we do, we are presenting Falun Dafa to people, just from different angles.
San Francisco -- Loretta Lam of San Francisco practiced "Falun Gong" in front of the Chinese Consulate on Laguna Street to protest Beijing's suppression of the spiritual practice that has its roots in ancient philosophy. About 50 people participated in the demonstration, part of a worldwide protest to demand the release of Falun Gong practitioners being held in Chinese prisons.
LAST WEEK, the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily carried this item at a bottom corner of its front page: "France passes anti-xx law." Wink, wink, nudge, nudge Mr. Tung. Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa lately has been expressing some awe-inspiring profundities about the Falun Gong movement, such as finding it “more or less bearing some characteristics of a [slanderous term omitted]." Mr. Tung, taking his cue from Beijing, in turn has had his own vibes picked up by Hong Kong's chief secretary, who warned that "a responsible government has to consider cautiously all the options available." Ergo, the administration reportedly has been looking at anti-xx laws from abroad, and is said to have been paying particular attention to the development of the French law. And what a terrible idea this all is, given what laws are supposed to be and what threat the Falun Gong actually poses.
Laws exist in order to adjudicate between competing rights, as well as lesser entitlements. The greatest of rights is that of life -- all others flow from this. The right to life is non-negotiable. The rest, however, are hierarchical, and which ones take a higher precedence over which others and in what situation is what jurisprudence is about. Within this calculus, laws are meant to deter a person from overstepping the bounds of his rights by the threat of punishment.
Now consider the Falun Gong in Hong Kong. It has harmed no one; it threatens no one; it does not call for revolution or the overthrow of anyone anywhere. The Falun Gong is a law-abiding group with no discernible intention of being otherwise, no wicked design on the rights of others or the good of the many. And what a bother this must be for anyone fretting about the group's presence in Hong Kong. But if the Falun Gong movement hasn't and won't break any normal law, then by golly perhaps there ought to be a law against breathing. Or at least deep breathing. The problem with this is obvious. It criminalizes normal behaviour and impinges on the natural right of man to hold his faith in good conscience and to practise its tenets freely.
As for any example to be taken from the French law, apart from its implicit bad faith much of it is just plain silly. The worst of its original provisions thankfully wasn't adopted: the criminal offence of "mental manipulation." Parents with toddlers would have needed to watch themselves. But that this provision was even seriously considered, though, shows the wobbly ground on which such a law stands.
By admitting that it would even consider a similar law, whatever its specific form, Hong Kong is saying that it believes jurisprudence to be malleable, that law-abiding individuals or groups that are an irritant may find themselves corralled by new laws: Conform or else. Through such an apparent predisposition, the government belies its dedication to the liberalism supposedly guaranteed by "one country, two systems." To begin to repair faith in its dedication requires that it not only reject any attempt to incriminate the innocent, but to aver that a "responsible government" will never try to legislate paranoia. Otherwise, a Hong Kong that aspires to be a "world city," instead only shows itself to be provincial and close-minded.
